A few weeks had passed since Rouge and Amy had gotten together and they were both living the dream in one another's company. The two were currently cuddled up in bed, watching TV before bed, enjoying each other's company.
"Hey, Amy?" Rouge asked.
"Yeah, baby?" Amy said, making Rouge slightly blush at her nickname.
"Have you heard from Sonic recently?"
Sonic.
Amy hadn't heard that name since the night he left her, which was the same night Amy learned that Rouge was actually a lesbian and had a crush on her of all people. Rouge had the theory that Sonic might have been a closeted homosexual that finally admitted to himself that he was in fact gay and had to let the pink hedgehog down easy without completing scaring her.
"No. I haven't heard from him since that night." Amy answered. "Why do you ask?"
"Well, I think it's time we all had a little talk. We need to tell him about us, especially if he thinks he can just run back to you after leaving, even though I'm sticking with what I originally said." Rouge said.
"I-I don't know, Rouge." Amy answered in a nervous tone.
"Are you scared, Amy?"
"Part of me is."
"Why?"
"I don't know why. I'm happy I'm with you, but part of me is afraid of the idea that what if you're wrong about him? What if he isn't gay? What if he had something Eggman related that he wanted to protect me from?" Amy told her.
"Is that what you're wanting?" Rouge asked, perking up.
"WHAT? No, absolutely not! I love YOU, Rouge. I'm over Sonic and I'm fully invested in you, in us, no matter what! If Sonic was to come back wanting me, he'd just be out of luck! He's my friend, but he'll never be my boyfriend again." The pink hedgehog said. "I promise you, Rouge, it's me and you and I'll never do that to you. I mean it."
Rouge sighed.
"I believe you, Amy. Thank you." Rouge smiled before pulling Amy in for a loving kiss.
Next Morning
Rouge yawned as her eyes began to open up for the day. She felt Amy cuddling up with her, in which she smiled at the sight of, still not actually believing that she was in a relationship with her longtime crush.
"You're so beautiful." The bat whispered before pecking the hedgehog's forehead. She eased out of the bed and walked into the living room where she heard a knock on the door.
"I wonder who that is this early?" She asked herself as she walked over to answer the door. Upon opening it, she was surprised to see who was. "Sonic?"
"Rouge, what are you doing here so early?" Sonic reacted, just as surprised to see her as she was to see him.
"It's a story to tell, hon."
"Then that makes two of us."
"I'll say. I'm guessing this has to do with what happened between you and Amy, doesn't it?"
Sonic pinned his ears and frowned.
"I hope she'll still listen to me."
"Depends on if you're here to get back with her."
"That I'm not. I love and care for Amy, but after some self reflecting and deep thinking, dating her couldn't continue, and I'll be happy to tell you both everything."
"Then come on in, Sonic." Amy said from behind, making Rouge slightly jump.
"Thank you." Sonic said as he walked into the house he knew pretty well, though this time feeling like a total stranger, and taking a seat on the couch.
Amy and Rouge also took their seats on the adjacent couch in the living room.
"I guess I should start. I'm gonna be honest, I've been rehearsing this ever since the night I left so I'm just going to come right out and say it.
"Say whatever it is you need to say." Amy said in straightforward, but confronting tone.
Sonic took in a deep breath.
"Amy, I'm gay."
Amy just had a smile.
"So Rouge was right all along."
"Huh?" Sonic reacted, confused.
"I actually talked to Amy immediately after you left and I just came to the conclusion that perhaps you were learning that you were homosexual." Rouge explained.
"That's exactly right! How in the world did you guess that?"
"I know because I went through that, too."
"You're gay?"
Rouge nodded.
"Wait, does that mean-"
"Yes, me and Rouge are together." Amy said as she pecked Rouge's cheek.
"Well all right. I'm so glad you're happy, Amy, and I'm so sorry for how I ended things between us. I could have done a much better job of telling you." Sonic told her.
Amy got up and pulled Sonic into a massive hug, kissing his forehead.
"I forgive you, Sonic. As long as you're happy, I'm happy." She said.
"Same goes for you." Sonic added.
"So, Sonic, are you seeing anyone?" Rouge asked.
"Me and Silver are actually together. He's got an apartment here in Station Square and I moved in with him. We've already had quite a whirlwind of events happen to us, but that's a different story of a different time." The Blue Blur stated.
"Silver, huh? I can see it. Have you told anyone else?" Amy asked.
"Besides you two, just Tails and Knuckles. Tails was completely supporting, Knuckles was pretty surprised, but said he had my back."
"Well that's good to hear." Rouge put in.
"Well, I should be getting back. Silver is probably up and I told him we would have breakfast together. I'll see you guys around." Sonic said before heading out.
"Bye, Sonic!" Amy waved before turning back to face her girlfriend. "That went well."
"See? I told you. I know it when I see it."
"Well, I'm glad you saw it. You want some breakfast?" Amy asked as she pulled Rouge up off the couch and kissed her.
"If it's with you, absolutely!" Rouge giggled before pulling her into a deeper kiss while leading her to the kitchen.
