(A/N: Well, I must say that I'm surprised to see that I took this story to 4 chapters. I really wasn't expecting to do that! All right, let's get this show on the road!)
Bowser let out a silent sigh of disappointment as Mario and Peach left his airship. For a long time, he just sat on his bed, feeling unhappy that he'd planned his wedding to the letter, but just when he was about to go to the Moon Kingdom and finally marry Princess Peach in what he called 'the wedding of the century', his voice stopped working because of all the yelling he'd done. Now he wasn't getting married, and the princess was leaving with Mario, who had survived.
Then he remembered the Broodals. He'd promised to let them know what the verdict was after he was looked at by the doctor. They weren't going to be happy to learn that the wedding had to be called off (meaning the supplies they had stolen must be returned), but perhaps he could convince them to take everything back by paying them something nice for all their hard work. So he worked up the courage to send them a text message.
On the Broodals' airship, the rabbits were sitting around, wondering what they were gonna do when they suddenly heard Topper's smartphone make the 'text' chime. The sound got their attention, and when they looked at the screen, they saw that Bowser had sent them a message.
"If the boss sent us a text message, I'm going to take it there was nothing the doctor could do to make his voice work again." said Hariet.
"How can you be so sure?" Rango asked.
"If his voice worked, I don't think he would send us a text." Hariet said.
"Or perhaps he knows dat if he called us so he could yell, we'll simply end da call and block him!" Topper said as he looked at the phone.
"Or maybe the doctor managed to fix his voice but told him that he needs to let it rest for a few days first?" Spewart suggested.
"That could be it." said Rango.
"Well, let's bring up dis message and find out what he learned, shall we?" Topper suggested as he brought up the message for them to read. It said, "Bad news. I have an inflamed larynx."
"Oh boy, I was afraid of dat." Topper muttered.
"What does that mean?" Rango asked.
"His voice hasn't been fixed." Topper explained.
"Does that mean the wedding isn't going to happen?" Rango asked.
"Not today, apparently." said Hariet.
"I know he's goin' to say da weddin's off, but I'll humor you and ask him your question, just to be sure." Topper replied to Rango. He sent Bowser a text message that said, "We take it you're not getting married, Boss?"
Bowser knew he was going to hate himself for this, but he reluctantly replied, "That's right. I can't get married with my throat like this."
"Told ya so." Topper said to Rango, showing him Bowser's reply.
"I just wanted to be sure. Can't blame me for that." Rango said.
"How long is it going to take before he can talk to us again?" Spewart asked.
"Let me ask." Topper said, before texting, "So you can't talk?"
"That's right." Bowser replied.
"For how long?" Topper asked, even though he was actually relieved that Bowser couldn't talk. He hadn't appreciated being yelled at forgetting his butt kicked by Mario. It wasn't his fault that Mario was too quick, strong, and clever for him and his siblings.
When the reply popped up about 2 minutes later, Topper got one look at the message, and his eyes bulged out of their sockets as he screamed at the top of his voice, "HOLY CARROTS!"
Boy, did his siblings get scared when they heard him yell like that! They jumped about 2 feet in the air, then went to hide under or behind furniture before they realized what the sound was.
"What?! What is it?! What's the matter?!" asked Hariet, still a little frightened by her brother's yell.
"Read what da boss replied!" Topper said, handing her the smartphone.
So Hariet took the phone and began reading to herself the texting session Bowser and Topper were having, and the most recent text was from Bowser. Her eyes widened when she read it.
"Well, it looks like that's that." Hariet said with a defeated sigh.
"What did the boss say?" asked Rango.
"You're not gonna believe it because I don't believe it. He messed up his voice so bad, he has to keep quiet for 3 whole months!" Topper said.
"What?!" asked Rango and Spewart.
"That's what he said. Read it and weep." Hariet said, showing her brothers the text session on Topper's phone. Their eyes were just as big as Topper's were when they saw Bowser's reply, which read, "3 months. I know. I screwed up real bad."
"So this means the wedding is off. He cancelled it." Spewart said.
"He probably didn't wanna, but he had no choice. You wouldn't want to get married when your voice doesn't work." Topper said.
"That's true. And I bet the minister would never accept a non-verbal reply from a monster. He'd probably even refuse to marry him and the girl, because they don't really seem to click. You heard how loudly the boss was yelling at his bride over the phone earlier. What woman wants to get married to a guy who yells at her? I sure wouldn't." Hariet replied.
Topper, Rango, and Spewart couldn't argue with her on that one. Madame Broode told them that a groom who yells at his bride before the wedding doesn't plan to live happily ever after. But they knew they couldn't say that to Bowser. So Topper replied, "The wedding is off?"
"Correct. And the bride didn't wish to stay with me until my throat healed." Bowser replied.
"I can't blame her for that." Topper muttered under his breath, before texting, "Where is she now?"
"With Mario. They've gone to the Moon Kingdom." Bowser said.
"To get hitched?" Topper sent his reply without even thinking about it.
It took a few minutes before Topper got a reply, and it wasn't a good one. Bowser had replied, "NO, YOU DUNCE!" But then another message popped up, reading, "Sorry. I mean, I hope not."
"So what are they doing?" asked Topper. He had been ready to send an angry reply when Bowser sent a nicer reply.
"They're telling the guests (if any showed up) that there won't be a wedding." Bowser replied.
"Is that all? You didn't have to be so rude." Topper said.
"It's not my fault. I don't like to think of the bride marrying him." Bowser said.
"Right now, we don't care." Topper thought. The bride deserved better than Bowser, and considering how angry Mario got when Hariet said he wasn't invited to the wedding, then maybe the bride should marry Mario after all.
And then Topper got another message from Bowser. It said, "Can you please return the wedding supplies for me?"
Topper groaned when he read that reply.
"What's wrong?" asked Rango.
"First of all, da boss said his bride left. Dat mustached guy took her to da weddin' venue." Topper said.
"As much as I hate to say it, I think the mustached man is a better man for her. In fact, I think they were a couple, and the boss took her from him, and that's why he wouldn't invite him." Hariet said.
"So that means we were in the wrong for trying to stop him from reclaiming his girl." Spewart said.
"I feel like a moron for being mean to him." said Rango.
"We were only mean to him because we didn't know that the boss was a jerk." Hariet said.
"Now let's get back to da message da boss sent. Because of da cancelled weddin', he asked if we could do somethin' we're gonna hate." Topper explained.
"What did he say?" asked Rango.
"He wants us to return da weddin' supplies." Topper replied.
Sure enough, Hariet, Rango, and Spewart groaned in distress, not happy with that idea. They were really hoping that he wouldn't ask them to do this, since the wedding was his idea, and he'd pretty much ordered them to get the best of the best for his wedding.
"Do we have to?" Hariet complained.
"We're gonna have to put up with angry characters from the kingdoms we stole from." Spewart said.
"Yeah, we should ask him to do it for us. We don't wanna put up with angry people." said Rango.
Topper didn't know how to ask Bowser why he couldn't do this job himself. He knew that Bowser would let 'em have it if they refused to do as he asked.
Five minutes passed, and Bowser realized he wasn't getting a reply. He figured that the Broodals were very reluctant to do this job because they knew that the cancelled wedding meant they weren't going to get paid for doing all the dirty work. He knew that he would have to make this worth their while, so he texted, "If you agree to do this, I'll pay each of you a big diamond from my treasury for all your hard work."
The rabbits looked at each other in surprise when they read that message. Bowser would fork over a big diamond?! For each of them?! Well, this was an offer they couldn't refuse! So Topper replied, "Deal!"
Bowser smiled at that, then said, "Come to my airship. I'll be on the deck, waiting for you." Then he put his phone back in his pocket and went out to the deck to wait for the Broodals.
About 10 minutes later, the Broodals' airship pulled up next to Bowser's airship. They informed him that they were going to have to tow his airship behind them because not everything would fit in or on their ship, but he decided that he could accept that. However, they wanted their payment before they took everything back, so Bowser went to his castle's treasury, grabbed 4 big diamonds, and handed one to each of the Broodals.
As soon as the Broodals left with their payment and his airship, Bowser had to think of an easy way to explain what went wrong to Kamek, his kids, and everyone in his castle. He told them that when he and Peach returned, they would be husband and wife. But he didn't even get to the venue when his voice stopped working.
Bowser wished he could ask Kamek to fix his throat so he could still get married, but he knew that such a thing would never happen. Even though Kamek had spoiled him rotten every now and then during his childhood (due to his lack of parents), the Magikoopa knew that he would have to teach Bowser that life isn't always fair. So whenever Bowser got sick or hurt, Kamek never used magic to heal him, claiming that he did not know healing spell, and he should 'let nature take its course'.
The Koopalings had a good feeling that Bowser was going to find a way to screw everything up before it was time for the ceremony, so when they learned what happened to their dad, they were not surprised. In fact, they made a bet on when Bowser would return to announce that the wedding was cancelled, and Larry won (by placing his bet when he heard Bowser opening the doors).
Jr., however, was very unhappy, and it wasn't because of the bet his siblings made (he was betting against them, that their father and Peach would be married). He knew if his dad's voice didn't work, it meant that Bowser could not marry Peach and make her his Mama. And that was what he promised Jr. as he walked out the door. But then again, Bowser hadn't planned on losing his voice before the wedding! He ended up having to break his promise!
"You know magic! Do something! Peach was supposed to be my Mama today, and Papa's letting her get away with that no-good, lousy Mario!" Jr. yelled at Kamek as Bowser went to go gargle with salt water like the doctor suggested.
Kamek sat Jr. down and sternly told him the very same things he told Bowser when he first refused to cure him of an illness: he didn't know healing magic, and life isn't always fair. When you get sick or hurt, you must let nature take its course.
While Bowser was wallowing in misery in his castle, waiting for his minions to gather the supplies he didn't have to get better, the Broodals were doing their best to return everything they stole (all the while having to avoid being shot down by the angry inhabitants of different kingdoms).
When they left Bowser's airship, Mario picked up Peach and held her bridal style as he asked Cappy to warp them back to the Odyssey. He gladly did, and the princess was surprised to see how quickly they all appeared outside of Mario's airship. Just seconds ago, they had been standing on the deck of Bowser's airship!
"Now, Peach, did Bowser tell you where the wedding would be held?" Mario asked.
"Yes, he did. But you're not going to believe me." Peach said.
"After what Bowser has done to us, I think we'll believe anything." Cappy said.
"Okay, then. He said it would take place in the Wedding Hall at... get this... the Moon Kingdom." Peach replied.
It took only seconds for those words to register in Mario and Cappy's brains.
"THE MOON?!" the boys screamed. They tried to see the moon from their vantage point, but they couldn't.
"But that's too far!" Mario screamed.
"And since when do people get married over there?!" Cappy said.
"Since it somehow became a thing, I guess. But I don't know how or why Bowser thought it was a great idea to marry the princess on the moon." Tiara said.
"Actually, I think I do. He probably decided to do that because he figured that Mario would never be able to chase him to the moon and back." Peach said.
"That makes sense..." Tiara murmured, before asking Mario, "Can we get there?"
"I think we can. I gathered plenty of Power Moons during our time here." Mario said, before adding the red objects to the Odyssey, completing the ship. Not only that, but uit was also completely restored, too! The Power Moons they'd found during their time in the Lost and Ruined Kingdoms weren't enough to completely repair the Odyssey when it was shot down, courtesy of a jealous Koopa King who was too stubborn to admit defeat.
"All right. Let's-a go to the moon!" said Mario, and they boarded the Odyssey, set a course for the Moon Kingdom, and took off. Mario and Cappy decided to stay out on the deck for a bit and talk, but Peach and Tiara went inside the ship to relax and talk in silence. They couldn't believe that the wedding was over before it began!
"You know, I did have something special in mind for you in case Bowser managed to pull off another escape from us and we had to chase him to the wedding venue." Cappy said to Mario as the ship made its way to the moon.
"Really, now? What were you planning to do?" Mario asked.
"I was going to turn your outfit into an elegant white wedding tuxedo. Let me tell you, it would look a lot better than the one Bowser was wearing, and Peach would probably want to marry you if she saw you in it." Cappy said.
Mario blushed heavily at the thought of Peach wanting to marry him if she saw him in a fancy white wedding tux, but he said, "I'm pretty sure that Peach wants to marry me anyway. She loves me just as much as I do her, if not more, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if that's exactly what she wants to do, since I cheated death and rescued her from Bowser."
"I'm sure of that, but if she saw you in the tux when you showed up to rescue her, and succeeded in stopping Bowser from claiming her as his wife, I'm willing to bet she would gladly ask you to marry her, right on the spot." Cappy said.
"No, she wouldn't, and I can name off several reasons why. First off, we're not engaged yet. I would much rather be engaged to Peach before I marry her, and she also wants to be engaged before she gets married. And besides, the engagement would give her subjects time to get used to the man she has chosen to rule by her side." Mario began.
"She and Bowser weren't engaged, either, but he seemed to have no problems with marrying her right away." Cappy said. Mario gave him an odd look, so he added, "But then again, Bowser's just a big jerk who never really loved Peach to begin with. His idea of love is to marry first, ask questions later."
"That's true. In fact, I should tell you that I was actually planning to ask Peach to marry me right after I rescued her." Mario said.
"You were?! She's safe now, so why didn't you pop the question yet?! Heck, why didn't you just get down on one knee and ask her to marry you right in front of Bowser?! He couldn't stop you because of his inflamed larynx, and we know that Peach would say yes! That would serve him right for taking your woman and trying to murder you!" Cappy said.
"Because I had planned to ask her after Bowser was dealt with. I was afraid that if I did so in front of him, he would not only try to kill me again, he would also end up destroying his throat. As much as I want to get back at him for trying to kill me in front of Peach, I didn't want him to go through the rest of his life as a mute. He's got eight kids, Cappy; all of whom are just as bad as he is. And they'd be quick to blame me for causing their dad to destroy his throat." Mario said.
"I see." Cappy said.
"All right, now I'll tell you the main reasons why I wouldn't go through with a wedding if I had to fight Bowser first. As you know, everything in Bowser's wedding was stolen by him and his wedding planners, and that includes the bride and her tiara. Who, besides Bowser, wants to get married in a wedding that was stolen? I wouldn't, and neither does Peach." Mario said.
"Good point." Cappy realized. Getting married in a stolen wedding was just... well... it was a really stupid idea, and from what they had seen, Bowser was stupid enough to attempt it, and even force Peach to go through with it, knowing that she hated it.
"Here's the next reason: you know that despite looking drop-dead gorgeous in a wedding dress that every bride yearns to wear since it's said to bring eternal happiness to whoever wears it, Peach didn't really go for the idea of wearing a stolen wedding dress. But I like to imagine that if the Lochladies saw how lovely she looked in their dress, they really wouldn't mind letting her wear it." Mario added.
"You're right about Peach not wanting to wear a stolen wedding dress. I saw how happy she looked when she was told that she could change out of it. And you've already seen the bride before the wedding; marrying her after seeing her in her wedding day splendor could be bad luck. However, should it really count since you weren't the groom when you saw her?" Cappy asked.
"I don't know. But I'm not really in the mood to find out. Now here's the final reason why I can't marry Peach just yet. Because she's una principessa, a princess, she told me that when she gets married, she wants to have the wedding in the Mushroom Kingdom so her loyal subjects, as well as our family members and friends, can be there to celebrate with us." Mario finished.
"Even though you know that you could very easily compensate for it after being married at the Moon Kingdom instead?" Cappy asked.
"Cappy, as tempting as it sounds for me to marry Peach in the Wedding Hall at the Moon Kingdom, I'm not going to do it. I know what my princess wants. I'm going to do the complete opposite of Bowser and respect her wishes." Mario said. Then he added, "And I don't think she's in the mood for marriage right now, since she was almost married to Bowser against her will. I'm going to wait and let her ask me the big question instead."
"You know what, Mario? I think Peach is a very lucky princess to have a man like you in her life; someone who listens to her, and respects her wishes and feelings. And another added bonus is that you're a handsome human man, not an ugly monster." Cappy said.
"How about you go in the Odyssey and tell her that?" Mario suggested.
"I don't have to. I think she already knows it." Cappy replied.
"You know, I really should go in the Odyssey and check on her; make sure that she's feeling okay. After all this time we spent apart, worrying about each other, she and I do need to spend more time together." Mario said.
"Yeah, Tiara needs more time with me, too, after they were forced to watch Bowser try to kill us." said Cappy, so he and Mario went into the Odyssey to find Peach and Tiara resting in the chairs Mario and Cappy usually occupied. They were talking very quietly, and they barely noticed that they were no longer alone.
"Hello, girls." Mario said as he entered the ship.
At first, the girls were startled and jumped at the sound of Mario's voice, but when they saw him innocently standing there with Cappy floating next to him, they relaxed.
"Mario, Peach wants to talk to you about something." Tiara said, flying to the plumber.
"She does?" Mario asked. Was she thinking about marrying him after all this? If she asked him, he would gladly accept.
"Yes, Mario. You didn't see it, but Bowser was constantly roaring and yelling in my ears." Peach began.
"Why, that miserable dirt-bag... Trying to kill me in front of you wasn't enough?! He wanted you to go deaf, too?!" Mario asked, trying hard not to yell. If the princess was close to going deaf, Mario was going to make sure it didn't become a harsh reality. What would the Mushroom people do if Peach couldn't hear anymore?
"Apparently." Tiara said.
"Who does he think he is?" Cappy asked.
"A roaring, boring moron, of course." Peach muttered, before asking Mario, "Anyway, I was going to ask: do you think you could check my ears and make sure that my eardrums are still intact? Please?"
"Oh, sure." Mario replied, his anger gone. He was still wearing his doctor garb, so he reached into his bag and took out his otoscope.
"Hold still, please." Mario said as he looked in her ears to make sure they were all right.
"Non preoccuparti. Don't worry, Peach. Your ears are fine, clean, and healthy." Mario said after checking her ears.
"I was hoping they were." Peach murmured, before asking, "Do you think I need to be... someplace quiet after all this?"
"It might be wise to spend a few days in a quiet place when we get home. Are there any rooms in your castle that are nice and quiet?" Mario asked.
"Well, the infirmary is usually nice and quiet. The walls are sound-proof, and the Royal Physician tends to be very quiet and soft-spoken; she doesn't make a lot of noise." Peach said.
"Okie-dokie. Spend a few days in there to let your ears recover from all the noise Bowser made. That should help you." Mario told her.
"Yes, doctor." Peach said, before saying, "Now let me pay you for the good advice."
"No, you don't owe me a coin." Mario told her.
"Well, I owe you something, and I think this will suffice." Peach replied, and with that, she pulled Mario close and gave him a big, smacking kiss on the lips.
"Mama-mia..." Mario said in a lovesick way when the kiss was over. He was blushing so terribly, he ended up putting his red necktie to shame.
"That's for saving my life, checking my ears, and seeing to it that I'm not getting married to a creep like Bowser." Peach told him.
"Bowser brought the cancellation of the wedding on himself, Peach. All I did was check his throat and see the damage he'd done to it. Then, because it looked so awful, I told him that he had to cancel the ceremony." Mario told her.
A few minutes later, the Odyssey landed at Honeylune Ridge. And by then, Mario had changed back into his usual attire (even though Peach thought he was cute as a doctor).
"So this is the moon..." Mario said as he disembarked the ship. To his complete surprise, he found that he didn't need to be dressed like an astronaut, the way he had when he went to the Space Zone, after Wario took over the castle Peach had built for him and Luigi to live in.
"You can come out, Peach. We don't need to be astronauts. We can breathe out here." Mario assured her.
"I hadn't really given that idea much thought when Bowser told me where the wedding would take place. But even then I thought he was crazy for thinking of having a wedding here. I don't want to get married in outer space." Peach said as she hitched up her skirts and followed Mario out of the ship.
"Told you." Mario whispered to Cappy.
"Wow, look at this place. It's so big and quiet out here." Tiara said as she looked around.
"Yeah." Peach replied.
"Hey, there's the Wedding Hall. If there are any guests in there, they must be wondering what's keeping the bride and groom. They might be questioning if there's a wedding at all, if they don't see the supplies in there." Cappy said.
"Hopefully, if anyone showed up, they showed up with the intention of objecting to the union." Tiara said.
"I hope that's what they wanted to do, because I was never in love with the groom, and he's the one who screwed up his chances of getting married today. Which is a very good thing, if you ask me." Peach replied.
"Let's-a go and see if anyone showed up. If people are there, we'll tell them the truth; the wedding is off." Mario said.
"What'll we do if the place is empty?" Tiara asked.
"Then we'll just head on home to the Mushroom Kingdom." Mario said.
"Tiara and I aren't from the Mushroom Kingdom." Cappy reminded him.
"Okay, we'll drop you and Tiara off in the Cap Kingdom, and then we'll go home." Mario promised.
"No, you can't. While you boys were talking to each other out on the deck, Peach and I decided to take another world tour. One to make up for the awful one that Bowser took us on." Tiara said.
"You were? Well, that sounds like a fun idea, and it's probably healthy for you girls to go back to those places. You can make happier memories to replace all the bad ones you received." Cappy replied.
"When do you plan to go?" Mario asked.
"I was thinking after we got back. But we should probably put that off until after I've rested my ears in the infirmary." Peach said.
"Might be wise. It'll even give you some time to plan out what you want to do." Mario said.
"Maybe we could do the same thing, Mario. Go back to all those kingdoms and look for some more Power Moons that we might have missed?" Cappy suggested.
When Tiara heard that, she quickly whispered something to Peach. The princess looked surprised, but then smiled and nodded as she whispered back, "That's just what I was thinking." Then Peach turned to look at Mario and Cappy and asked aloud, "Why don't you boys join us?"
"Vieni di nuovo? Come again?" Mario asked.
"If you boys want to go back to all those different kingdoms, Tiara and I were thinking that perhaps you wouldn't mind joining us on our tour?" Peach asked.
"You really wouldn't mind if we went along?" Cappy asked.
"You know what they say: the more, the merrier!" Tiara said.
Mario and Cappy thought about this and conversed in whispers.
"It would be a good excuse for us to continue travelling..." Cappy said.
"Yeah, and we could spend more time with our loved ones, and I think it's-a just what we're needing right about now." Mario replied.
"So we're gonna do it?" Cappy asked.
"Sì." Mario said, before turning to Peach and Tiara and saying, "We'd be honored to join you."
"Yay!" Tiara cheered. She flew over to Mario and gave him a big hug, saying, "I was hoping you would agree!"
"But first, we need to see if anyone decided to actually attend the wedding. If they did, then I think they have the right to know that they wasted their time." Mario said.
So they made their way to the Wedding Hall, wondering what they were going to see when they got there.
As they entered the Wedding Hall, they looked around with wide eyes, admiring the grandeur of the building.
"Mama-mia... this does look like a nice place to get married... but I don't think I'd want to do that here. I don't know why anyone would want to get married on the moon. I've heard of being over the moon when you're happy or in love, but this is just ridiculous." Mario replied.
"I'm with you, Mario. And now that I'm seeing what the venue looks like inside and out, I think I can see the reason why Bowser wanted to marry me here... But that doesn't mean I actually want to get married here, especially not to him. The idea of marrying him makes me want to throw up... all over his fruity white tuxedo... And if I'd had the chance, I would have taken it!" Peach said.
"Ooh, harsh..." said Cappy.
"Not harsh at all, when you think about what he put Peach through! Yeah, he did a lot worse than try to murder Mario and make Peach go deaf! That was just the tip of the iceberg!" Tiara said.
"We'll worry about all that later, Tiara. In the meantime, we've got to see if anyone showed up for a wedding that isn't going to happen." Mario said as he opened the doors to the main room, where the wedding was supposed to take place.
Surprisingly, the room was full of guests, all of whom where characters from the different kingdoms they had been through. They all turned to look in the direction of the doors when they heard them open. Imagine their surprise when they saw Mario standing there!
"Mama-mia!" Mario exclaimed when he saw all the people, including his good friend, Mayor Pauline of New Donk City.
"Hey, look! It's Mario!" Pauline called out, and everyone cheered at the sight of the red-clad plumber as he stood at the entrance.
"Grazie! Thank you!" Mario said, bowing shamelessly to the crowd.
Peach, Tiara, and Cappy then made their way into the room.
"So, can anyone tell us when this wedding is going to start?" asked a Volbonan.
"Yeah, when does it begin? We've been waiting for over an hour." said a Bubblainian.
"Never." Peach replied flatly.
"Never?!" the guests asked in unison.
"You sound surprised, like you were actually planning on seeing the wedding that was supposed to take place. But tell me the truth: did any of you really want to attend this wedding?" Mario asked.
"Noooooooo!" everyone replied, shaking their heads hard.
"I thought so." Mario mumbled to himself, before saying aloud, "And why is that?"
"Didn't you see the couple on the wedding posters? There was something really off about them." said the Tostarenan.
"You're right about that, because they're of different species. But please don't refer to them as a couple, because they aren't. The bride really hates the groom." Mario said, his voice stern.
"She does?" asked the Tostarenan.
"Oh yeah... and I have every right to hate him... The way he treats me..." Peach replied in a low, angry voice that everyone could still hear.
Tiara proceeded to tell everyone how Bowser screwed up his voice, making it impossible for him carry out his plans to marry the princess. Mario told them the problem with Bowser's throat, and how long he had to keep quiet.
"Good. He doesn't deserve that woman anyway." said the Volbonan.
"Yeah, she deserves someone better than him. Someone who will never yell at her." said a Shiverian.
"Someone like you, Mario." Pauline said.
Mario and Peach blushed at that, but then Peach said, "Anyway, we've come to tell you that the wedding has been cancelled, and the things that were stolen from your kingdoms are most likely being returned."
"Oh, good." everyone said. They all left the wedding venue after that, feeling fine.
Then Mario and his party made their way back to the Odyssey, and returned to the Mushroom Kingdom.
After Peach spent a few quiet days resting her ears and receiving treatment for them in her castle's infirmary, she was finally ready for the world tour with Tiara, Mario, and Cappy. They'd never had so much fun in all their lives, and Mario and Cappy found more Power Moons than they could count!
When they came home, Mario and Peach looked happier than Toadsworth had ever seen them. That was when they announced the news that they were engaged, and they would be marrying soon, much to the happiness of everyone but Bowser (who Kamek had to mute when word got around).
The End
Well, that's the end of that. Bowser screwed up his voice, and as a result, the wedding was cancelled, and Mario got the girl. Maybe he should learn to use a softer voice at all times. I hope you enjoyed watching him lose!
