It was a warm spring sunset in the hills of Mobius. The horizon was a beautiful orange and pink as a certain bat was gliding through the breathtaking skies, taking in the view and definitely not coming off of a successful heist or anything of the sort.
"Ah, another day, another gem for me to call my own." Rouge gloated as she admired her newest prize, which was a gorgeous sapphire. "Not as glamorous as a Chaos Emerald, but I suppose it'll do for the time being."
Then, the bat could hear some voices down on the ground. Rouge looked down to see Sonic and Amy having a conversation, and it didn't sound as if it was going well for Amy. She glided down behind a nearby tree and eavesdropped on the two.
"But, Sonic, we can make it work! Whatever it is, I promise!" Amy begged, tears streaming from her eyes.
"Amy, it's not you, I promise, it's me. I've had some things come up that I can't quite explain at this moment but I promise you I will the moment I can, but I can't be with you while I'm going through this. I'm so sorry." Sonic told her, actually holding back tears himself. He kissed Amy's cheek before running off into the sunset, leaving behind a confused and heartbroken Amy, who fell to her knees, sobbing uncontrollably.
Rouge, usually not the most sympathetic person, couldn't help but feel awful for seeing Amy like this and couldn't help but run out to check on her.
"Amy." She said.
"O-oh, hi, Rouge." Amy said, trying to quickly stop crying and regain her composure in the bat's presence.
"Amy, I saw just about everything that happened with Sonic just now. You don't have to hide anything." Rouge told her, to which Amy immediately started bawling again.
"Rouge, Sonic broke up with me!" She yelled as she clamped onto Rouge tightly, in which the bat did the only thing she could have done, which was just hold her while she cried her eyes out.
"Did he say why?"
"H-he told he he couldn't explain it to me right now."
"I don't know why that would be, but what I do know is that if he wasn't brave enough to be completely honest with you, then forget him!" Rouge stated.
Amy sniffed and eased up a bit.
"I-I guess you're right. Hey, Rouge?"
"Yeah?"
"Could you come stay with me tonight? I don't really feel like being alone. If not, I get it. I wouldn't want to be around a crybaby."
"Nonsense. I'll come stay with you. It's not a problem at all." Rouge answered.
"T-thank you, Rouge." Amy smiled as she pulled Rouge into a tight hug.
'Wow, Sonic wasn't lying went he said Amy gave tight hugs.' Rouge said to herself in her head before the two made their way to Amy's house.
Amy's House, 20 Minutes Later
The two had arrived back at Amy's House where they were both currently sitting on the hedgehog's couch, talking about relationships.
"Relationships are a pain in some capacity. I mean even the best relationships have bumps in the road. Everyone disagrees from to time to time. Did you and Sonic have any bad arguments recently?" Rouge asked, trying to piece some things together.
"No. Me and Sonic were always going steady, or so I thought we were until tonight." Amy sighed.
"I would have figured that he would have given some kind of reason."
"He said he couldn't tell me why he was breaking up with me at the moment and that he was going through something." Amy said.
Rouge had a thought pop up in her mind.
"I may have an idea of what he's talking about."
"What?" Amy asked, now intrigued to hear what Rouge had to say.
"Amy, Sonic may be gay."
"What? Rouge, that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard!"
"No, listen to me for a moment, Amy. Sometimes when you're in a relationship, you learn some things about yourself that you either didn't know or suppressed from yourself, and it's possible that Sonic either learned that he was into men or that he's always been into men and never embraced it. Now that doesn't mean he didn't love you. He did it so where he couldn't hurt you further than he was if this is the case. He didn't want to lie to you." Rouge explained in the best way she could.
"How do you know all this?"
"I kinda know from experience." Rouge eased out, slightly blushing, causing Amy to gasp in surprise.
"Wait a second, Rouge, are you a lesiban?" Amy asked, to which the bat nodded. "I had no idea."
"Nobody did. The old person who knew before you did was Shadow. I actually dated him for a bit after my relationship with Knuckles ended. I figured out that I was into girls and I told him, in which he said he understood and so we just stayed friends."
"I never in a thousand years would have thought you were gay, or that possibly Sonic was gay."
"I kinda knew I was a lesbian for quite some time honestly. It was only then did I fully realize and embrace it."
"Hey, at least you had the courage to be you and if Sonic is figuring out he's gay, then I need to give him his respect. Well, I will as long as he tells me and doesn't try to hide it from me." Amy told her. "Also, I'm just curious, but do you have a girlfriend?"
"No, but I do have a few crushes."
"Oooh! Who are you crushing on? Blaze?"
"She's really cute, but no."
"Sally?"
"No, she's a little too bitchy for my liking."
"Vanilla?"
"No. I'm not necessarily into older women."
"Then who?"
"You really want to know?"
"Yes." Amy said, smile on her face.
Rouge sighed and took a deep breath.
"You."
Amy was stunned.
"M-me?"
"Amy, I've been hiding these feelings for a long time now and I feel as if I need to tell you now while I can. You are smart, sweet, caring, and absolutely beautiful. I fell for you the very first time I ever set my eyes on you."
"Wow." Amy said, her face still expressionless. "I don't know what to say."
"I should probably leave now." Rouge said as she began to get up, but quickly felt Amy grab her arm in protest.
"No, don't leave."
Rouge then sat back down while Amy scooted closer to her, making the bat feeling a little fuzzy inside.
"I get that you're not gay, Amy. I've wanted to tell you for a while, but I knew how you felt about Sonic, so I obviously just kept it to myself."
"Well, to be completely honest, Rouge, I've had thoughts about being with girls before."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I'm big on love, remember? It doesn't matter if you're straight, gay, or whatever you want to do, as long as you're happy, that's the most important thing. And, to add on, I've always thought you were really attractive, too." Amy said, now slightly blushing after that last statement.
Rouge then began to lean in, but stopped right in front of Amy's face.
"It's alright, Rouge." Amy whispered as she closed the gap between them, her lips now on the bat's.
Rouge couldn't actually believe that her crush was kissing her right now. She immediately melted into the kiss, wrapping her arms around the pink hedgehog, who followed suit. The kiss lasted about a minute until they broke for air.
"Amy, I don't want you to feel as if you need to be with me just because I told you my feelings." Rouge said to her.
"No, that's not why. I feel something with you that I could feel with Sonic. I want to be with you, Rouge." Amy told her before kissing her again, this time more passionately, moaning into the kiss as she licked Rouge's bottom lip, taking the bat slightly by surprise, but let her in as their tongues wrestled with each other, the two being overtaken by the bliss of their kiss. Rouge pushed Amy down on the couch and slammed her lips on hers, starting another make out session that lasted about 5 minutes. The two then broke for air.
"Wow, Amy, you've got quite the kiss." Rouge giggled.
"I could say the same about you." Amy added as she cuddled up to Rouge.
"So are you willing to give dating a woman a shot?"
"As long as it's you, then absolutely." Amy smiled as she pecked Rouge's lips and the two cuddled together as Amy then tuned on the tv.
