Izuku
As of approximately ten minutes ago, Izuku Midoriya had turned fourteen. Waking up that sunny Sunday morning, he had expected several things. He had expected to be greeted by his loving mother, he had expected his father to not be there, he had expected to still not have any friends, he had expected to still not have a Quirk, to be told by the universe that his dream was laughably out of reach.
He had not, however, expected to be greeted by a floating text box that he found himself incapable of touching.
Greetings!, it says, On this day, the fourteenth anniversary of your birth, the gods have decided to bless you! In line with your wishes and prayers to become a Hero, you have been granted a Quirk! To receive a tutorial on the workings of your newfound ability, please say the word Tutorial.
Clearing his throat, the young boy nervously speaks aloud, "Tutorial."
Responding to his command, the text box shifts as a new message appears.
Excellent! To begin, you must create your character sheet. However, as you are starting at level zero and have no knowledge of the character creation process, you have been assigned a guide! Your guide has been made aware of their position and they are currently awaiting your arrival. To continue, please proceed to the following address.
Looking up the address on his phone, Izuku is pleasantly surprised to find the address is only a thirty-five minute walk. Hastily dressing himself, Izuku dashes to the front door and shoves his shoes on. Palm on the door handle, Izuku is stopped by the approach of his mother, Inko Midoriya.
"Izuku, where are you going? I know birthdays can be exciting, but I've never seen you this hurried about anything since you heard Death Arms was visiting the convention center last year."
Izuku pauses for a second, concocting an answer that won't make his mother suspicious, "Well… I… promised to meet someone! And I'm running late! Gotta go! Love you, bye!"
Izuku quickly exits the apartment he and his mother share, speed walking towards his destination. It pains his heart to lie to his mother like that, but he couldn't think of anything else to say that wouldn't involve him sounding like a lunatic.
Picking up speed as he comes to a street with businesses lining both sides, he nearly trips over himself when he realizes he's run past where he's supposed to go. Doubling back, Izuku takes a moment to observe the building.
It's a quaint little cafe, only two stories, with the rich smells of coffee and delicious baked goods wafting out from inside. From what he can see, Izuku notices that the inside seems to be themed around an old bar or tavern. The counters, tables, chairs, floor, and freestanding pillars are all paneled with polished wood. The furniture is all made of a similar material, with crimson upholstery providing a nice, welcoming aesthetic to the place. Looking up, Izuku can see that the wooden sign above the door reads 'Quincy's Cafe'. With a deep breath, Izuku makes his way into the shop, hoping to find his supposed guide.
As soon as he crosses the threshold, a polite voice calls out to him from behind the counter, "Hey! Welcome to Quincy's Cafe! What can I get you?"
Turning towards the voice, reply on his lips, Izuku nearly chokes on his words as the sight of the barista. She's tall, with vibrant amethyst colored skin, pointed ears, and long, wavy, raven black hair pulled up into a ponytail. Her most defining features, however, are the curling ebony horns sprouting from behind her temples and twisting forwards before pulling up to form a small arch over her head, and her eyes.
Her eyes are full, with no difference between, or even evidence of, sclera irises and pupils. They're simply there, wide, humorous, and a soft, glowing orange. Seeing this girl, Izuku feels drawn to her. He wants to know her name, her likes, her dislikes, everything!
Realizing he's staring, Izuku averts his eyes before shuffling up to the counter. As he arrives, he swallows his fear, anxiety, and the other odd feeling welling up inside himself that he can't name, taking a deep breath to steady his mind and voice.
"H-hi, my name is Izuku Midoriya. I'm supposed to meet someone here?"
Hearing his name, the girl's polite service smile shifts to a confident smirk, "Ah, I see. I was wondering when you would show up. If you'll be so kind as to follow me, we can get started."
Turning to the back, the girl makes her way through a door behind the counter, gesturing for Izuku to come around and do the same. As he follows behind her, Izuku tries very hard not to stare at the girl and how her apron hugs her figure, so he decides to direct his gaze towards the floor.
Doing so leads him to an interesting discovery. The girl has a tail. It's fleshy, the same color as her skin, and nearly as long as he is tall. Suddenly, the tail whips up, dull point to his chin, forcing his head up. When his gaze levels out, he sees the girls smirking at him, humor glimmering in her eyes.
"Eyes up here buddy." Leaning through an open door-frame that leads to a stairwell, she calls out, "Mom! Dad! I'm going on break, the kid I'm supposed to train is here!"
After a few seconds, a male voice echoes down the stairs, "I'll be down to cover for you in a minute kiddo! Have fun!"
Beckoning him to follow again, the girls leads Izuku into a back room that's laid out with a basic table and a couple of seats. Taking a seat while gesturing to the other, the girls studies Izuku for a moment as he sits, her gaze feeling heavy on him.
Nodding, she extends a hand, "Alright, my name is Kaltish Hirano. Unusual name, I know. According to the system, from today on I'll be guiding you in how to use your abilities."
Taking her hand with his own and shaking it, Izuku gives a confused look and goes to ask a question, but he's interrupted by a small ping and a text box appearing.
Congratulations! This one reads, You've completed the quest: Seek Guidance, and have advanced to level one! The following feature has been unlocked: Character Creation. To start the process, please say Stats.
Looking to Kaltish for approval, and receiving a nod, he speaks, "Stats."
A menu opens with the following text: Your character is incomplete, so Stats cannot be viewed at this time. Opening character creation menu.
As the creation menu open, Izuku's eyes widen at the diagrams, charts, and lists floating around him, "Uhhh… W-what do I do here? This looks pretty complicated…"
With a chuckle, Kaltish moves her seat so she can look over Izuku's shoulder, "It looks more difficult than it actually is, and some of it's already been decided for you." She gestures to the boxes that say race and background, "So really, we only have a few choices to make before you're ready for the training I'm going to have you do."
Izuku's eyes widen, "T-training?"
Kaltish nods, "Of course! If you want to do anything with this ability, you can't stop here. It'd be a waste if you just came over here for me to explain it and then did nothing."
Izuku's mouth presses into a line, determination flaring in his eyes, "I don't want to stop at this. I want to use this power and become a Hero!"
Smirking, Kaltish nods again, "Excellent, and you'll have me there to guide you. Now then, let's dive into the explanations. Based on what's already on your sheet, you've got some pretty good potential going for pretty much anything. As a Human, you're getting a plus one to all of your stats, and with your background of Hermit, you've clearly got a good head on your shoulders, if a bit anti-social, so we shouldn't have too many problems."
Looking him dead in the eyes, face becoming serious, Kaltish addresses Izuku, "Now, I'm going to stress this so you understand the importance of this decision. Whatever you decide on this sheet, a good portion of it is unchangeable, and you'll be stuck with it until the day you die. So whatever you pick, make damn sure it's what you want."
Nodding, Izuku turns to the window, "Alright, I'm ready, let's do this."
A smile creeps onto Kaltish's face, "You've got some determination locked up in there, good, you'll need it. Now, you said you wanted to be a Hero. What kind of Hero do you want to be?"
Izuku smiles, the answer coming to him easily, "I want to be a Hero that saves people with a smile! Someone that inspires hope and saves everyone they can, regardless of reward!"
Kaltish's eyebrows raise, her smile widening at her new pupil's answer, "Well, with a goal like that, I'd recommend you look into Paladin. Class is the best place to start from here anyway."
Moving into the class selection menu, Izuku highlights Paladin and reads up on it.
A mighty oath-bound warrior, working to uphold their sacred tenants. With spellcasting, healing, and abilities that can better those around them, Paladins serve as powerful leaders and incredibly allies to their friends, or terrible forces of nature to their foes.
A prompts window appears, Do you want to select Paladin as your class? Yes or no.
With a growing smile, Izuku has to keep himself from shouting his answer, "Yes."

A/N: So, I was given a very interesting idea today, and seeing as, to my knowledge, no one has done something quite like it, I've decided to take on the challenge. I hope you all enjoy. Also, fantasy name generators saved my butt, because I couldn't come up with a name for Kaltish by myself, so thank you to them for that.
