Steve was exhausted. He had spent most of the night baking and had gone to bed just as the sun had started to rise, only to be rudely awoken by Robin only a few hours later. She grinned down at him, unperturbed by his grimace. "You look like shit."

"Gee, thanks."

"Go shower, and I'll make coffee."

Steve felt a little better after his shower, accepting his coffee gratefully when he made it downstairs.

Robin was already halfway through a bowl of cereal, and she nodded at the plates laden down with cookies, strudels, cupcakes, and more. "What's all this?"

"It's Eddie's birthday." He ducked his head to drink when she raised her eyebrows, blaming the steam for his warm cheeks. "Everyone's coming over later. Got to have snacks."

"Uh-huh. What about an actual cake?"

"In the pantry."

Robin laughed long and hard. Steve ignored her.

He still had a lot of work to do before the others arrived and roped Robin in to help. Everything was ready just in time for the first knock at the door, and his house was suddenly besieged by a group of hungry teenagers chaperoned by Nancy.

Robin fixed her hair quickly, glaring at Steve when he snorted. "Not a word, nerd lover."

"Of course not, nerd lover."

Winking, Robin caught Nancy's arm, and they disappeared upstairs. Luckily, the kids were distracted by the array of food laid out for them.

Steve jumped when Eddie sidled up beside him and whistled lowly. "Where did you get all this, Stevie?"

"I made it," he admitted, pleased at the impressed look he got in return. "And your cake. Do you wanna do the honors?"

Eddie took the knife to cut into his cake, trying a piece. His eyes closed in apparent bliss, and when he opened them again, their warmth made Steve blush. "This, Steve, is amazing." And Eddie leaned over to kiss him. When they broke apart, Steve could only blink at him in shock, and Eddie grinned wide. "Too much?"

"Not enough." The words slipped out without permission, but before Steve could regret them, Eddie was kissing him again. They only stopped when Robin cleared her throat loudly, announcing her return. "Rob!"

"There are children present."

Steve looked at their horrified faces and smiled sheepishly. Eddie only laughed, digging into his cake.
