His face was a washed out. A dull shade of pink. He looked as though he he had been in battle, but with whom, or with what?
"You will be okay."
I placed my hands upon his chest. I focused my power and closed my eyes. Even though my eyes were closed, I could see the wounds healing. His color returned and he began to breathe.
"What is this place?"
"There is no need to be frightened. I am J'onn J'onnz, and this is my niece, M'gann."
"You are martians."
"Yes. We escaped our home planet after the White Martian Clan destroyed it."
The Lantern stood on his feet. He seemed a bit disoriented, but he quickly caught his composure.
"Why were you out in space?" asked M'gann, curiously.
"You spoke of White Martians? I was attacked one such being."
"You must have fought bravely to still be alive." I complimented.
"I don't remember much about a fight, but I remember pleading with him to not kill me."
"A Lantern? Plead?"
"Yes. Unfortunately I was unable to find the strength within me to fight."
"Then what happened?" I asked.
"I was stabbed. Pierced in my side by a sharp object attached to the White Martian's arm."
I had a feeling that I knew who he spoke of. The White Martian was more than likely A-Moral. Out of all the White Martians he may have been the most ruthless.
"Were there others?"
"There were." he answered "One was tall and muscular. The other was around your size, but he was not white."
I knew in my mind without a doubt who the two were. A'monn A'mokk and my brother, Ma'alefa'ak. Somehow they have gotten ahead of us, and for some reason they attacked a member of the Green Lantern Corps. I needed to get all the information I could from this Lantern. Where did they go? Why did they attack? My thoughts were interrupted however. A crash came from outside, making the ship rock.
"It is them."
"Are you certain?"
Before I could answer truthfully, something pierced the ceiling above our heads. We looked up and there stood A-Mortal and A'monn A'mokk.
"M'gann, hide!" I commanded, before flying up to face the two enemies "I demand you leave this ship."
"You demand us?" laughed A-Mortal, his blade pointing at my throat "You are no position to make demands."
I soon felt pressure around my abdomen. A'mokk had grabbed me from behind and has now entrapped me in his grip. A-Mortal brought his blade up over my head and smiled a menacing, bloodcurdling smile.
"Ma'alefa'ak will be pleased."
I could feel my body being squeezed tightly. My breath was about to leave my body. But before the blade could strike me a green barrier shot up before me. The Lantern flew up and knocked A-Mortal off balance. I broke free from A'mokk's grasp and threw him to the side. I stared at the Lantern who had just rescued me.
"Thank you..."
"Abin Sur."
We smiled for a moment, but then a spacecraft hovered over our heads. I knew that it was none other than Ma'alefa'ak.
"Here."
The Lantern removed his ring and handed it to me.
"Take care of this." he said "Head for Earth. Search for the one named Hal Jordan."
After giving me the orders, I clenched the ring and went back into the ship. I guided us away from the Ma'alefa'ak, leaving Abin Sur behind.
"I wonder if we will see him again." said M'gann.
"He is a Lantern. A defender of peace. A light in the dark. I'm sure of it."
I stared at the vitals, the ship had been damaged in the squirmish. I needed to find somewhere to land before arriving to the place known as Earth.
"Earth?"
I stared at the ring. I heard tales of Earth from others. It sounded like the perfect place to call home.
