"For you, m'lady."
Eddie looked up from his campaign notes in time to Steve bow low, producing a bunch of flowers from behind his back for Max. She rolled her eyes but accepted them with decidedly pink cheeks.
Next to him, Robin scoffed. "God, it's like he doesn't know how to turn it off."
"Sickening, right?" Eddie was, therefore, surprised when a daisy landed on his sketchbook, looking up at the smirking Steve. "W-what?"
"Didn't want you to feel left out, Munson." Steve winked, laughing as Eddie's face turned red.
Robin gave him the most disgusted look as Steve left them, distracted by Lucas throwing a basketball over. "Sickening."
Eddie ignored her, closing his book to keep the flower safe.
Later that night, as he sat outside his trailer smoking, Eddie opened his book to look at the daisy again. It was slightly flattened but still pretty in full bloom, white petals shining in the streetlights. He twirled it between his fingers, feeling the ghost of his blush returning. Maybe he should return the favor.
The problem was Eddie couldn't afford to buy flowers.
But he did have a whole ass wood for his backyard. Surely there was something pretty in there worthy of Steve?
Eddie got up before he could talk himself out of it and set off hunting. It was more complicated than he thought, especially in the dark. Determined to find something, he kept searching. Finally, he stumbled into a small clearing full of different bunches of flowers and spent a while picking from each bunch. In the center, he found a beautiful patch of sunflowers and took one, thinking of Steve's bright smile.
Back at home, Eddie found an old vase to put everything in. Still, it didn't feel complete, so he wrapped strips of blue and white fabric around the vase, reminiscent of Steve's Scoops Ahoy uniform. Satisfied, Eddie carefully placed the vase on the table to deliver in the morning.
Up early with his nerves, Eddie drove to Steve's and knocked on the door nervously. When Steve answered, Eddie all but shoved the vase into his face, feeling his own burn. "Here! Um, thanks for the daisy. Figured it was only fair."
Steve took the flowers numbly, face unreadable. For one horrible second, Eddie thought he had ruined everything, but then Steve smiled wide, yanking him into a kiss. Eddie melted into it, lips curving in a smile so wide he couldn't kiss Steve properly.
"Do you want to come in?" Steve asked, stepping back. "Help me find somewhere to put these."
