Chapter 2: Recovery and Exploration
The next day, inside a building, a figure was sitting on a chair, looking at some monitors in front of him, as he had his hand under his chin, deep in thought. What makes him different was how he has a connected to his cheek, along with having some big scars over where his eyes should be, as well as not having any hair on his head. Before the figure could ponder any further, one of the screens blurted an alarm, slightly causing the figures attention.
"Hmmm...?" The figure questioned with curiosity. He took a look at the screen and saw that the scanners had picked up something. "What's this? A large energy disturbance on the outskirts of Yavin city. Interesting." The figure said as he started to grow curious about what could have caused the energy surge. Suddenly, another screen started to blare out as the figure turned towards another screen to see someone was calling him. The figure accepted the call as two different videos were being put up, one with a figure with a bushy mustache, glasses over his eyes, with a dark background area behind him.
While another part of the screen showed a dimly lit bar, with two figures in it. One of the figures was a young male with light blue, all black clothing, and red shoes with black laces and white bottoms, while having a lot of severed hands over his arms and 2 on his head, one over his face and one behind his head. And the second figure is a man covered in a purple and black smoke with yellow glowing eyes, and wearing clothes that resemble a gentlemen as well as wearing a metal brace over his entire neck, while cleaning out a glass cup with a rag.
"Master, I take it that you already picked up on the energy signature?" The doctor questioned.
"Indeed, I have." The scarred figure replied. "I must say, in all my life, I have never seen this large of an energy displacement in all my life." The scarred man said.
"What are you even talking about, master?" The hand man asked.
"The scanners were just able to pick up a massive energy surge last night, just in the outskirts of Yavin city." The man answered.
The hand man just scoffed at that answer. "Oh please, like that's anything important to me. I'm sure it was just some useless nobody that just used his quirk." The hand man rudely said.
"Maybe so Tomura Shigaraki, but if this was the work of a powerful quirk, then maybe it can be of use for your future schemes, as well as for the doctor to experiment with." The man said to the now identified man.
Shigaraki was mostly in thought, and figured his master was on to something. "Maybe so, master."
"Excellent. Now, all we have to do is go over to the location and see what caused that energy signature. Doctor?" 'Master' asked the doctor.
"You didn't have to ask me anyway, master. Allow me to grab my gear, but I will need to find a means of transportations." The doctor replied.
"Of course. Shigaraki, may I kindly ask if the good doctor can burrow Kurogiri for a moment to check out the area?" 'master' asked.
"Ever since you asked so nicely. Kurogiri, go warp over to the doctors' location and help him with what he needs." Shigaraki asked the fogged villain.
"If that is what you wish, Tomura Shigaraki." Kurogiri replied as he used his quirk to make his body into a body as he entered himself towards the doctor's location.
"Very good. Now all we have to do now is wait until they come back with the data." 'Master' said.
"I just hope that this little search doesn't become a waste of time." Shigaraki said, slightly complaining.
"We shall see, young Tomura. We shall see." The man said as he made a chuckled grin.
Meanwhile, back at Yavin city, Edgeshot was still patrolling the city as he was jumping rooftop after rooftop. Soon he came to an immediate stop as he looked over the city. He was taking in the view as he suddenly felt a familiar presence behind him.
"You can come out now. There's no point in hiding from me." Edgeshot said as if he was talking to an invisible person. Suddenly, someone came behind the corner of the roof, revealing to be a man with a tired expression with long shaggy black hair, irritated black eyes, baggy black clothes and boots, as well as a white scarf, covering a pair of bright yellow goggles.
"Seems like I can't get the jump on you as always, can I Edgeshot?" The mysterious man asked with tiredness in his voice as he gave a small smile. Edgeshot returned the smile with his own as he went over and gave the man a handshake.
"It's good to see you again, Eraser." Edgeshot said. "Not that I'm happy to see you again, but what are you doing here in Yavin? Shouldn't you be back at U.A. and have your students be ready for the finals?" He asked.
"That's the question I was asking myself as well, but apparently, the principle and the rest of the other pros said that I was working myself too hard, and suggested that I would take a small leave of absence." Eraser said, with small disdain in his voice.
"Well, given how I know you all too well, I'm sure that you'll be giving them a harsh lesson if they ever take it easy once you get back." Edgeshot said with a smirk behind his mask.
"Of course. Someone has to teach those problem children a lesson, or else I'll have to expel them." Eraser said as he had an evil happy expression on his face.
But before their conversation could continue anymore, both heroes started hearing a ringtone as Edgeshot looked down at his uniform, looking to grab his phone out of his pocket and looked at who was calling him. He looked at the screen and saw it was the Hero Public Safety Commission calling him. The Ninja hero soon accepted the call as he had his phone over his ear.
"This is Edgeshot, go ahead." Edgeshot instantly responded.
"Edgeshot, are you still in Yavin city?" A female voice said on the other end of the phone.
"Yes, I still am, and Eraser Head is with me right now." Edgeshot answered.
"Good, because we got a mission for you." The female said.
"What kind of mission?" Edgeshot asked.
"Last night, our scanners picked up a huge energy surge miles away from the city, and we want you to go there and see what could have caused it. Can we count on you to do that?" The lady asked.
"Of course, I'll head down there right away, just send in the location of the surge." Edgeshot answered.
"Good. We'll be sure to send an investigation team there later to find out what energy was used. The location will be sent to you shortly." The woman said.
"Understood. Edgeshot out." The Ninja hero soon hung up from the call as he looked at his fellow colleague. "I don't suppose you want to tag along and investigate with me?" Edgeshot asked.
"Well, given how I'm with you right now, so wouldn't have it any other way." Eraser said as he soon put on his goggles over his eyes, and soon he and Edgeshot made their way towards the area.
As the sun was shining over the forest, the young man was lying on the ground as he began to stir.
"Uuuugghhh..." The person said as he unknowingly used his good arm to roll himself onto his back. "My head..." he started to sit up, but immediately stopped when he felt some pain in his chest. Grrrggghh..." He growled as he held his chest with his hand. He soon notices that his body was mostly hurt, seeing the bruises and torn clothing on his suit. "What happened... How did I get here?" he asked. Soon he suddenly remembered what happened.
(Flashback)
"It's over ninja! For I have won!" A being said as he was standing over other figures, each with a different color. One was green, one was blue with yellow outlines, one was white with light blue lining, black with some orange, grey with sky blue, and red with some yellow. From there, the young man with silver and black outlines was kneeling down on one knee, as he was exhausted and was in pain. He looked over to where the others are and looked towards a round stone with dragon details in the center of a machine, creating a dark mist around the area with purple lightning. The figure closed his eyes, knowing what he had to, as he held his weapon, resembling a spear, and used it to help himself up.
"It's not over yet, because ninja never quit!" The man said as he opened his eyes, burning with determination and shining as he started to spin his body, becoming a silver tornado as he charged towards the villain. But the villain dodged the attack, soon the figure stopped spinning.
"Hahahahaha! Do you call that an attack?!" The being said as he was laughing until he realized what he just did, and seeing how the ninja was close to the item. The figure in green was starting to recover, as he soon saw the other ninja was close to the item, instantly realizing what he was about to do.
"That wasn't an attack, I just needed you to move and make a wide enough window." the warrior said as he raised his weapon over the medallion. NNNNNOOOOOOOO!" The being screamed as he ran over towards the ninja to try and stop him from destroying the artifact.
"Luke, don't!" The ninja in green screamed, but it was too late. "GGRRRRAAAAHHHH!" The silver ninja screamed his lungs out as he swung his weapon and destroyed the artifact, just as the being was just an inch away from him. The destruction caused a massive shockwave of light, sending everyone flying back from the force and briefly blinding the green ninja.
Just as the shockwave started to expand, a portal opened and was able to suck the silver warrior in, then remembering the very last thing before he blacked out.
(End Flashback)
"Oh... That's what happened." The man, now known as Luke, said as he slowly got up as he looked around his surroundings. "Where exactly in Ninjago am I?" he questioned as he soon took off his hood, revealing that he is a 15-year-old boy with a handsome face and with moderate long blonde hair. He soon reached his hand up towards his right ear, revealing to have an earpiece on him. "Hey dad, are you there?" He asked in the earpiece, but all he can hear is static. "Huh? Can anyone read me? Jay? Kai? Nya? Grandpa? Pixal? Anyone?" No response. "Shoot!" He exclaimed as he took out his earpiece to have a closer look, seeing how there were wires being exposed from the cover. "That energy wave must have damaged my comms or something." Luke said as he put the broken piece into his pouch.
As soon as he was about to take a step, he felt sudden pain from his body, as he started to lose his footing, but was barely able to catch his balance. "Nnngghh. Looks like I'm in no shape to make long distance travels." He said as he decided to rest and let his wounds heal. As he started to take it easy, he saw a shimmer out of the corner of his eye, which soon revealed to be a piece of rock with the carving of a dragon head on it, making him realize that it's a piece of the stone he had just destroyed. As soon as he put away the piece of rock and was about to rest up and heal, a strong gust of wind came blowing through, which caused him to be on guard. As he continued to back away from the area, his instincts told him that danger was on his left. He quickly turned in his direction, as he now saw a black and purple mist forming out of nowhere.
In any given circumstance or situation, he would usually be prepared to fight, but he can't freely move because of his injuries. So, with little choice he had, he jumped up and surrounded himself in an energy sphere with a vortex underneath as he began to fly all the way up to the tallest tree that he was close to, and disengaged the energy as he softly landed on tree branches, and hid away to see what is happening.
Soon, the mist started to dissipate as two people emerged from it. Luke blended in with the tree more as he could now see the two people more clearly. The one that emerged from the mist was an old man with no hair on him except for the bushy mustache on his face as he was wearing some goggles over his eyes, as well as a white coat over his body, and carrying a large bag on him, making him believe that he is some kind of doctor or scientist. The other figure soon came up where the portal used to be, revealing to be another man, but what surprised Luke the most was how he was covered in the same stuff as that mist, was also a metal brace over his entire neck, as well as presentable clothes. Luke can only guess why these people are here and how they were able to appear out of nowhere.
"Doctor, are you certain that these are the correct coordinates?" The mist man asked.
"Of course, Kurogiri. This is the exact place where the surge originated." The doctor answered as Luke looked at them as they were confused about what they're even saying.
'The surge?' Luke asked himself as he suddenly pieced the pieces together. 'Oh, they must mean the portal that I came out of.' Soon, the doctor grabbed some equipment out of the bag and started to scan the area. 'Are they trying to scan the portal's energy signature?' Luke asked himself that question as he got a bad feeling that these two are up to no good.
"Fascinating! I have never seen energy like this before, and yet even though we've only started collected samples, the computers scanners are saying that they hold incredible power!" The doctor exclaimed in happiness.
"We don't know how long until the heroes arrive and scan the area, how much more do we need to collect?" Kurogiri asked as the doctor continues to extract samples of the energy.
"Don't you worry Kurogiri, just a few more minutes and we'll be out of here before anyone could even figure out that we were even here." doctor assured as unbeknownst to them, they were being watched as Luke was starting to look concerned for what's going on.
'Based on what they're saying, it sounds like these two don't belong here.' Luke deduced quietly, until he remembered what this Kurogiri figure said. 'Wait, did that cloud guy just say heroes?' He asked himself.
A few minutes later, the two men collected enough data and decided pack up the equipment. "Alright Kurogiri, I think we have enough data to study, soon master All for One will be pleased." The doctor said as Kurogiri activated his quirk to open a portal, shocking Luke, as the doctor stepped through and then vanished. Soon, Luke came out of his hiding spot, grabbed the handle out of his back. Then, the handle began to shift and glow silver, as the handle has transformed into a hook with a dragon design on it. Soon Luke fired the hook, leaving a chain of silver energy, onto the branch he was standing on and swung off, slowly descending towards the ground thanks to the chain.
As soon as he landed on the ground, he retracted the chain hook as it turned back to normal and Luck putting it the item back to where it belonged. "Master All for One?" Luke asked himself. "Something tells me those were the bad guys?" Logan guessed as he looked to where the portal was. "How was that guy even able that, he couldn't have been an elemental master. Could he?" Luke asked as he was momentarily thinking. "I have a bad feeling that I'm not in Ninjago anymore." He said as the wind blew once more as he turned to his backside.
"Something tells me I'm about to have some visitors. I think now would be a good time to leave right now." Luke said as he brought out his dragon hook again and started to use it to swing onto the branches and beginning to where the wind was blowing.
A few minutes after Luke left, Edgeshot and Eraser finally made their way towards the location, they made sure to hold the fort and wait until the scientists arrived. A few moments later, several vehicles came rolling up as many people started to get out of their cars and set up the equipment to study the area. Several moments passed, and the investigation team were all done as they collected all the data they needed.
"So, what do we got?" Eraser asked one of the leading investigators.
"I don't know how to say this, but for the last ten years of my whole career, I have never seen energy like this before." He responded which gave Eraser a raised eyebrow.
"How so?" Eraser challenged.
The investigator just sighed from this. "Well, we checked the data, and it's unusual because so far there have been no parts or marks to know that this wasn't the work of a machine."
"That's simple enough." Eraser said.
"But there's more to it, after getting a complete scan of the energy residue, the energy from the scanners show that this wasn't just some discharge, but also because of how this doesn't match with any known energy on our charts." The investigator said, getting both heroes interested.
"Are trying to say that this was the job of someone who was overloading their quirk?" Edgeshot asked.
"Even if it was, then there would have been actual damage to the area." Eraser quickly pointed out.
"So, the real question is... Who could generate that kind of power?" The investigator as they pondered. Meanwhile, just as one of the minor scientists was packing up the equipment, he soon saw that the scanner was acting up. So, he took a look and saw the scanner was specifically leading him somewhere. So, he looked at the readings and saw something that allowed his eyes to bug out. He soon started running to where his boss was.
"Chief!" They all turned towards the scientist as he soon got close enough to them. "You're not going to believe this, but I found more of that energy." he exclaimed, causing the group to immediately follow as they soon came across a trail.
"If I'm reading these charts correctly, then the energy must be moving." The scientist said as he was reading the data.
"Looks like we just found our lead." Edgeshot said.
"Hold on, where exactly does that trail lead to?" The investigator said as they suddenly realized the same thing.
"That trail leads all the way back to Yavin City!" Eraser realized as he started to make his move and head back towards the city while Edgeshot stayed behind to give out instructions.
"Listen up, I want you to send word out to the police in the city to look out for any suspicious activity, and make sure that the heroes are to keep their guard." the Ninja hero instructed.
"Yes sir." the Investigator replied as Edgeshot soon dashed his way to catch up with Eraser.
Luke soon came across a slight problem as he soon ran out of branches to swing on, so he returned his weapon into standby mode and started to walk. The only problem was that his limbs still hurt, so he was trying to limp his way to where the trail was taking him. Even though his body still hurts from the fight he was last in, he started to feel less pain after every mile he had taken.
"Man, I really hope there a town near here, because I don't know how long I can keep my leg moving." He complained as he soon came across a hill in front of him, soon he traversed and came across a view of a city.
"Yes, salvation." He dramatically said as he knelt onto his knees and was about to continue moving until he was stopped by a realization. "Aww man, I can't go in there while in my suit, they'll be on me the moment they spot me." He grumbled to himself as he tried to think of something, until the sight of a used item bin gave him an idea.
He soon came across a backpack that was still in somewhat good condition, he soon swapped his ninja outfit with a pair of jeans, worn out sneakers, a black shirt, and a recently tossed out silver jacket. After putting his ninja suit into the backpack, he clipped his weapon onto the backpack's strap and made his way towards the city.
Once he entered the city, he was amazed for what he was seeing, not only some stores that had some awesome items, amazing smells from food stands, but also because of some of the people have different appearances, like how their bodies look like rocks, and how most of them resemble animals. The last thing that shocked him was how some of these people were almost characters out of a comic book. As Luke was continuing his sightseeing, he wasn't paying much attention to where he was going.
"Ooofff" Luke said as it felt like he bumped into someone as the person he bumped into lost their hold on a few items.
"Oh man, I am so sorry. I was so distracted with the city that I wasn't paying attention to where I was going." Luke said as he started to pick up the mess he made along with the person he bumped into.
"I guess it's alright. I mean, you were just having some fun for exploring the place." The person, who sounds like the girl, said as if they were about to unintentionally touch the last item dropped on the ground. Once their hands were close to each other, they suddenly looked at each other in the eyes.
For Luke, he saw a beautiful young girl with teal eyes and orange hair tied into a single ponytail. As for Kendo, she could see that the person that bumped into her was a handsome boy with blond hair and silver eyes. Unbeknownst to these two, this will be the start of a great adventure.
