Note: Ah, September. Not only does is it the first month of Fall, but it's also the next month for storywriters on here. With that in mind, that means new chapters and stories will be uploaded onto this website, including ones that might catch your eye. I've got plenty of stories up, so I have to update them every so often. Not only will Love Or Lust end this year, but the others will be updated. I might make a new story this month, but I'm not sure if I'll go through with it.

Now that that's out of the way, it's time for chapter twenty-nine.

Chapter 29: Two Teams Together

Now that he had escaped the Mighty Loonatics, Umbra needed somewhere to hide for the time being. Since they had defeated him, the mysterious being knew that he would need to come up with a new tactic for fighting against them. Even then, the original team had returned to Acmetropolis, which would prove to be a greater challenge than simply fighting one team at a time. If he were to fight them all at once, they would win the battle and capture him. As they had only seen him once, the entity figured that they were expecting him to pop up so they could fight again. With both teams of Loonatics on the same planet, Umbra figured that being on Acmetropolis was a bad idea.

Using his powers to open a portal, Umbra traveled from Acmetropolis to Freleng. He found an area where the army wouldn't find him, as they were searching for him due to his fraudulent acceptance letter he sent in order to separate the original Loonatics. Once he was somewhere no one could see him, the mysterious villain began to brainstorm a new strategy to fight against his new adversaries. Playing mind games and commanding his creations to attack them didn't work, so he needed to find a new way to fight them. He thought about creating an endless army of shadow monsters and sending them to fight the Loonatics while he attempted to steal the European Jewel, but he could only maintain control over the monsters while in proximity to them. Even if the entity was near his creations, they would still get destroyed by both teams.

Thinking about it for a moment, Umbra decided to train and increase the potential of his powers. He was intent on making his shadow monsters stronger and more durable, so that they wouldn't be destroyed so easily. Not only that, but the shadowy entity wanted to increase the number of monsters he could summon at once, so that they would overwhelm the Loonatics and the Mighty Loonatics. It would give him the opportunity to get the European Jewel and become stronger. Even if he currently didn't have it with him, the villain could still improve his skills and hone his control over them. All he needed was a place to train, then he would start practicing.

"You may have beat me, Mighty Loonatics," Umbra said to himself, "but that doesn't mean you'll win next time. The original team might be with you, but that doesn't mean your combined strength will triumph over my next attack. I'll train my powers for now, then I'll come back to Acmetropolis to defeat all of you at once!"

Using his powers, Umbra teleported off of Freleng, leaving nothing behind. While it let out a noise that got the attention of some passersby, he was successful in escaping. No one on the planet knew it yet, but they had been visited by a powerful villain, one that they wouldn't be able to stop. And, if he had managed to improve his powers and strengthen his strongest skills, no one would be able to stop him.

Meanwhile on Blanc, Zadavia was just walking through the Loonatics' HQ, then she froze. She had felt a presence from Freleng, but it wasn't something native to the planet. Rather, it was something from Acmetropolis that had managed to travel there. Unless someone had a spaceship or access to portal technology, it was impossible for anyone to head to the planet and escape in the same amount of time. It was clear that whoever this was had powers, and they had enough power for Zadavia to sense them. However, she could tell that they weren't good, but rather a being of pure evil.

Making her way to the wormholes, Zadavia checked to see if one had been opened up recently. She knew the Loonatics had used one, but it was for them to head to Acmetropolis and aid the Mighty Loonatics. Other than that, no one else had used the machine. This was bad, given how the mysterious entity had jumped from Acmetropolis to Blanc without anyone noticing. If the team had seen his/her powers beforehand, then they would need all the help they could get. If this being was able to improve their powers, two teams of heroes wouldn't be enough to stop them.

"What are you doing here?"

Turning around, Zadavia saw Optimatus standing in the entrance. He looked somewhat rattled, as if he had sensed the presence on Freleng as well. Both he and Zadavia were from Freleng, so they were tied to the planet. As such, it was up to them to look for the mysterious being who had visited the planet without anyone noticing.

"Someone managed to teleport from Acmetropolis to Freleng, then left as soon as they arrived." Zadavia spoke. "It isn't Duck, because I could sense evil from them."

"Then it must be that deer from the new Loonatics." Optimatus suggested.

"No, it's not him, either." She said. "Whoever this is, they can teleport all throughout the universe without the need for portal technology. And I have no doubt in my mind that they are the one responsible for that fraudulent letter to the Frelengian Army."

"Then why aren't we doing something about this?!" He spoke. "We can't let that blighter travel throughout the galaxy and risk him becoming stronger!"

"I'll try to contact both teams of Loonatics!" The older woman said as she ran off. "Try to look through the data collected from the wormholes!"

Once Zadavia was gone, Optimatus accessed the operating system behind the wormholes. In the process, he installed an alarm that would go off whenever that mysterious being arrived on a planet. This would allow the Frelengians to find out where this entity was and open up a portal on Acmetropolis that the Loonatics and their successors could enter in order to fight him/her. Unless only one team could go, it was up to them to fight this villain and bring him/her to justice. If this villain managed to make his/her powers stronger, he/she would become a major threat to not only the universe, but to reality itself. That was something that couldn't happen, but it would unless the being was stopped for good.

As they had arrived back on Acmetropolis, the Loonatics decided to head back to HQ with the Mighty Loonatics in order to talk with them. The original team was relieved that their successors had found the villain responsible for the strange events that happened. However, they were a bit upset that the new recruits didn't bind their enemy and have the police take him away. In Duck's case, this was frustrating since neither team knew where the mysterious being could have went. The rest of the original Loonatics wanted to find him as well, but they couldn't leave Acmetropolis until another portal opened up. Even if one did, they doubted that the criminal they were chasing could be brought down by a team of six by themselves.

Upon entering HQ, the Loonatics sat down while the Mighty Loonatics stood. Both teams were completely silent, not knowing what to say after such an intense encounter. Even Rev was at a loss for words, knowing that there was a dangerous threat on the loose and no one knew where he could've gone. This new villain could've already gotten what he needed to fuel his evil plans, so that he could strike down the heroes when they least expected. If he hadn't, then he needed to be found before he could enact his plan and cause irreparable damage to the universe. Of course, the Loonatics and the Mighty Loonatics would need the right technology and weapons to defeat him.

"So, now we know the name of that villain and what his powers are." Lori spoke.

"But he teleported before we could take him in." John said.

"Well, no duh!" Duck spoke. "I mean, you were all putting the hurt on him and he managed to escape!"

"Duck, we distracted them, preventing them from capturing him." Lexi stated. "At the same time, they DID have him outnumbered, but didn't restrain him or knock him out!"

"We've been in situations where we outnumbered a villain, but they still managed to beat us the first time around!" The mallard countered. "Even though they beat us, we still managed to defeat them in the rematch and send them to jail! Of course, that was because NONE of them had the ability to teleport away before we could cuff them!"

"You-think-that-was-the-only-thing-separating-the-new-villain-from-the-ones-we-faced-in-the-past?!" Rev spoke. "Let's-not-forget-that-he-can-create-shadow-creatures-and-have-them-attack-people! I-saw-that-part-of-the-fight-from-the-ship!"

"I don't think I can create machines that would help us fight those monsters." Tech said. "Until I see more of them in action, we'll have to fight harder than we've ever fought."

"Are you kidding me right now?!" Jack spoke. "You're the team super genius and that is your BEST idea?! You can't even make a UV cannon that will destroy those creatures in an instant!?"

"Calm down, Jack!" Simon said.

"Yeah, not a good idea to yell at a genius." Klara said. "He does make the machines, after all."

While the others were arguing, Ace, Slam, Diane and Teagan were staying out of it. Ace was looking through HQ's data, checking to see if there was a distress signal or message. Slam let out the occasional grumble, trying to interrupt the heated conversation that was going on. Diane was silent, thinking about what she had learned while reading through Umbra's mind, which included something she never thought she would see. Teagan hoped to put her military training to the test during the next mission, so that it would keep a villain from gaining the upper hand during battle. Even if the next person they faced was more clever than a cat burglar, that didn't mean outsmarting them was impossible.

Suddenly, a message entered the comm link, which caught Ace's attention.

"Everyone, listen up!" He spoke. "There's no need to argue, because it's the faults of both our teams that this Umbra figure escaped! That being said, we shouldn't let failure keep us down! We should let it remind us to improve and do better from this point forward! I could say plenty of things to calm us down, but we've got a message on our communications hub! Now, if you will all be quiet and stop shouting at each other, let's see who could be calling us."

Both the Loonatics and the Mighty Loonatics stopped their heated argument and remained silent, not letting out a single word. This allowed Ace to answer the call, causing the screen to go to static. Colors soon appeared through the static, looking like they were going to form a shape. By looking at them, the veteran team and the new recruits knew who these colors were associated with, but they decided to be patient. The screen began to show a woman's face against the backdrop of a communications hub. Once the colors finished forming the image, the Loonatics and their successors saw a familiar face: Zadavia.

"Loonatics, are you there?" Zadavia spoke.

"Present and accounted for, Boss Lady." Ace said. "We've even got the rookies with us."

"Good, because I need all of you to stay on Acmetropolis for the time being!" She said. "The villain that you were chasing after had teleported to Freleng, but left before anyone saw him! I sensed him moving around, but his aura was strong enough for me to pick up without focusing!"

"Is he really that powerful?!" Simon asked.

"Man," Jack spoke, "if Zadavia could sense him when he's on a planet far from where she's standing, imagine what he could do if he becomes stronger!"

"Do you have a plan?" Teagan asked.

"I'm going to contact the Frelengian Army and tell them to double the guard and bring out their best soldiers in order to catch this mysterious criminal!" Zadavia said. "Optimatus is going to keep an eye out for him through the wormholes! If we are unable to stop him, then it's up to you to form an army to fight this menace!"

"Hopefully, we'll be able to unmask him, because we don't know this guy's real identity!" Lori said.

"This villain's one of those mysterious types." Duck spoke. "You know, the kind of criminal who prefers to keep their identity hidden, to the point where the heroes won't know who he is despite unmasking him?"

"But you don't have to worry about uncoverinh his identity, Zadavia, because we're going to do it when we beat him!" Jack said.

"If we CAN find him, that is!" Simon stated.

"For that matter, I wish all of you luck." Zadavia said. "Until then, Optimatus and I will be searching for him as well! Be careful, Loonatics and Mighty Loonatics!"

Upon hearing that, the Loonatics and a majority of the Mighty Loonatics left the room, intent on searching for Umbra. However, Diane and John stayed behind, much to Zadavia's curiosity. As much as she wanted to tell them to join the others and start looking, she didn't want to be rude. The Frelengian kept her communication device on, deciding not to leave until she heard the two out.

"What are you doing?" Zadavia asked. "Is there something wrong?"

"Diane and I know the real identity of the villain we're chasing after." John spoke. "She used her telepathy to scan his mind, then she showed me who he was."

"Who is he, Diane?" The Frelengian asked.

"He's an old associate of my father." Diane spoke. "I don't remember his name, and he was able to recover before I uncovered the memory of it, but I know that he was a former sniper with a degree in psychology and mental health. You should check each record of the soldiers who have served in the army here on Acmetropolis, so that you'll know who he is when you and Optimatus confront him."

"I'll do that." She said. "Now, be careful, you two! Don't get in a position where you could be separated from your teammates and fight back when you get in a dangerous encounter! Zadavia out!"

Once the message ended, Diane and John went to join their teammates and predecessors. From that point onward, the Loonatics and the Mighty Loonatics were in charge of finding Umbra and bringing him to justice. If given the chance, Diane would unmask him and reveal who he is to the entire universe. That was assuming Zadavia and Optimatus didn't catch the shadowy villain first, considering his power of teleportation. Whoever caught him first would be in charge of dealing with him, be it imprisonment or execution. But, before either outcome, Umbra would be unmasked.

Standing near the wormhole machine, Optimatus waited for one to open up, so that he could see what was coming through. If it was that villain, he would try to deal with him as quickly as possible. The Frelengian likely wouldn't be able to defeat him, but he would fight to the end. Zadavia would have to take over during the battle, but that didn't mean she would win either. As this villain had the power of teleportation, that meant he would escape before anyone could capture him. His other powers included monster conjuring, so he could summon an army of them to keep Zadavia and Optimatus at bay.

Thinking about the Loonatics, Optimatus had a feeling that they wouldn't be able to defeat this new threat to the galaxy either. The only member of the team who could teleport was Duck, but he was limited in his "Quacking". Granted, the Mighty Loonatics would be with them, but would they be able to capture the villain? Each of them had different powers, but that didn't mean the enemy could use his monstrous creations to keep them distracted while he escaped. That would give the mysterious being the opportunity to train his powers and increase their strength. If he did that, then he would be unstoppable.

Looking back at the wormholes, and knowing that the villain was on Freleng for a brief moment, Optimatus got an idea. All he needed to do was make a few calls when Zadavia was minding her own business. She knew about the individuals he had contact with, but she didn't think they would be willing to save the universe. However, Optimatus was aiming to prove her wrong in that regard. If the Loonatics and the Mighty Loonatics fell in battle, then other heroes needed to step up and fight the shadowy villain. While these individuals were from different planets, Optimatus figured that they would be willing to protect the universe they considered their home.

"Sorry, Zadavia," he said to himself, "but the Loonatics and the trainees aren't going to be enough. We need some more heroes."

Note: Who are these heroes that Optimatus is talking about? Can Zadavia contact the Frelengian army and tell them about Umbra? Will the Loonatics and the Mighty Loonatics encounter him again? Is Diane willing to share what she learned from the villain's mind with her teammates? What is his real identity? Can Optimatus' contacts arrive on Blanc arrive in time for Umbra to strike again?

Until next time, guys, this is ElectricWizard99, signing off. Peace!
