As much as Steve loved Eddie, he was ready to throw him out of the car while it was still moving. He knew a five-hour drive alone with Eddie would be difficult, but he hadn't expected Eddie to start acting up in under the first hour. By hour four, Steve was praying for a rest stop.

He loved Robin and Nancy, but did they really have to go to college so far away?

"Hey, Steve, pull off at the next turn-off."

"Why?"

"Trust me?"

He risked looking at Eddie, and he smiled back brilliantly. Despite his annoyance, Steve wasn't immune to that grin, and sighing, he turned off the highway down what quickly turned into a dirt road. "Where are we going?"

"Saw a sign back there for an attraction. It looked fun, and you need a break."

Steve didn't argue. The road opened up after ten minutes onto a vast stretch of open space, a few cars already parked next to- "a corn maze? Seriously, Eddie?"

"Yes!" He was out before Steve had put the car in park and, ignoring his protests, ran around to open the door for him with a flourish. "Come on, Your Highness."

Rolling his eyes, Steve took Eddie's hand and allowed him to lead the way to the entrance. It was a couple of dollars to try, and raising his eyebrows got the point across. Eddie paid, smirking as he led Steve into the first corridor. Within minutes, they hit a dead end.

"You're really good at this," Steve deadpanned.

"Patience, young Padawan."

Fifteen minutes later, Steve was convinced they were lost. He swore they had passed the same dog hedge twice now. But he had to admit, it was kind of fun to let Eddie puzzle it out. Hopefully, it would drain him enough to nap for the last hour of the journey.

"Okay," Eddie sighed, stopping in front of the dog again, and he frowned at it. "I'll admit, it's a little harder than I thought it'd be."

Taking advantage of the stone benches, Steve sat down, and when he patted the spot beside him, Eddie joined him. It was a warm day and cocooned in the maze, it felt peaceful. The silence was magnified somehow. Even Eddie was being quiet, hand reaching out to cover Steve's. Nearby, they could hear others talking, but the words were muted by the thick walls of corn.

"Maybe we should just stay here," Steve said softly. "It's nice."

"Thank you, Eddie, for making me stop."

Steve shot Eddie a glare only to receive a smirk back. "Thanks."

"Close enough." Eddie kissed the back of his hand, looking around at the different paths. "Any gut feelings?"

Considering the many paths, Steve finally pointed to one on his left. "That one."

It led to a dead end.

"Nice hunch, detective."

"Shut up. How many dead ends did you lead us into?"

Eddie refused to answer the question, dragging Steve back to their seating area to try again. It took another two attempts to find a path that didn't end after a minute of walking. Steve was happy to keep going now because Eddie was holding his hand.

"Despite being lost in a corn maze, this is kinda fun."

"Wow. Steve Harrington admitting I was right?"

"I never said that."

"It's implied, sweetheart."

Steve smiled, tugging Eddie closer. He stumbled slightly, scowling in his adorable way that only made Steve want to kiss him. So he did, hand splaying across Eddie's lower back to keep him close. "Fine. You were right," he whispered sweetly against Eddie's lips. "Happy?"

"Mhmm." Eddie stole one more kiss before breaking free, dragging Steve around the corner. He gave a victorious shout, pointing down the long corridor to the exit. "There we go!"

"Come on, Munson, I'm starving, and they had a cafe."
