After many tests, the Cybertronians finishes the development of the first Transwarp Drive, a new type of hyperdrive technology that propels a spacecraft to traverse vast intergalactic distances almost instantaneously. At the city-state of Unitrex, the first starship to be outfitted with a Transwarp Drive is a small freighter dubbed the Unitrex-1 (better known in the modern day as the Lost Light, the personal flagship of Rodimus Prime). The launch of the Unitrex-1 proves to be a success as the freighter makes a quick trip from Cybertron to the nearest colony world of Arduria and back in less than a day. Impressed, Nominus Prime commissions the creation of a fleet of starships, both civilian and military vessels, equipped with Transwarp Drives.
The success of the Transwarp Drive marks the start of the Neo-Colonial Period as Cybertron once again turns its attentions to reclaiming and expanding its extraplanetary territories. Notable colonies founded under the Republic of Cybertron's flag include Opulus, Messatine, Croteus XII, Athenia, Kimia, Planet V, Zone, Rigel, Praun, Daffodil II, Omicron, Mayalx, Hill'Frayka, Olterhex, Distanna-2, Jyura, Verde VII, Aetorr, Palifex, Skomiloch, Castor Forges, Knerax Minor, Hexagon, Paryadisou, Onyx, B'kn, and Pyritron.

The Drone Wars: Cybertron Security Operations detects a collection of artificial objects entering the outer reaches of the Republic of Cybertron. Further investigation reveals that they are warships belonging to the Vestial Imperium, an empire of expansionist mechanoids that occupied a significant region of the Milky Way and now sought to annex Cybertron into their empire after hearing tales of the AllSpark's power from space travelers. The Cybertronian Armed Forces make a valiant effort to defend the colonies, but are beaten back by the Vestial Imperium's superior war machines. In order to gain the upper hand in the war, the Senate constitutes the Vehicon Navy-a new legion of heavily-armored Transformer drones constructed by the Ironforge Guild on the colony world of Skomiloch-to act as the vanguard force of the Cybertronian Space Forces as the Imperium continues their push into the Republic's core sectors. The Vehicon Navy prove themselves to be effective defenders of the Republic during the Drone Wars, eventually driving the Vestial Imperium out of Cybertronian territory.
In honor of his valor in the Drone Wars and past conflicts, Sentinel Zeta is promoted as the new Commander-in-Chief of the Cybertronian Elite Guard after Delta Magnus voluntarily steps down from his position and retires from military service.

Ginrai Pax comes into prominence as a captain of the Primal Vanguard commanding a fleet of three missile frigates, destroying several pirate ships and key bases across the colonies. This results in a significant drop of piracy in Cybertronian space. Ginrai is then promoted to Colonel and given command over the Primal Vanguard division responsible for policing the colony worlds.
Alpha Trion founds the top-secret Epistemean Collective: a group of genius thinkers working on the cutting edge of Cybertronian science and biomedical engineering. Notable members of the Epistemean Collective over the ano-cycles would include Strafejetter, Perceptor, Brainstorm, Spacewarp, Mainframe, Oil Slick, Proxima, Quark, and Rossum. The New Knights of Cybertron (named in the honor of the original Knights) is established to act as the Collective's enforcement division, dedicating in rediscovering ancient relics from the past ages aboard their ship Alchemor and bringing them to the Iacon Hall of Records to be closely studied and guarded.

With the support of the Cybertronian Armed Forces and Justice Department, a veteran of the Second Cybertronian Civil War named Threnody commissions a black ops paramilitary organization known as the Wreckers to combat underground threats that act outside of the jurisdiction and capabilities of normal law enforcement. With their ranks consisting of former members of the military and enforcer castes, and even ex-convicts, they think against their enemies by bursting in on them guns-blazing. The Wreckers come into prominence as they take down some of the most powerful criminal organizations on Cybertron such as the Vandals, the Breakers, and the Ravagers, but they're regarded infamously by their peers for their disregard of planning and their low survival rate during missions.

Shockwave, now the Senator of his home city-state of Protihex, makes a name for himself by replicating Triple-Changer technology. After copying the protoform schematics of a young member of the Cybertronian Defense Forces named Blitzwing, who was naturally constructed as a Triple Changer, he was able to perfectly develop T-Cogs that allow Cybertronians to transform into more than one alt-mode without any complications. Many of Shockwave's Triple-Changers would be recruited into the Triorian Guard, the Senate's personal guardsmen. His research brings him to the attention of Alpha Trion, who brings Shockwave into the Epistemean Collective.

Nova Prime's conjunx endura and a crewmember of the long-lost Proudstar Ember escapes from the Dead Universe through a trans-dimensional rift. Without her direct connection to the D-Void, Ember begins to decay into nothingness but she's restored back to life by mysterious beings only known as the "Celestials", a matriarchal hive-culture of living statues who wield inconceivable cosmic powers due to their manipulation of the mysterious life-giving energies of the Zodiac, allowing them to worshipped as gods by many alien cultures assimilated under their rule. They revived Ember in exchange that she'll serve them as their chief herald in the assimilation of the Cybertronian race, who they view as "pretenders" and "false gods" that need to be put in their "rightful place" of being behind them. After being restored by her saviors, Ember studies the Cybertronian historical records of the period since the Proudstar's disappearance, learning of the Rust Plague that ended the Golden Age and the devastating Second Cybertronian Civil War that followed. Coming to the conclusion that with the aid of the Celestials and their great power, Ember hopes to one day free her lover Nova Prime from the Dead Universe and bring Cybertron back to its former glory, not before destroying all of the heathens who've brought their planet into its stagnation. She returns to Cybertron, under the guise of being a newborn Cybertronian named after the original Ember, and forms the Cult of the Black Epoch to serve the Celestials. The Black Epoch works in the shadows of Cybertronian society, orchestrating crises and planted roots across the Republic of Cybertron in the name of their gods; establishing a clandestine network of operatives engaged in political engineering and scientific research in order to bring about the "New Expansion."
Anyone catch that reference on the Lost Light? XD
The Vestial Imperium was an alien empire briefly mentioned in Transformers Timelines TCC Special #1 "Cheap Shots". It would be referenced again in both the Transformers Animated: AllSpark Almanac II and the Complete AllSpark Almanac.
The Vehicon Navy are based on the Vehicons from Beast Wars' critically-acclaimed sequel series Beast Machines. Instead of being created by Beast Era Megatron to enslave all on Cybertron, the Vehicon drones began as the vanguard force of the planet's space forces against hostile alien threats.
The Beyondverse Alchemor takes elements from both the Alchemor of RID 2015 and Lockdown's Knight Ship from Age of Extinction.
No relation with the alien race from Marvel Comics, the Celestials are heavily inspired by the race of multi-dimensional beings with the same race who were mentioned in the IDW Beast Wars Sourcebook and the Dolems, an original alien race in Kira444's fanfiction series Transformers Titan which takes elements from both the Vok of Beast Wars and the Keepers from the defunct Dreamwave Production's disappointing Transformers novel trilogy.
