Once at Cairo, Evelyn went to the hotel with Alex. Getting a room for them. " Your father and uncle will also have their own rooms once done with, whatever it is they are doing." She explained. "This Sam is bad, huh?" Alex looked at her. "Seems so. He most likely set your uncle up on purpose. To revive Rugnak for some reason. We don't know why yet." She frowned, sitting down.
"Alex. I know, things may be a bit scary right now. But I promise. I won't let anything happen to you. " She said, looking him in the eye. "I know mum. By the way, since when does Uncle Johnathan know Greek?" He asked. Evelyn looked at him confused. "What, are you talking about?" She asked.
"Last night. I heard him talking to that Beni guy about Greek gold. And showed him a coin. Then showed him a necklace and said some weird Greek words. I'm pretty sure one of them was Pneuma?" Alex explained, causing Evelyn's eyes to widen.
Meanwhile in a bar.
A young woman with deep tan skin and eyes so dark they nearly looked black, sat at the counter. "That's Sam's contact?" Rick asked Jonathan. Jonathan nodded. "She is the one who gave me the info." Jonathan stated. "Well then. Let's ask her a few questions." Rick walked up to the woman.
"Ah, hello miss. We need to speak with you for a moment." He smiled, figuring being nice may get him further than being aggressive. The woman looked at him. "Who are you?" She asked.
"My name is Rick O'Connell. And I am friends with Jonathan Carnahan. Your, eh, boss? Sam, sent him on a dig recently." Rick began. "Ah. So what's the matter? The site was empty or something?" She asked.
"Oh no. There definitely was stuff there. It's just. One of the mummies, well." Rick tried to figure out how to phrase it. "If you wish to speak with Sam. I am sorry. He left Egypt yesterday morning." She stated, finishing her drink.
"You absolutely sure about that?" Jonathan spoke up. She glanced at him and nodded. "Damnit." Rick sighed getting to his feet. Once outside he went to Ardith who was watching over the horses.
"Bad news. Sam left Egypt yesterday morning." Rick told him. Ardith narrowed his eyes. "Proof he knew what the tomb held. However. Also means. He is not Rugnak. But someone else is. Since Rugnak must be in Egypt right now." He looked at the hotel.
"Let's get back. I think it's best if you and your family return to England." He said. "Ah?" Rick asked. " The scroll. According to it the ritual must be done in the night of a new moon. That is three nights from now. I feel, we will all be safer if none of you are in Egypt." He said.
"What is that supposed to mean? Wait. Ardith. Do you know who Rugnak is?" Rick grabbed him by his arm. Forcing him to look him in the eye. "I am not positive. But I fear I know who it is. I pray that I am wrong. And if, I am right. Perhaps it can be stopped without having to shed any blood. But that requires you guys to head home." Ardith explained.
"Why would it concern us?" Rick questioned. "Uhm guys. Jonathan ran off." A voice spoke up. Rick turned to Beni who spoke, noticing Jonathan was gone. Realization slowly set in. "No, not him..." Rick looked at Ardith, who nodded with a grim face.
Back at the hotel.
Evelyn laid in bed appearing asleep. Her breath soft, the lights off, and her eyes closed. The door to the room slowly creaked open, and a figure walked in. The figure looked around and began looking through her bags. "To psáchneis aderfé?" Evelyn spoke up, speaking her best Greek as she held the scroll, turning the lamp by her bed on. "O óchi." Jonathan replied in better Greek. He slowly stood up, and looked as if he were about to lunge for the scroll, when the door slammed open. Ardith Rick and Beni stood there.
"It is as I feared. Rugnak has been reborn." Ardith spoke. Jonathan laughed nervously. "What are you talking about. I'm Jonathan, not Rugnak. Tell them Eve. Tell them I'm your brother." He looked at Evelyn.
"You may look, and sound like him. But my brother didn't know Greek. Nor would he be rummaging through my undergarments." She glared. "Is Jonathan still in there, or did you fully take over, Rugnak?" She asked, causing his smile to fade.
