EDIT: Some of my paragraphs are missing and I don't know why. Fixing it right now!
Today is a beautiful day outside—birds are singing, flowers are blooming. On days like this, teens like them.
Should be having some fun!
And they did, but in the most boring way possible.
Team RWBY was just indulging in their hobbies inside their dorm. One rose-haired girl was playing a pixelated street fighter game on their high-tech television, another—a snow-like princess—was elegantly stress-studying on her holiday, and the last one—a goth girl—was reading a 'ninja' book full of questionable 'action' scenes while lying on her bed.
Overall, they were wasting their few days of holiday. They should've spent the remaining days in Vale instead of returning to Beacon after the Vytal Festival's preparation, but circumstances prevented that.
There had been some drama between Blake and Weiss, which escalated into stopping a thief working with a movement organization. Most of the issues were resolved, leaving them too tired to enjoy other activities. So, they thought, why not just return to Beacon and rest instead of paying for motel expenses?
All sorts of commute fees are free for huntsmen, and they could just go back to Vale once they were reenergized, right?
Unfortunately, their professor discovered their shenanigans on the way back—thus, they were immediately disciplined, grounded like children for their naughty behavior.
They should've booked a nearby motel back then, though it wouldn't have stopped the inevitable.
Well, it's not like they were exactly being cooped up in a room like misbehaved children. They were free to go anywhere in Beacon—the forge, the sparring room, the library, and even the massive ballroom inside Beacon.
However, they rarely visited the ballroom unless there was an important event or celebration. It was a place for making 'connections' and practicing 'business' among the high-class. Relationships and benefits could be prepared for their huntsman careers in the future.
But it was unlikely that Team RWBY would attend such eloquent gatherings.
To avoid rotting like vegetables in their room, the team leader finally spoke up and set down her gaming controller. With a groan, she whimpered to her team.
"Can't we apologize to Ms. Glynda and maybe convince her to... you know, release us from Beacon? Sure, we got into a little trouble, but we could promise not to... misbehave again, right? Maybe we could bake her cookies or something to change her mind, hehe." Ruby, the ever-optimistic one, suggested something outrageous.
Blake's ears twitched as she lay on her stomach on the bed, reading her book. Without even glancing up, she replied, strangely transfixed by her book.
"That's cute and all, but after that stunt we pulled a week ago? Normally, a slap on the wrist would suffice, but we were facing the... White Fang." Blake paused, flipping a page as she let her words sink in. "They've not only hurt people, but they've also done things that made me leave. We should be glad we were only facing grunts following a thief; otherwise, an average Fang leader would've been too coordinated and..." She sighed, as if the sound of defeat were heard.
"And become too 'radical' with their command, to say the least," Blake finished.
She hadn't realized she was now blankly staring at her novel, not quite reading it. But it was clear to Ruby that Blake was sad, her ears drooping. Was it really that bad inside the White Fang, who were once a peaceful activist group, that they would go that far?
"Oh... I'm sorry, Blake..." Ruby didn't expect things to turn dark.
"Hmm? Ah, I didn't mean to make it awkward. It's fine," Blake set her book down and smiled at Ruby to reassure her. "In the first place, it's my fault for dragging you guys into my affairs."
"Don't blame yourself like Ruby, you dunce." Weiss gently hand-chopped Blake's head, making Blake hiss.
"We tracked you down because I was inconsiderate, discriminatory, and a snob. So it's my fault. However, for you to go running off facing a terrorist group with your monke—, I mean, boyfriend, is something I will not get behind." Weiss folded her arms, scowling at Blake before she could refute.
"He isn't my... did you just call him a monkey?"
"H-Hmph, no... Anyway! I'm almost offended that you trusted that ruffian more than our team. It's understandable we had our differences... and most of them were my fault, but you have to take responsibility as well for being reckless. Therefore, let me pinch you a little." Weiss climbed up to the top bunk, reaching for Blake's ears, making her flinch.
"Mnph~!? Hang on...! You already did tha—" Blake was currently struggling to stop Weiss's hands, who was on top of her, from reaching her cheek and cat ears which were currently folded.
"Clearly, your compensation isn't enough to satisfy my ego as a just friend, wouldn't you agree?" Weiss said with a menacing smile. "Now hold still, your punishment is needed!"
"Ugh, Ruby. Weiss is being unfair. Help." Blake surprisingly spoke in an awkward voice with a tinge of red on her cheeks. "Please."
But before Ruby could help, she needed to ask. Like, really need to.
"Um, since when did you two become close?" Ruby asked.
Weiss paused, making her reflect suddenly. Blake escaped from being pinned down and huddled with her book in the corner of her bed, hissing.
"Hmm... It was when Yang insisted that Blake and I needed a little 'date' to fix our relationship."
"Date? You two were dating?!"
Ruby's mouth opened and closed in disbelief, looking at Blake, who was covering her face with a book, clearly flushed at Weiss's dense reply.
"Hm?" Weiss answered, "Yes, 'dating'. I was about to ask what that meant until Yang ran off... Um, Blake was strangely quiet during our 'date', but we got to know each other more."
Ruby had her mouth open and closing in disbelief, looking at Blake, who was covering her face with a book, clearly flushed at Weiss's dense reply.
"Uhh, Weiss... Do you really not know what that means...?"
'How does she even know what boyfriend means but not this?!'
Ruby's thoughts went on a spiral, forcing her to do mental gymnastics.
"Wha-what's that supposed to mean?!" Feeling bitter from Ruby's pity, Weiss confidently replied, "Are you indicating that I'm uncultured? Hmph, just so you know, I got first place in the spelling bee! I'm not illiterate enough to not know what that word meant from our little outing..."
"Sooooo," Ruby scratched her cheek, eyes darting around. "What does it mean, W-Weiss? If you don't mind me asking, hehe~"
"Um, I, it's— ahem, based on my experience with Blake," Weiss's hand gestured to Blake, "It's related to hanging out and getting to know each other... like family bonding and other stuff, of course?"
"Is tha-pftt— th-at, a q-question?" Ruby guffawed, struggling to be serious in front of Weiss for once.
"I swear I'm going to make you regret this humiliation...!"
"Ruby..." Blake somberly said, cheeks tinted a little in red. "As much as she's lacking context about dating, she's mostly right for the modern-trend meaning. Nowadays, dating can be associated with friends, commonly among best friends."
"Huh?! I thought you had to be romantically and sexually attracted to be doing tha—
"WHAT?!"
"Tell me Ruby is joking... right, Blake?" Red as a tomato, Weiss asked timidly. "Right, Blake?"
Ruby and Blake fell silent. They turned to Blake, whose face had turned tomato red.
"Yes... You finally found out." Blake reluctantly confessed.
She revealed it like a wife telling her husband she was pregnant. Unfortunately, that was far from the situation and only made things worse.
"Is- is that why you were so awkward during our..." Smoke practically came out of her head. "Sexually... romantically..." She covered her face, even her hands visibly red. "Yang's weird advice..."
"He-hey, Weiss. What's the big deal? I'm sure you've seen those romances in one of those hardlight television shows, right?" Ruby said reassuringly.
Weiss glared at Ruby. Inhaled, exhaled. She started to calm down.
"... Unlike you, I only got access to media and pop culture after I achieved freedom from my father." She frowned, releasing her hands from her face, her complexion returning to normal. "Even then, I had a lot of catching up to do with the proper terms and slang here in Vale. I also never had time for those movies you and Yang keep squealing about."
"That's because you're trying too hard to be a model student." Ruby plainly stated.
"Oh hush you. Breaking away from those habits is more painful than you think. Imagine getting banned from one of those fighting games you're currently playing—it's like that." Weiss chided. She glanced at Blake, redness creeping in. "Ju-just to be clear, the things Ruby said didn't count, you hear me." Fanning her cheeks to prevent the heat from rising again, she added, "That was just us getting to know each other..."
"I had fun." Blake simply nodded, then grinned happily. "You also had fun too, if I recall the happiness on your face when we were on that wheel." Blake smiled warmly. "I didn't know you could smile like that."
A direct attack. One that made Weiss, and even Ruby, skip a beat.
"AAAHHH, STOP!!" Weiss clearly cringing, "That- that's not the point! It was my first time going to an amusement park so...!"
Ruby hugged Weiss from behind, joining Blake on her bed to partake in the shenanigans, a bit too intimately for Weiss's comfort.
Weiss tilted her head towards Ruby's shoulder.
"Ruby?!"
"Seeing Weiss like this kinda makes me jealous..." Ruby pouted. Before Weiss could refute, she continued, "Let's go on a date next time, Weiss! I've never been on one either, so this would be a first for both of us!" Ruby said, making Weiss even more speechless from the embarrassment.
"Ru-Ruby, that was jus—"
"And also," Ruby leaned closer to Weiss's ear, her breath tickling Weiss's skin. It made Weiss shiver.
"I want to see your smile too. I'm your partner, after all."
"EEKKK!" The stimulation was too much for Weiss— "LE-LET GO, YOU—YOU—?!"
A hand grasped hers. It was gentle too. Weiss turned to face the source in horror.
"If you don't mind," Blake said, holding Weiss's hand like a prince proposing to a princess, looking intensely into Weiss's eyes. Weiss could only hold her breath, unsure of what was about to happen.
"I'd also like to get to know you more, the side of you that makes me feel warm, our Ice-Princess."
Weiss's position made it look like Blake kissed her hand, though Blake was only hovering close, making a "kiss" sound. It was clear she was teasing, but Weiss is too lightheaded to realize.
Blake winked at Weiss, who was staring at her, utterly flustered.
Weiss felt like she might faint at any moment. The warmth from the situation was overwhelming, as if her soul were leaving her body from the hot stimulation. Red like tomato, drained from heat. She could only pray for a miracle.
Then, a miracle answered.
"Hiiyaaa, girls~! Guess who's back from myyy~ detention!" Yang, the golden-haired light of salvation, peered into Blake's bunk bed.
"What in the lesbianism is going on here?!"
"Ya—ang," Weiss called out desperately, tears welling up as she reached out to her savior..
"Help me!"
A/N: I kinda forgot which bunk bed Blake was supposed to be in... Anyhow, enjoy this wholesome chapter, 'cause the next chapter will be a reaction to Arknights—particularly a fan-made content that made me cry myself to sleep. Never played Arknights, so I'll be relying on the wiki for explanations—or perhaps you could share some lore that the RWBY characters might be interested in? Well, it's all good fun, so there's no need for them to be too serious...
Or will they?
Muahahah! Tragedy-reaction fanfic! Seaborne invasion goes BRRRRR!!
