Yeah idk. Trying to scratch that NatsuxIrene itch I have for some reason and I decided today was the day. So weird I still care about fairy tail in 2024 I gotta get checked or something fr.
The moon hung low over the war-torn battlefield, the final embers of the battle between the Spriggan 12 and Fairy Tail fading into the night. Natsu Dragneel stood amidst the rubble, his body aching but his spirit unyielding. Victory had seemed within reach, but he had underestimated Irene Belserion, the Scarlet Despair, a force unlike anything he had ever encountered.
A gust of wind swept through the clearing as Irene, with her crimson hair billowing behind her, descended from the sky. Her eyes glowed with a mixture of amusement and curiosity as she gazed upon Natsu, her opponent who had dared to stand against her. The tension between them was palpable, a battle of wills that extended beyond just their powers.
"You're stronger than I expected, Dragon Slayer," Irene said, her voice laced with intrigue. "But strength alone won't save you here."
Natsu, despite his exhaustion, cracked a grin. "I've got plenty more where that came from, lady. Don't think you can scare me."
Irene's lips curled into a sly smile. "Such spirit. I can see why you're Zeref's brother. But it's more than just that, isn't it? You're something special. Perhaps… more like me than you realize."
Natsu's eyes flickered with confusion, though he felt a strange connection to her. "What are you talking about?"
Irene's expression softened for a brief moment, her gaze turning inward as if lost in a distant memory. "We are both dragons, in our own ways. But while I embraced the dragon within, you've yet to understand its full potential."
Her words struck Natsu like a blow, and for a moment, he felt a flicker of doubt. He knew he was strong, but there was something about Irene's presence, her overwhelming power, that stirred something within him—something primal, ancient.
But Natsu was never one to back down. He clenched his fists, the flames of his magic roaring back to life. "I don't care how strong you are. I'll take you down, just like everyone else!"
Irene chuckled softly, her eyes gleaming. "You're so eager to fight, but there are other ways to test your strength." She stepped closer, her tone growing more intimate, almost seductive. "Do you really think defeating me is what you desire? Or perhaps... there's more you seek."
Natsu blinked, caught off guard by her sudden shift in demeanor. His heartbeat quickened as Irene drew closer, her presence overwhelming yet strangely magnetic. He had fought countless enemies, but this—this was different. He wasn't sure if it was the dragon within her that called out to him, or something else entirely.
"What are you trying to say?" he muttered, eyes narrowing, trying to mask his confusion.
Irene placed a finger under his chin, lifting his gaze to meet hers. "You're powerful, Natsu Dragneel. But there's more to power than brute force. Imagine what you could achieve... if you embraced the dragon inside you, the way I have. You could be unstoppable."
Natsu's flames flickered, a heat rising in him that had nothing to do with his magic. "I don't need anyone to tell me how to be strong," he shot back, but his voice lacked its usual certainty.
Irene's smile deepened, her eyes dark and enticing. "Perhaps. But there's strength in understanding. And I... can help you understand." Her lips barely parted, her breath warm against his skin as her words whispered into his soul.
In that moment, Natsu was torn. His instincts screamed at him to fight, to resist, but something about Irene's words stirred him. Was it the dragon connection? Was it her power? Or was it something deeper, something primal that he didn't yet fully understand?
"I'm not like you," he finally said, but his voice wavered, as though he wasn't entirely convinced of his own words.
Irene's eyes flashed, a mixture of amusement and interest. "Perhaps not yet. But you will be. After all, dragons are drawn to one another."
She took a step back, her smile still lingering, but her aura shifted from temptation back to the formidable force she truly was. "I'll be waiting, Natsu Dragneel. When you're ready to embrace your true self... come find me."
Without another word, Irene turned and vanished into the night, leaving Natsu standing alone, the weight of her words heavy on his mind.
As he watched her leave, Natsu clenched his fists. He didn't understand it all yet, but one thing was clear—this wasn't over. There was something about Irene that called to him, something that stirred the dragon within. And he couldn't shake the feeling that their paths were destined to cross again.
Well there you have it so far. Coming back to this site feels nostalgic asf I never thought I would come back to fanfiction again lol but here we are. The crazy thing is I am not even such a fan for fanfiction but there is just something always missing with Fairy Tail as a whole that can only be satisfied with fanfiction and no other anime/manga has made me feel that (fortunately) but yeah in my opinion FT is definitely the best anime/manga to make a fanfic on since everything about it is so unsatisfying which my old kid self still cries about in his mind lol.
