Author's Note: I realise that I am ridiculously late discovering WaT. I had young children when it first aired and somehow missed it. I have just watched all 7 seasons and loved it (except the ending; CBS really suck!). So, if anyone reads this, I would love some reviews.
Set during season 4, before Fallout. When Jack goes missing, will the team be able to find out who's responsible before it's too late.
AU; no Anne and definitely no Brian (aka the 2-dimensional unbelievable plot device). J/S all the way
I don't own WaT - I would have treated them so much better!/p
Prologue
When Dr Harris had told Jack that she wanted him to set himself a goal for improving his personal life that didn't involve his daughters, he had looked bleakly at her and promised to think about it. Since his divorce and the accompanying custody battle, Jack Malone had thrown himself into his work, ignoring everything else. That decision had been made easier by the fact that Sam Spade, the woman that he loved, had moved on and was seeing Martin Fitzgerald.
For several weeks he stonewalled Dr Harris, saying that he was too busy but then he started noticing small things:
Sam looking guiltily at Martin
Martin being bad tempered and avoiding looking at Sam
Sam staying in the office for several hours after Martin had left
Martin and Danny doing things together at the weekends and not including Sam
Quietly and carefully, Jack used his investigative skills to confirm what he suspected; Sam and Martin had broken up.
Sitting on the couch at home that night, Jack thought for a long time before realising that it was really quite simple; he wanted Sam back and he wanted to have a relationship with her. The complicated part was going to be making it happen.
