(A/N: So in the first chapter, Peach and Tiara have learned that Bowser just killed Mario for real, and they are currently hoping that something will prevent the wedding from happening. Will they get their wish? I'll start the chapter so you can find out!)

Some time later, Bowser decided to make a pit stop in his kingdom. They went to his castle, where he wanted to finish getting ready for the wedding. He decided to take Peach into the castle with him, even though she didn't want to go. She wanted to stay on the airship, where it was nice and quiet. But Bowser wouldn't hear of it. He yelled at her that she was going to do whatever he said, and that was final. With that, he dragged her into the castle.

Upon witnessing Bowser's lack of heart, Tiara really wanted to see something bad to happen to Bowser. She didn't wish that he would die; that wouldn't be nice. It just had to be bad enough to make him cancel the wedding, because watching Peach suffer and being helpless to stop it was no fun for the little Bonneter. All she could do was perch on Peach's head as a tiara and whisper to her, "I'm here for you."

Once inside the castle, Bowser took Peach right to the entertainment room, where she was forced to keep his 8 very naughty kids entertained so they wouldn't come up to his room and try to run him ragged while he got ready (but it was mostly because she was going to be their new mother after the wedding). It took a while before he was finally ready for the big event, and the kids were really good at making Peach less than happy. She was relieved when Bowser said it was time to go.

At the present moment, Bowser and Peach were about to board the airship again and travel to the wedding venue so they could be married at last. Bowser was looking forward to the occasion, but Peach felt like throwing up. She was almost hoping that she would. Bowser may not want to get married if the bride was sick. And maybe she'd be lucky enough to get sick on him, since his tux was custom-made, not stolen.

That was when they heard a familiar ringing sound. Bowser pulled his black smartphone out of the pocket of his white wedding pants to see that the Broodals were calling him. He was concerned to discover that they were calling him this close to the wedding, but he answered the phone with the words, "Talk to me."

"It's Topper of da Broodals, Boss. We have a problem." Topper's voice said.

"Oh, what is it this time?" Bowser demanded in annoyance, his voice beginning to get loud again. 'We have a problem' was one of his least favorite sentences to hear, unless one of the good guys said it.

"Not again..." Tiara thought from her perch on Peach's head.

"I can't take much more of this. I've got to get away from him now." Peach thought. If she had to hear Bowser yell again, she was sure that she would go deaf. She was already going berserk. The princess quickly clamped her hands over her ears and tried to run for cover, but Bowser noticed and stopped her. He snatched her up right off the ground and held her close to his face.

"Where do you think you're going, my beautiful bride?" Bowser asked her.

"Away from you! Now let me go, you loudmouthed freak!" Peach screamed at him, removing her hands from her ears and beating on his fist in an attempt to make him let go of her. She even tried to bite him to try and make him loosen his grip. But Bowser's skin was very tough, and he was too strong to let go of the princess.

"You're not getting away from me that easily, so knock that off!" Bowser yelled at Peach.

"Stop yelling at me!" Peach yelled back. She wasn't prepared for his yelling, and it hurt her ears.

"THEN BE QUIET!" Bowser ordered.

Peach didn't like to be ordered around at that volume, but she gave Bowser a defiant glare before turning away from him. She wished Daisy might be at the wedding, for she would be able to stop him.

"Hey, you can't speak to us like dat!" Bowser heard Topper's voice say over the smartphone. Oops! He was still on the phone while he was yelling at Peach, and he had the phone very close to his mouth when he yelled.

"Oh, no, I wasn't yelling at you; I was yelling at my bride!" Bowser explained.

The Broodals looked at each other in concern. Bowser was yelling at his bride? That wasn't a very good sign. They were afraid that this marriage would never last.

"Okay..." Rango replied uneasily.

"Anyway, what's the problem?" Bowser asked.

"We found out that either you're a lying liar who lies, or you're just not good at killing people." Hariet told him.

"Well, you're one to talk when it comes to being no good at killing people! Might I remind you that none of you were able to send Mario to the morgue when you battled him! However, you're very lucky that he already hasn't sent the four of you there in his place!" Bowser replied.

Peach slumped in defeat in Bowser's grip when she heard the words 'send Mario to the morgue'. It hurt her to think that Bowser had sent him there. The thought of losing Mario made her want to die. Her eyes closed. She was fading away.

"No, Peach!" Tiara cried, leaping off of Peach's head and flying in front of her face, saying, "Please don't die! I can't lose you, not after the way I lost my brother! You've got to live! You've just got to!"

"You'll be lucky if he doesn't send you there first!" Hariet replied in anger.

"Like that's ever gonna happen! I just took care of him with a big dragon back in the Ruined Kingdom! That annoying little thorn is out of my side for good!" Bowser gloated, letting out an evil laugh.

When Peach heard that, she came around, and Tiara saw that she was madder than a hornet! Peach had had enough, and now she was ready to claw out Bowser's eyes, but she wasn't exactly close enough to reach them. That didn't stop her from swinging wildly at the air, yelling, "I SHALL AVENGE YOU, MARIO! PREPARE TO DIE, FOUL MONSTER!"

"LISTEN UP, MISSY! YOU EITHER SHUT YOUR STUPID MOUTH RIGHT NOW, OR I'M GOING TO SHUT IT FOR YOU! TAKE YOUR PICK!" Bowser yelled at Peach at the top of his voice. He not only scared her; he caused her to give up and cry in defeat again.

"Much better." Bowser thought, not really caring how upset Peach felt about losing Mario and being forced to marry a monster; someone who never loved her to begin with.

"Why didn't I try to stop Bowser sooner? Oh, Mario, I'm so sorry I didn't help you..." Peach thought as she sobbed from the pain of a heart that was probably broken beyond repair.

Tiara had been hiding when Bowser yelled, even though it made her feel bad that Peach couldn't hide like she could. It really was too bad that she couldn't do like Cappy and capture things. Doing so would help Peach get away from that creep and avoid possible hearing loss. She quietly flew back to her friend and hoped that Bowser would go quiet.

"Was he just yelling at his bride again?" the Broodals thought in concern. Bowser had done a lot of yelling lately; it was a wonder that he hadn't lost his voice... yet.

"So you say." Topper replied.

"What do you mean?" Bowser asked.

"Well... if you really took care of him like you said, then perhaps you wouldn't mind explaining to us what he's doing in your kingdom?" Hariet suggested.

"What did you just say?" Bowser asked.

"He's not dead, Boss. Hariet and I saw him running around da Main Courtyard Entrance not too long ago! Yeah, dat's right; he's still alive and kicking! So we decided to put a stop him... which was a bad idea. We found out dat he must be on Broadway, 'cause he's really good at kickin'. We got our butts kicked once again..." Topper explained, knowing that Bowser would explode.

It took less than a minute for the meaning of those awful words to register in Bowser's brain. He was deathly quiet as it happened, which meant he was getting ready to explode, and Tiara noticed.

"Cover your ears, Peach." Tiara warned her friend before going back to where she had been hiding.

"MARIO'S STILL ALIVE?! IN MY KINGDOM?! AND YOU STILL HAVEN'T KILLED HIM?! WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH YOU STUPID RABBITS?!" Bowser screamed, causing the Broodals to cover their ears. But it wasn't enough, for they could still hear Bowser's rage on the other end of the phone. And they felt awful for his bride.

Even though Peach covered her ears, she could still hear Bowser's screaming. The princess knew that sooner or later, she was going to need to see a doctor. She was afraid that if Bowser didn't stop screaming, her eardrums were going to explode. Where was a good doctor when you needed one?

"HOW HARD CAN IT BE FOR YOU TO TURN THAT PUNY PLUMBER INTO A-" Bowser continued yelling, before suddenly launching into a loud and hard coughing fit. He couldn't stop coughing on his own, but he'd had fits like this before, and thankfully, he knew how to stop this one.

Bowser quickly set Peach down (much to her relief) and threw a breath mint into his mouth in an attempt to stop the coughing fit. It worked, but when he tried to talk again, nothing came out of his mouth. It was as though his voice had been shut off, or he was trying to mouth some words.

"Hello? Boss? Are you still there?" Rango asked, concerned that they were hearing nothing but silence on Bowser's end after the sound of his coughing had ceased. He couldn't help wondering if everything was okay because he had been coughing pretty hard, and it didn't sound good.

Then they heard a 'click' from Bowser's end, followed by a dial tone, indicating that he'd ended the call.

"What happened? Why did he end the call when he clearly wasn't done yelling at us?" Spewart asked.

"I don't know, but if anything, I'm really glad that coughing fit he was having got him to finally stop all the yelling." Hariet said in relief. She was getting a headache from all the yelling

"Me too, because I didn't know how much more of dat yelling I could take. I tell ya, I almost feel sorry for his poor bride." Topper said.

"I don't think the boss's marriage is goin' to last for an hour if he's already yelling at his wife-to-be. Maybe we should stop helping him?" Rango suggested.

"No, we can't stop unless he tells us to, or if he cancels the wedding." Spewart said.

"What's the matter, Bowser? Why aren't you finishing your sentence to your henchmen? Are you too angry to speak to them?" Peach asked Bowser in a teasing manner as she watched him doing something else on his phone.

Bowser tried to yell at her, but nothing came out of his mouth. That's when Peach realized what the problem was.

"Ohhh, you can't speak? Did you lose your voice?" Peach asked, trying hard to hide the obvious surprise in her voice as she spoke. It was about time something like this happened to him.

"Peach say what?" Tiara asked herself. It was a welcome relief to not hear Bowser yelling anymore.

Bowser shrugged his shoulders. He wasn't sure if that's what happened, or if he suddenly came down with laryngitis. It was cruel that this would have to happen to him now, right before they were supposed to tie the knot.

Peach saw exactly where this was going, and she smirked to herself before telling Bowser, "You know, if you can't talk, then you're up the creek without a paddle. There is no way the minister at the wedding is going to accept a non-verbal response as an 'I do' unless he was warned beforehand that you're deaf, or a mute."

Bowser looked at her as if to say, "So tell him yourself."

"If you're expecting me to tell him that you say 'I do', you can forget it. After you've been treating me no better than dirt, I don't have to do anything for you! Plus, even if I did try to speak for you, he would tell me that you have to answer the question yourself." Peach replied, smiling slightly for the first time since she saw Mario die. It felt so good to finally have the upper hand over Bowser.

Bowser gave her a cold glare for that, but Peach gave him an even colder one that caused a blizzard cloud to appear over his head. And the cloud had lots of snow in it, for he was turned into a giant snow-Koopa in a matter of seconds. The sight amused Peach and Tiara (who returned to Peach's head in her tiara form) to no end. The only sad thing was that Mario and Cappy weren't here to see this.

Bowser shook off the snow, turned away from Peach, and got ready to let the Broodals know what went wrong.

That's when the Broodals heard the 'text' chime play on Topper's smartphone. Topper looked at the phone's screen and said, "Okay, I just got a text message from da boss. Let's see what it says."

The message read, "I can't talk. I think I lost my voice."

"Well, that explains why he ended the call." Spewart replied.

"He must have hurt his throat from all the yellin' he was doing." Rango said.

"Good. I was sick of hearing him yell at us. I thought he wasn't gonna stop." Hariet said.

"I know. What a relief." Topper said, before texting Bowser, "Do you know how this happened?"

While Bowser was reading the text from the Broodals, Tiara assumed her Bonneter form again and asked the princess in a whisper, "Peach, did you happen to hear what Bowser was yelling on the phone just before his voice had stopped working?"

"Not really. He was giving me a migraine, and even though I had covered my ears, they were ringing like the wedding bells he wants to hear." Peach replied, keeping her voice soft.

"I may have been hiding, but I swear he was yelling something about Mario still being alive! Surely you know what that means, don't you? Bowser was lying about having killed him!" Tiara said in an excited whisper.

"Mario lived? He's still alive?! I... I need to find out if this is true!" Peach said, her voice just above a whisper as Tiara returned to her head as a tiara. The princess began to tug at Bowser's pant leg the way the Toads would tug at her skirts when they had to get her attention.

Bowser had just typed a short reply and was about to send it when he felt the tugging on his pant leg. He turned to see that Peach was doing this to get his attention. When she saw him looking down at her as if to ask what she was doing, she looked up at him and said in a loud voice, "Listen to me, Bowser! If you're texting your henchmen, I need you to ask them if what they said is true! You must ask them if Mario really is alive. Do it NOW!"

Since Bowser couldn't yell, he sighed as he lengthened his message, but Peach's words made him realize something that he hadn't thought about. What if Mario was really gone, but the Broodals were only saying that he was still alive just to test him? If it turned out that they had been testing him, then he was going to roast them and have himself some delicious rabbit stew for supper. Maybe that would fix his throat.

It took a few minutes before the Broodals got his reply, which read, "I have a theory. But now my bride wants to know if Mario's really alive. Prove it."

"He wants to see the red guy he hates?" asked Rango.

"No, his bride does." said Topper.

"So tell him to tell her that he is! I didn't fancy hearing him yelling at her, so I think she deserves some happiness now!" said Hariet.

"Yeah! She deserves to know something that'll make her happy!" said Spewart.

"Okay, and she's in luck. I took a picture of him fighting Hariet, so I can send it to da boss as proof dat he lives." said Topper.

"You snapped a photo of him kicking my butt?! Why did you do that?" Hariet asked in anger.

"Because you were behaving like a snotty furball earlier, and I had plans of posting dat picture on social media to get back at you." Topper said.

"It's probably for the best that he took it here. The boss has the right to know that the battle took place right here in his kingdom, like he was told." said Spewart.

"He is alive. Here's a picture I took not too long ago." Topper replied, attaching the picture of Mario to the message before sending it to Bowser.

When Bowser got the text message, he immediately frowned in disappointment, because that's not what he wanted to read. He was even angrier when he looked at the photo, for he realized that the Broodals were not testing him. Mario had lived, which meant that he not only survived the fall again, he had also bested the dragon.

"What is it? What is it?! I want to see what they said!" Peach demanded, wanting to see his phone.

Bowser sighed in defeat and quietly handed the phone to Peach, allowing her to see the photo of Mario engaging Hariet in battle... in this very kingdom!

"MARIO! He's actually here! He survived! Oh, thank the Star Spirits! I thought I'd never see him again!" Peach exclaimed, tears of joy coursing down her cheeks. She was sure that Mario must have a super guardian angel watching over him if he survived being shot down twice!

Bowser snatched the phone out of Peach's hands when she said that. He didn't want to hear her saying good things about Mario.

"Hey! I was looking at that!" Peach shouted in frustration. She had been studying Mario's sweetly expressive face, and it felt so good for her to see it again. The thought of seeing it in person made her feel happy.

"I saw the picture, Peach. I saw Mario! And the best part was that I saw him using Cappy to fight that silly rabbit! This means my big brother and your boyfriend are still alive! Oh, I'm so happy!" Tiara cheered.

"Me too, Tiara!" Peach replied. She and Tiara were so excited! Mario and Cappy were here, in Bowser's Kingdom, and he was still alive! Peach knew that her beau would never give up and let her down, and Tiara's big brother was helping him along!

Bowser didn't look too happy as he noticed Peach's excitement about Mario being alive. Why couldn't she ever feel that way about him?

Peach noticed Bowser's obvious distress and decided that maybe she should go a little easy on him. She could prove to him that Mario's survival might be a good thing.

"Look, Bowser, I know that you're not happy about Mario being alive, but hear me out: this might actually turn out to be a good thing for you." Peach started.

Bowser looked at the princess with an eyebrow raised in confusion. What in the world was she saying? Since when was Mario's newfound ability to cheat death a good thing for him?

"You probably don't know this little detail, but Mario happens to be a doctor, as well as a plumber." Peach said.

Bowser gave her a look that said, "So what?"

Peach read the look on his face, then suggested, "Since Mario is an M.D., a Doctor of Medicine, maybe he can give you something to help you get your voice back?"

Bowser's face brightened at this news, and so he sent a message to the Broodals, saying, "If you see Mario again, do not touch him."

"'Do not touch him'?" the Broodals said to each other aloud as they read Bowser's reply.

"Why not? He's not nice to us!" said Rango.

"Yeah, he keeps on beating us." said Spewart.

"And he says I'm lying when I remind him that he's not invited to the wedding." Hariet complained.

Topper listened to the input from his brothers and sister, then texted Bowser, "Are you really sure you don't want us to interfere?"

"Let him alone. The bride says he might be able to help me." Bowser texted back.

Topper showed his siblings the reply.

"Oh sure! Now he realizes the guy he wants us to kill can help him! Why is that?" Spewart asked.

"Dat's what I'm gonna find out." Topper replied. He asked Bowser how Mario could help, and his eyes widened when he read the reply, which said, "Mario is a doctor."

"No wonder he knows how to inflict pain." said Rango. While doctors are supposed to help people feel better when they're sick or hurt, they're also pretty good at making their treatments somewhat painful.

"He might be able to cure my sore throat. I'll let you know after I see him." Bowser added as the news sank into the Broodals' heads.

"All right, Boss. We'll talk later." Topper finished. He put his green smartphone away, then turned to his siblings and said, "Da boss says he'll let us know what's up after he gets checked out."

"What if the doctor can't fix his throat right away? Suppose it's going to take a while for his throat to feel better?" Hariet asked.

"The boss might have to cancel his wedding. Be a shame, after all the trouble we went to, gettin' him the supplies he wanted." said Rango.

"All that food's gonna go to waste, so our hard work was all for nothing." said Spewart.

"Not necessarily, Spewart. We don't know what the doctor's gonna say about the boss." Hariet said.

"All we can do now is wait for da boss to let us know." Topper replied.

Mario will show up in the next chapter. What's going to happen? Stay tuned if you want to find out!
