Tengan walked slowly down the corridor, perfectly calm even amidst all the chaos and despair happening around him. His ticket out of here had arrived and he wasn't going to let it slide. Still, he didn't feel like he needed to rush anytime soon. He just whistled quietly to himself as he walked down the corridor, his eyes closed and his head tilted up as if he didn't have a care in the world. Suddenly an explosion rocked the corridor and his spectacles slipped from his nose. He looked down at the floor, then looked back up again to find six soldiers with Monokuma Hats on their heads aiming down the sights of their guns, poised to kill.

"Ah, perfect timing." he said to them calmly. "Would any of you fine young lads care to help an old man find his glasses?"

The men looked at each other confused. But before they could answer him or attack, they all fell dead, shot full of flechettes from Tengan's Chuusen. Then he picked the spectacles up from among the freshly deceased.

"Thank you for your help, gentlemen." he said, as he put them back on. "Good day."

He walked on. A Beast Monokuma emerged from a connecting hallway behind him, but it paid no heed to the elderly man in the trenchcoat and instead started to feast on the dead men.

"People will feed anything to their pets these days." Tengan noted as he looked behind him, casually adjusting the collar of his coat.

On the war-torn Jabberwock Island, Class 77 was still interrogating Kaizokuma.

"All right, start talking!" said Fuyuhiko. "Who are you assholes and why are you attacking this island?! Tell us now, Winnie the Pieceofshit!"

"Oh, I will gladly explain myself to you." said Kaizokuma. "So perk up your ears, boys and girls, and I will tell you my story. You see, it all started in a secret factory in Towa City. I was originally just an ordinary Monokuma robot, just like all the others you must've seen. But a happy little accident in manufacturing reversed my colors and I was considered a defective model. But a certain Izuru Kamukura found me and repurposed me."

"Izuru Kamukura? Who the hell's that?" asked Fuyuhiko.

"He must be the one who masterminded this whole invasion, as well as the one who put Monokuma in the virtual world." said Sonia Nevermind.

"Correct on both counts, Queen Sonia." said Kaizokuma. "I was to be the failsafe, in case the Killing School Trip was a complete failure."

"Killing School...Trip?" asked Kazuichi. "Is this some kind of a sick joke? Were we supposed to die in the virtual world or something?"

"Yes." Kaizokuma grinned malevolently. "You and your other classmates were all supposed to die and so that your bodies in the real world would be reduced to drooling vegetables."

The students were all shocked to hear this.

"And then...the Junko AI that Izuru Kamukura planted in the virtual world would use those empty husks to gain flesh and blood again, so that she may take over the world."

"The Junko...what?!" asked Fuyuhiko.

"It's a pity you don't remember the great Ms. Enoshima, but anyway. I suppose I should continue with the exposition."

Kaizokuma cleared his throat.

"Anyway, the wonderful gentlemen that I brought here with me come all the way from the formerly United States of America. A land of free speech, liberty, and...lots of people. People of all shapes, sizes, and colors. People that found themselves oppressed or otherwise unsatisfied with their lives in the free world. Unsurprisingly, these people made the perfect infantry for the Western Remnants of Despair. It was truly a shame that there was no Hope's Peak Academy equivalent in the Americas, so they would've had symbols of hope to look up to. America may be the land of the free, but it was also a land thriving with despair. So many unhappy citizens just begging for an excuse to let their negative emotions to run loose on the world. The Remnants of Despair didn't even need to brainwash them to add them to our ranks...but we did anyway, because it was fun."

The others were taken aback. Fuyuhiko was fuming.

"Yes, yes. There's a popular rumor going around that the great Junko Enoshima was forced to resort to simple brainwashing to get what she wanted. But the truth is that the brainwashing was the only the first phase to get the ball rolling. There were already so many sick people out there that saw what Junko Enoshima did and seized the opportunity to get their ball rolling. Many people, many organizations, and World Ender was one of them."

"World Ender? What kind of a stupid name is that?" asked Fuyuhiko.

"I'll explain that later, Kuzuryu! Now keep quiet or you'll lose your other eye." said Kaizokuma.

Then suddenly, Kaizokuma slowly nodded his head and spoke with a strange, ominous and less shrill tone.

"Ah, but it's just disgusting how quickly these people fall to despair. The brainwashed masses are easier for me to deal with. They don't want anything more than to do what Junko Enoshima's brainwashing told them to do. But the ones that do this willingly? I don't see how any of them could have had any hope of surviving in the real world. Were it not for the world of despair that Junko Enoshima created for them, they would all be rotting in prison or lined up before a firing squad. No more than they would deserve either. It took an entire world falling apart at the seams for them to achieve their true purpose in life. Not like her. She knew from the moment she was born that she was destined to make that world fall apart at the seams. Incredible."

"Uh, Kaizo...what the heck are you talking about?" asked Kazuichi, who was looking freaked out.

"Oh, don't mind me." said Kaizokuma, reverting to his usual voice. "I'm just lamenting that I never got the chance to meet a brilliant woman like Junko Enoshima in-person."

"Brilliant woman?" asked Nekomaru. "But didn't she destroy the world? Ain't it her fault the world's gone to shit?"

"Yes, yes, of course." said Kaizokuma, waving his paw to brush him off. "And she also put her own classmates in a Killing Game at Hope's Peak Academy. The recordings of the broadcasts were all I ever got to see of her from when she was alive. Damn, that was a fine woman. A beautiful, buxom woman. God-damn, she was sexy! And the way she...no, never mind. I won't bore you with the details of that."

But the Class 77 were all shocked by what Kaizokuma told them.

"She...made her own classmates kill each other?!" exclaimed Kazuichi.

"Did she really hate them that much?" gasped Akane.

"Oh, no." Kaizokuma shook his head. "Not at all. In fact, she loved them dearly. She manipulated them into killing each other as her way of thanking them for the wonderful years she spent at school with them."

Then Kaizokuma growled.

"However, I on the other hand, could not care one bit about any of you worthless humans!" he snarled at them. "Ultimates! Beacons of Hope! Don't make me laugh! I would have no patience to orchestrate something as elaborate as a Killing Game just to kill all of them. And my philosophy of creating a world of despair is different. Instead of turning all that is hope into despair, I would create despair by destroying all that brings hope. Which is why at this very moment, the Remnants of Despair are knocking at the Future Foundation's doors to wipe out all their leaders."

"They're...what?!" shrieked Sonia, remembering what she heard Kaizokuma say on the Monokopter. "You need to call them off now! Nagito is..."

"I know he's there." said Kaizokuma. "And I know how his Ultimate Luck works. Make no mistake, he will live through this. But everyone there who he cares about will die. And everyone else with them too. His luck has taken many victims...many, many victims over the years. He knows he will have to witness the death of the Ultimate Hope himself, Makoto Naegi. And when it happens, only then will he truly fall into despair like he never did before."

"You shut the hell up, you son of a bitch!" yelled Fuyuhiko, running over to grab Kaizokuma. "That's our friend you're talking about! If anyone's gonna fall into despair here, it's you! If you don't call them off now, I'm gonna rip all the stuffing out of you and replace it with Nekomaru's shit!"

Nekomaru laughed.

"I take very big ones too!"

"Don't bother, please!" groaned Kazuichi. "I doubt it would matter. This stupid bear's already full of shit as it is."

"I must agree with you, Kazuichi." said Sonia.

"Awww, you...you mean it, Miss Sonia?" Kazuichi blushed and grinned.

"Spare me the soap opera, Soda Jerk." said Kaizokuma. "It's fitting that you're the Ultimate Mechanic, because you're nothing but a great big tool."

Kazuichi cried out and looked as if he had tazed and collapsed to the ground in response to what Kaizokuma said.

"So what happens now?" demanded Nekomaru. "This Izuru guy's plan obviously didn't work, and we're not going anywhere with you. So what do you plan to do about it?"

"Well I don't know what the Future Foundation did to wipe your memories, but we do have a backup plan. Just a moment please."

He skipped over to one of the fallen Monokumandos laying on the ground. With his sharp claws, he started to pry the outer shell open.

"Hey, what the fuck are you trying to do?!" Fuyuhiko rushed over to him, followed by the others.

"Oh, you'll see." snickered Kaizokuma.

"Kaizo..."

"Paitience!"

before long, the black and white halves of the Monokumando's armor was split apart, and there was a huge collective gasp from the whole group.

Another group of infantry entered a dark room to find an empty motorized wheelchair. One of them sat down on it, started playing with the controls, and spun around on it with his arms raised up.

"Wheeee!" said Monokuma's voice coming from his helmet.

He was so amused by the spinning that he didn't noticed a shadowy figure dropping down from the ceiling and cutting up the other infantry with long blades. It waited until the last soldier was done spinning around before moving in for the kill.

Munakata led the others out of the boardroom to another location.

"Vice Chairman, what do we do now?" asked Mitarai.

"We need to find where Tengan went." said Munakata.

"But how are we going to find him in all this chaos?" asked Asahina.

Munakata pointed at the floor with his katana. They were a number of soldiers and Monokumas motionless laying on the floor riddled with flechettes.

"Follow the trail he left for us."

"Do we have to?" groaned Ruruka.

"Do you want to make it out of here alive?" asked Munakata.

Suddenly, there was a flash of red light. A blob of crimson plasma went right over Ruruka's head, singing the the tip of her knit cap. Large hulking figures were shooting at them with energy weapons.

"Everyone take cover!" said Munakata.

"We'll handle these." said Juzo. "So these are those new Monokuma robots the Remnants were working on."

Sonosuke led the rest of the group away while Munakata and Juzo went off to engage their new enemies. The Monokumandos unleashed a hail of plasma bolts from their Despair Cannons, but the Ultimate Student Council President and Ultimate Boxer proved too agile. Munakata sliced one Monokumando's Despair Cannon in half with his katana, forcing it to discard it and switch to a scythe with a red laser-blade shaped like Monokuma's eye. Not wishing to risk colliding with the laser, Munakata parried the shaft itself with his sword.

Meanwhile, Juzo was pummeling the other Monokumando with his fists. Despite not wearing any gloves and punching thick metal, Juzo was able to hold his own and keep striking blow after blow after blow. He was aiming for the shoulders, elbows, and anywhere else that looked vulnerable. It wasn't enough to destroy his target, but it was enough to disarm it and make it drop its Despair Cannon.

"Let's see how you like my Hurricane Fists of-!" Juzo shouted, when suddenly...

THUMP!

Juzo sank to his knees, his eyes streaming tears and shaking as the Monokumando kneed him in the groin.

"Low...blows." he groaned. "Not...again!"

Then the Monokumando punched him back ten feet and he slid on the floor. The mechanical super-soldier ran up to him and started pummeling his with his own metal fists.

"Sakakura!" Munakata yelled back as he was parrying yet another attack from the Monokumando with the laser scythe.

He sprang up and kicked off his opponent's torso to launch himself towards the Monokumando that was assaulting Juzo. He rolled forward and impaled the Monokumando through its pelvis. Munakata glared furiously with bloodshot eyes and said nothing at the machine as it started to crackle with red electricity. Juzo crawled away, and took the painkiller he got from Seiko earlier to help himself recover.

"Sakakura, all you all right?" asked Munakata.

"I've been worse, but..." Juzo groaned through the pain, when suddenly he let out a sharp gasp and his eyes widened.

"Munakata, behind you."

The Monokumando with the laser scythe was about to bisect Munakata from behind, and there was going to be no time for Munakata to get out of the way.

SWISH!

The Monokumando was bisected itself. A small figure stood behind it, silhouetted in the darkness and armed with blades. It was too short to be Sonosuke.

"Is that...Gekkogahara?" Juzo rubbed his eyes in disbelief.

It was indeed Miayabot, now standing up. Her wheelchair having apparently transformed into a sort of layer of armor for the android, her arms had become long thin metal blades, and metal coil-like tentacles were protruding from her back. Munakata kept his blade up in case she was poised to strike them next.

Nagito Komaeda stood there, watching as several Despair infantrymen pointed their guns at him. He had his hands up in case they planned to capture him. Suddenly, there was a loud roar behind them and a lean figure slashed through them all. It was Seiko. The men were all immobilized, but none of them were killed outright. They all writhed in pain on the floor or slipped into unconsciousness as she stood there with her enlarged claw-like hands soaked with their blood.

"You get away from my husband!" she growled at them, before turning to Nagito. "Are you all right, dear? I was worried I would be too late."

"Ah, Seiko." said Nagito. "I was wondering when something was going to happen to get me out of that mess."

"Well it pleases me to have been the one to save you." said Seiko, standing upright. In her enhanced state, she was practically the same height as Nagito. "I think you can consider us even from when you saved me before."

"That I can."

Seiko began sniffing.

"Tengan!"

Then there were footsteps behind them. Seiko turned around and crouched down.

"Hello, Mr. Komaeda. Ms. Kimura." said Tengan. "Fancy meeting you two here."

"Chairman Tengan, what you tried to do was unforgivable." said Seiko, with a quiet but angry voice. "I hope you understand that."

"Of course I do." said Tengan. "I don't like this any more than you do. These people were my students, my colleagues. If I didn't feel remorse for sending them to their deaths, I might as well have defected to the Remnants of Despair. And I understand how you and your husband felt about Yukizome. And what she was to Mr. Komaeda and his class. But you do realize that since she was a sleeper agent, she was a legitimate threat to the integrity of the Future Foundation and hope itself for as long as she lived."

Nagito bowed his head and frowned.

"You're not lying, I know that much." said Nagito. "But couldn't she have been rehabilitated in the Neo World Program like me and my classmates were? Makoto Naegi..."

"Ah, it was already too late by then. My plan was already in motion." said Tengan. "In fact, if we weren't in the middle of a war, I would've suggested the entire board do the same thing to help them purge their inner demons. But since Gekkogahara was already murdered and replaced by Miss Towa's automaton, it was too risky to put the rest of the board in such a delicate position, even if it was only one member at a time. And even then, doing so still wouldn't have gotten Mitarai to play his Hope video."

Seiko growled angrily, but Nagito told her to stay put. Seiko obeyed him, albeit reluctantly.

"Yukizome I understand then. But why target Naegi, or Bandai? Or Gozu?" Nagito continued. "Or even Seiko here? Aren't they the people you would want running the Future Foundation?"

"Yes, but they all had evidence that could be used against them. I deeply respect Mr. Naegi almost as much as you do, I truly do. But it would only be a matter of time before word got out that he deliberately harbored some of the people responsible for destroying the world. He had good intentions, but the rest of mankind would not see it that way. They would want you and your class to be punished for the evils they inflicted on this world, and see anyone who would protect them be treated in kind. Wouldn't it be better if he had died down here, where the knowledge of his alleged crime died with all of us?"

He sighed. A Monokuma robot charged towards him from behind, but Tengan casually raised his arm and shot it full of flechettes. Nagito stood there puzzled, ignoring the distant sounds of combat between the Final Killing Game survivors and the Remnants.

"Nagito, son. Would it really be any different than Naegi erasing all your memories of being part of Ultimate Despair? When you first came here, you only thought you were being interviewed to join the good fight. So..."

"No, Tengan." said Nagito. "I understand that what my classmates did was awful. In fact, I hate what they did. I truly do. But if my time at Hope's Peak Academy and in the Neo World Program taught me anything, it's that they're still my friends and I would do anything to help them shine as brightly as possible."

"That's very mature and well thought out for you, boy." said Tengan. "Much more than can be said about Munakata. Though I imagine neither of you are going to let me just walk away from all of this."

"Nope." said Nagito.

"Damn right we're not." snarled Seiko. "Not after all of this. You might've been able to take on Sakakura and Izayoi, but I've got more than enough Doping Corn Soup in me to take you down, old man."

Tengan sighed.

"I'm really sorry about this. I would hate to get in the way what could have been a happy marriage between two youngsters, but..."

Seiko leaped forward, and Tengan immediately raised his Chuusen. With lightning-fast reflexes he aimed it directly between Seiko's razor-sharp teeth. Nagito was shocked and felt genuinely worried Seiko was about to be killed.

CLICK!

Now it was Tengan's turn to look alarmed; Thanks to the intervention of the Monokuma robot from earlier, his Chuusen had finally run out of flechettes. In that brief period of time, Nagito went from shock to relief to joy that he finally got to witness his Ultimate Luck rub off on someone else.

Tengan was smacked against the wall, his arm bleeding heavily where Seiko slashed him. Despite this, he slowly staggered to his feet, blood dripping from his mouth and cheek due to the impact. His glasses were askew and the lenses were cracked. Seiko crawled forward, but hesitated.

"Well what are you waiting for?" he calmly told her. "You want to kill me? Then do it. You have every right to."

Seiko looked at him. A brief moment of pity flowed through her, even now.

"No?" Tengan questioned. He shook his head "Even now, you're too kind to even help put an old man out of his misery. How disappointing. Munakata would've finished the job."

Tengan detached his Chuusen and threw it directly at Seiko, who swiped it away with her hand. As she was distracted, Tengan quickly snatched up two FAMAE SAF submachine guns from the wounded infantrymen lying on the ground, and cocked them. Nagito panicked and hurried to grab a gun himself. He had just grabbed a Glock 17 and pointed it at Tengan when...

BANG!

Tengan stumbled forward as a bullet hit him in the back, but he didn't fall to the ground. He slowly, painfully turned his head to look behind him. It was yet another Remnant infantryman, holding up a hunting rifle. More were coming, all armed with melee weapons. They also heard the revving of what was unmistakably a chainsaw.

"It's up...to you two...now." said Tengan, wheezing and gasping for air as he turned to look at Nagito and Seiko one last time. "Don't let the world fall to despair. Don't let...them...win."

Nagito and Seiko watched in horror as the infantrymen dragged Tengan away. Since he was the chairman of the Future Foundation, he was the number one target on their list. So they forgotten all about Nagito and Seiko, and focused on him instead. Tengan struggled to fight back as fiercely as he could. Human and Monokuma alike were clawing at him, ripping his coat apart and sending blood gushing out wherever they struck or clawed him. Seiko was poised to leap forward and attack, but the Remnants of Despair surrounded Tengan, blocking him from view. Then the revving became louder and louder, and the blade of a chainsaw appeared above their heads. Then a fountain of blood spraying all over the whole scene, and a scream of agony echoed down the hall. All Nagito and Seiko could do was flee before the Remnants went after them next.

Aboard the Monosub, the despair-ridden crew were cheering and jeering as they watched the video feed of Tengan's brutal execution. Not only was the hidden bastion of their mortal enemies being besieged once and for all, and all it took was a signal they picked up for it to happen, but their greatest enemy of all was about to meet his gruesome end. But they couldn't just attack from this front alone, so a submersible was detached the main vessel and dispatched from the surface to attack the tower on land. Two submersibles still remained attached to the vessel.

Two infantrymen stood at the back while the rest of the crew jeered on. They nodded to each other. One of them went through the umbilical into the underwater facility, while the other went below deck.

Hagakure was cowering behind a rock, looking up at the helicopter circling around Future Foundation HQ.

"Man, things could not get any worse than they are right now." said Hagakure. "I'm sure of it."

Suddenly, he heard a large splash. A massive humped shape rose from the dark depths of the Pacific Ocean. It was either a whale or a submarine.

"What the...?" said Hagakure.

The humped shape came closer, and a hatch opened up. A dozen black figures with red glints on their faces emerged, all armed to the teeth.

"Oh, hell." he groaned.
