Even if they knew heading to Wakanda after what Thanos just did was a bad idea, they couldn't stay in space. They had a job to do and they were going to do it even if it meant having to face off against the Black Panther and his Dora.

That's a lie. They wish they could turn tail and run, but then William would do worse to them than what could happen here and they'd rather not face William after whatever Grell did to the man.

—*—

"Steve?"

The man turns at the sound of his long-time friend's voice only to see him turn to ash in front of him, the sniper he once held falling to the ground and disturbing what was left of his best friend. Steve was in shock. How could this have happened?

Then he hears shouts of other names, names of people who upon further inspection he'd know the same thing that happened to Bucky had happened to the others.

He rushes to where Thor had been fighting Thanos. Where Wanda had had to kill Vision. Where Thanos had used the Time Stone to reverse his body and the Mind Stone back to before they had been destroyed.

Where he had heard a shout from a voice he didn't know. That wouldn't surprise him, they were in Wakanda and he didn't know everyone that arrived. A certain tree and raccoon came to mind. But he only knew one man… er… being that had a British accent, and that was most certainly not Vision. It sounded more feminine, which didn't help him. Though, maybe that was also because he heard Thor shouting. It wasn't anything other than incoherent shouts.

When he arrived, ready for a fight all he saw was a woman with long red hair holding an equally red chainsaw raised and being used to stop an attack from the God of Thunder. Before Steve could move he realized the chainsaw wasn't on and that the woman was simply blocking Thor's attacks. Then he noticed the blonde on the ground next to Vision. Or rather, the gray body with a hole in his head.

Steve couldn't look at his teammate. Knowing he was sacrificing his life against Steve's wishes was one thing, but seeing that it failed, that this was what happened to him because it was worse. But what he could focus on was the blonde man kneeling next to Vision.

That's when he noticed the dead body of Loki. Steve didn't know what to do.

First, his best friend turns to ashes in front of him, and then a woman and man show up with Loki. What was he supposed to do? It was too much, too much had happened in the past few days.

Thor finally stopped when the redhead avoided an attack, letting him see his brother's body. With that distraction, she pins him down, surprising everyone who showed up at hearing the commotion. How was this woman stronger than Thor?

"Are you calm, now?" She snarls. "I had been hoping not to fight anyone this time around. Ronald, add this to the list of terrible missions."

The blonde man lifts his head, "A little busy dealing with the fact I'm about to do the same thing you are and therefore face the same consequences."

That got the woman's attention. "Oh… Oh, Ronald."

A gun was now being aimed at the blonde, from what the redhead said was named Ronald. Due to the two newcomers' conversation, Steve was able to regain some of his bearings to notice it was Nat holding the gun.

That was Bucky's gun. Before he…

Steve shakes his head. He can't think that right now. He needs to focus on what's happening in front of him.

"Who are you and what are you doing here?" Natasha's calm, cool, and collected voice helped bring Steve back to reality. Something he could recognize.

Thor's booming voice also helped, "And why do you have my brother's body?"

That was a good point, why did they have Loki's body?

Bruce was horrified by the mere sight of the God of Mischief, but based on what little he had been able to tell them of his adventures in space, they knew it wasn't out of fear of him, but for him. Bruce had known Loki died after he was sent to Earth because the Bifrost was still connected to the area and he didn't make it to Earth until after Thanos had left the Statesman. That's why Hulk didn't want to fight Thanos, someone who could beat him easily but also the God he had previously pummeled into the ground just years before.

"For your information," the woman grounds out. Steve realizes that it was her voice he heard earlier. "We are Grim Reapers, it's our job to reap the souls of the dead and send them to their proper afterlife."

"That didn't answer my question," Natasha drawls, cocking the gun as an intimidation tactic. Though, she would pull the trigger if she didn't like what she heard. Not now. Not after what has just happened. She wouldn't take that chance.

In response to Natasha's tactics, the woman laughs, "Darling, that won't do as much to us as you think. You might shoot me, but you can't kill what's already dead." She becomes serious and turns her head to face Natasha, who still has Ronald at gunpoint. "Plus, by the time you shot one of us, the other would have already destabilized you."

"Grell, shut up," the blonde 'reaper' grits his teeth.

The redhead, Grell, waves her hand and grins showing off her sharp teeth. "Sure, whatever you say, Ronald." Then she turns back to Natasha, "We're here because we need to figure out where all these souls have gone. They weren't supposed to die and I know no demons have been making deals as of late. Sebastian would have told me if it were."

Ronald scoffs, "If any demon would have been making deals it would have been him and you know I'm right."

"Details," she once again waves him off. "As for the question of Loki's body, well, I'm about to do something that will have severe consequences for me and none for him."

"And what might that be?" Steve was surprised when he spoke, not expecting himself to be able to after the panic attack he had.

"Something that I'm going to do for Vision as well." Ronald pauses. "Bring them back to life."

Ronald knew they'd be in trouble for telling them everything, but Grell was bluffing when she said a bullet to the brain wouldn't take them out of the running for hours, maybe even days. So neither of them was taking that chance.

This was the best possible outcome that they could muster of this day.

Even if it meant having to face the wrath of their superior more than they already would have before.
