Hi! Thanks for coming back for chapter two. I hope you enjoy it. And ya, their parents suck. And I think Kisha's learning from them a little too much. So let's see what happens. I don't own Harry Potter but I do own these characters! Thank you for the likes, follows, and reviews-they make me want to write faster! Feel free to leave any suggestions or requests-our story is just getting started! And now for the eldest daughter...
Chapter 2:
Where's my letter?
This was going through Kisha's head as she stared out the window in disbelief. The shimmery brown owl had delivered her the wrong letter. But no, Kisha's envelope bore her name and Hogwart's official seal. But it couldn't be her letter, for there was nothing mentioning Head Girl.
"I haven't got it," Kisha whispered. She stumbled backwards and sunk down onto her soft, flowered magenta bed. "They didn't make me Head Girl." Kisha furrowed her eyebrows and let her head drop into her hands. A sob escaped through Kisha's trembling lips. There would be no celebration for her that night. No proud parents, smiling at their eldest daughter. No owls would be sent to her friends so they could join her in her joy. For Kisha, there would be no joy, only disappointment. She was a disappointment. Her last year at Hogwarts had not started, and yet it couldn't get any worse.
"Kish?" Someone rapped on the door. Kisha ignored them.
"Kisha, it's Bia," Bia called. "Guess what? Hey, Kisha, are you ok? Did your letter come? Let me in!"
"I didn't get a letter yet," Kisha muttered.
"Really?" Bia asked. "Well I'm sure it's coming soon."
"Ya," Kisha lied, "It'll come soon." She heard Bia's footsteps walking towards the hall and sighed. Kisha leaned back, resting her head on her pillow.
"Kisha?" It was Bia's voice again.
"What?"
"You did get a letter, there were four owls and mum didn't get."
"Mmm."
"Kisha, let me in," Bia said forcefully.
Kisha begrudgingly opened the door, then plopped back onto her bed.
"Kish, what's wrong?" Bia asked, sitting next to her sister.
"I'm not head girl," Kisha whispered. The words felt sour on her tongue.
"And I'll never be head girl," Bia said, placing a hand on Kisha's shoulder. "So why are you so upset?"
Kisha jerked Bia's hand away and stood up, then crossed angrily to the window.
"Kisha," Bia started
"Just shut up!" Kisha yelled, spinning around to face her sister. "You don't understand! You'll never understand. How it's like, with…"
"With?" Bia prompted.
"With everyone in this bloody household expecting me to be the best, I am the best! Best in my class, best in my house, but I'm not! And I never have been, apparently. Unless that cracked headmaster Dumbledore rigged it! You know, I wouldn't be surprised if he did!"
Bia stared at her sister, her mouth open and her face aghast. She had never heard Kisha talk about anyone like that, least of all Dumbledore!
"Kish," Bia said, tentatively, "it couldn't have been rigged, a Slytherin was chosen and you know that Dumbledore rarely chooses Slytherin." Then, seeing as Kisha's face rivaled that of a fire breathing dragon, Bia quickly went on.
"No, you're right, Kisha, it was clearly rigged, you totally deserved that win."
"It's ok, I know you believe Dumbledore was right. I didn't deserve that win. I'm not good enough." All the anger seemed to melt from Kisha and her whole body seemed to sag.
"Kisha," Bia walked over to her sister and hesitated, then wrapped her in a hug. "Kisha, we both know that you're good enough. Just because you were cheated out of Head Girl doesn't mean you can't have a great year. You'll still get the most N.E.W.T.S. and finish top of the class."
"But what I don't?" Kisha breathed.
"Then you'll still get enough to get a great job and I'll be proud of you no matter what."
"Mum won't."
"Of course she will, you're her favorite child."
"Only because I'm perfect. Was perfect.
"No, Kisha, nobody is perfect."
"Not anymore."
"Not ever." Bia sighed. When would Kisha start thinking about the important things in life, like having fun and hanging out with friends (homework sessions do not count)? She knew Kisha felt the same was about Bia, just with opposite values. But you didn't see Bia crying over not getting Prefect.
"Thanks, Bia," Kisha said, going back to her bed.
"Sure, and hey, Oonah got it to Hogwarts!"
"Did she?" Kisha yawned. "That's nice, I'm going to bed now."
"But it's only nine."
"And we'll be up bright and early, shopping at Diagon Alley."
"Alright, goodnight then." Bia shut the door behind her, giving her sister one last concerned look. She'll be fine in the morning, Bia decided.
Kisha lay wide awake under her furry, purple covers.
I'm not giving up, she thought. Bia's right. I was cheated. And like Snape said once, 'Even if something seems impossible, there's almost always a way to get it."
I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please leave a review-it's greatly appreciated! The next chapter will be posted in 2-5 days.
