Arriving at the bar, Rick looked around for the woman. And saw her making her way upstairs. Quickly he followed, with Ardith close behind. He slammed the door open to the room she entered, and was surprised by what he saw.
The woman was packing several bags. And on a bed in the small room was a very large black two pronged pitchfork like weapon. "Hades' Bident." He realized. Quickly she lunged for it, rolling off the bed landing on her feet, aiming the top of the weapon at his throat.
"Seems you were right to come here after all O'Connell." Ardith said, aiming his sword at the woman. "Though am curious why you would have this weapon." He added. "It is needed to ensure Rugnak's return is not stopped." She responded.
"Of course. Now I understand. Sam never left Egypt." Ardith narrowed his dark eyes. Rick looked at him confused. "The reason no one ever sees Sam. It's because he is not a man is he? You are Sam." Ardith added. "Heh. You are the first to realize it. Pretty smart, for a man." She smiled.
"Whoa woah, so this bitch is the one who ruined everything? Thanks to you Egypt may get destroyed. And you ruined my wife's family! She lost her brother. And we almost lost our son to that bastard!" Rick yelled, reaching for his gun.
"Jonathan is not dead. He and Rugnak are the same. So don't act like your wife lost her brother. And I doubt he would have harmed the kid. Rugnak is no fool." She explained.
"Bullshit. If he was so smart, he would not have killed the princess. Or at the very least would have ran instead of allowing himself to get caught!" Rick glared.
"I may not know Jonathan as well as his sister did. But, I know he is no monster. He was, a bit of a coward at times. And a liar."-"And thief. We first met when he stole from me." Rick interrupted, causing Ardith to nod. "But he was no murderer. He may, technically be part of Rugnak. But he is nothing like him when it comes to his morals. If any part of Jonathan is alive. He would not want us to let that thing, harm his family and destroy Egypt." Ardith explained. "So you can live with yourself if you kill him? Even though they are one and the same. Killing Rugnak kills him." She smiled.
Rick sighed. Knowing no matter how this ends. Jonathan dies. And Evelyn would be heartbroken. "How can you be so certain Rugnak did as he was accused? As you said. Unless he was an idiot. Why kill the princess if he merely was using her as a ransom? And why stay by her body long enough for the Magi to arrest him? Only a complete idiot would do that. What if something else happened?" She suddenly asked, causing the two to look at her in surprise.
"Are you trying to suggest Rugnak was innocent?" Ardith asked." My dear Magi. History is written by the winners. Rugnak and Keres were the losers of their time. So history looks down on them. What makes you so certain, they were the monsters history claims they are?" She asked, keeping the Bident aimed at Rick's neck. The black metal burning his skin slightly.
"Yeah. And what makes you so certain Rugnak is not a threat? No matter what the truth was. No man should possess such powers. And if somehow, he was an innocent as you seem to think. That makes him all the more dangerous. Since he would want revenge for his mistreatment." Ardith replied calmly. "How can you judge him so quickly? " She asked. "How can you be so sure of his innocence? Not like you were there yourself. Unless you are also a reincarnation. Or secretly an ancient hag." Rick smirked.
She glared, and pulled the Bedent away from him. "You want this weapon? Fine. Take it. Kill Rugnak, if you can. But do not come crying to me when you regret your choices." She tossed the weapon to Ardith's feet. Ardith picked it up, wondering if this was some form of trap. Why give him the weapon now, when she clearly did not want Rugnak dead.
"We will come back for you later, when this is all dealt with." Rick glared at her, looking at Ardith. "Now we just got to find Rugnak." Ardith nodded, and left with him and the Bident. Sam watched, smirking. It was clear she knew something they did not.
