"So what is the plan?" Rick looked at Ardith. "You guys go home. It is for the best. The only way for this to end is if Rugnak dies. Even though it is not Jonathan anymore. It is best Evelyn and Alex are not here for that." Ardith explained. Evelyn looked at him, then glanced at Alex. She agreed on one thing. Alex should not be there. If Rugnak succeeded in freeing himself. He may destroy all of Egypt. And if Alex was here when that happened, he too may get hurt or killed.
But at the same time. She could not leave. She did not want to run away until she was positive Jonathan was gone. And there was no saving him. He may be annoying at times. But he was her brother. And had been there in the past when she needed him. She could not abandon him, if any part of him was still alive. Glancing at Keres she began to form a plan.
"As for me and my men. We will see if we can at the very least locate and captrue Rugnak until the time is up. In three nights time. He will die if he fails. That is the only option we have right now." Ardith added, sending a note to his men, via his falcon. "You say the Bident would work?" Rick spoke up. "May work. It may work. But we do not know its location." The librarian stated.
"Well. That Sam guy seems to know the location of everything. I say, we pay that olady a visit. And see if she may know anything. Sure, Sam ran away. But she still is here. And is one of his main contacts. So, she may know where to find it." Rick smirked. "Even if she does. Why would she tell us? It is clear Sam wanted Rugnak to be free. So, his workers probably also would do anything to keep Rugnak from dying as well." Ardith replied.
"Maybe. But what if she is not in on it? She may just be his errond girl and not even know his grand plans. Just know where things are. It is worth a shot." Rick stated, going to the door. "I am going to the bar to ask her. You can come or not. Evelyn. You get Alex ready to go home to England. You two will go home. I will stay here and help Ardith." He added, leaving before Ardith or her could object.
Ardith sighed, knowing Rick was too stubborn to talk down. And followed him. "You two better be on your way back to London by the time me and Rick are done interogatting Sam's partner. Got it?" Ardith stated firmly, looking at Evelyn and Alex, before leaving. The moment he was gone Evelyn grabbed Alex by his hand, and Beni by his. "Eh, what is going on?" Beni asked confused. "I am taking my son to the train station to ensure he is sent home to London. I will send a telegram to the museum there to pick him up and watch over him. I have a few friends there." She explained, leading them to the train station.
"That explains the kid. Byt why are you dragging me with you?" Beni questioned. "Because i am staying here. And you are taking me to Rugnak.:" She replied calmly. Both Alex and Beni tried to protest, but she would have none of it. Once the ticket was bought, and she had one of the train workers promise to watch over Alex. She kissed her son on his forehead.
"You know both your father and I love you. We will be back. I promise. But, i need to stay here and deal with your uncle. Be a good boy. And please. Go home. If anything happened to you, I would never forgive myself." She explained. Alex frowned, but nodded. "Fine mum..." He sighed, as he watched her leave the station once the train started, and he sat down for the long ride home.
"As for you. You are taking me to Rugnak." Evelyn looked at Beni/ Keres. "As if." He replied, causing her to slap him. "I am not betraying my brother by bringing you to him." He said, rubbing his cheek. "I won't hurt him. I just need to talk to him. You are Keres, Rugnak's brother right? You understand the bonds siblings have. Jonathan is my brother. I want to see him one more time. Please. Just take me to him. I will not hurt him, nor tell the others where he is. I just want to see him one last time." She said, practically begging.
He frowned, then looked at the sky as if praying to a god before agreeing. "Fine. But no tricks. No hurting him. No stalling him. No trying to stop him." He replied, and she nodded. "I am not positive. But I suspect, he may be where it all began." He said, leading her out of the city. "And where is that?" She asked. "I do not know if it still stands. But a temple. It is where Rugnak was arrested." He explained.
