Ch. 2

Lincoln woke up early Sunday morning; the excitement of potentially getting to meet his new housemate was overwhelming. Lincoln spent a good hour and a half this morning cleaning up his room just in case he got the chance to show Alyssa his room and introduce himself to her.

Meanwhile downstairs Lynn Sr. was on the phone with Brad Johnson, the social worker, to try to get everything settled and get Alyssa home; or at least a place that she could call home for as long as she needed to. "Brad, I really appreciate you pulling the extra strings to get this done sooner."

"Of course Lynn. I know Alyssa will appreciate it as well." Brad started. "Her life at her current house isn't the best but I more than trust you and Rita to provide a loving and secure household."

"I hope the adjustment isn't too much for her. Not every house has ten children in it. I know she's going to be overwhelmed for a while."

"I trust you Lynn. I also trust Rita. Most of all, I trust you guys to have raised all those kids to be loving, welcoming kids who will hopefully understand."

"I appreciate it Brad, I really do."

"Of course. All the paperwork is done, I am going to put you on hold and give Alyssa a call, and then get back to you with the meet date and time."

"Awesome, sounds great!"

"Alrighty, I'll be right back," Brad said before switching lines and giving Alyssa a call.

The line rang for a while but eventually someone picked up.

"Hello?" A quiet voice said.

"Alyssa? This is Brad, your social worker. We've been in contact about you getting moved into a new home."

"Hi," was all Alyssa could get out. She hadn't wanted to get her hopes up, she had already had several disappointments trying to move away from this home she was staying at. She had come to terms with it. Sure, she might've been sleeping on a mat on the ground, sure there were days that she didn't get to eat because her foster parents treated her worse than their own kids, sure she was treated like dirt compared to the people she hoped to call her siblings, but at least she had a roof over her head and food in her belly, (most of the time.)

Who was she kidding, Alyssa might've had her doubts with all the failed attempts Brad had to get her out of the hell hole she was stuck in, she still had a sliver of hope. A small voice in the back of her head telling her to keep hope, to not give up on the dream she had.

"Sweetie, I've got some great news for you! The Loud family was more than happy to accept you. We're getting you out of there!" Brad said, smiling ear to ear. Being a social worker was not easy work, there were so many difficult moments that he endured, but the moments like this; well, they made it worth it. "I know the Louds personally, it will be an adjustment, their house is nothing like you've ever lived in before, but I know that they are going to love and take care of you."

On the other side, Alyssa was crying. Tears of joy streamed down her face. The moment she dreamed of, hoped for, was finally here. She was getting out of her abusive house and into one that was supposed to be loving and welcoming. She was so excited. "Thank you Brad." she cried. "Thank you so much."

"Of course Alyssa. Now sweetie, when do you think you'll be ready to move?"

"I can be packed and ready in an hour. I don't exactly have a lot of stuff to move out." As sad as it was, it was true. All Alyssa had was a few old and dirty outfits, an old hair brush she knew wasn't clean, and the few school supplies that the school provided for kids unable to obtain them themselves.

"The Louds live about 40 minutes away from you, I can tell them to come get you whenever you like."

"I want to be out of here as soon as possible." Alyssa said, still trying to control the flow of tears flowing from her eyes. "I hate it here."

"I will get them over as soon as they can." Brad said. "Pack up what few things you have and let your foster parents know what's happening. They'll be there as soon as they can."

"Ok, I'll get right on it." Alyssa said. "Bye Brad."

"Bye Alyssa. Best of luck. I will call you every couple days to check in, ok?"

"Yes. Thank you!"

"Bye sweetie."

Alyssa hung up the phone and started running around the house in circles happier than she'd felt in a long time. Thankfully, her foster parents weren't home, or they'd ask what made her so happy and then put her to work doing obscene chores. Alyssa grabbed her school notebook and tore out a page before sitting down at the dining table and writing a message to her foster parents.

Dear "Mom" and "Dad"

You're probably wondering where I am right now, not that you actually care about my well-being, but because you are wondering why I didn't do all the bullshit chores you left me this morning while you took the kids you actually liked to the zoo. Lucky for me, I am getting taken in by another home. My social worker knows them personally and says that they will treat me with love and respect and welcome me with open arms, something you assholes never did.

I sincerely hope you assholes burn in hell for all the shit you put me through. Have fun doing all the nasty work that you pawned off on me, because I know your spoiled brats that you call kids ain't gonna do em.

Today is the happiest day of my life.

Rot in hell,

Alyssa

While admittedly being harsh in her note, she didn't regret a single thing she wrote. She truly hated those people that she was supposed to call her parents. Now she gets to go live with a family that will treat her right.

"Hello? Lynn? Are you still there?" Brad asked.

"Yes! Yes Brad, I'm still here."

"Awesome. Alyssa is ready to go whenever you can go get her. She doesn't have a lot of possessions she needs to bring over so don't anticipate a ton of lifting."

"Oh. Well I guess Rita and I will head over there then. Thank you so much Brad, you have no idea what this means to Rita and I."

"And you have no idea how much what you're doing means for Alyssa. Now I gotta let you go so you can go get her out of that bad home and into a good one."

"Alright. Thanks again Brad."

"Not a problem, talk to you later Lynn."

"Bye."

Lynn hung up the phone and turned towards his wife who was partially listening to the conversation, and partially working on her next novel.

"Get changed Rita, it's time to go get Alyssa."

Rita shot up from her chair before saying, "Yay! Let's go!"

"I'm gonna go give the kids the rundown while you change." Lynn said as he walked out towards the living room. "KIDS, FAMILY MEETING NOW!" he yelled, capturing the attention of all eleven kids. They poured down the stairs and out into the family room eager to know what was so important. "Kids, in a few minutes your mother and I are going to go get Alyssa and bring her home."

A roar of excitement came from the group as everybody celebrated.

"KIDS!" Lynn Sr yelled, quieting the group. "There's several things you need to know about Alyssa before she gets here. Her house that she's staying in right now is not the best. Brad told me that she's struggling and doesn't have a ton to bring here. I bring that up because I don't want you guys berating the poor girl with questions about her old home when she has been hoping for a way out of it for far too long. That's the last thing she wants to think about. Second, Alyssa has obviously never been in a house this full. This is going to be an adjustment for her that is going to take some time. I know that you are all eager to try to spend some time with her and introduce yourselves to her and welcome her, but give her the space she needs. She's going to need it more than you guys have probably ever needed it for a while; please please please be patient with her."

"Ok Dad. We understand." Lincoln said. "So what's the plan for today with her?"

"Well I will have to discuss this with your mother during the drive, but there's a good chance we are going to need to take her to get some new clothes. I'm okay with a couple of you going with your mother and Alyssa if need be. Maybe Lori and Leni can go."

Rita walked out of her and Lynn's bedroom beaming with excitement, "Ready to go?" she asked Lynn.

"Yes dear, just laying some ground rules for the kids." Lynn Sr. said. "Behave kids, we will be back."

And just like that Rita and Lynn were off to rescue Alyssa from her horrible living environment.

Alyssa had gotten all of her things in a cardboard box she found in the garage and plopped it on the front porch while she sat next to it, awaiting her new parents. She didn't care how long she had to sit outside in the cold February air, she just wanted to be out of the house. So many bad memories flowed through her head, scrubbing every inch of that house while her host family sat around watching, shoveling the driveway wearing nothing but an old knitted sweater because they refused to buy her a coat, things she never wanted to think about again, things she hoped she'd never have to do again. If this family she was going to was as good as Brad made them seem, she might finally be able to find a house that she could willingly call home.

After another 15 minutes of waiting a van pulled up to the house. The van, a weird greenish-blue that was huge. The thing looked like a school bus. Two people stepped out of the car, one being a man who appeared to be balding on top alongside a woman with long blonde hair.

"Hello? Are you Alyssa?" The man called out. Alyssa nodded back in response as she continued to scan the pair. "Alyssa, my name is Lynn Loud. This is my wife Rita, we're here to take you to our home and be your new foster parents."

That was good enough for Alyssa who happily grabbed her box and brought it towards the van. Lynn walked over and took the box from Alyssa and brought it back to the trunk.

Rita walked over to Alyssa and introduced herself. "Hi sweetie, my name is Rita, and we're so excited to bring you home. There's some people at home that are very excited to meet you."

"Some people? What's that mean?" Alyssa asked.

"Yes, Lynn and I have 11 kids at home. You'll be 12." Rita said. "I'll tell you all about them during the drive. Come on kiddo, hop in Vanzilla."

"Vanzilla?" Alyssa asked as she jumped in the car and buckled in.

"Yup, Vanzilla. That's her name." Lynn said. "You ladies ready to hit the road?"

Alyssa looked forwards at him with a smile. The smiles she received from Lynn and Rita were already much more caring than anything her previous home had offered her. She was daunted by the 11 kids that she was going to have to get accustomed to at her new home but Alyssa already had a feeling that she was going to like her new life with the Louds.

"Are you hungry hun?" Rita asked. "Have you eaten today?"

"No, but it's ok. I don't eat a lot." Alyssa said. "My old parents didn't always have enough food for everybody and their kids came first."

Rita's heart broke. "Aww sweetie, I'm so sorry. Let's get her some food Lynn." She said to her husband. "I promise you'll never go hungry in our house. Lynn over here is a chef and has his own restaurant."

"Really? That's so cool!" Alyssa said. "What do you do Mrs. Loud?"

"First off, you can call me Rita, and secondly I'm a writer."

"Cool." Alyssa said. "Can you tell me about all your kids now?"

"Well there's a lot to talk about so we'll try to be quick about everybody." Lynn said. "Oldest is Lori, she's 18 years old, she's in college. She's our eyes and ears when we aren't home and she does a great job at it. Next is Leni, she's 17 years old. Her and Lori are super close, they were best friends as kids and still are today. Leni is super into fashion and everything pop culture. Third is Luna. Luna is 16 years old and she's the rockstar musician of the house. She's always playing her guitar or listening to rock music. Next is Luan. She's 15 years old and she's the family comedian. The class clown if you wanted to call her that. She's always ready to turn something into a corny pun. Next is Lynn Jr. She's 14 and she's super sporty. She plays every sport you could think of and is always ready to wrestle with somebody. In the middle is Lincoln. He's 12 years old, just a few months older than you, and he's the wildcard of the group. He has his own hobbies like reading comic books and playing video games, but he spends time doing things with all 10 of his sisters and he could be considered the glue that holds everybody together. After Lincoln we have Lucy. Lucy is 9 years old and is into everything scary. She loves ghosts, vampires, spell books and stuff like that. She writes poetry and loves jump scaring people so keep and eye out for that. After her we have the twins, Lola and Lana who are both 7. While they are twins, they couldn't be more different, Lola is a perfectionist and competes in beauty pageants and loves being a princess. Lana on the other hand, is the tomboy of the bunch, she loves getting her hands dirty, playing with animals, getting in the mud and all that. After them we have Lisa. Even though Lisa is only 5, she's still the brains of the group, she's super into science and spends all of her time working in her room. And our youngest is Lily, she's two years old and doesn't really have a distinct personality yet."

"Wow," Alyssa said. "Everybody sounds so different. That seems like a crazy house."

Rita laughed, "There's a reason we're called the loud house."

"But don't worry kiddo," Lynn started, "I told all the kids that they need to give you time to adjust to the new place. I know you've never lived anywhere like this so they know they need to give you your space."

"Ok." Alyssa said.

"After you get a little more familiar with everybody at the house, we're going to let you pick who you want to share a bedroom with." Rita said.

"I get to pick?" Alyssa said excitedly. "At my old house I was sleeping on a mat in the corner of the living room because they didn't have a bed for me."

"I'm sorry to hear that Alyssa" Lynn said. "But thankfully we have a bed for you."

Rita turned and saw a wide smile on Alyssa's face. It broke her heart that something as simple as access to food and a bed made her this happy, no child should have to go without those things, but Rita was happy to be the one to provide it to her.

After they stopped at the nearest fast food chain to get Alyssa some food Lynn asked, "Alyssa, is there anything about you that you want us to know?"

"Um, well I always liked playing with my foster siblings, at least when their parents would let me. I'm not very good in school. Uh…" Alyssa really tried but she didn't really know how to describe herself to the Louds. All their kids had access to such cool stuff, music lessons, sports teams, beauty pageants, Alyssa hadn't ever had anything like that. "I don't know. I've never been allowed to try to play sports or play an instrument or anything like that."

"That's ok kiddo. You don't have to have it figured out." Lynn started. "What would you think about maybe being some help in the kitchen with me? We have all these kids at home and nobody took my love of cooking. I'd love to show you around the kitchen if you're up for it?"

Alyssa thought for a bit. Cooking did sound fun. She probably needed to start learning how to cook anyway. "Maybe they really meant it when they said that I wasn't gonna have to worry about food if I learn to cook for myself." She thought.

"Ok." she said. "Sounds like fun!"

"But not tonight," Lynn said, "Tonight we are celebrating. We're gonna order some pizzas to celebrate you coming in, kiddo."

"Really? You'd do that for me?" Alyssa said. "Nobody's ever done anything like that for me."

"Of course we would sweetie, anytime." Rita said.

The rest of the drive went smoothly, Alyssa asking Lynn and Rita all kinds of questions about Royal Woods and her new home. After about 10 more minutes they arrived at the Loud House.

"Rita, do you wanna go inside and give the kids one more reminder before Alyssa comes in? I'll grab her box out of the back and walk her in."

Rita nodded and walked towards the front door. She opened the door and saw all 11 of her children crowding the living room.

"Is she here?" Lola asked. "Where is she?!"

"She's outside with dad. Now before he brings her inside I need you kids to promise me that you'll be calm when she walks in. Please don't overwhelm her, she's already been through so much at such a young age. We talked to her about you guys in the car and she sounded excited to meet you all but give her time if she needs it."

"Ok mom, we get it." Lincoln said. He watched as Rita turned and waved towards Lynn and Alyssa. First, Lynn walked in with Alyssa behind him. Lynn put the box down allowing everybody to get a good look at their new sister. Lincoln's eyes went wide. She was beautiful; her long brown hair reached down past her shoulders, she had green eyes over a shy toothy grin. She stood at what looked to be a few inches shorter than Lincoln, and skinny as a twig.

Alyssa looked around the room at all the new faces she was going to get familiar with. Warm, smiling faces filled the room as Alyssa tried to get a good look at everybody. Her gaze froze on the only boy of the group. She knew that had to be Lincoln, and damn he was cute. She gave him a wave but wasn't exactly sure it was received by the right kid as they all waved back. She giggled.

"Everybody." Lynn said. "This is Alyssa."

"Hello." she said quietly. "There's so many of you."

A collective laugh emerged from the Loud kids and Alyssa's smile grew wider.

"Alyssa is gonna stay in Leni's room, at least for now. I told her what I told you kids that she'd get to pick who she wants to share a room with after she gets more accustomed to the house."

"Yay." Leni said.

"Now I'm sure you kids all wanna take Alyssa and show her everything," Rita said, "but before we let you guys do that we need to take Alyssa to get some new clothes."

"Really?" Alyssa asked, looking up at Rita. "You're gonna buy me new clothes?"

"Of course sweetie. You didn't think we were just gonna let you wear these old clothes did you?"

"Well, kinda." She said, "I've only ever gotten worn-out hand-me-downs from my old house."

"Well that changes today kiddo." Lynn said. "Rita is gonna take you to get some clothes."

"Leni, Lori, you wanna come?" Rita asked. "I'm sure Alyssa would appreciate some help from our fashion experts."

"Of course!" Lori said, watching the smile grow on Alyssa's face.

"Great," Rita said before turning to Alyssa, "Lynn will take your stuff up to Leni's room and Leni will show you it when we get back ok?"

Alyssa nodded in response, still smiling wide. This was already more than she anticipated, she couldn't stop smiling. She wondered what her former foster parents thought of her little note she left them.

"Let's go girls." Rita said. "We'll be back everybody."

(A/N: I would write about the girls going shopping for clothes but as a dude that's not my area of expertise so instead take this:)

After the girls left Lincoln ran up to his room and made sure his door was closed and locked. Nobody was gonna interrupt him as he called Clyde.

"Clyde?"

"Hey Lincoln, what's going on?"

"She's here already Clyde! Alyssa moved in today!"

"Oh really? That's so cool! How is she?"

"She's our age, Clyde, she's gonna be in our grade, maybe even our class at school. I haven't really gotten to talk to her yet, as soon as she got here Mom, Lori and Leni took her out for new clothes. Apparently her wardrobe consisted of old worn-down hand-me-downs."

"Oh that sucks," Clyde said. "But I'm glad your Mom is getting her new clothes."

"Yeah me too. There's something else I gotta tell you about her, Clyde."

"What's that, buddy?"

Lincoln took a deep breath before saying, "She's really pretty, and I don't know how to feel about it. We aren't related, but she lives in my house and is basically my sister now."

"Oh man, that's a tough one. I guess that's a tough one. Seems like a gray area." Clyde said. "You're not blood, and she's not adopted so I would think it's ok but I don't know where that falls."

"Yeah, I mean I guess it's tough." Lincoln said. "What am I even talking about, why is this what I'm worried about? A foster kid is moving into my house and is coming into our school, maybe even in our class and I'm worried about her being cute more than introducing her to Royal Woods."

"Don't worry about it buddy, do the important part first, introduce yourself, show her your room if she wants to see it and tell her about school. I bet she's gonna be interested in hanging out with you since she's our age."

"I hope so Clyde." Lincoln said. It'd be cool to show her around town. I really hope she's in our class Clyde. Then you can meet her and we can show her around. Mom and Dad said that her last foster home wasn't a very good home and I know moving to a new school is scary. I hope we can make it a little easier for her."

"You're already treating her like one of your sisters. She's gonna like you Lincoln, I can tell."

"I really hope we get along." Lincoln said. "I don't really know much about her though. I've kind of always connected to my sisters by doing things they like with them, so I don't really know what to do here with her."

"Be yourself buddy. Your sisters don't just like you because you do what they like, they like you because you're Lincoln Loud, that's why she's gonna like you too Lincoln."

Nailed it. Really like what I came up with here. Sorry I didn't take you to the mall with the girls but I can't write about clothes, it won't come out well.

Hopefully you enjoyed it, I'm really enjoying writing this so far so maybe I'll be consistent with my uploads.
