Chapter 3: Ottawa

Chris and Chef got back on the train, and this time they were going to Ottawa. Chris was still hoping that all this was a dream, and he's wake up his young self again. When the train arrived at the Ottawa station, they got off.

"What do you say we grab a bite to eat?" Chef suggested.

"All right." Chris replied.

They left the station, and walked down the street. While Chef kept his eyes straight ahead, Chris kept looking around. They passed a gym that was called Jo's Gym.

"Jo?" he whispered.

He looked through the glass and saw lots of people working out. Then he saw a woman with short hair, and blue eyes. She wore blue joggers and green sneakers. "All right, people. Make sure you're staying hydrated." she instructed.

Sure enough, that woman was Jo. Chris' eye then went to another spot in the gym. A woman was instructing a man who was doing bench presses.

"Remember, don't strain yourself. Go slow, and remember to breathe." she advised.

"Got it, Eva." the man replied.

"Eva's a personal trainer?" Chris thought.

Not only was he seeing more former contestants, but Eva was actually being nice to another person.

"Hey, Chris. Here's a good place up ahead." Chef informed.

Chris snapped out of his trance, and followed him. They went into a diner, and found a table. Then they were approached by a waiter, and when they saw him it was another familiar face. It was Cody.

He was wearing a white polo shirt, black pants and shoes, and his hair looked slightly shaggier.

"Cody is that you?" asked Chris.

"Hey, Chris, Chef long time no see. Can I start you off with something to drink?" Cody asked them.

After ordering some drinks, Chris walked as Cody walked off. They waited, and chatted a little bit and then saw something on the TV.

"In other news, the search for Ezekiel is still going. He escaped from his facility a few weeks ago and is in possible hiding." the news anchor announced.

"Ezekiel?" Chris whispered.

The TV then showed a picture of an older version of Ezekiel and he was wearing white clothes typically worn in a mental facility.

"Looks like that kid never got better." Chef remarked.

"Yeah." Chris replied.

After Cody came back with their drinks, he took their order. After they ordered, they heard the bell ring again and saw a family walk inside. Chris looked over at the door, and saw more familiar faces.

The parents were none other than Shawn and Jasmine. Jasmine was still much taller than Shawn, and she wore a black blouse, khaki pants, and her boots, and her hair was down and she wasn't wearing her hat.

Shawn looked a little more rugged with a stubble beard, and he wasn't wearing his hat either. He wore a light green shirt, black pants, and brown boots. Their daughter looked like she was about 8-year-old, but it was clear she had inherited Jasmine's height.

She was a mixed race, wore her black hair in a small ponytail and wore a purple t-shirt, jeans, and purple shoes.

"Thanks for taking me out to lunch, Mom and Dad." the girl told them.

"Your welcome, Shelia." Jasmine said.

"You got such good grades on your report card, you deserve a reward." Shawn added.

"Shawn and Jasmine are married with a kid?" Chris thought.

As the little family was seated by another waitress, Cody came back with their food.

"Thanks, Cody." Chef replied.

"Yeah, thanks."

The two ate their food, and when they were finished they paid, tipped Cody, and left.

They were on their way back to the train station.

"So...where are we going next?" Chris wanted to know.

"We're going catch the train to Alberta." Chef replied.

"Oh, great another stop in this nightmare." Chris whispered.

Back at the train station, as Chef bought the tickets Chris tried to wrap his head around what was happening. He'd seen former members all grown up some with kids and some with careers.

"All right, got the tickets, let's go."

Chris followed Chef and they waited for the train to arrive. As they sat, Chris saw another familiar face. It was Leonard from Pahkitew Island. He was dressed like a wizard like he was as a teenager, only this costume was more professional and looked more like an actual wizard.

"Leonard, the LARPer?"

He saw the two, and went over to them.

"Greetings Chris and Chef, I'm off to a LARPer convention."

"You're attending it?" Chef asked.

"Nope, I'm going there to work."

And with that, Leonard walked off. After a while the train to Alberta arrived. The two men boarded it, and they rode off.
