One good thing about befriending Steve Harrington was that Eddie could abuse his pool privileges. With the weather heating up, Steve had opened his doors to the kids and older teens alike, letting them take full advantage of the pool and barbecue since his parents had left for the summer.

Eddie made sure to drop by often after Dustin let slip that Steve didn't like to be alone. It wasn't like he had anything better to do after Gareth and Jeff had both left on family holidays. So why not annoy Steve when he got the chance? Except Steve seemed genuinely pleased every time he opened the door and found it was Eddie.

And with the summer finally arriving, Eddie spent almost every day at Steve's with the excuse of using his pool, along with the rest of the group. It was a rare day for it to be just the two of them, and he knew Steve loved having his house become the kid's hangout spot. Even if he complained about the constant mess and noise.

One thing he had noticed, though, was that Steve never got in the pool. It didn't take long to figure out why, Robin explaining what had happened with Barbara at that fateful pool party almost four years ago.

But he caught Steve looking at the water longingly a fair few times. So the answer was obvious: Steve just needed a little push.

Eddie put his plan into action on a day when it was just the two of them in case it all went disastrously wrong. Steve was standing by the edge of the pool when Eddie came through the back door, and he only glanced at him to see who it was, rolled his eyes, and went back to looking at the water, which was perfect for Eddie. It allowed him to get close and then, without warning, shoved Steve.

With a yell of surprise, Steve fell into the water. He resurfaced, spluttering and splashing water everywhere, and glared at Eddie when he got his bearings back. "What was that for, asshole?!"

Eddie just grinned and jumped in, too, splashing more water everywhere.

Steve was still unimpressed when he resurfaced. "Asshole."

"You already mentioned that." He flinched when Steve splashed him but then grinned again. "Oh, that's how you wanna play?"

What followed was a brief but explosive splashing war, resulted in water going everywhere. Panting, Eddie went to splash again, but his arm got grabbed, and he was pulled in close to Steve. This close, he could see the water clinging to Steve's eyelashes as his eyes flickered down to Eddie's lips. In seconds, he was closing the gap to kiss Eddie, all thoughts of fighting forgotten.

"You planned this," Eddie accused, no heat behind the words because he felt far too happy, still clinging to Steve.

Steve's lips quirked up slightly in response. "Did you?"

"Not all of it." Eddie leaned in to kiss him again, just because he could. He already felt addicted to the warm press of Steve's lips. "But I'm not opposed."

"Me neither. But let's get out and change. I'm freezing."
