Thanksgiving day was hectic. Kids were running around outside and inside. They had been encouraged to be as loud and crazy as they wanted so that the meal wouldn't be chaos. The teenagers got sent to keep an eye on the younger ones. No one wanted a hurt kid.

April shifted. She couldn't get comfortable.

Caleb rubbed her back. "Can I do anything for you?"

April kissed his cheek. "I'm okay. I think she is on a nerve."

Desiree asked for a tennis ball and showed Caleb how he could press it against her back and roll it to ease the pain.

April sighed. "Much better."

The teenagers were chatting and catching up but also keeping the kids from killing each other. Kate stepped off the porch. "Ian! Let go of his neck."

Ian let Ben's head go and grinned at Kate.

Kate cringed when Ian fell back as Ben tackled him. "It is a good thing they are tough."

Charlie was more nervous. She didn't want them to get bruised or hurt.

Taylor sat down in a rocking chair and relaxed. "Tell us about Noah."

Jo glared at him. "He's not an asshat like you."

Taylor rocked himself back slightly. "Hey, I am looking out for you."

Jo crossed her arms. "Kate, do you think Noah is a good person?"

Kate smiled. "Yes. He seems nice."

Taylor narrowed his eyes. "You told Kate about him?"

Jo rolled her eyes. "Duh."

Taylor shot Kate a look.

Jo wasn't hiding Noah from Taylor but would avoid his questions just because it bothered him. "You can meet him one day. One day as in years from now."

Kate did think that Noah was a good person. Jo lit up when she spoke about him. She let Kate read a few moments with him. He genuinely seemed like a good guy.

Andy ran up the steps holding his hand to his cheek.

"Where are you going?" Taylor asked.

"Inside to find Mr. Lee." Andy said.

Krissy ran up the steps and pulled back on his jacket. "Don't be a baby. I barely hit you."

Andy dropped his hand, revealing a pink mark on his cheek. "Yeah well I can't hit you back."

Krissy stepped back. "Yes you can. We will be even."

Andy eyed her. "No. I'd get in trouble."

Krissy looked annoyed. "You can't get my dad."

Andy let go of the door completely. "Why shouldn't I? You hit me."

Krissy turned from sass to sadness. "If you tell him, I'll have to go inside and won't be able to play."

Andy groaned and stepped away from the door. "Fine but if you hit me again I'm telling your dad."

Krissy smiled and skipped as she followed Andy back down to the other kids.

Taylor sucked air through his teeth. "She is a con artist."

Jo flicked him. "Andy is just a sweetheart."

"Sucker." Taylor said, dodging another flick.

A few minutes later, Krissy stalked up to the porch with her fists clinched.

Andy ran up after her. "I didn't mean to trip you."

Krissy scowled at him. "You did and I got dirty."

Andy's face changed. "If you tell my dad, I'll tell your dad and you hitting me wasn't even an accident."

Krissy growled in frustration and spun on her heel. "I'm only gonna play with girls because boys are dumb."

Andy looked at Taylor as Krissy stomped away.

Taylor put a hand on his shoulder and looked into his eyes. "From experience, I think it is best to just stay away from girls. They do nothing but get you into trouble."

Andy rubbed the back of his neck. "I hope Lauren is nice."

Kate turned. "She will be. Besides, you are so much older than she will be. It won't be like having Krissy around."

Taylor snorted.

Kate pushed into his head. Do not compare this to me and Dean."

Taylor cleared his throat. "You can hang out up here too."

Andy looked back at the yard. "I'm hungry."

Charlie got up to go inside. "I'll see how long it will be before we eat."

Andy spotted a bucket with water in it. The first inch or so was frozen but the ice broke with a stick. He tried to pick it up but it was too heavy.

Taylor asked what he was doing. "If you pour that over her head, you really will get into trouble."

Andy slumped. "Just a little bit."

Taylor shook his head. "Too risky."

Jess relaxed as Jacob fell asleep. She could feel his face on her collarbone and his feet were tucked up under him. She was going to be sad when he went back to Tony.

Dean spent some time talking to Sam but glanced over at Jess from time to time. Whenever he had a niece or nephew, he would know that they were well taken care of.

April wanted to help Marie and Karen but was too uncomfortable.

Marie pulled a chair closer to the kitchen. "Sit and talk."

April sat down but still couldn't get comfortable. "I might lay down."

Marie told her to rest. "We have the food and the boys are just fine."

April slowly sat down on the bed and pulled her slippers off. She rested her head on her pillow and her hand on her stomach.

Caleb was very worried about April but Desiree told him that it was common to be miserable during the last month of pregnancy. "I just want her pain to go away."

Karen gave him a few tasks to keep his mind until the food was done.

The kids entered the house. They all had red noses and cold hands.

Ian tried to go to the kitchen, but Caleb stopped him.

"Clean clothes first." He lowered his voice when Ian started to get mad. "First clothes."

Ian let Caleb take his outer clothes off and only whined a little when he they went upstairs.

Caleb pulled a t shirt over Ian's head and smoothed his hair down. "There, now you can eat."

April felt better after she had a nap. She shuffled downstairs and helped get the kids set up to eat.

The kids got their own table in the same room. It was just too crowded to have them all at the big table.

Taylor guided Andy to a seat that wasn't near Krissy. He felt for the kid.

Jacob had woken up from his nap too and was irritable.

Jess tried to soothe him but he was wiggly and seemed to be in pain.

The women were busy so John decided to offer his help.

"He may be hungry." Jess said.

John got a good look at Jacob and turned him so that he was laying on one forearm. He supported his head by cupping his chin and whacked his back a few shook his head. "I'm not hitting him hard."

"I didn't think you hurt him. I just didn't know you could do that." Jess said.

Dean spun around as he heard a burp that rivaled any other burp he had ever heard. "Was that him?"

John handed Jacob back to Jess. "He just needed to get that bubble out."

Dean picked up Jacob's hand and fist bumped him. "That was awesome."

Jacob settled and was content to be held and watch the movement and the lights.

Marie took Jacob from Jess and insisted that she focus on eating and chatting with the others. She stroked Jacob's cheek and tilted him so that he wasn't laying back. She didn't want reflux to become an issue.

Sam stopped John to ask how he got Jacob to burp. "It looked like you smacked him."

John gave him a small smile. "No. It sounds bad but doesn't hurt them."

Sam shrugged. He had been incredibly gentle, afraid that he'd break the baby.

Conversations around the big table was pleasant. No one talked about hunting. No one talked about monsters. They talked about kids and school.

The kid table was a bit more chaotic but relatively contained.

Andy got up to get another roll.

Krissy told him to get one for her.

Andy scrunched his nose but got one for her anyway. He held his hand out for her to take hers.

Krissy stood up and pulled his roll from his other hand. "I don't trust you not to make mine yucky."

Andy hadn't even considered that. "I'm not mean like you."

Krissy smiled sweetly and thanked him for getting the roll. Those were her favorite.

Jo eyed Taylor. "So Taylor, how is Hailey?" That was payback for him bugging her about Noah.

Taylor's ears turned pink. "Um she is good."

Jo nudged him under the table with her foot.

"What do you want me to say? She is good."

Jo snorted. "See, it isn't fun when someone interrogates you about who you are dating."

Marie perked up. "Are you dating?"

Jo's ears turned as pink as Taylors. "We went on one date and Taylor is being difficult."

Marie rocked slightly due to the baby in her arms. "That is wonderful."

"Dad claims he's a good person but I don't know yet." Taylor said.

John swallowed a bite of stuffing. "As far as I know, he is. Jo, correct me if I am wrong but I believe that he works with his dad. They don't hunt much anymore but do make some high-quality weapons. I know there is more than one but Noah is the one that is your age, right?"

Jo nodded. "Yes, sir."

"Your mom doesn't have a problem with him." John said as he took another bite.

Jo gasped. "Excuse me?"

"I mentioned that Taylor was losing his mind and she said that Noah would be good for you." John said with a slight twinkle to his eyes.

Jo slid down in her seat. "You told her?"

"No. She has known for a few weeks. You kids aren't as sneaky as you think you are." John said.

Charlie was comfortable just listening to people. Everyone seemed so normal. In a way, they were normal. They were her new normal.

Kate was happy to listen too. She figured she ran less of a risk of being embarrassed if she let them focus on Jo and Taylor.

Jacob sneezed and brought the attention back to him.

Jess's heart melted. Baby sneezes were adorable. "Do you want me to take him?"

Marie waved her off. "He is just fine right here."

"I told you that you wouldn't get to hold him once we got here." Sam said.

Karen leaned over to touch one of Jacob's feet. "There is a waiting list."

April loved seeing the family dote on Jacob. That meant that they would do the same for Lauren. They loved her boys so she was never worried but newborns were full of firsts. Lauren would have a first cry. She'd have a first hiccup and one day, a laugh. She'd walk for the first time too. That made her a little sad. Babies should stay babies for a bit longer.

After the meal, Caleb talked to Kate. "April is uncomfortable. Do you think you could take the edge off of that?"

Kate shrugged. "I can try."

April let her touch her stomach and sighed in relief as the ache left her back and hips. "Much better."

The kids were right back to chaos as soon as they were excused from their table. The treehouse was being put to good use. Ian wanted to follow Andy up the tree but that was a skill he hadn't quite figured out. He got up two of the boards and found that his boot got caught. He screeched and angrily tried to pull his foot away.

Caroline slipped Ian's boot off and Caitlyn kept him from falling. It took a few tries to get his foot back into his boot but they managed it.

Dean made sure that Ian and Ben didn't leap out of the tree house. He had been hanging out with the other adults but saw toddlers and treehouses as a guaranteed injury.

Some of the guys stepped outside to continue their chats. The sun was going down and they'd need to round up the kids. Rod had installed a lighting system that bathed the area around the house in bright light. That gave the kids a bit longer to run around.

April grunted as Kate's pain relief wore off. She stood up and leaned against the wall.

Karen was at her side in a split second. "Are you okay?"

April grimaced. "I was so comfortable and wasn't expecting it to hit at once. I'm okay.

"Karen thought April looked flushed. "I'll get you some water."

April didn't necessarily want water. She wanted the pain to stop.

James rounded up his kids in order to get them back home at a decent time. He got a chorus of whining but they all looked tired. "We will come back in the morning."

Caroline went inside to grab her bag and help her mom.

Caleb caught Ian and carried him into the house. There was a large utility room where the kids could remove wet boots without tracking mud through the house.

Dean waited for Andy. He was working on a snowman and wanted to put the finishing touches on it. "Come on. I'm freezing."

Andy tiptoed. "Can you put the hat on?"

Dean scoffed at what a softy he had become. He placed the snow hat on the snowman's head and stepped back. "There."

Andy hugged his snowman. "I'm gonna name him."

April tensed up as a wave of pain hit her. Her knees got weak as realization hit her. "Get Caleb!"

Caleb heard his name and ran to where April was. "What's wrong."

April held up her finger to tell him to wait. She grimaced and took deep breaths.

Ian's jacket had been taken off but his boots and snow pants were still on. He couldn't quite reach the boot to take it off. He got frustrated and kicked his feet.

Krissy helped by pulling on the bottom of the fell back as the boot left his foot.

He grinned and held his other foot out.

Kate felt as though an atomic bomb had gone off. Her ears were ringing and the air felt heavy. No one else seemed to be feeling it.

Krissy grabbed the foot of Ian's pants and pulled with all of her strength. She stumbled and landed on her butt but the pants were off.

Ian giggled and smiled at her. He took a step and felt different. His smile got bigger.

The lights in the house started to flicker and the curtains whipped around as wind filled the room.

Dean and Andy were just outside the door and Dean yanked the door open.

John whipped his head around, in search of what was causing the wind and light flickering.

It settled down a bit and Desiree was able to ask what was going on.

"I don't know." John said.

Desiree didn't know if it was safe to go outside or not.

John pushed the front door open. "Go."

Caroline was still inside. Dean grabbed her and shoved her through the door and into her mother's arms.

James and Desiree got their family away from the house. They still didn't know what was attacking them. They got back to their own house and ushered the kids inside.

James paced. "I have to go back."

Desiree didn't want him to leave. "There are so many hunters in there already. What can you do?"

James ran his fingers through his hair and stopped when he realized the kids were watching him. He put on a calmer face. "Everyone should get ready for bed."

Desiree was just as freaked out as James was but helped the kids wash and put on pajamas. What ever it was, they couldn't help them if the kids were awake.

Rod ducked as a pillow sailed by him. "Nothing can get in. We warded. We triple warded."

John was already running through a list of things that could be in the house.

Krissy tearfully found Lee and jumped into his arms.

Taylor met eyes with Dean as he rounded a corner. His eyes flicked to looked at Ian.

He didn't seem scared.

Dean swore under his breath. He slowly approached Ian. "Do you have your bracelet?"

Ian stepped back.

Dean couldn't approach him. He tried to stay calm. Ian could blow the roof off of the house if he was upset.

Jess tried to shield Jacob. She felt Sam's arms wrap around her and followed his steps as he steered them to Dean's car.

Taylor slowly stepped away from Ian. He ran to where the others were. "It's Ian."

April gasped but let her knees buckle from the pain.

Caleb left her with Karen to go get Ian.

Ian saw his dad and got a little upset. He didn't want to put the bracelet back on.

John grabbed Caleb and pulled him back to April. "You've got to take her to the hospital."

Caleb was torn between the safety of his boys and the seriousness of preterm labor. "Ian."

John got Caleb's attention. "If she is having the baby tonight, you had best be in a hospital. Kate!"

Kate stumbled around the couch. Her ears were ringing.

John told her to get Caleb and April to Sioux Falls hospital.

Caleb held his hand out to stop her. "The boys."

John put a firm hand on each of Caleb's shoulders. "Do you trust me?"

Caleb nodded although he was in fight or flight mode.

"We will get his bracelet back on. You get your wife some help." John said.

Caleb was in shock. He just nodded his head.

Karen touched Kate's arm. "Take me too."

Kate took deep breaths and centered herself.

Caleb looked around. They were in the parking lot of the hospital. He helped April stay upright and sent Karen ahead to get help.

Kate returned to Marie's house with a great deal of effort. It was like a stream was pushing her away.

Sam stopped her. "Ian's bracelet is off." Sam shivered and knew that Jacob and Jess would be cold.

Kate didn't need him to verbally ask her to get Dean's keys.

Dean heard the word 'keys' and tossed them to Kate without thinking about it.

Sam turned the car on and ran the heater to keep them warm. "I'll be back."

John took a second to think and started shouting orders. "Taylor, get your grandparents out of here. Dean, find Andy." He turned around. There were too many people to keep track of.

Lee handed Krissy to Charlie and had them go outside. He didn't know what was going on still and he didn't want Krissy to get hurt.

Charlie ran to Dean's car and jumped into the backseat with Krissy.

Kate sat down on the floor in front of Ian. She spoke softly to him and tried to coax him into telling her where the bracelet was. She couldn't quite read him. She could barely focus due to the surges of energy.

Dean remembered that Ian had been taking off his boots right before that. He found the bracelet on the floor beside his boots.

Ian backed away and shook his head. "No."

Dean explained why the bracelet needed to go back on, knowing that Ian could understand what he was saying.

Ian was not having it. He got upset and stomped his feet. The house rattled and the lights flickered.

Taylor tried to dampen Ian's abilities but that just made him angry.

Dean slid back a few feet.

Ian's face got red as his frustration built.

Taylor tried to grab him and hit a solid wall of energy. "Ian. Stop."

Ian darted out of the room and tried to open the front door.

Kate jumped to stop him.

John put his hand on the door.

Ian screeched and clinched his fists.

The door started to open, no matter how hard John tried to push on it. He took a deep breath and told Ian to stop.

Ian liked how he felt and didn't like that so many people were telling him no. He started to run up the stairs and blocked Dean from stopping him.

John growled and spoke loudly. "Ian Grant, sit!"

Ian plopped down on one of the steps. His bottom lip wobbled.

John grabbed the bracelet from Dean and approached Ian.

Ian tried to push back so John couldn't reach him.

John just gave him a stern look. "Bracelet on. Now." He was able to grab Ian's ankle and wrap the bracelet around it before Ian started to kick off again. It took a minute to get the bracelet latched and Ian was livid once it was back on. John swatted him once and told him to cut it out.

Ian was distraught. He ran to Bobby and buried his face in Bobby's shirt.

The house calmed down and the lights went back to normal.

John ran his hands through his hair and popped his neck. "How did that get taken off?"

Kate got a good look at the bracelet. "I don't know. The latch is fine."

With the crisis over, John motioned for the others to come back into the house. Everyone was shaken and confused. He needed to figure out how to do damage control and explain things to Lee and the other adults who didn't already know about Ian. A phone call to James was enough to say that things were okay now. It didn't stop him from asking questions.

Ian wouldn't let go of Bobby. He was still upset and a bit tired.

Bobby rubbed his back and let out the breath he had been holding as Ian fell asleep.

Andy was more than upset. "Where is my mom?"

John put a hand on his shoulder. "They went to the hospital."

Lee furrowed his brows. Caleb's truck was still parked outside.

Dean had Kate take Andy and Krissy to the kitchen for a drink. He made sure Sam and Jess were okay and looked around the house for damage.

John wracked his brain for how he was going to explain things to Lee.

Lee crossed his arms. "What the hell was that? I thought you said demons couldn't get in this place."

"Demons can't get in. It wasn't a demon." John said. He told Lee to take a seat. "It was Ian."

Lee looked at the other people in the room. They didn't seem shocked. "The baby?"

"Ian has some abilities but the bracelet on his leg keeps him from using them." John said.

"So, he is some kind of creature." Lee said.

John's eyes darkened. "No. He is a kid who has abilities. We are all still trying to figure it out. He is just a kid."

Lee shook his head. "You can't do stuff like that and be just a kid."

John was in a delicate position. He didn't want to expose Ian. He also didn't want Lee to run with the creature angle.

Dean saw his dad struggling. He pulled him to the side for a moment and spoke to him in hushed whispers.

John nodded. He was not a patient man and didn't like to be challenged.

Dean stepped around John and sat across from Lee. "Not everything is black and white. It has taken a long time for us to understand a fraction of it. Something happened a long time ago and some being decided to play god. Things have changed." He shifted. "Option A is that you keep your cool and we clue you in. Option B is that you lose your cool and you don't get to be clued in."

Lee wasn't a fan of Dean's tone.

Dean called Kate into the room. He tilted his head to tell Taylor to swap places with Kate.

Kate stood beside Dean. "What?"

Dean looked at Lee. "Sometimes it is easier to rip the bandaid off." He squeezed Kate's hand. "Show him."

Kate let her wings unfold and put them away a few seconds later.

Lee was frozen.

Krissy gasped loudly. "Are you an angel?"

Taylor yanked her back into the kitchen.

"What the… what the hell was that?" Lee demanded.

"I have some abilities too. That doesn't make me bad or non-human." Kate said.

Lee eyed her suspiciously.

"I was born totally human and then something attacked me when I was a baby." Kate said.

"An angel?" Lee asked, not believing her.

Kate shrugged. "We still aren't clear on that."

Lee shot John a harsh look. "You have been hiding this and just expecting people to be okay with it?"

John challenged him. "If Krissy was the one that woke up with a pair of wings, would you run down every hunter you knew to tell them?"

Lee flicked his eyes toward the kitchen. No, he would protect her. "What are you?"

Kate's nose flared. "Human."

Lee was questioning everything he had ever known.

Dean's plan was to wipe his memory if he chose to be an ass. He wasn't going to say what Ian was mixed with. He chose Kate because angel wings looked better than glowing eyes or flickering lights."

Kate approached him. "I heal people. I can move people away from danger. I threw that vampire off of your back."

Lee vaguely remembered something about that.

"Ian is two. He doesn't know how to control it yet. He has the temper of a two-year-old and that is it." Kate said.

Krissy slipped out of her chair and ran back to the living room. She wrapped her arms around Kate's middle and looked up at her. "You got wings?"

Kate put a hand on her head. "It is a long story."

Krissy patted Kate's back where the wings had been. "Where did they go?" She squeaked and whined when Lee pulled her to sit beside him.

"I can show you. We are not evil. We help people." Kate said.

Lee was apprehensive about letting her touch him.

Kate wasn't going to heal him because she agreed with John about him needing to take a long time to heal. She gently touched the side of his head and brought up memories of his wife.

Lee's eyes got glassy. "What did you do?"

"I can pull memories and stuff. Things you may have forgotten, I can pull out. If you are having nightmares, I can make you only dream about happy things." Kate said.

Lee could smell his wife's perfume and feel how soft her hands were.

Andy put his head down on the table and started sobbing. He hiccupped and got a little sick to his stomach.

Taylor sat beside him. "Hey, everything is okay."

Andy shook his head and mumbled.

Taylor urged him to sit up. "Why are you crying?"

Andy's breath hitched. "It is all my fault."

Taylor soothed him. "No it isn't."

Andy hiccupped again. "My mom and baby Lauren."

"We don't know if Lauren will be born tonight. If she is, she will be a little small. Babies are born early all the time and just need a few more days to learn to breathe on their own. They are okay." Taylor said.

Andy got up and paced. He chewed the side of his hand and dug his finger nails into his palm.

Taylor tried to calm him down. "Everything is okay. This wasn't your fault."

Andy was so frustrated with himself and wanted to disappear. "I took it off."

Taylor froze. He whispered. "What?"

Andy covered his face and mumbled that he took Ian's bracelet off and everything was his fault.

John overheard him and stepped into the kitchen. "What did you just say?"

Andy's eyes grew wide and he ran to the other side of Taylor.

John put his hands on the table. "Andrew, what did you just say?"

Andy shook his head and backed away.

John snapped his fingers and pointed to the spot in front of him.

Andy couldn't get his feet to move.

John stalked over to him and put his hand on the back of his neck, steering him back to the table. "I will not ask you again."

Andy's shoulders shot up to his ears. "I don't think I clipped it good when I put it back on."

John grabbed Andy by the upper arm and told Taylor to get Kate. He needed to have a talk with Andy but didn't want Lee to know about that part of the story.

Kate slid into the kitchen. "Yes, sir?"

"Get us to Sioux Falls." John said.

Andy tried to pull away from him. "No!"

John ignored him and narrowed his eyes at Kate.

Kate got them to Bobby's house right away. "What is going on?"

John pointed to the couch for Andy to sit down. "He claims that he took Ian's bracelet off. We are going to discuss that in detail. Tell Dean to message Caleb and tell him that everything is okay and Ian has his bracelet on. Dean and Bobby can handle Lee."

Kate covered her mouth and shot Andy a sympathetic look. "Maybe take a minute?"

John took a slow breath. "Now, Katelyn."

Kate landed back in Marie's kitchen with a lump in her throat. She quietly explained the situation to Dean.

Dean was stunned. "Shit."

"Dad wants you to let Caleb know." Kate said.

Dean got his phone out. He called Caleb and asked if April was okay.

Caleb said that she was in a room and in labor. He was terrified.

"Look, man. Focus on her. Ian has his bracelet back on and is asleep thanks to Bobby." Dean said.

Caleb was sick to his stomach. "How?"

"Ah, we are figuring that out still. Um, keep us updated on April. Don't worry about the kids." Dean said.

(Caleb)

Caleb set his phone down and held April's hand. "Ian's okay. The roof is still on the house."

April laughed pitifully.

Karen got a cool cloth for April's head and helped her to stay somewhat calm.

Each contraction nearly made Caleb pass out. He wanted to trade places or take her pain away. "Baby, I can tell them to give you the pain meds."

April gritted her teeth. "No."

Caleb brushed her hair back. "This isn't like with Ian. You can take the meds."

April grabbed Caleb's shirt and pulled him so that he was closer to her. "If you tell me to take the meds one more time, I'm going to slap you."

Caleb's cheeks turned pink. He nodded and went back to holding her hand. "No pain meds, got it." He was in awe of her strength. He smiled slightly.

April grimaced. "Why are you smiling?"

Caleb's eyes twinkled. "I've never loved you more than I do right now."

April relaxed as the contraction passed. She let him sit beside her and rub her neck. "I am sorry that I snapped."

Caleb kissed her on the head. "You snap as much as you want. You are incredible."

April whimpered and laid her head on his shoulder. He might change his mind as things progressed.

(John)

John sat on the coffee table and made Andy look at him. "Report."

Andy slid down in his seat. "I didn't mean to. Did mom start having the baby because of me?"

John softened slightly. "No. She was in labor before all of this happened."

Andy sniffled and looked at his hands. "What if they die?"

"They won't. If either of them has any type of problem, Kate can heal them." John said. "Ian is okay. Your parents are okay. Now, tell me what you meant by you taking his bracelet off."

Andy hid his face. "He bumped his face and I took it off so he could heal but I put it back on. Maybe I didn't fasten it right."

((TW))

John studied Andy. "When was this?"

"Before we went to Marie's." Andy said.

"That isn't the only time you have done it." John said.

Andy shrunk. He shook his head.

"How many times?" John asked.

Andy avoided John's gaze. "A few."

John stiffened. "How many times?"

Andy frowned. "Maybe three."

John tilted his chin up. "Why?"

Andy licked his lips. "He cut his mouth real bad."

John shook his head. "No, why did you do it before that."

Andy's eyes drifted. He didn't want to answer that.

"One." John counted.

Andy snapped his eyes back to his.

"Two."

Andy pulled his face back. "I want my dad."

"Your dad is helping your mom right now. Answer me." John said.

Andy couldn't tell him that the other times were silly reasons like getting his rocket back. "I don't want you to be mad."

John stood him up and swatted him. His hand hit but Andy didn't feel it. "How many pairs of pants do you have on?"

Andy threw his hands behind him. "Not many."

John narrowed his eyes. "Three."

Andy folded. "Jeans and pjs because it was cold."

John nodded and started to take the extra layers down.

Andy held onto his waistband. "No."

John stopped and looked him in the eye. "Andrew. You are already in very very hot water. If you fight me I am going to get that ruler off of Bobby's fridge and wear you out with it."

Andy dropped his hands but tried to talk John down. "I can explain."

John pulled him to stand between his knees. "Good."

Andy started crying again when he got pushed over John's leg. "My dad will be mad. You don't gotta do this."

John put his arm over Andy's back. "No. He will focus on April and Lauren. When they leave the hospital, he deserves to come home to a calm house. He isn't going to get home from a stressful delivery and have to bust your butt. So, I'll be doing that."

Andy twisted. He would rather Caleb handle it because he might have a chance of having hide left when he was done.

John swatted him once. "Why did you take the bracelet off?"

Andy tensed. "If I tell you, you are going to whack me."

John was losing patience. "Do I need to get the ruler?"

Andy shook his head. "Uh the first time my rocket went too far away and he got it back."

John pieced it together. "That is the day I was there and the lights flickered. I'm assuming the other times were due to similar things."

Andy wondered if Kate could teleport him away if he tried to talk to in his head. "Yes, sir."

"I'm also assuming that is why Ian has been a terror lately about getting the bracelet off." John said.

Andy didn't answer, he just dropped his head.

John shook his head and started landing hard swats. He stopped to pull Andy's jeans down further and smacked the back of his thighs.

Andy yelped and said he was sorry.

"You did not cause your mom to go into labor but you put everyone in danger." John said, firmly. He kept spanking and shook his hand out when it started to sting.

Andy was starting to panic. This was even worse than when he accidentally crashed the truck. "I didn't mean to!"

"Were you given an order not to take his bracelet off?" John asked.

Andy sucked in a breath of air.

John started landing swats again. "Yes. You were. Were you told why it was dangerous? Yes, you were." He kept the tempo up for a minute. "Your dad has had the weapons talk with you. This is no different. You knew his abilities were dangerous and decided to arm him to get a plastic rocket back."

Andy sobbed into his arms. He felt guilty. He felt really dumb but mostly he felt like he might just die. "I won't do it again."

John paused. "If you ever do something dangerous like this again, I will take my belt to you."

Andy gasped and tried to get away.

John popped his leg. "Your dad is like a son to me. You are part of the family so I'm going to treat you like any of my kids. Dean and Kate are back at Marie's house trying to explain to Lee that your brother isn't a demon. You put everyone in physical danger but you also exposed Ian, Kate and Taylor to outsiders." He landed another dozen or so hard swats and let Andy stand.

Andy's hands flew back to try to calm the sting. He was still crying and felt like he had been scalded.

John steadied him. He pulled the pajamas back up but let him take off the jeans. He pulled Andy into a hug and stayed quiet as Andy calmed down.

Andy sniffled. "Everyone is going to hate me."

"No." John said. "They may be frustrated but no one hates you. Kate and Taylor have pulled similar stunts and no one hates them." John said.

Andy wiped his nose. "Is… is my dad gonna spank me too?"

John handed him a tissue. "I'd say not." He let Andy wrap his arms around his neck and patted his back. "You do need to tell him though."

Andy wilted.

"Not tonight. I will tell him that everything is under control but you will have to tell them about each time you took the bracelet off." John said. "Once you are calm, we are going back to Marie's house. I am not telling Lee, James or Desiree how the bracelet came off. We have enough to explain to them."

Andy tried to stop the tears. "What if Dean or Bobby gets really mad at me?"

John grimaced. "I think they might just feel the least bit sorry for you."

Andy stepped back and rubbed. "Cuz you tried to kill me?"

John put a hand on his head. "They were all kids once. They all did stupid things. I expect you to grow up and be just as good of a man as they are."

Andy didn't think he'd grow up at the rate he was going. "I'm really sorry."

John nodded. "I know."

Andy's bottom lip wobbled. "You don't hate me, right?"

John shook his head. "No. I was very frustrated with you. With our family, you take your consequence and then all is forgiven."

Andy had several opinions about John's consequences. He chose to just nod and sniffle.

((ETW))

John messaged Kate and waited for her to show up.

Kate felt bad for Andy after she saw his face. She gave him a small hug.

John stopped her as he sent Andy to clean his face. "If you try to heal him, I will wear you out as well."

Kate's mouth fell open. "Why do you think I'd do that."

John put an arm around her shoulders. "You have a big heart and poor risk assessment."

Kate smirked. "I'm not healing the knot in your neck either."

John lightly smacked her head. "If a sore neck is all I get out of tonight, I will be fine."

"That's good because you will need to talk to James. Dean and I decided Lee was enough." Kate said.

John saw Andy coming down the stairs and tilted his head to tell him to join them. "As far as they know, Ian's bracelet broke and we just need to strengthen it. As far as family goes, Andy will be making apologies."

Kate held her hand out for Andy to take and flared her nose when John looked at her. "Just teleporting, not healing."

(April and Caleb)

Caleb stayed by April's side. He was glad that Karen was there too. He didn't offer April any medication but he did try to help her anyway he could.

April was scared because Lauren was early. She was already too far into labor for them to stop it. The doctors told her that Lauren's heart rate was good and she would just need to be checked out once she was born. April wanted them to help Lauren but was terrified that they'd take her out of the room.

Caleb knelt beside her. "What can I do?"

"Don't let them take her. We can't protect her if they take her. Something could get to her." April said.

Caleb's heart skipped a beat. "I'll talk to the nurse, okay?"

Karen took over as Caleb stepped out of the room. "He might just pass out."

April gave her a small smile.

Karen offered April some ice chips and watched the monitor. "You're almost there."

Caleb talked to the nurse in charge and said that Ian had been taken away and dropped, leaving him in critical condition for a few days. That wasn't true but he couldn't say that they couldn't take Lauren because a demon may take her. "My wife is anxious and Lauren cannot leave our sights."

The nurse was understanding. She talked it over with her staff and brought an incubator into the room. Unless Lauren needed emergency surgery, they could keep her in the same room.

April had another contraction and got up to walk around.

Caleb was going to tell her to rest but the look on her face made him shut his mouth. He held his arm out and supported her as she paced.

The room got crowded with a crew for April and another for Lauren.

Karen tried to stay out of the way.

April was back in bed as it had been an hour and Lauren hadn't budged. It hit her all at once and she grabbed Caleb's arm and nearly pulled it away from his body.

Caleb was scared. He didn't know how to help her and that contraction seemed to be the worst one yet. He heard a shrill cry and went white.

Karen patted his arm. "She will skin you if you pass out."

Caleb kissed April and wrapped his arms around her. He kept an eye on the tiny baby that had been whisked away to the side of the room.

April was elated but exhausted. "Don't let them take her."

Caleb stepped over to where they were working on Lauren. They were rubbing her chest and clearing her mouth and nose. A tube was placed for oxygen and a monitor was attached to her tiny foot. "Is she okay?"

The head nurse wrapped Lauren in a blanket and carefully handed her to Caleb. "Her lungs might need some time but she looks great."

Caleb looked at Lauren's face and knew right then that he would never be the same. He was shaky because he felt like he was going to hurt her. He carried her to April and placed her in her arms.

April grinned at Caleb. "She's okay?"

Caleb kissed April's head. "She's okay." He touched her palm and melted when her fingers wrapped around his finger. "She's so tiny."

April studied Lauren's face. She was tiny but not sickly.

The doctor joined the family and listened to Lauren's lungs. "We will do frequent checks but she looks healthy. Her blood sugar is normal. She's on the small side but we expect that with pre term babies. Congratulations."

April didn't want to let Lauren go but she did want to let Karen share their joy.

Karen's eyes were wet from tears. She pulled Lauren's hat back and smiled. "She looks like Lauren."She rubbed her thumb over Lauren's cheeks.

"She does." April said.

She had brown eyes and soft curls of brown hair. April had those too but something about baby Lauren made her see her sister's face. She couldn't take her eyes off of her. "She's perfect."

Caleb remembered the boys. He froze. "Do I tell them?"

April smiled brightly. "Yes. Call them."

Caleb waited until some of the staff left the room. He called John's number and held his breath until he held his breath.

John's hand up to halt conversation. "Is April okay?" He heard a soft cry in the background and a lump formed in his throat.

"She is perfect. Lauren is perfect. She's 5 pounds and healthy." Caleb said.

That got a round of awes and cheers.

John let himself relax. "Andy come here."

Andy wasn't sure if he should tell them about the bracelet."

John just shook his head slightly. "Ian is asleep but Andy is here. Your mom and sister are just fine."

Andy pulled the phone closer to him. "She is here?"

"Yeah, buddy." Caleb said. "Your mom is feeding her."

Andy grinned and bounced. "What does she look like?"

Caleb looked between April and Lauren. "She looks like your mom."

"When can we see her?" Andy asked, excitedly.

"I don't know. The doctors will tell us." Caleb said. He held his hand next to Lauren's foot and took in just how small it was.

John waited for things to calm down. "Do you feel it?"

Caleb shifted. "Feel what?"

"Your spine turning to jello?" John said.

Caleb smiled. "Ah, yeah. That first cry did it."

John glanced at Kate and blew air through his nose. "I've got the boys. You soak up the moment. It doesn't last."

Caleb couldn't even think about going to sleep. He'd let April rest but he would stay up to watch Lauren breathe. He was afraid she would stop if he didn't watch her.

Karen dosed off for two hours but woke up when Lauren fussed. She looked around her and stretched. "How does coffee sound?"

Caleb nodded. "Please." He jumped a little when Kate showed up in the room. "Dear god, Kate."

Kate shuffled over. "She is precious." She touched Lauren's tiny hand and started healing her lungs. She snapped her fingers and pulled a backpack from her shoulders. "April's hospital bag."

Caleb nodded.

"I figured you'd need it." She found the pink dress and ballet slippers. "Here. It can be like my vision."

Caleb used extreme care and slipped one of the shoes on Lauren's foot. He chuckled. They were a bit big. He opted to lay the dress on top of her because she had a few wires on her. He tucked the blanket around her and let Kate took a quick photo.

The camera was a polaroid so it printed the photo instantly. Kate took the photo out and waved it through the air. It was identical to her vision. She handed it to Caleb and walked over to April. She healed her aches and fatigue. "I was told to be quick."

Caleb thanked her. "Make sure my boys don't get into trouble."

Kate grinned awkwardly. "I'll try."

Lauren stirred and blinked. Her bottom lip stuck out and her eyes quickly squinted.

Caleb carried her to April so she could feed her again. He quietly told April that Kate helped them.

April sat up and held Lauren to her. "I feel good."

Lauren's arms were moving around as her body got used to being outside the womb, one of her fingers caught the tube on her nose and pulled it away from her face.

Caleb tried to untangle it so that she didn't pull it let out. Lauren let out a quick cry and wrapped her hand around the tube.

Caleb cracked up. The movements were reflexes but he found it amusing non the less. He told the doctor that Lauren knocked the tube away and held back a laugh as Lauren let the doctor know how she felt about tubes. He grinned when the doctor left to let them trial not having oxygen on.

April gave him a strained look. "Sass already?"

Caleb ran his hand across Lauren's head. "No, not sass. She is strong." He felt her hand wrap around his pinky. He gently moved his fingers to show April that Lauren's grip was strong. He took his coffee from Karen but let Lauren keep his other hand. He straightened to pop his back and snorted. John was right, his spine did turn to jello.
