Author's Note: I haven't updated this story in a while. I'm not very pleased with this chapter. I'm afraid I'm still feeling that writer's block. Any who, I hope you enjoy it. Next chapter should be at least better.

Chapter Nine

Sango stood by the doorway watching Kagome sleep. She had poison in her hand ready to administer it to Kagome. Guilt began to overwhelm her.

"How could I do this to her? Kagome is my friend." She thought

Sango moved closer and sat by her friend. Kagome slept peacefully, she looked like a princess waiting for her prince to come kiss her and wake her up. Sango closed her eyes tightly as tears began to fall down her face. The decision to poison her friend was becoming too much. Her feelings for Inuyasha were starting to plague her mind. She needed that white haired man. Sango wiped the tears from her face and began to open Kagome's mouth.

"Sango. What are you doing?" Miroku was standing by the doorway.

"I… Miroku." Was all Sango managed to say as she began to cry.

Miroku comforted Sango wondering why she would try to re-poison their friend. Miroku started to have suspicion that Sango was falling for someone else. As much as it hurt, he had to be there for her. Miroku has kept his feelings to himself when it came to Sango. He was always hitting on other women in front of her that would cause her to slap him across the face. Miroku had to know what Sango's intentions were.

"Why were you… What has brought on this…" Miroku's voice trailed off. He was trying to put his thoughts into words.

"I… I don't know Miroku. I'm a bad… friend… for wanting… her… to die." Sango said in between breaths as she wept.

"No one has to know about this." Miroku said, as he pulled Sango's face towards him, as the tears shed down both sides of her face. He wiped away the tears with his thumbs and pulled her close to him, kissing her forehead.

The next morning Sango stared at the bottle of poison. Debating on whether or not to pour it out or just keep it.

"I'll take that." said Miroku as he quickly grabbed it from Sango.

"Miroku. Said Sango

"Yes?" replied Miroku

"Thank you." Sango gave a slight smile.

Miroku smiled back and nodded his head signaling any time. He turned to leave the hut, but before leaving he said, "I know."

Sango's eyes grew wide, "What?" but before she could speak, Miroku was already gone.

Miroku walked along the river looking at the bottle of poison. He had debates of whether to dispose of it in the river or hold onto it for when he came across a demon. Miroku was in disbelief that Sango had feelings for InuYasha. That night he wanted to let her know how he truly felt about her. He didn't understand why she would want to get rid of Kagome.

Sango, what are your intentions? What do you think would happen if you got rid of Kagome? Miroku sat in silence lost in his thoughts as he sat by the river. I have to protect Kagome or convince her to go back to her own time.

Sango was working on her hiraikotsu when Miroku came back from the river. She looked up at him and then away as she went back to work. Miroku went to check in on InuYasha and found him sound asleep. He then decided to go check on Kagome. Shippou was there tending to Kagome's neck.

"How is she?" Miroku asked.

"She's doing okay. She just needs a little more rest." said Shippou.

"Mind if I hang out here for a bit?" asked Miroku. Shippou just nodded his head as he placed a wet rag on Kagome's forehead.

"I plan on taking her with me." Koga said from the doorway. "There's no way that mutt can protect her with no memories of who she is. Plus, perfect time to steal Kagome."

Koga's fist had tightened as if he was ready to fight at any moment. Miroku had a slight grin on his face when he heard those words.

"Please do. She will be safer." agreed Miroku, then began to chuckle.
