She slipped in and out of consciousness over the next few days. Her muscles felt weak, and she was still nauseous. The worst part, besides the continued pain, was sleeping so much but waking up fatigued. Edward made sure she drank and ate and took care of her in a way nobody ever had before.

"Chew on this" Something salty hit her tongue. Her eyes popped open in surprise. "Swallow then I'll tell you what it is."

"It's kind of briny." It wasn't a bad taste, just different.

"It's sea urchin." He'd been smart to make her swallow first. "It has great nutritional value."

"How'd you get it? Are you hurt?" He looked fine, in fact, he had a large smile on his face.

"I used the knife. It took a few tries, but there were two on the rock, just under the water. Here, have another piece." She examined the ginger colored meat, but ate it greedily.

"How did you know you could eat it?" She never would've thought there was something edible inside. She was so appreciative he'd caught it.

"I had some in New Zealand."

"I hope I just ate the one that got me." She'd been serious, but it was hard to keep a straight face when he was laughing so hard. His laugh was contagious and she couldn't help but join in.

The pain slowly started to subside over the following days. A diet of sea urchin and fish probably helped. She certainly did not miss the chocolate bars. Edward agreed that he didn't plan on having any chocolate bars for a long time once they were saved.

"Wait, you're going to the University of Tampa in the fall?" He shrugged, confused.

"I thought I told you that already. They have a good marine biology program."

"I'm going to the University of South Florida in Tampa." Both smiled as that information sunk in. "We'll remain friends after this, right?" She felt like she knew him better than anyone she'd ever met. She'd struggled to make friends with all the moving she did growing up and even the friends she'd made in Forks seemed superficial.

"You not sick of me yet?" He teased.

"Never."
