Author's note: Angeleyes, it is the genre. I get fussed at when I don't add enough in. So, I add them but it isn't the main focus. I can add an *SW* before one of those scenes and the same after so you can scroll through it. Trying to appease every reader is tricky but I try.
(Marie's house)
Charlie wasn't sure what to expect with the mysterious safe house. She was so tired and worn out that she almost didn't care. She had fallen asleep but the change from blacktop to dirt roads woke her up. Turn after turn made her lose track of where they were. It was also dark. She couldn't see far beyond the headlights but she did see fence posts and trees.
Dean made a final turn and pulled up in front of Marie and Rod's house. He turned the car off and turned to look at Kate and Charlie. "We made it."
Charlie may have felt more comfortable in an urban setting. The remoteness of the house did help ease her fears of someone finding her but she didn't know if she could trust the owners.
Marie opened the front door and beckoned them in.
"That is Marie," Kate said with a yawn.
Marie embraced Dean and Kate in a hug when they got closer. "You must be about to fall asleep. Your beds have fresh linen."
Dean thanked her and returned for another bag from the car.
Marie looked at Charlie. "You must be Charlie."
Charlie nodded.
"I'd offer a hug but I don't want to scare you off." Marie said, warmly.
Charlie gave her a small smile and said she was just sleepy.
"Kate, can you show her where her room is?" Marie asked.
Kate took Charlie's hand and pulled her. "The one Jo was staying in?"
"The one next to yours," Marie said.
They ran into Taylor on the way up. "Oh, hi. Nana told me you were headed over here." He made eye contact with Charlie and held his hand out to shake hers. "I'm Taylor."
Kate jabbed him in the ribs. "He's a dork."
Charlie didn't know if Taylor was a cousin or friend. Although the drive was long, they hadn't discussed anything about their families.
Kate opened a door and turned the light on. "This is where you will sleep."
Charlie had been in foster homes before. Never had she had her own room while in the system. She gently set her backpack down and surveyed the room. She saw two baskets on top of a dresser and turned to look at Kate.
Kate pulled one off of the dresser. "Snacks and drinks." She replaced it and pulled the other off. "Things you may want but may not feel comfortable asking for."
Charlie got a closer look at that one. Kate was right. It had necessities and toiletries. It also had small packs of things like Advil. "What are they for?"
"You," Kate said. "They don't run an actual foster home anymore. When they did, they mostly took in teenagers so Marie would put these together."
Taylor decided to give Charlie the rest of the talk. He opened the closet. "There are extra blankets in here. Uh, I guess she moved this up here. There are extra clothes like pajamas if you want them. The bathroom is right across the hallway. My nana is an amazing cook so she will have breakfast ready in the morning but one of us can bring up a tray if you don't feel comfortable."
"This is a lot." Charlie said.
"My sister just went home a few days ago. I'll be going back home soon. My nana loves having people around to do things for. This is her specialty." Taylor said.
Kate turned Taylor and pushed him to the door. "Thank you for the tour. Now, go away."
Taylor stopped and leaned back, causing Kate to nearly fall as well. He cracked up and stepped forward. "Weak."
Kate kicked his leg."You're so annoying." Once he was gone she turned back to Charlie. "He is another brother."
Charlie was trying to piece it all together.
"Dean has a biological brother named Sam. He's the one that likes serial killers. Then John, the dad, adopted me and Taylor. Taylor's half-sister is Jo, the one that left a few days ago. Marie and Rod are his bio grandparents but they kind of spoil all of us." Kate said.
Charlie sat back down on the bed. "That sounds complicated."
"Nah, we all lost people so we all kind of fill in those gaps for each other," Kate said. "The clothes and everything are meant for situations like this. It took me a bit to get used to, how nice people were, but it is all genuine."
Charlie was quiet. She really was tired but she was also trying to process everything. After she got ready for bed she found a soft pajama set that looked like something she would have picked out in a store. She changed and folded her other clothes into a neat pile.
Marie went upstairs to say goodnight to everyone and check on Charlie. "Do you need anything?"
Charlie shook her head.
"Don't be afraid to ask. Taylor knows the place like the back of his hand and Kate will also be happy to help. Do you like waffles?" Marie asked.
Charlie cleared her throat. "I do."
"Then that is what we will have tomorrow. Sleep as long as you want. If you miss breakfast I'll just make a later batch. We do not have a set time here." Marie said.
Charlie thanked her and fell back onto the pillow as the door closed. The ceiling fan's gentle hum and the tight pull of the sheets lulled her into a deep sleep before she could get lost in worries.
(Sioux Falls)
Sam and Caleb had gone back home after making sure that Charlie wasn't a danger to Dean and Kate. The days before returning to Stanford were dwindling quickly.
"Double date," Caleb said suddenly.
"Uh, sure," Sam said. "That feels a bit weird, doesn't it."
"We both got lucky." Caleb said.
"What are you going to do with the kids?" Sam asked.
"Bobby and Karen can watch them."
"Does life seem to be moving faster now?" Sam asked.
"Yes. I didn't see myself with a wife and three kids. When I was down in that basement with Dean, I didn't think I'd see myself doing anything. I also thought April had a thing for Dean. Time flies when you're having fun." Caleb said with a chuckle.
"I think Dean has too much going on. You are perfect for her and the boys."
"You and Jess make a good couple too," Caleb said. "Kind of weird seeing you in college and having a steady girlfriend. I got used to you being a gangly little twerp."
"Yeah, I'm taller than you now so watch yourself," Sam said. He parted ways with Caleb and entered Bobby's house in search of Jess. Sometimes, he suddenly remembered what her fate was supposed to be. In another life, she was supposed to be taken by Azazel. He was dead though. Kate was able to warn him and their apartment was demon proof. He didn't know how he would cope if anything happened to her. He wouldn't. He would be angry and spiteful like John had been when Mary died. Jess was in the shower when he got there so he decided to talk to Bobby.
Bobby, as usual, was glued to a book. He put it down for Sam. "What can I do for you?"
Sam scratched his head. "Am I too young to get married?"
Bobby shut the book and pushed it to the side. "Well, son, you are only 19. I'd say that is awful young."
"Well not married but maybe engaged. I know I am young. I know Jess would stick around without a ring but I know how lucky I am. She is way out of my league and then she accepted my family. She didn't run away when that demon attacked her at the apartment. She has been by my side, without question. How could I let that go?" Sam said.
"She is something isn't she." Bobby said.
"I also don't want to trap her. Things could get crazy and dangerous again. It would be selfish for me to make her feel like she had to stay with me. She needs the choice. I mean, it is just a ring but she is loyal. She would force herself to stay. I can't ask that of her." Sam said.
"It sounds like you two need to talk." Bobby said, gently.
"If I talk to her, maybe she will think I'm moving too fast." Sam said.
Bobby chuckled. "Moving in with her and bringing her into this mess was fast. She seems pretty headstrong. I bet, if she felt like you were moving too fast, she'd tell you to your face."
Sam nodded. Jess would certainly knock him down a peg or two if need be. It was the talk with Caleb that set him off. He saw Caleb blissfully happy with a wife, two, soon to be three kids, a dog and a house. He wanted that for Jess and himself. Caleb was a little older but not by much. The situations were wildly different.
Jess walked down the stairs while towel drying her hair. "Sam, you're back."
Sam got up and kissed her cheek. "Yep. Turns out Dean didn't need us after all." He looked back at Bobby for a moment and nodded once.
Bobby nodded back.
Once they were downstairs, Sam sat on the edge of their bed. "I have a question."
Jess slid under the blankets. "What is it?"
"Do you want to get married? I mean, not right now. One day. To me. No, I said that wrong. We are young right now and there is a lot going on. I wouldn't want you to feel obligated when things are this crazy. My last name is basically a curse so why would I even want to pass that on. I-" He was cut off by her kissing him.
She wrapped her arms around him and moved around so that she was facing him. "Sammy, shh."
Sam's face fell. He ruined it. He knew he did.
"Of course, I want to marry you. Your name isn't a curse but even if it was, I'd love to be cursed with you. I know we are young right now. So, maybe we don't get married right now but that doesn't mean I won't stay. In fact, if you try to get rid of me, I'll just come right back." Jess said.
Sam leaned back on the bed, pulling her down with him. "So, just to be clear, for when I eventually ask you to marry me the answer will be..."
"Yes," Jess said and kissed the side of his neck.
Sam shivered. "I made a girl a daisy ring one time. I could make you one of those."
Jess poked his ribs. "Clearly, that didn't last."
"Hey, I was ready for commitment but dad kept moving us. Okay, I was seven at the time so I didn't know what commitment was." Sam said.
"Seven-year-old Sam Winchester was probably the sweetest. I'm sure whoever she was would have been very lucky had John not moved you." Jess said, lightly.
"Forget about her. I found you and no other girl compares to you."
(The next morning at Marie's house)
Waking up at Marie's house was an entire experience. Karen had made Bobby's house more of a home but Marie was more confident in her homemaker abilities. Marie was used to having kids and teenagers bumbling around.
Taylor and Dean were immediately drawn to the kitchen by the smell of food. Sam had finished out his growth spurts so he didn't eat as much. Taylor and Dean both had hollow legs. Karen had mentioned more than once that they'd need to take out a loan to feed both of them. Food was more expensive than it was before Karen died. Speaking of expensive, vegetables were expensive. That is why Dean didn't eat very many. He was disgusted that Jess had influenced his already healthy eating dork of a brother to be a bigger health food freak. Smoothies. What the hell was a smoothie good for? He assumed it was a California thing. He saw a plate of thickly sliced bacon and rubbed his hands together. "Now that's what I'm talking about."
Kate waited around upstairs for a while. She decided to gently knock on Charlie's door. She was told to enter so she did. "Do you want me to bring some food up here?"
Charlie felt refreshed. Honestly, when she woke up, she wondered if everything had been a weird dream. She had those from time to time. "I can go downstairs with you."
Kate smiled and walked side by side with Charlie down the stairs.
Marie welcomed them and gave them plates.
Rod introduced himself. "Good morning, I didn't get to meet you last night. I'm Rod."
Charlie introduced herself and got food for herself. She was a long way away from where she started. She assumed they'd get what they needed and wouldn't need her anymore. She didn't really have a plan as to what she was going to do when the welcome party was no longer welcoming. The food was good, really good. She forgot she was an outsider for a moment and snapped back to reality. She was a loaner, had been, always would be.
Dean needed to know more about Charlie. His fears that she was dangerous went out the window with her fainting in the car. He talked to Rod and Marie as well as John and Bobby. The general consensus was that keeping her around would be a good idea. She was helpful but also young and in a bind because of what they asked her to do. Bobby's house was chaotic with Taylor and Kate's abilities and the tension that came with fighting monsters. Marie and Rod's house was more peaceful and while they knew about the monsters, it wouldn't be shoved in Charlie's face. She was wickedly smart so telling her nothing existed would only work for a few minutes. That didn't mean that she needed to eat, live, and breathe the supernatural. In the end, the choice would be Charlie's to make.
Kate was asked to be a proxy as she had bonded with Charlie. She got the rundown from the adults and got Charlie outside so she could talk to her.
Charlie followed Kate out to a hammock. The sun was warm but the trees overhead provided some shade. She thought about a book she had read and smiled inwardly.
Kate flopped back into the hammock with her legs hanging over the edge. She scooted forward enough for Charlie to sit beside her and leaned back once she was comfortable. "So, how do you like it here?"
"They are very nice," Charlie said.
"They are genuine too. Before Taylor got adopted, he stayed with us for a little while. The guy he thought was his dad was a jerk. Marie made boxes and boxes of food for us as a thank you for watching over Taylor. She has done that a few times. She bakes freezer meals for people who have new babies or get sick. One of the boys that they had in foster care as a teenager, grew up and Rod helped him build a house on their land. So, now he helps run part of the farm. They don't have to pay rent or anything." Kate said.
Charlie leaned her head back over the edge of the hammock and looked up at the trees. "Not many people are like that."
"No, most aren't. Do you want to stay?" Kate asked.
Charlie picked her head up. "The night?"
"No, you can stay as long as you want. You could stay for a week or a month or a year." Kate said.
Charlie didn't know how to respond. "I don't really know them."
"All the adults talked. I know, how annoying is that? The way they look at it is, you are young and on your own. You helped us by hacking into stuff and then got into some deep weeds. Even if you hadn't helped us, Marie and Rod would still be more than happy for you to stay. They had a kid named Krissy for a few months while her dad worked some stuff out. She is four but that goes for anyone of any age." Kate continued. "I guess it is a lot to spring on a person but the offer is there. Even if you just want time to rest up."
Charlie said she would think about it. Her knee-jerk reaction was to say of course she wanted to stay. She did have concerns. The house was in the middle of nowhere. What if things turned bad? She was a computer whiz. Did they even have internet?
Kate gave Charlie a few minutes and then rocked the hammock forward. "Do you think you could walk us through those files?"
"Oh, yeah, totally," Charlie said. She went inside and pulled her computer out of her bag. "I guess I can just show you the stuff I downloaded."
"That works," Kate said.
Charlie was nervous. What if she uncovered something that wasn't what they were looking for? What if she had accidentally pulled their attention to something they didn't care about? Would they be as ready to help her? She turned the computer on and connected the thumb drive. "I found more than I expected. These are the files that caused their system's alarms to go off."
Dean scanned a few documents. "Did you read all of these?"
"Not all of them," Charlie said, anxiously.
"Enough, I bet," Dean said.
Charlie laughed nervously. "Those are some really bad people there. What are you guys? CIA?"
"Not CIA." Dean said, absently.
"So is this a family project?" Charlie asked.
Kate shrugged. "You could say that."
Charlie turned her laptop and tilted the screen down. "I'm totally cool with helping because this stuff is bad. This is supervillain stuff... but.. way worse. I just would kind of like to know who I am working with. You're all super nice but I have a ton of questions."
"We have questions about you too," Dean said.
"I'm an open book," Charlie said, knowing she was not an open book at all. She was a very closed book with secrets to hide.
"How old are you?" Dean asked.
"17. Are werewolves real?" Charlie asked.
"Yes. Where did you learn to do all of this?" Dean shot back.
"I taught my- wait. What? Werewolves are real? You're just going to gloss over that?" Charlie looked around at the other people. Dean had to be kidding. "You're kidding right?"
Dean sat back. "There is a whole lot of dark and scary crap in this world. Doctors stealing babies is just the tip of the iceberg. Now, if you're going to work with us you have to be cool about it."
"Cool about it?" Charlie asked in a high-pitched voice.
Marie shot Dean a scolding look and sat down beside Charlie. "What he is trying, poorly, to say is that some things are real. It is a lot for someone to take in. You may have seen some things while looking at these documents."
"How do you know though? Some people think god is real. Is god real?" Charlie said.
Dean started to comment.
Kate kicked Dean's shin from under the table.
"Of course, we don't know everything. We don't have answers for everything." Marie said.
"But werewolves are real? You think they are real? Humans turning into big ugly wolves on full moons but apparently, they eat hearts instead of the whole person..." Charlie rambled before suddenly going quiet.
Dean rubbed his shin. He was usually against people finding out the truth but Charlie like most people who did know the truth had stumbled upon it by accident.
Kate wrote something on a slip of paper and slid it to Dean. 'If we tell her and it goes south, I can just erase her memory.'
Dean shrugged but nodded his head. "Charlie, if you want to know the truth, we have the truth as we know it. I've got to warn you. It is a whole bunch of nasty."
Charlie's hands were clammy and she didn't know what to do with them. "Truth please."
Marie patted her arm. "Would you like some hot chocolate or fresh lemonade?"
"Um, lemonade, please," Charlie said.
Taylor left with Marie to help with lemonade and cups. "Is telling her a good idea?"
"I think she already knows, hun," Marie said.
Kate took over again because she could soften the blow. "Our family helps stop things from happening. We hunt down certain people or things that hurt innocent people."
Charlie was happy to have something to hold in her hands and sipped the lemonade that Taylor handed her. "You hunt them?"
Kate sighed. "Well, normally not me. Family as a general term. You may have noticed that I lost my mom and dad, Taylor lost his mom and dad, and, Sam and Dean lost their mom. Something killed my mom and Sam and Dean's mom. Sam and I were both babies when it happened. So, our dads, wanting revenge, tried to hunt it down."
"It?" Charlie asked.
"I'm getting there," Kate said. "It took a really long time to find out what it was. His name was Azazel and he's no longer alive. Azazel was a demon."
Charlie didn't know if Kate was telling the truth. Now demons were real? "A demon. If demons are real, why would one do that?"
"That specific one was doing experiments on babies. If the mom tried to stop him, she died. So, we think this doctor was trying to replicate those experiments." Kate said.
"So demons and werewolves are real?" Charlie asked.
"Honestly, vampires, ghouls, shapeshifters, and a whole list of other things are real. Not unicorns though. Well, we have never seen one but the current theory is that they aren't real. Oh, angels are real." Kate said.
Charlie nearly dropped her cup. "This is crazy."
"We have books you can read." Kate said.
"I have read books. I love books. Just because it is in a book doesn't make it real." Charlie said.
Kate sighed. "If I show you something, you have to promise not to freak out."
Charlie nodded.
Kate stood up and backed away from the table. She let her wings out and waved her fingers, muttering an awkward, "Tada."
Charlie shakily sipped the lemonade before putting it on the table.
Dean groaned and grabbed Charlie's shoulders. "Okay, this is the second time you've made her pass out."
Kate put her wings away. "I thought the wings would be less scary than any of the other abilities. I for sure don't want her thinking I'm a demon."
"We have gotten way too casual about this," Taylor said.
"Oh, you're one to talk Mr. call lightning down from the sky," Kate said with crossed arms.
Dean moved Charlie to the sofa and sighed heavily. "Well, that couldn't have gone worse."
"She just passed out. She didn't try running." Kate said.
"Because she passed out!" Dean said.
"Well, I think she is handling it well," Kate said with a huff.
Marie got a cool cloth for Charlie and sat beside her. "Maybe let me talk to her when she wakes up."
"Yeah, that is probably a better idea," Dean said.
"She likes fantasy books and games. She likes Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. We could use that to our advantage." Kate said.
"This isn't either of those. This is real life." Dean said.
"Are you sure? Are you sure it hasn't been one long fever dream, Dean?" Kate asked.
Dean looked unimpressed. "Spin it how you want. We need her. She may faint at the drop of a hat but the kid can hack just about anything."
"She's not a kid. She is 17." Kate said.
"Hey, anyone younger than me is a kid," Dean said.
Marie smiled. "Dean is still a kid in my eyes."
"I think you mean a child," Kate said with a smirk.
Dean put her in a headlock. "Glad to see our talk lasted all of two days."
"You would be miserable if you didn't have someone to fight with," Kate said.
Dean kissed the top of her head. "Keep telling yourself that."
Charlie slowly woke up and it took her a moment to remember what happened. She sat up suddenly, ignoring the vertigo that had taken over. "You have freaking wings?!"
Kate was on the other side of the room chatting with Taylor. She turned around. "Uh, yeah."
Charlie abandoned her anxiety and decided she needed to know everything about this family. People in books and movies freaked out when they met a superhero or some mythical creature. She had always told herself she would be chill. That was fantasy though. Now that this strange reality was looking her in the eye, she had to admit that at first she did freak out. It was as if she woke up one day and everything that was blue was suddenly red. She felt a bit like Alice when she woke up in Wonderland. "What are you? Oh, wow that was rude of me. You can't just ask people what they are. Who are you? No, that still isn't right."
Kate sat on the edge of the couch. "We are still figuring that out. I am a mix of things."
"You are... human though, right?" Charlie asked. She palmed her forehead. "You know what I mean."
"Yes. Just a human with a few quirks." Kate said.
"Quirks? No, I have quirks. You have freaking wings. Can I see them?" Charlie asked.
Kate let them out again and was amused by Charlie's curiosity.
"They don't feel like anything." Charlie said, waving her hand through the particles of light.
"They are just light. They don't really do anything aside from look cool." Kate said.
Charlie looked around the room. "Do all of you have them?"
"No, just her." Taylor said. "She thought to ask and they were given to her."
Charlie gasped. "You just asked for them?"
"That is a long story." Kate said. "I can do a whole bunch of other things. I just thought the wings would be comforting. I guess not. I had just told you about demons so I didn't want to move a cup across the room or anything like that."
"Can you do that?" Charlie asked.
"Yep. Taylor can too." Kate said.
Charlie got lost in asking questions and listening to explanations.
Dean exited the room with Marie and Rod. "She is taking it better than she did at first."
"She said she loves books and mentioned a few fantasy books. She is probably just fascinated." Marie said.
On the way over here, Kate mentioned a few things. She didn't read her but she saw something. I guess, we were supposed to find her or something.
"Kate seems smitten," Marie commented.
"I think they became best friends when Kate realized Charlie can keep up with my interrogation tactics."
Marie smiled. "You just have a soft spot."
Rod spoke up. "She does stuff on her computer, right?"
"Yes. She can hack into different systems." Dean said.
"Maybe we should buy internet for out here." Rod said.
"I am sure she would like that but it can be expensive. Oh, right. You spoil people." Dean said.
Kate ran into the dining room. "We are going to go outside so we can show Charlie a few things."
"Please make good choices. Don't misuse abilities. Any butt kicking that needs to be done will be forwarded to dad." Dean said.
"I transfer feelings once and suddenly you think I don't know how to act." Kate said with a smirk.
"I know you don't know how to act. You are just about feral." Dean said.
Charlie was excited and amazed by what they could do. She had lived 17 years of her life not knowing that there were people out there that could do those things. "Holy cow! Do that again!"
Karen had escaped needing to meet very many people or use her real name. She hadn't needed documentation or an ID card. However, she was incredibly nervous about not having something tangible. She called Dean and asked him if Charlie knew how to make those kinds of documents.
Dean stepped outside. "Hey, Charlie."
Charlie turned. "Yeah?"
"Do you know how to make fake ID cards and stuff?" Dean asked.
Charlie scoffed. "Easy peasy. Uh, unless I am not supposed to. In that case, no I have never made any fake IDs."
"We have someone that needs a few documents. As long as you haven't murdered anyone, we tend to overlook such activities." Dean said.
Kate skipped over. "He has a dozen or so fake IDs."
"I only have two." Charlie said. Her eyes widened as she realized she gave up her secret.
"So, Charlie, how old do those say that you are?" Dean asked as he leaned on the railing.
"21 and 18." Charlie admitted.
"And you are 15?" Dean asked.
"17, dude. 17." Charlie said.
"Do you still go to school?" Kate asked.
"No way. I move around too much for that. I took all of my exams one year and graduated early." Charlie answered.
Kate shot Taylor a look and then made eye contact with Dean. "We can graduate early?!"
Dean saw that coming from a mile away. "Maybe if you were a sophomore or junior. You can't graduate early from seventh grade."
"She could skip a few." Charlie said.
"You aren't helping." Dean said with a huff. "We are settled in one place. If you fly through the school system, people are going to start asking questions."
"Not if we claimed to be homeschooled," Kate said.
Dean cringed. "We tried that, remember?"
"We were in the bunker, bored to death." Kate shot back.
"Whoa, whoa, wait. You have a bunker?" Charlie asked.
"Can we take Charlie to the bunker?" Taylor thought she was cool.
"Just go ahead and unload all of our secrets in one day." Dean said.
"We haven't told her everything," Kate said with a grin. "I haven't said anything about Tessa."
Charlie clapped her hands. "Tell me about Tessa."
"No!" Dean said. "Kate, I will end you."
Kate cleared her throat. "Tessa is.."
"Taylor, grab her." Dean said.
Taylor wrapped his arm around Kate's neck and covered her mouth with his hand.
Kate leaned forward, rolling Taylor off her back, onto the ground.
Taylor rolled sideways to get away from her and caught the back of her leg with his leg.
Kate lost her balance and hit her hands and knees. It had been a long time since they sparred and she forgot how fun it was. She managed to get in a better position and wrapped her legs around Taylor's torso, locking her ankles together. She threaded her arm under his and grabbed her opposite hand, making it impossible for him to move.
Taylor tapped her arm and rolled away from her with a laugh.
Charlie was slack-jawed and slightly confused. When they both laughed, she relaxed. "You have so totally got to show me how to do that!"
"That is nothing. Fighting with abilities is awesome." Taylor said.
"No. No abilities. We do not use abilities on family." Dean said, shaking his head.
Taylor jumped up the steps and stopped beside Dean. He pointed to a spot on Dean's neck. "You have a little something right here." He touched Dean's neck with his fingertip and lightly shocked him.
Dean jumped. "Son of a... Get your ass back here."
Taylor dove off the porch and ran for his life.
Dean grabbed his shoes from inside and shoved his feet into them. "I'm going to kill him. He is so dead. Taylor! Come face me like a man."
"Taylor shocked him when he touched him. It is a fun game they play." Kate explained.
"Not a game, gonna kill him," Dean muttered and took off once he got Taylor in his line of sight.
"Is he going to kill him?" Charlie asked. She wasn't sure if Dean was truly angry about being shocked.
Kate snorted. "No. He may put him in a headlock or throw him in a pond. Besides, if he did kill him, he would be okay. We tend to come back to life."
