AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Hello friends! Even at my age, I still absolutely adore Austin & Ally! I'm not gonna sugarcoat that at all.
Don't get me wrong, I love Auslly and both Austin and Ally individually as characters, but I feel Trish was done dirty when it came to the ships on the show. Jace was the only decent boyfriend she ever had, but yet, she didn't even end up with him. I hated that she ended up with Chuck. Let's be honest- Chuck and Trish's relationship was actually problematic AF because he only seemed interested in getting into her pants and he didn't treat her with any real respect.
Also, I love Auslly as much as every other fan does, and I 1000% understand that they are the main characters, but I also like variety with other characters and other ships, like Trish and Jace, which are who this fic is going to center around. In this universe, Trish ends up with Jace. Jace treated Trish with the utmost respect and he accepted her with wide open arms.
OK, enough of the disclaimer. Onto the fic!
Trish De La Rosa sits at her vanity in her bedroom, applying makeup to her face, and preparing to go out with Jace Dillon, her boyfriend. She is almost done with her eyeshadow when she hears her phone ding. It's a text from Jace that says,
Hey, beautiful ;) I can't wait for our date. Don't forget to bring a sleep mask.
She texts back,
LMAO. Why would I need a sleep mask?
He says,
Our date is coming with a surprise ;)
Trish can't help but feel confused about this, but she's very interested in discovering what Jace has planned for their date. She picks up a silky eye mask from her nightstand and puts it on her wrist. Jace's BMW Sedan is in front of her parents' house. Trish climbs into Jace's car and whispers,
"Hey, baby."
He whispers,
"Hi, beautiful."
He kisses her hand (coincidentally the hand with Trish's eye mask on her wrist) and he takes it off and puts it on her face.
"Jace, where are you taking me?"
He says,
"You'll see."
After a fifteen-minute drive, Jace helps Trish out of the car and he happens to have taken her to Renaissance at the Gables, a Renaissance ballroom where Trish had her Quinceañera. While Trish and Jace weren't dating at the time, Jace brought her flowers, a fat Target gift card, and a basket of her favorite candy, not to mention, his tie matched her dress and he danced with her and got a cheek kiss from her. Jace and Trish met the summer before beginning high school. She was brought up catholic, and he was brought up Christian. Jace had moved to Miami from Albuquerque because his father, John Dillon, a lawyer, got a job opportunity in Miami. They both met at Church and he looked at her singing the hymns in Church and she stood out to him. They got to reconnect at freshman orientation at Marino High School, and instantly became friends. Jace and Trish did a lot of boyfriend and girlfriend-like things at school and hung out a lot on the weekends and during school holidays, and were (and still are) quite touchy-feely with each other.
Their relationship grew even stronger when Trish was sexually assaulted by Chuck McCoy as she was dressing for gym class. Chuck snuck up behind Trish and touched her inappropriately between her breasts and jammed his penis against her waist.
Chuck had a history of acting inappropriately and sexually with girls at Marino High School, and he had been suspended multiple times for it, and Trish was his favorite target. Coach Simmons, a wrestling coach, caught Chuck in the act when she screamed for Chuck to stop, reported him to the principal's office, and then Chuck got expelled.
A few weeks following his expulsion, he abducted Trish as she was coming home from school. He abducted her, held her hostage in an abandoned motel, raped her, and filmed himself live raping Trish, sodomizing her, torturing her, and physically restraining her with handcuffs, muzzling her with duck tape, and forcing her into child pornography.
After a week, Trish was found by her father, Eduardo De La Rosa, who is a special victims unit police officer. Chuck was arrested and put in federal prison and was made to register as a sex offender, facing charges of rape, sodomy, kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful imprisonment, and possession and dissemination of child pornography. She developed post-traumatic stress disorder and her epileptic seizures started to surge. Trish was diagnosed with epilepsy when she was five years old, and her seizures were irregular. After he had done what he did to her, she was constantly crying, having panic attacks, having nightmares about Chuck raping her and torturing her, and stalking her, and having stomachaches and headaches for weeks.
All of Trish's friends and family had shown her immense support, but Jace was who she drew closest to. After Chuck had been made to register for the sex offender registry and received a fifteen-year prison sentence, Trish was happy to get the justice she deserved and was getting therapy and seeing the school psychologist to heal. A few weeks after the end of school, Trish and Jace kissed and Trish admitted her romantic feelings to him, and he admitted he had the same feelings for her as well, causing them to go steady.
Suffering sexual violence and sexual assault at the hands of Chuck McCoy still traumatizes her in her adult years, but she survived. It made her just a little bit stronger. Trish and Jace dated throughout the rest of high school, going to prom together and both applying to community college, and on Trish's twenty-first birthday, he gave her a key to an apartment he was renting.
Trish and Jace are an interracial couple. Jace is caucasian and had a Christian upbringing, while Trish is Latina and was raised catholic. Neither family passed any judgment on the other for dating someone of a different skin color or ethnicity, or even for premarital sex. Jace has three brothers, Eric, Ryder, and Easton, Eric and Ryder are married with children, and his nieces and nephews have always referred to Trish as "Aunt Trish." As for Trish, she is the middle one of three kids. She has an older sister, Valeria, and a younger brother, JJ. Valeria is a single mother with six-year-old boy and girl twins, Emiliano and Isabela, and their father left them, was unfaithful to her, and is incarcerated for DUIs and drug trafficking because of the charges against him, he lost custody of the children. Jace took it upon himself to be a father figure to Emiliano and Isabela and is called "Tío Jace" by them and was very sympathetic to Valeria with all the drama and legal issues with her baby daddy. JJ, on the other hand, came out as bisexual on his eighteenth birthday, and Jace and Trish, despite being brought up in the church, both fully support him.
Jace tells her,
"Mi vida, you can take the mask off now."
Trish is in awe at where she is. She playfully asks him,
"Jace, what did you do?"
with a quiet chuckle and a warm smile.
"I just want to remind you of something. This is where we had our first date, which was your Quince años, yeah?"
"Yeah. I remember it so clearly. And to be fair, my mom still has a photo album of it."
"This was the spot where we just removed ourselves for a few minutes to dance."
He gets down on one knee, holding every single one of Trish's left fingers except for her thumb, and looks into Trish's dark brown hooded eyes.
"Trish, you're very familiar with the fact that my family and I moved to Miami a long time ago. When I moved, I didn't imagine you being the best person I've ever met in my life, much less the best part about relocating to Miami. We've both been through hell and back plenty of times together, and apart, and you've made it worth it. I love you, more than I've ever loved anything in my life. You're special. You're confident, tenacious, you're always telling it like it is, you're protective over those you love, including me, and you're the perfect balance of tenacious, tough, and brutally honest, and yet you're really empathetic and caring."
He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small box, revealing a silver ring with a double banded studded ring and an oval-shaped diamond, eliciting Trish to feel an ocean of emotion and awe wash over her and to cover her face with her hands.
"Jace, it's beautiful."
"Patricia María De La Rosa, will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?"
Trish says,
"Dios mío, Dios mío, Jace, I can't believe you're asking me to marry you. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, of course I'll marry you!"
Tears of happiness and emotion are streaming down her face while she looks down at the ring and takes it out of the box, putting it on her ring finger.
"I promise you, Trish, I'm going to keep loving you, protecting you, and taking care of you."
"I know you will, and I promise the same thing. I love you, Jason Xavier Dillon."
"I love you, too, Patricia María De La Rosa."
The two then gently shut their eyes, with Trish's hand, the hand with her wedding ring on it, with her fingers gently stroking Jace's hand, and her other hand on his shoulder and Jace's dominant hand is on the back of Trish's neck and they are passionately kissing.
A blonde woman of average height and blue eyes wearing a Canon camera around her shoulder approaches them.
"Congratulations, you guys! I hope you don't mind that I got some photos of you."
Jace says,
"Of course not. What's your name, Miss?"
She says,
"I'm Kayleigh Spellman. I run a photography business from my home. I specialize in life events. I photograph at weddings, proms, quinceañeras, bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvahs, communions, confirmations, anything."
She reaches into her mom jeans and hands Jace and Trish each her business card. Kayleigh owns a business called Picture Spellman and on her card are her business phone number, business email, and her handles on FaceBook, X-Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and Linkedin.
Trish says,
"We just might hire you for our wedding. I'm Trish, and this is my fiancé, Jace."
"I'd love that. You both are a lovely couple."
The couple reply in unison,
"Thank you."
"Can I get some more shots of you guys?"
Jace says,
"Sure, ma'am."
After five shots, one of Trish holding up her hand with the engagement ring on it, one with them nose to nose, one with Jace kissing Trish's temple, one with them kissing, and one with them gently cuddling with Trish showing off her ring. Kayleigh says,
"Can I get your emails so I can send those pictures to you?"
Jace writes both their email addresses in the book and Trish asks,
"How much are you gonna charge us for the photos?"
Kayleigh laughs.
"For these ones, they're on the house. I'll let you know my rates when we come to it."
Later that night, Trish and Jace both get a monsoon of photos from Kayleigh Spellman, from the photos of Jace holding Trish's hand to propose to her, to him presenting the ring to her, and them Trish's hand, the hand with her wedding ring on it, with her fingers gently stroking Jace's hand, and her other hand on his shoulder and Jace's dominant hand is on the back of Trish's neck and they are passionately kissing.
Trish takes a photo of the ring, on her finger, downloads the photos from her email to her phone and starts a group chat on her phone with her childhood best friend, Ally Dawson, and her sister, Valeria.
Hey, Ladies, will you meet me at Mami Borracha tomorrow night at 7:00 PM? I have some important news to share with you guys.
Ally texts,
My schedule is wide open :).
Valeria says,
I'll be there. Hopefully, I can find a babysitter for the kids.
Mami Borracha is Trish's favorite bar. She usually has her birthday parties or other celebrations there and the bartender makes the best margaritas, with her favorite being the strawberry margarita. Valeria is the first to come in, and they give each other embraces and they kiss each other on the cheeks.
"So, what's the big news involving mi hermana? Do Mom or Dad or JJ know yet?"
Trish says,
"¡Ay, Hermana! ¡Espera hasta que Ally llegue! Also, I'm gradually telling everyone, starting with you and Ally. Mom, Dad, and JJ will know pretty soon."
"Oh that's right, Ally's joining us, too. Is she still dating, um…? I forgot her boyfriend's name."
"You mean Austin? Yes, she is. They both just moved in together, actually."
As if on cue, Ally walks in, and Trish waves to her. Ally gives both the De La Rosa sisters each a warm bear hug and sits at the booth counter with drinks. Trish got her usual strawberry margarita, Ally got a bottle of rosé and Valeria got a Piña colada.
Valeria quietly snickers.
"You got wine, Ally? You're so white."
Ally says,
"Hey, it's a matter of taste. I'm more of a fan of simple wines and beers. Champagne, cosmos, and mimosas if I'm feeling particularly festive."
"Does Austin drink?"
"Yes, he does. He buys two twelve packs of Heineken from Costco at least once a month."
She turns to Trish.
"So, what's the big news, Trish?"
Valeria pipes in.
"Yeah, the suspense is killing me! Now that we're all together and have drinks, you have to tell us!"
Trish says,
"Ally, you're going to love this. It involves romance. Yesterday, Jace surprised me by picking me up at my apartment, and he asked me to bring a sleep mask, and at first I was confused. I was all like, why the fuck would I bring a mask on my date with Jace, that's kind of weird. And when I took the mask off, Jace had taken me to where I had my Quinceañera."
Valeria says,
"I remember that, and I remember when Mamá was helping you, me and Ally get ready for the ceremony and Jace came in the back and gave you your presents."
Trish says,
"Me too. I'll let this news speak for itself."
She reveals her finger with the engagement ring that Jace proposed to her with causing Ally and Valeria to bubble over with happiness, especially Ally. Ally loves love and romance and her overall demeanor is one of a Disney Princess. Both her sister and her best friend squeal like dolphins. Valeria says,
"¡Ay, felicidades, hermanita!"
Ally says,
"Congratulations, Trish! Your ring is gorgeous!"
Trish says,
"¡Ay, thank you, gracias. The whole point of why I called all three of us to the bar tonight is to not only announce my engagement, and Jace and I haven't talked about the wedding yet, but I want to ask both of you, because you're my best friend (she looks at Ally) and you're my sister (she looks at Valeria), will you two be my maids of honor?"
Ally's face lights up like a child opening presents on Christmas morning.
"Of course, of course, of course!"
Valeria says,
"Don't have to ask me twice!"
The three group hug and Valeria kisses Trish's cheek.
"Congratulations and felicidades, Trish. We're so happy for you."
Valeria says,
"I always knew you and Jace would get married."
Ally takes another sip of the rosé and says,
"If we're your maids of honor, I wonder if Jace is going to make Austin one of his best men."
Trish says,
"I think the chances of that are pretty good."
At around 9:00 PM, Ally comes into the apartment she shares with her boyfriend, Austin Moon. She can hear Austin talking on FaceTime saying,
"She said yes?! Congratulations, Jace!"
Ally is just about to put her house key through the keyhole when she gets a text from Trish of her engagement photos. Ally says,
"Hi."
Austin says,
"That's Ally. She just came home."
Ally asks,
"Is that Jace?"
Austin says,
"Yeah."
He turns his phone toward Ally and Ally says,
"I heard the tea that you proposed to Trish and you two are engaged. Congratulations, Jace!"
Jace says,
"Thank you, Ally. Did Trish tell you?"
Ally says,
"Yes, she did. I was at a bar with her and Valeria and she showed us both the ring and asked us to be her maids of honor. You did great at picking out her ring, Jace."
Jace pipes in.
"Thank you, Ally. I knew you'd be happy about it, because you love love."
He asks Austin,
"Austin, how would you feel about being one of my best men?"
Austin says,
"Count me in! Is it just me, or anyone else?"
Jace says,
"I'm thinking you, Dez, my brothers, and JJ."
"Good choices."
Later on, Ally is preparing a cup of chamomile tea and gets into bed with Austin, and asks him,
"Can you believe Trish and Jace are engaged?"
"No, I can't. I knew they liked each other when I saw them dancing together at her Quinceañera. Now they're getting married."
Ally says,
"Austin, if you think about it, their relationship is kind of like ours. You know, when they started as close friends but secretly like-liked each other, and gradually got closer."
Austin replies,
"I never thought about that. While we're on the subject, I didn't prepare anything grand like that, and it could be a long time away, but since we're both in the bridal party, will you be my date to Jace and Trish's wedding?"
Ally says,
"Yes, of course."
The two proceed to kiss passionately.
