Earth… City Z…
So, here's a situation that your brain might be able to conjure. Imagine you're just an average person trying to find a job, but then you end up fighting some crab monster that wanted to kill some kid over a prank. Course you end up winning, whether it was sheer luck or fate that had something in mind for you. But of course, it doesn't stop there… Oh boy, it doesn't stop there.
Right after you manage to succeed in this victory, you're suddenly encountered by freakishly strong and almost invulnerable monsters that randomly appear out of nowhere with no relation to the monster you just slew. But just when you thought you were screwed, some random, badass person that seemingly looked like something from a video game appeared out of, again, freaking nowhere. You then start to see just how freakishly strong this guy is and was like… Hey… Can I be that strong too? And then you have the absolute gull to ask if you can be this insanely powerful dude's bloody disciple…
Yeah, everyone, that's exactly the kind of situation Saitama was in right now. Only, he seemed to impress the so-called badass dude by holding his own against a demon. This badass guy being The Doom Slayer. He has not introduced his name in any fashion, and according to Saitama's knowledge, he doesn't even know this dude's name.
And so this is where we pick up our story… With the Slayer himself offering a hand up for a gruesomely injured yet still breathing Saitama.
Saitama reached his hand up to grab it, grabbing the Slayer's hand. The Doom Slayer had a firm grip on arm. Saitama was waiting for this guy to pull him up, but that never happened. Which brought mass confusion to him. Suddenly, a swirling vortex of blue siphoning energy opened next to him and the Doom Slayer. At first Saitama thought there were more of those things getting ready to come through, but he didn't really have time to react as he felt his arm jerk forward and felt himself get thrown into the swirling vortex. Saitama at first let out a yelp of surprise. However, upon Saitama being thrown into the vortex, he found himself landing on his chest, which was painful to say the least. Landing on some hard metal flooring.
Saitama took in his surroundings and slowly opened his eyes. He found himself in an almost alien looking area. There were a bunch of high tech stuff that was comparable to that of those sci-fi movies where people go to space and what not, except this was all real. And then, Saitama could see through the massive window that was at the end of the room…
Earth…
Wait… Was he… IN SPACE?!
A huge rush of feelings and emotions swelled through Saitama all at once. Where the fuck was he in space?!
Suddenly, his supposed Mentor and yeeter that got him into the place, came through the Portal, while walking past Saitama with no issue at all. Completely ignoring his presence.
"Welcome back, Slayer, I see you have brought a guest," An AI Voice spoke throughout the area.
"AAAH, What the hell was that?" Saitama exclaimed quite explicitly. Though, he never got an answer from The Slayer who only kept walking and seemed to be heading into the middle of the room. Which took a flight of stairs down to the lower level.
"Greetings, I am VEGA, an advanced AI system, my primary and sole objective is to assist the Slayer in hunting down demonic activity throughout the multiverse," The AI System known as VEGA said through the ship.
Okay… What?
"Uhm… Could you back up a little… Slayer… Demonic Activity… Multiverse…" Saitama said, who was quite flabbergasted.
"Allow me to explain, VEGA," A robotic voice said, however, it came from behind the still fallen Saitama. Saitama turned around, whilst still on the ground and saw a large humanoid robot.
"Uuuh, talking robot… Oh… Sorry that came off kinda rude," Saitama said, trying not to be like a total asshole as his first impression. The robot put his hand.
"It is completely acceptable. I understand this might be your first encounter with a talking robotic humanoid," The robot said with a seemingly calm and understandable tone. Saitama let out a sigh of relief.
"Glad to know my first impressions with this bunch isn't being a total asshole," Saitama said with heavy relief.
"Given how The Slayer gave you his first impressions, it's only fair that yours would be that of shock. Now, aside from all that. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Dr. Samuel Hayden, I am the Slayer's Traveling companion. I aid the Slayer in hopes of eliminating all forms of Demons throughout the cosmos. As I'm sure this must be a lot for you to handle, but yes, The Multiverse is real, and yes, Demons from Hell are manifesting in your world," Dr. Hayden said, explaining to Saitama as to what the situation was. Saitama's mind was completely boggled. At first he was going to say something, but then his mind went blank.
"Before we continue this conversation further, let's have a look at those wounds. VEGA, can you run a full body scan on him," Dr. Hayden asked.
"Affirmative," The voice of VEGA said. Despite nothing obviously scanning Saitama, there was something examining his body.
"Scan complete. First Name: Saitama. Age: 22. Sex: Male. No criminal history detected. Scan complete on body condition. Currently, several broken bones and ripped flesh on the frontal chest and serratus anterior muscles. Broken bones consist of the third rib cage, left shoulder collar bone, heavy bruise on the first lumbar vertebra, and several strained muscles in the pronator teres, biceps brachii and pectoralis minor on both sides of his body. Dr. Hayden, he requires serious medical attention. I suggest the Healing pod for this procedure," VEGA went into a full fledged essay and report on Saitama's body and a little bit on himself.
"I see, Thank you, VEGA," Dr. Hayden said as he turned his attention back to Saitama. Reaching down to help him up. A floatation device hovered over. Acting as a floatable device. Like a stretcher of some kind, however, it didn't have any wheels and was practically floating. It lowered down to get to Saitama's level.
"Uuuh, what was with the Criminal History scan?" Saitama asked curiously.
"A precaution, if you had a criminal history, we would turn you into the authorities. However that seems entirely unnecessary seeing you have no indication of such atrocities. Now, moving you may hurt a little. Brace yourself for any pain you might feel," Dr. Hayden said as he put his robotic hands on Saitama's shoulders. Trying to be extremely gentle with it.
"Oh, this is just a scratch, trust me I feel fi-AAAGH… Shit that hurt!" Saitama expressed his pain out loud as Dr. Hayden moved Saitama onto the floating stretcher.
"Can't say I didn't warn you," Dr. Hayden said as a joke.
"Nope… You totally did… ow," Saitama muttered a little. The floating Stretcher then rose up as it began to float towards the healing pod room.
"This device should take you to the healing pod room. VEGA will monitor you and I will discuss a few things with The Slayer. Once you are healed, I suppose I'll begin explaining what we're doing, and the situation of Earth… and… As well as your own," Dr. Hayden said.
"Yeah, that's no problem, I'll just uuh… try not to scream, I guess," Saitama said as the device, controlled by VEGA slowly began to make its way to the healing pod room. After he was out of ear reach. Dr. Hayden turned his attention back to the Slayer, who was currently focusing on the terminals and scanning for any other Demon activity. Dr. Hayden began to make his way to the Slayer.
The Slayer's attitude was nothing unusual at the moment… The only thing that caught Dr. Hayden off guard the most was when he not only spoke to Saitama, but accepted him as a disciple. It was something that he'd never seen in all the years he had traveled with him. Without a doubt, that was something unusual. The Robotic Doctor walked to The Doom Slayer, who hadn't turned his attention away from the terminals. Seemingly still searching for more demonic activity.
"Slayer, Normally I wouldn't question your choices or actions, but… I do have something to say in the matter," Dr. Hayden said as he stood behind the Slayer. Keeping a small distance away from him to give some comfortable space. The Slayer remained unresponsive, he merely swiped his hand on the terminal to scan the area he was currently looking at to examine if any Demonic Activity was in said area.
"Slayer, I am uncertain taking on a disciple is wise. Whether or not he survives, we are wanderers, travelers… You, VEGA, and I never stay within one universe for long. I do not recommend this course of action. And besides, he is just a man, yes he held his own against an imp, that goes without saying. A feat most humans in any other world we've encountered have been unable to handle, especially since these demons are infused with Argent Energy. Stronger, faster, smarter, and nigh invulnerable to attacks that aren't Argent related. But I do not believe we will stay here in this universe for very long, Slayer… Which is why we need to send him back before he gets too involved in our matters," Dr. Hayden explained his concerns and complaints to the Slayer.
The Slayer, however, didn't seem all that bothered. He paused for a moment, looking at Dr. Hayden without turning his full body and shifted his attention back to the terminal. He proceeded to swipe it to a data pad where he began typing with one hand. On the screen of the terminal, words were spelled out.
He is stronger than you might think. Yes, we are wanderers, but do not make assumptions. I have no intention of getting attached to this man, only that he might prove to be something to test out. I haven't trained anyone, and it could be something interesting to try. If he dies, then there will be no remorse, no emotions, only that the test was complete. If he does survive, then perhaps… I misjudged him.
Those were the words typed onto the terminal. Dr. Hayden sighed.
"Even if you train him… AND he manages to get stronger as he desires, do you think he would be able to reach your level of strength? Taking out enemies with one punch seems to be his mindset, and clearly, he won't be a quitter. So I ask again, How will he reach your strength?" Dr. Hayden asked as he crossed his arms. The Slayer turned his full body to Dr. Hayden, he then proceeded to type on the terminal with his left hand while looking at the doctor.
He won't
Those were the words typed out on the terminal. Dr. Hayden uncrossed his arms.
"I see… Well, if he doesn't, he will still be of aid to us. There is much we do not know of this world, we could learn more through him and see what this world has to uncover," Dr. Hayden said, trying to see the good side of bringing Saitama into the Fortress of Doom.
"Dr. Hayden, Slayer. Saitama has recovered. The healing pod finished its procedure," The voice of VEGA spoke. This caught Dr. Hayden and Slayer off guard slightly, though not expressing it outright, they were a little shook when the Healing Pod had finished its job so quickly.
"Already? The Healing Pod would take at least a full hour, possibly two given how severe his wounds were, especially the variety he inflicted. Were the pods upgraded at all recently?" Dr. Hayden asked.
"The Healing Pods have not undergone any maintenance or advanced additions. Saitama managed to recover in the pod in less than five minutes. While he was in the pod, I ran a full scan over his body. It would seem that a drive, or what some would call, a fighting spirit, motivated him in some form. However, this seemed to motivate more than just his mind as his body seemed to also recover with this spirit. I am unsure if this is confirmed, as this is a simple theory. But, Saitama has fully recovered from the Healing Pod and is on his way back into this section of the Fortress," VEGA explained. This definitely got The Slayer's attention. Fighting spirit? Was that possibly the reason why he healed so fast? The Slayer himself has a fighting spirit similar to that, only he never needed it to heal due to him almost never getting any kind of massive injuries… at least not any recently.
And then, Saitama came up the stairs and walked in the large section of the fortress.
"Wow… Cool place, I never thought I'd go to space," Saitama said, who was no doubt completely recovered from the injuries he'd taken. Injuries that should have been lethal if not fatal. Let alone take hours to heal, even with the healing pod. But, here he was, fully recovered and up to stamina.
Saitama was quick to look at Dr. Hayden and the Slayer down further near the center of the area. Saitama flinched as he was quick to rush to his supposed Master who watched him run straight to him. Saitama stopped a few feet from the Slayer, standing straight and acting formally. Trying to act professional.
"Uhm… Master… Sir," Saitama said awkwardly. He was sweating crazily, sweat dripped from his cheeks and his chin. His whole body felt like it was about to collapse from the sheer stress he was feeling. That only worsened when the Slayer only stared at him, saying nothing, and only looked at him. Saitama tensed up a little more. Dr. Hayden looked at the two for a short moment, until he decided it was time to say something due to the awkwardness.
"Anyhow, Saitama, it was rude of us not to explain where you are and who we are," Dr. Hayden said as he butted in on the Master and new Disciple moment. However, this didn't seem to settle down Saitama as he kept looking at his master, still tense. The Slayer looked at Saitama with a dead stare, unable to make out his expressions or face. The Slayer then looked to Dr. Hayden then slowly went back to Saitama. Until he began to slowly walk away over to the other side of the terminal. The terminal on the left side of the small area.
Saitama let himself relax, taking in a light exhale.
"Yeah, knowing who you guys are… and where I'm at could be helpful. Oh and, I know you know my name already, but, I figured I might as well tell you. My name is Saitama, and I want to be a hero for fun," Saitama said, extending his hand out to Dr. Hayden for a handshake. Dr. Hayden politely took Saitama's hand and shook it.
"A pleasure, Saitama. I believe VEGA introduced himself to you, did he not?" Dr. Hayden said.
"Oh, the AI Guy, yeah, VEGA seems like a cool guy. Or… Program… Or… Whatever he is… Did that come off as rude… Sorry," Saitama said as he placed his hand on his face.
"It is quite alright, Saitama. If you prefer to call me AI Guy as a nickname, I would be happy to go by that. And to put your mind to rest, I am a heavily advanced AI dedicated to assisting the Slayer and Dr. Hayden in eliminating Demonic Threats. A statement I made earlier, when your wounds were at large," VEGA said casually to Saitama.
"Yeah that's okay, thanks for the explanation though. And I'll call you by the nickname if you're cool with it. But until then, I'll just call you VEGA until… well… whenever's the right time for that," Saitama said to the AI.
"Your terms are acceptable, Saitama," VEGA said quite politely. Saitama then turned to look at his supposed Master, who seemed to be writing something down on a piece of paper with a pen. Saitama looked back at Dr. Hayden who took notice of Saitama's indirect question.
"Ah, yes. This is The Doom Slayer, possibly the most powerful being in all the multiverse. He is sworn to hunt down the demon forces of Hell. Something that even the demons fear… However, this is the first time I've ever seen The Slayer take on a disciple before, so I'm entirely uncertain what plans he has for you. But, it's safe to assume it has to do with intense and dangerous regimes. And this is where we get to you being his disciple…" Dr. Hayden said as he looked back at Saitama. Who looked on in rather shock that he was being trained by one of the most powerful beings in the MULTIVERSE… It truly was an actual honor to say the least. But, Dr. Hayden seemed concerned.
"Saitama… I must warn you, The Slayer is both unrelenting, ruthless, and cold in multiple aspects. His training will by all accounts, be absolutely dangerous, if not life threatening… You could die doing something that isn't worth it when you are so young, and have so much of your life left… I must warn you, the Slayer will not make this easy for you… and especially won't-" Dr. Hayden was cut off when the Slayer walked by him and handed Saitama the paper he had supposedly written something down on. He held it out to Saitama in his left hand. Saitama looked at it and then took it. And on it, was a list… A list of…
"100 push ups, 100 sit ups, 100 squats, a 10 kilometer run, stay in the sun as much as you can, keep air conditioning off in the summer and the heat off in the winter, eat a banana in the morning and stay healthy. Do this for 6 months and come back to me. We'll see how you've progressed…" Saitama read the piece of paper out loud.
Silence filled the room as Saitama stared at the piece of paper. Until, Dr. Hayden broke the silence with a large…
"WHAT!?"
