A/N: Did someone ask for a fluffernutter sandwich? Order up!
Xoxo
"You can't just mow over them, Walter! They're special!"
"They're weeds, Paige." He shot back impatiently, as Paige picked one of the dandelions growing rampantly throughout their yard. Days like today, having to mow this yard, he regretted them buying a house in the suburbs. You didn't need to mow concrete.
"They're not just weeds! They're magical wishing flowers! If you mow over them, that wish is gone forever, Walter! Lost to the magical abyss of wishes that can never come to be. You can't just throw away magic all willy nilly." Holding out the fluffy dandelion to him, she smirked.
"Wishes. Right… or… they're an invasive weed, and the notion of a weed holding some intrinsic magical power to grant wishes, is foolish and juvenile." This lawn maintenance was already tedious and entirely too time consuming. He didn't have the patience for this childish behavior.
"Fine. Be that way. But, I'm just saying, I wished for you on a wish flower, and that came true..." Kissing his cheek, she sauntered off back to the house, leaving him to his yard chores, and to stare after her as she went.
Maybe he was the foolish one. It was nothing short of magic that led that woman to be at his side…
Later that night, as Paige was getting ready for bed, she smiled at an unfamiliar object sitting atop her bedside table, along with a little note.
So the magic will never run out.
Perfectly preserved in an upside down glass jar, was none other than one of the dandelion flowers, its fluffy pappus seeds on full display, hermetically sealed within the jar. It appeared that a long wire was glued to the inside of the lid of the jar, with the hollow stem placed over it to hold it erect, and the jar then sealed. Carefully spinning it around, she couldn't help the warmth that came over her. Sometimes her husband could be a real Debbie Downer, but, sometimes, like this one, he showed her that there was still a heart beneath that rough surface.
Showed her that making childish wishes on magical wishing flowers could lead to the most beautiful things.
Like falling in love with, and being loved by, Walter O'Brien.
