She looked at the assembly of the most important people of Astera.
The commander, the heads of the research centers, the admiral, second fleet master… each leaders of their own, large, part of the human presence in the new world. Each sitting around the table covered in maps and notes.
As well as paranoid hunter, who was just sort of sitting at the edge because he had nothing else to do.
"Now that everyone's here you can begin telling us what you saw," the commander said to her and her partner, moving aside from the head of the table to give them space.
"Thank you commander," it was her handler who thanked the commander, before she stepped forward to face the assembled group, "now, as you may know two days ago there had been reports of the main crystal structure in the elders recess lighting up."
"We already know this, just move onto the part involving our newest magic friend would you," the second fleet master was the one who said that, causing the handler to turn back towards her.
Which she took as a que to step forward to the head of the table.
"We went to go investigate, saw the Interius also going towards the location," she said curtly, her mind flashing back to the moment, "so I went ahead and followed it…"
Her POV Two Days Ago
Hiding under her ghille mantle she guided her wing drake to quickly follow the titanic creature that was rapidly wading through the waters. Something which wasn't really working out for her since she was falling behind more and more.
But thankfully it stopped soon, before she completely lost it, inside a massive cavern of crystals. Giving her enough time to land on a nearby outcropping of crystals and observe…
Observe as a gigantic blue elder dragon, and what else could it be, barrelled through the wall that even an elder dragon couldn't scratch.
And then, in response to the threat, Interius just lit up in a gold edged black aura.
… did it just instantly enrage?
Back to present
"You're saying that it enraged without any damaging stimuli?" the head of ecological research interrupted her.
"Yes. Or at least that's what it looked like."
"…troubling. Very troubling"
Two Days Ago
Apparently it did as, when the blue dragon charged, it blew out a breath so powerful she had to brace herself against the shockwave that extended from the line of gold and black.
Which also blasted a hole into the dragon which could break through those indestructible crystals.
Because of course it did.
And it turns out that the "breath" it used was also poisoned with sleep based poison, because of course, judging by the way the blue dragon was nodding off.
Present
"Are you sure it had poison?" this time it was the seeker who interrupted her.
"Yes, I'm pretty sure that the blood samples we got from the blue elder dragon-"
"Xeno'jiiva," the ecological research head interrupted, getting a blank yellow stare from her.
"- from Xeno'jiiva showed traces of poison in it. Lethal, paralysing and sedating," she turned back to and informed the seeker, who just began mumbling something."
"…does it possess all elements…. even that one doesn't… gold?…"
But she just ignored that, along with the furious scribbling sounds from paranoid hunter and once again returned to her recounting.
Two Days Ago
Eventually, and inevitably, Xeno'jiiva succumbed to the sedative it'd been hit with and momentarily faltered.
Which the other beast took full advantage of as it charged the half-asleep monster, with the expected sonic boom which was associated with it, and began absolutely tearing into it. Even ripping off one of the large wings on Xeno'jiiva's back with little effort.
And then she was blinded by a bright blue light, which cut off, before she could actually adapt, just as abruptly as it came.
Revealing that the Interius, missing chunks of its frontal scales and skin, standing there with Xeno'jiiva's neck in it's grip.
Back to Present
"Then it just snapped it's neck and roared loud enough to give a Diablos a run for it's money," she finished, "any questions?"
"… how long did it take to recover the damage," everyone turned at the question, discovering it was The Huntsman who asked it.
"Well…" she took a moment to think," by the time I lost sight of it from there it'd recovered more or less fully."
There was silence after she said that, as everyone took a moment to come to terms with that level of recovery. One that'd only been shown by Nergigante, and a few specific Elder Dragons till now.
"So. What now?" the third fleet master was the one to ask. To which the commander once again stepped up to the front, with her quickly getting out of the way,
"For now we prepare," he began, "We must make sure that, should it attack us, we are fully prepared. Now, we do have time. Because while we would be in a dire strait if it were to attack, we have evidence showing that Interius, while destructive, does not seem interested in humans."
She heard more than a few snorts at that, and she herself was one of them.
Because yes, Aiden coming back buck naked from the ancient forest, after having his armour jacked by the giant monster, was indeed proof alright.
It was also something that never failed to make her happy, especially when she remembered the face of his very serious handler when he walked up to her holding the half crumbled knife like a kid showing their parents something cool. All while buck ass naked.
The look on her face as she avoided looking at his free dangly bits was absolutely hilarious.
Unfortunately, that humour quickly faded into aggravation as the voice of Paranoid Hunter, whose name she refused to learn at this point, came from the side.
"Commander, what are you going to do about it's very obvious divinity?"
"…the words of the Lynians known to use hallucinogenic mushrooms is not enough to declare it divine Pierce. Even if they had a new wonder material," was the aggravated reply from the commander.
And before she had to listen to that she just grabbed the poster for the notice board and left to stick it on there. Which she did right before going to the canteen to get some food.
