Godzilla, now fully fixated on the evas, shifted its attention toward Unit-01, piloted by Shinji Ikari. With terrifying speed for a creature its size, Gojira moved in, its colossal feet shaking the ground as it charged. Shinji barely had time to react as Godzilla raised one massive fist and slammed it down on Unit-01.
The impact was like an earthquake, sending cracks rippling through the ground. Unit-01 staggered backward, the armor groaning under the sheer force of the blow. Before Shinji could steady the eva, Godzilla unleashed a flurry of punches, each one landing with brutal precision. Unit-01 struggled to block the onslaught, but it was like trying to hold back a tidal wave.
"Shinji, move!" Misato's voice came through the comms, desperate and commanding.
But Godzilla's relentless assault left little room for escape. Every punch felt like an entire building crashing down on Unit-01. The eva's arm buckled under the weight of one blow, and Shinji's vision blurred from the concussive force rattling the cockpit.
As Shinji tried to regain control, Unit-02, piloted by Asuka, and Unit-00, piloted by Rei, opened fire on Godzilla, their positron rifles blazing with energy. Beams of concentrated light struck Godzilla's thick hide, but the creature didn't even flinch. It was as if the evas' attacks were nothing more than a nuisance, like raindrops falling against a mountain.
"Asuka! Rei! It's not working!" Shinji shouted through the comms, his voice frantic as he struggled to keep Unit-01 from collapsing under Godzilla's assault.
"Of course it's not working, idiot!" Asuka yelled back, frustration laced in her voice as she continued firing. "That thing isn't just some angel—it's a freaking god!"
Rei, calm but determined, maintained her focus on her own assault, but her voice was steady over the comms. "We need to retreat. Its power exceeds anything we've encountered."
But Godzilla wasn't about to let them retreat. The creature let out a deep, guttural growl as it grabbed Unit-01 by the shoulder, pulling the eva close. With a single, brutal motion, Gojira slammed Unit-01 into the ground, sending a shockwave through the city.
Shinji screamed as the cockpit rattled violently, alarms blaring as Unit-01's systems struggled to keep up with the damage. Sparks flew from the control panels, and the eva's limbs twitched under the strain.
In the command center, Misato gripped the edge of her console, her eyes wide with horror. "We have to do something! It's going to kill Shinji!"
But Gendo remained eerily calm, his gaze fixed on the screens. "Let it play out," he muttered, his voice cold. "This is necessary."
Fuyutsuki glanced at Gendo, his expression tight. "You're willing to sacrifice the pilot and the evas just to test the limits of this creature?"
Gendo's eyes remained hidden behind his dark glasses, his voice devoid of emotion. "The fate of humanity depends on understanding the true nature of Godzilla. Everything else is collateral."
As Godzilla loomed over the fallen Unit-01, its glowing blue eyes pulsed with destructive intent. There was no mercy in the creature—only an unstoppable force, driven by an ancient will to obliterate anything in its path.
In that moment, Shinji realized just how small and powerless he truly was in the face of such a being.
