Stefan walked into the kitchen, following the laughter. Damon and Hazel were eating breakfast with someone he didn't know. When they realized he was there, all three of them looked to him and burst into laughter. Scowling, he asked "What's going on? Who's he?"
Nik stood and walked over, holding out a hand he greeted, "Niklaus Mikaelson, pleasure."
Stefan glared, "Why is he here?" Looking to Nik, he says, "Are you going back on your word? I won't let you hurt Elena."
Nik rolled his eyes and smirked when he heard Hazel's groan. The small witch walked next to him and glared at Stefan.
"You're really pissing me off, Nik gave his word, and I trust it. You on the other hand, have not been helpful and have only caused issues. I'm tempted to bind you from even coming near us."
Stefan glared, "You're just like Damon, never care about anyone but yourself and what others can do for you."
No one caught her before she broke Stefan's nose and continued to hit him once he was on the ground. It took both Damon and Nik to pull her off of him.
"Don't you ever talk about my dad like that! He's ten times the man you are!" Hazel screams at Stefan as Nik carries her out of the room.
~~~
Damon looked down at his brother, he wasn't going to help him off the floor. "What is your issue with Hazel? She has done nothing to you, and she even helped Elena. So, explain to me, why do you seem to hate my daughter?"
Stefan sat up, wiping his bloody face, "She's not your daughter."
Damon glared, "That girl is my daughter. I have raised her since she was one and I was there when she was born. Her mother was a sister to me and trusted me enough to raise Hazel. That's more than you've ever trusted or believed in me."
Stefan glared, "So because she's friendly with Klaus, you're now friendly with him? We don't know if we can trust him, we only have her word to go on!"
Damon scowled at his brother, "I trust Hazel's word over anyone's. Stay away from her, next time I won't stop her. She knows everything about me and you, it's not wise to piss her off. Especially when you've kept secrets from your precious Elena."
~~~
Nik sat Hazel down in the living room. Her magic had been sparking off her in anger. She was very beautiful when she was angry. Shaking himself, he vaulted that thought. He should not be thinking that, she was definitely off limits. He could still hear the brothers arguing.
Hazel was pissed. No one was allowed to disrespect her dad. Especially not Stefan the closet Ripper. She looked down at her hands, her knuckles were bloody and torn. She looked up in surprise when Nik took her hands in his.
"That was some nice punching. Have much experience with fighting?" Nik asked curiously.
"Day made sure I was prepared for anything. I learned how to push my magic into it and use it to my advantage." She smirked.
Nik snorted, "I can tell. It took both Damon and I to pull you off Stuffy."
Hazel laughed, "See, the name catches on."
"It does."
They both turn when the front door opens. Elena walks in and freezes when she sees them. "Uhm, is Stefan here?" She looks to Nik curiously.
"Kitchen" Nik answers, knowing Hazel won't. They watch her walk through, "I'm going to say that was the doppelganger."
Hazel snorted, "What gave it away? The face?"
Nik shoved her to the couch and laughed when she bounced off it and onto the floor. "Sorry" she glared at him, smirking, he adds, "Who knew witches bounced."
~~~
Nik paced while he waited for his brother to show. Greta had gone back to her father and brother. Hazel had told him she notified Elijah he was there, and he was on his way. He had been telling the truth when he told Hazel they could be on Jerry Springer, his family had some major issues.
Stefan and Elena were still upstairs, she was tending to his wounded pride. He was surprised how pleasant the doppelganger was when she was introduced, she was a lot better than Stuffy. Nik was debating on letting his old friend have his memories back from Chicago but decided Rebekah would be better off without Stefan.
Hearing a knock on the door, Nik tensed while Damon went to answer it Hazel walked over to him, "It will be alright. I promise" Nik could only nod because his big brother had entered behind Damon.
"Niklaus" Elijah greeted, walking over to them.
"Brother" Nik replied.
Hazel sighed, loudly, "Nope. The both of you need to sit down and actually talk. One-word sentences will not settle anything." She pushed Nik to sit as Elijah followed with an amused look. When the silence continued, Hazel decided to start for them. "Nik's curse is broken."
Elijah looked surprised, "You were actually able to do it."
Nik snorted at Hazel's offended look. Glaring at Elijah, she replied icily, "You doubted me?"
Seeming to realize his mistake, Elijah looked back to his brother, "So, Niklaus. Where are our siblings? Hazel said you didn't drop them in the ocean."
"I didn't. I promise you. I will wake them once it is safe to do so."
~~~
Hazel only had to stop five arguments, she considered that a success. Both brothers were extremely hardheaded and hot tempered. She honestly wondered if it was just a sibling thing or a brother thing.
Nik finally brought up the danger he had mentioned, "Mikael is still alive. We need to get rid of him before we wake the others."
Hazel perked up at that, "Oh, can I help?" Seeing their confused looks, she explains "The moonstone showed me visions of your family before you were vampires."
"You mentioned that what all did the moonstone show you?" Elijah asked.
Hazel looked unsure if she should say everything. Looking between Elijah and Nik, she sighed and told them everything. Niks face had gone blank, she could tell he didn't like that she had seen him like that. Elijah must have realized the same thing because he watched as his brother shut down and walked outside.
Hazel watched Nik, making her decision, she went after him. Luckily, he hadn't gone far. "Nik, I'm sorry."
Nik looked up. He knew he couldn't be mad at her. She hadn't done it on purpose. "Not your fault. It's just a time I don't care to remember."
"Understandable" She nodded. Walking to stand before him, she looked up to his face and said, "I would still like to help. He was a horrible man to you before he even realized you weren't his son. People like him don't deserve to live."
Nik watched Hazel, she was a very interesting person. He remembered what she had told him of the war, no, she wouldn't like a monster like Mikael. Finally, he asked "Do you think you could find him? I'm not sure where he is, I only know that he's alive."
She smiled, "I can find him." Nik would deny the shiver of fear that shot through him at her smile.
~~~
Hazel stared Nik down. She wasn't going to let this go. "I can get us there and back quicker than you driving all the way, I want to watch."
Glaring didn't seem to faze this woman! Nik could always get people to back down, except Hazel it seemed. "It could get dangerous!" She only stared at him. "Why would you possibly want to watch, I'm simply feeding the wolves my blood and snapping their necks. When they wake they drink the doppelgangers blood, it's not too exciting."
"But it's something that's unheard of! Please let me go with you, pretty please" Hazel gave him her best puppy eyes and batted her eyelashes.
He knew he wouldn't be able to deny her, he owed her so much. Sighing, he rubbed the bridge of his nose, "If I say yes, you will promise to stay by my side and listen."
Hazel squealed, jumping up and hugging Nik. She didn't notice him freeze, "Thank you! I promise, I'll listen. I just want to see the process." Releasing him, she smiled brightly.
"We will leave in the morning. You're sure you can take me the way you travel?" He couldn't lie, he was curious about how she appeared and disappeared, all while traveling across states.
"I can, it will be easy" she smiled.
They said goodbye and he watched as she skipped off. He didn't realize his brother had been watching the whole thing.
Elijah walked out when he shut the door, "You're really going to take her with you?"
Nik sighed, "I have a feeling she will be there regardless of if it's with me."
Elijah only nodded before going back to his book. It seemed to him, Niklaus may have feelings for Hazel, he just didn't want to admit it.
~~~
Damon didn't like that Hazel was going with Nik. He was worried one of the newbie Hybrids would try to take a bite off her. Unfortunately, she was hardheaded and was going regardless. When a knock sounded on the door, he rushed to answer, hopefully he could have a quick word with Nik.
"Hey Nik, come in. Hazel should be down in a minute." Damon led Nik in, pausing in the entryway, he became serious. "I'm trusting you to keep her safe. I know she doesn't listen, but she will still be human to them."
Nik nodded, "I tried to tell her it would be dangerous but she's stubborn. She flat out said she would be there regardless."
Damon pats the man's arm, "She's got a fiery attitude like her mom. At least Hazel's not a redhead."
Nik gave a laugh at that, "She's been an amazing help to me, I promise she'll be safe. The Hybrids should be sired to me, so I'll be able to keep them from going near her."
Hazel came bouncing down the stairs, cutting off their conversation. Damon had to hide his glare when he noticed the Hybrids eyes watching her. He pulled her into a hug, "Be sure to stay by Nik. They'll be a bit peckish when they wake."
"I will I promise. I'll listen and be on my best behavior." Hazel batted her eyelashes at him.
"Yeah, you forget I raised you and know what you got up to at school. That won't work on me missy."
Hazel smiled before looking to Nik, "What's the plan?"
"When we arrive, I'll turn them in groups. I know the alphas should go first, that way they can help control the packs." Nik explained.
"Alright, you ready?" He nodded and Hazel pulled out the portkey, smiling, she held it out for him to take. "Be sure not to let go until I say."
"Am I going to regret this?" He asked suspiciously, noticing Damon's smirk.
Smiling sweetly, "Of course, Portus" Damons laughter could be heard as they disappeared.
~~~
Hazel glared at Nik as they landed. She had landed ungracefully as always but he was standing like nothing happened! "So not fair. How did you manage to say on your feet?"
Nik smirked, helping her off the ground. "I think your balance is just shit" he laughed when she growled at him.
"Ugh, I was hoping to at least get one over on you."
"I'm sorry luv, I'll be sure to have less decourum next time." He smiled, leading her out of the warehouse office. "Shall we?"
Hazel followed Nik out and watched as he spoke to the wolves gathered. She smiled at Marcus when he approached. She didn't notices Nik's expression but Marcus did.
"Who would like to go first?" Nik asked and Marcus stepped forward.
"I will" he looked to Hazel, "I trust you."
~~~
So far, the four alphas had been successfully turned. Each one of them looked like the weight of the world had been lifted from their shoulders. Nik looked like he was on cloud nine, Hazel couldn't blame him. While he was in the process of turning more, she was handing out vials of doppelganger blood when they woke.
Marcus smiled at her when she handed one of his pack the vial, "Thank you."
"Hopefully this is better, no more forced changes." She gave him a smile, "He's going to look for more packs soon."
Nik appeared beside her, "Those ones should be waking soon, are you okay to give them vials?" Hazel nodded and walked over to where he had pointed. Once she was out of earshot, he turned to Marcus. "Hazel is off limits."
Marcus had to hide his smirk, "I understand. I wasn't attempting to move in on your girl."
Nik gave him a nod, he could tell the man was telling the truth. "I'm buying a home in Mystic Falls, do you or any of the others have experience in construction?"
Marcus was shocked, "I do my pack and Nathans pack do as well."
"Good. I'm willing to pay well, I may also need some help to watch over Hazel too." Nik knew she would gut him, but he owed her and would make sure she stayed safe.
Marcus nodded, "Of course. We would all be grateful."
Nik and Hazel finished up and made sure they all knew where to find him. Knowing they would be having company, Hazel agreed to help him find rentals for the packs. Smirking at Hazel, Nik grabbed the portkey, and they disappeared from the warehouse.
