More sessions passed. Bell had improved in horsemanship, and with the lance. He had gotten so much better, Noel deemed him no longer needing her tutilage every day. Now he was only training with her for two, or three afternoons out of the week. Bell was taking a day off from training, and relaxing in his room, listening to the radio, and trying not to fall asleep on his bed when a knocking came at my door.
Not bothering to put on a shirt, the young man got off the bed, and padded over to the door. Opening it sure enough to find Noel there on the other side. Making him turn red from head to toe. "N-Noel?!"
Noel also went red seeing Bell in such a state of undress. Unlike him she was dressed quite conservatively in a pale green jacket, and low-heeled pumps with a shin-length, pleated, light green dress. "Bell... I wanted to see if you wanted to hang out today?" She began a bit awkwardly.
"Yeah sure! Give me a minute!" He said samming the door in her face practically for a minute while he threw on a shirt, socks, and shoes. Once he was dressed, he reopened the door to meet her. "Okay, sorry about that, I'm ready."
Noel nodded, and then smiled. "Let's go then." She said leading him onward.
It was a long walk. Noel for her part tried to keep up the conversation with all sorts of questions. Asking about family, hobbies, etc.
"There's not much to say." He admitted. "I've been an Orphan ever since I can remember. My parents have no records even. I grew up in an Orphanage, still I worked hard, studied, and was able to save up enough money and get good enough grades to get into Winford." He said. "As for hobbies. I guess there's jousting of course. I also like to run and walk. There's also reading. I love books about heroes, and adventures, I often dreamed about living such an exiting life when I was little, but... well the world doesn't work that way it seems." He sighed before smiling. "That's why I decided to get into jousting. It seems to be the best way for a nobody in this country to become something better than themselves."
Noel just stopped walking for a bit. Her eyes widened. "You're an Orphan... I'm so sorry... That must have been hard for you."
Bell shrugged it off. "I'm sure it was. Still, I don't like to dwell on it. What's past is past. It's the future we have to look directly at, you know what I mean?" He asked.
Noel smiled. "You're right. I applaud your optimism." She said ruffling his hair again. "Come on, you'll love this." She said leading him onward.
"An... Arcade?" Bell asked confused as to the building she brought him to.
"Yeah, it just opened about 2 months ago." Noel smiled. "I wasn't sure where else to bring you besides the cafe, then I read about this place."
Bell just blushed. "Even still, aren't we a bit old for a place like this?" He asked concerned.
"Oh, come now." She teased dragging him inside. "We're still teenagers, it's no big deal." She smiled. "Race ya to the ball pit!" She said quickly rushing to a small pit full of plastic balls and diving right in while tossing aside her shoes mid-dive. Bell just nervously made his way to the pit only for Noel to grab his hand and pull him in on top of her with a resounding yank. "Ah!" he cried falling on top of her under the colorful spheres as she just laughed. "Too slow my guy." She laughed.
"That... wasn't funny." Bell said despite trying to hold back some giggles himself.
"And yet you are laughing." She said bouncing a random ball off his forehead playfully.
"I'll show you laughing." He said diving in and tickling her sides.
"EEEEK! HAHAHAHHAHHAA NOFAIR!" She cried trying to get away as he chased after her laughing all the while.
