Gwaine yelled in frustration as he swung his sword at the invisible wall. The sword bounced off the wall yet again. "This isn't working," Leon said.
"We must keep trying," Elyan said. "What else is there to do?"
The knights looked to Arthur for guidance, but the King merely stared at the wall in anger. Arthur had been going about his day as usual when he witnessed a shadow slide across the wall in the eastern corridor. Arthur had immediately withdrawn is sword, for the shadow moved in a way that was highly unnatural, and Arthur suspected sorcery. However, when Arthur had gone to investigate, the shadow jumped him and stole his body, sending Arthur into unconsciousness. When Arthur awoke, he was in his chambers, sealed away behind some sort of invisible wall. Merlin had gone into the King's chambers several times that day, but each time Merlin was unable to see Arthur behind the magical wall, despite Arthur's screams.
The knights had each had their own visit with the shadow. Leon, Elyan, Gwaine, and Percival had all been jumped by the shadow the same way, and had all ended up behind the wall one by one. Percival learned that the shadow was a shapeshifter, as he saw it turn from Eylan into Gwaine. That's when Percival decided to draw his sword, but he was no match for the shadow.
They had now been behind the wall for hours, trying to design an escape plan, although the only ideas they could seem to muster involved attacking the wall, and the wall has proven to be indestructable. Of course, that knowledge could never deter Gwaine from trying to give the wall a black eye.
"Gwaine, that's enough," Arthur said. "It's no use."
Suddenly, the door slammed open without a knock and it was Merlin. The knights yelled and banged on the wall as loud as they could, though they knew it was of no use. Merlin bustled around the room busily, although he seemed slightly dismayed. Perhaps he noticed that something was off. They could only hope. Arthur and the other knights watched Merlin helplessly, having given up on trying to get his attention.
Suddenly, the door swung open and the creature disguised as Arthur waltzed into Arthur's chambers. Before anyone could react, the creature walked straight up to Merlin and kissed him on the lips.
All eyes were wide except for Merlin's, for as soon as Arthur's lips separated from his own, Merlin couldn't help but smile wide. He wasn't sure why it made him smile. The kiss was short, yet nice. He figured Arthur was trying to be funny, either that or he just received the best news of his life. "What's got you in such a good mood?" Merlin asked, still smiling against his will. What could he say? Arthur's mood was infectious.
"Nothing," Arthur said nonchalantly, breezing past Merlin and taking a cursory glance at some papers on his desk.
"Nothing?" Merlin repeated, his eyebrow raised, but his grin still strong.
Arthur turned to look at Merlin with a slightly amused look on his face before briskly walking back over to Merlin. Without missing a beat, he grabbed Merlin's wrist and pulled him onto the bed before crawling on top of him. Merlin's smile faded in confusion as he found himself lying on his back with the King hovering above him.
"Merlin, you are the most beautiful creature I have ever seen," Arthur said, looking down on Merlin.
Merlin burst into laughter. He had never seen Arthur in such a good mood before. He was being very uncharacteristically funny and Merlin was loving it. Arthur ignored Merlin's laughter and reached under the bed to grab some heavy chains that he had waiting for him. He lifted Merlin's hands above his head and began to fasten the chains around his wrists. "You have a long night ahead of you," Arthur said casually.
Merlin laughed as he looked at Arthur incredulously, unable to comprehend what had come over his friend. Still convinced that this was a joke, Merlin did not resist as Arthur cuffed and chained his wrists above his head. "That's better," Arthur said. Without hesitation he leaned down and began to sprinkle Merlin with several small kisses on his cheek and neck.
Merlin tensed up, realizing that his friend might actually be hitting on him. Merlin felt a wave of confusion and guilt as he tried to find a way to let his friend down softly. "Very funny, Arthur, but I'm actually not interested," he said. Arthur ignored him and began to suck on his neck. Merlin jumped when he felt Arthur's tongue, and he stuttered, "Arthur, stop." He felt a pang of guilt, as it seemed that Arthur has had some sort of revelation about either his sexuality or his love for Merlin, and Merlin felt guilty for having to rain on Arthur's parade.
Arthur merely responded by sucking harder and was now grinding his hips against Merlin's. This action sent alarm bells in Merlin's head, and his tone grew serious. "Arthur, no," Merlin said in a stern, clear voice. Arthur once again ignored him and instead reached for Merlin's belt. Merlin panicked, forced to acknowledge the reality of the situation, though he still had hope that Arthur might listen. "Arthur, no. No. No!" Arthur silenced Merlin by punching him in the face. Merlin fell silent and still, his mind no longer able to comprehend what was happening to him. He lay there in complete and utter confusion, unable to form so much as a single thought.
Arthur eagerly pulled down Merlin's trousers, and without missing a beat he shoved himself inside of Merlin. Merlin's face contorted in pain and his mouth fell open, though he barely made a sound as he clutched onto Arthur for dear life. Arthur went in again another few times before Merlin snapped out of his stupor and realized that he could use his magic to free himself. Arthur was staring at him intensely, and Merlin knew that he couldn't use magic without getting caught. He tried to figure out the best way to use his magic, but every option he thought of involved hurting Arthur. Despite the circumstances, harming Arthur was against Merlin's very nature, and every time Merlin tried to get his thoughts together, his head would slam into the headboard and his King would shove himself into him so hard that Merlin thought he might pass out.
Before Merlin could make up his mind, it was over. Arthur came inside him before pulling out and lying on his back at the foot of the bed, catching his breath. They lay there in silence for minutes before Arthur finally stood up and left the room without a word.
Hello, everyone. I'm sorry I didn't include Arthur and the knights' reactions, but I'm sure you can guess that it was pretty much a bunch of screaming and pounding on the wall. I invite you to fill in the blanks with your imagination. However, you will get the boys' reactions in the next chapter. I hope you enjoyed and thank you very much for reading.
