Author's Note: In this alternate universe, Scourge is a decent guy. I know, shockin', right? Hope you all like the concept and this pairing. God Jehovah bless.
Amy x Scourge
Amy Rose walked through town one rainy day, the sky and land looking as she felt a bit on the inside. She was inwardly weeping when she recalled an invitation to a wedding to Sonic and Princess Sally in several months.
The pink hedgehog, prior to this engagement, had made self-improvements to be a more mature girl with self-control over her affections so to make Sonic proud of her and maybe finally have his attention.
However, what she didn't count on as the long history of his relationship with the princess chipmunk whom she knew she couldn't compete with, great leadership skills and techno-savvy, not to mention the looks of a princess.
Amy looked at herself in a shop's window at her (in her new opinion) okay-looks as she thought of her common background and talents in swinging a large mallet and in cooking.
The last one would have won any man, but not the one she had had her eyes on for a long time. Not everyone's Blue Wonder. She sighed to herself, wondering if she had learned to grow up sooner, she would have changed his mind.
She thought of the wedding invitation she had received almost a week ago, the invitation she hadn't responded to and wouldn't.
She knew Sonic wanted her as someone he cared about as a friend whom he was proud of for her better behavior to attend. It would disappoint him when he won't see her present.
Still, it was too painful, sitting and watching losing her hero forever. No, and she wasn't going to reply no in a letter because she didn't want Sonic or anyone else to convince her to go.
For a second, she actually detested him for not bothering to think how it would have made her feel about him marrying another girl. She sighed again when she told herself it was probably because her new character made him think she had chosen to get over him.
She stopped being mad at him and apologized to him in her mind, but she wasn't going and that was that. All she wanted was to grief for a while before figuring out where her life would go from here.
Honestly, she didn't want to see anyone ever again. All her other friends would just remind her of Sonic and all the adventures they had together. Plus, hearing them being happy for him and Sally would just tear her apart constantly.
She felt remorseful for doing this to them, too, but she couldn't help it. She wanted to heal and Sonic and the gang's faces would just rub salt in her emotional wounds.
However, she pointed out to herself that she was all alone now, not a friend in the world. A part of her kind of wanted it to rain forever. Sunny and blue skies would just hurt her.
She stopped thinking of anything. She just walked on the sidewalk, listening to the splashes of the puddles in her wake. Tears had finally fallen from her eyes and blended in with the puddles underneath her. She was grateful for the rain hiding her tears.
Without thinking about it, she looked at another shop's window to look at her reflection. Her eyes looked dead from the heartache and forlornity before she blinked in confusion when she saw something green behind her reflection.
Not only green, but the eyes were ice blue and the person's chest were scarred and his back was wearing a leather jacket.
Knowing she wasn't alone, she looked over her left shoulder at the stranger who grinned at the Sakura-furred hedgehog who thought he looked a bit like Sonic but with reversed colors between his fur and eyes.
His green head held a pair of sunglasses he touched with his right hand as if he was tipping to her like a hat as he kept grinning at Amy who wondered who he was and what he was thinking.
"Hope you're not afraid or anythin'," he spoke, "but I couldn't help noticin' you look very low."
"Ah, was it that obvious?" she asked with a small grin.
"Painfully. I know I'm a stranger, but you want to grab somethin' hot at the diner 'round the corner?" he offered, indicating the direction he said with his right thumb.
She didn't know what he was getting at. She guessed either he was just being decent, or he was actually… picking her up. She wasn't trying to flatter herself. She had done that with Sonic and that embarrassed her too many times.
Frankly, the thought of having something warm to help these chilly, wet legs sounded appealing. "Why not?"
"Cool. Name's Scourge."
"Amy Rose."
Scourge paid for the food for both of them. Amy thanked him but declined at first because she didn't feel right about it. He insisted, so she gave in.
Feeling rather better for the hot meal, she conversed with Scourge who leaned his right elbow on the counter, sitting in a position like the way Sonic would in a seat.
She told herself not to give him attention because of whom he reminded her of. In fact, as much as it made her feel bad, she wanted to forget about Sonic, Sally and everything else as she got to know the green hedgehog.
From what she knew, he could run fast himself though he preferred his motorbike; he enjoyed chili fries; he loved traveling.
Amy felt rather lighter talking to Scourge. In fact, she kept seeing him for the next several days. She didn't even mind the clear, beautiful weather anymore. Sometimes, he would take her for a ride with him in his amazing Harley that was black with hot rod green flames.
The rush on his ride felt even more thrilling than with Sonic on his feet. One late morning, he took her to a spot in a field where he had set up a picnic basket.
She brought dessert to go with their lunch. They savored every bite and sip as they discussed the royal wedding of Mobius's two finest.
"So, ya goin'?" he asked, "If ya are, I could go with ya."
"Thank you, but I'm not going. Truth be told, I haven't spoken to them or any of my other friends for days. As much as it makes me feel guilty, I sort of want to forget what I used to feel about Sonic."
She told Scourge about her old feelings for Sonic whose main interest was Princess Sally.
"I know that makes me sound selfish, but I just want to move on without anything reminding me of the past."
"Hey, if goin' is gonna hurt ya, then don't go." Scourge sat with his left wrist on his bent knee as he added, "Ya know, if my opinion counts, I think you're tough lettin' go of old feelings and movin' on."
"Thank you," she said sincerely. "Actually, you have something to do with it. You've helped me get my mind off it."
The green biker grinned as he slipped his shades on his eyes. "Glad to do it."
Amy smiled modestly as she looked away from how cool he looked. His character matched well enough with his appearance.
"Hold still, Pink," he instructed calmly, a simple nickname he had for her. He carefully leaned forward, reaching his right hand to wipe the spot frosting that had gotten on her left cheek from the cupcakes. "Ya got icin' on your face."
She looked at her lap as she smiled bashfully, thanking him again. Scourge smirked as he licked the remnants off from his finger, looking cool even doing that.

A short time went by, and Amy had decided to move away to start over completely. She of course informed Scourge. He supported her objective and after she had found a decent place, he even helped her pack her stuff in and out of the moving van.
They had a housewarming party alone together in the backyard patio, making a toast for new beginnings.
"Well, Pink, what's life gonna take ya from here?" Scourge asked, leaning his right arm over the back of his seat, swirling the drink in his glass, his shades on.
"It'll come to me. I hope I'll be pleasantly surprised," she answered, rubbing her left index finger around the brim of her glass.
"Well, just give me a call if ya need help broadenin' your horizons," he suggested, slightly lifting his sunglasses.
His grin made her look at her modest reflection in her drink. "I will when you're not too busy."
She blinked at herself in surprise when she felt her right hand on the table touched by a reaching left hand that tenderly stroked its thumb on her fingers.
"Ah, I got all the free time in the world."
Amy kept her composure, though she couldn't stop her facing from blushing and as a result, she kept her face down to her glass as she mildly breathed her reply, "Okay."
