Dear Diary,

I am the awesomest girlfriend in the entire universe.

It took me a while to believe that, given who and what have defined my worth in the past. But, I know I am more than enough, for Luz and my own endeavors.

Luz caught the common mold, so Gus, Willow, and I went over to the Owl House to take care of her. We have no clue where she picked it up from, or how her body decided that a virus that originated outside of the Human Realm was worth attacking. Either way, we knew it was gonna hit her hard, so we wanted to go help make her feel better.

When we got there, Eda seemed preoccupied, so I decided to rally everyone together to help make Luz as comfy as possible. I got Eda and Hooty to lock down the house, Willow on soup duty (she knows a killer sinseng griffin chicken soup recipe, cures anyone in a day), and Gus and King to find some stuff that would give Luz something to enjoy while she recovered. Everything seemed fine until Gus came back upstairs and said that Eda was still down in the basement.

I went to go investigate and get her back to work, and found her screaming to some ancient "exercise video". She told me that she was trying to get her new harpy form to come out on command, saying something about her inner beast. It definitely was not the time for her to be goofing around, so I practically dragged her to Luz's room, where we found her in a state of delirium. She was pretending she had snakes for arms and just about to eat the portal key thinking that she would be able to get home if she did. I had a mini abomination that I summoned to watch over her to give the key to me for safe keeping, leading Luz to send some weirdly coded message on the little cat texter she gave me in defeat. I had no idea what she meant, so I chalked it up to her just being silly and just told her "you got it!". She gave me this puzzled look, almost as if there was actual meaning behind the message.

I shook that off and left, to find Willow, Gus, and King in the hall, coming up to check on her. Willow said that it's a bit weird to have me so close to everyone, especially her. I told her that I had to agree, but that today was the chance to show Luz that I am an awesome girlfriend, despite the fact that I tried to get her dissected a few months ago, among other thing.

But hey, bygones are bygones, right?

Suddenly, we heard a yelp from Luz's room, and Eda and I ran in to find a new diary entry being shown by the Echo Mouse. It was about Philip finding the Titan's Blood that got him to the Demon Realm at this place called Eclipse Lake, which looked like it was somewhere just south of the Knee. She instantly sprung up, trying to make her way there in her sickly state. It took all of us (and a rope) to eventually restrain her enough to tell her that King and Eda would go out in search of it. I volunteered to go with them on girlfriend duty, with Eda cutting me off and just telling me to grab my coat.

We began our trek, and we were soon met by a bunch of Coven Scouts. The only reason that we imagined they were there for was to get some of the blood for Emperor Belos. We didn't know why he needed it, but we knew its power, so it had to be for something important. I knew we had to push on, Luz was counting on me. Well, us. She was counting on us.

Suddenly, we were ambushed by what we thought was a Coven Scout, but upon further inspection, was revealed to actually be the Golden Guard. We had no idea why he was dressed as a common scout, as he always had a different uniform than them. He also looked a lot scrawnier than I imagined. Not that I ever fawn over men, but I always thought he'd be this tall, buff guy with rippling muscles. But, he just looks like an average teen, like someone who could be my classmate. We decided to take him captive, in case he decided to pull something on us. Well, Eda did, but I just tied him up in an abomination-based bind.

We eventually made it into the cave, thanks to Eda jumping through it while pretending she was a harpy. I don't know how badly that had to hurt her, but she seemed fine enough. As we were walking, the Golden Guard tried to convince me to put my staff down, but there's no way in hell I would ever trust him enough to do something like that. We soon got to these tools that looked almost as old as the Titan, and Hunter started going on about how ancient witches would mine the veins for Titan's Blood, but I quickly shut him up.

King was up on this drill looking thing, and Eda told him to activate it so that her harpy mode would come out. What we didn't know was that the cave actually reflected magic, and I had to catch the orb of energy that was bouncing off the walls and heading in our direction. We continued our way down after King tried to echolocate the end of the cave using his new sonic scream, and Eda began telling me about how Luz once met the Golden Guard in Latissa. Eda called him a beat-up blond with absolutely no magic, and said that Luz called him "a bad but sad boy". The Golden Guard took offense to that, and was about to say something about getting back at Luz is he saw her again before I quickly told him to watch himself. He then insulted Eda and King, causing him to launch himself onto the Guard, yanking at his hair until we were stopped by the commotion we were approaching.

We found where the rest of the Coven Scouts ended up, they were led further into mines by Kikimora and some abomatons. After listening to Kikimora go on some rambling rant about getting the blood, Eda hijacked the Golden Guard's idea of trying to create a distraction, leaving him and I alone while she and King went to get us a way through the cave. He tried saying that we could take the blood for ourselves, like we were some sort of team. I told him we were nothing like that, but he fired back that we both had something at stake in this. I tried to tell him that he had no idea what the stakes were for me, but I was interrupted by some texts from Luz. He ended up seeing my texter, and saying that what she sent me didn't look good. I instantly yelled at him to get back, but I asked him what about the messages didn't look good. He started saying it looked like she was telling me to come back with results or else... well, we didn't know what else. All he implied was that it didn't look good. I told him that Luz would never do that, I knew her better than he did, and I said that I'm an awesome girlfriend to her. He asked me if she had ever actually said that to me, which she hadn't, I think because we're still so new. She's shown her appreciation for me otherwise, but I don't think she's ever said it just like that.

Damn, the Golden Guard is the king of the low blow.

I started to get into my feelings about it, especially when he said that we both had people that we couldn't disappoint. I know I had to pull myself out of it, and King and Eda were taking too long to make a plan, so I decided to just randomly launch some magic at the ceiling of the cave, hoping that it wouldn't hit any of us. We quickly met back up with the rest of the party, and I tried to get us to make a break to the cave while the Coven Scouts and Kikimora were distracted.

We got deeper into the cavern, and we came across these blue orbs that looked like the blood, but we weren't as deep as the map said they would be. The Golden Guard tried to tell us that they were actually orbs of fool's blood, but Eda didn't trust that he wouldn't try to hoard the real Titan's Blood for himself. Eda decided to crack an orb open, which let some of the blood drip onto the ground. This caused a rift to open up, swallowing King and Eda into it. I went to go rescue them, but the Golden Guard held me back and pleaded with me to untie him. I knew that he was scared of getting caught by Kikimora, so I decided to be nice and let him go, but he repaid the favor by shoving me down and ditching me to hop into a minecart and travel further down into the cave.

By the time I processed what happened and got up from the ground, I was greeted by Kikimora and a captain of the scouts. The captain asked what to do, but Kikimora left her to her own devices so that she could chase after the Golden Guard. She decided to throw me down into the rift. I ended up with King and Eda, who were hanging on to an immobilized Owlbert. With my added weight, he began to crack, so King suggested that Eda bring her harpy form out. She said that she still had no idea how to, until Kind suggested she just talk to it instead of trying to force or scare it out. She realized she never tried that, and was soon able to fly us out of the hole.

We ended up flying into a gnarly crash scene, all of the minecarts had collided into each other, and everyone was worse for the wear, all except the captain that threw me down into the hole. Eda stayed behind to fight her, leaving King and I to fly on Ghost to the end of the cave. We ended up finding a resigned Golden Guard digging a hole in the ground. He revealed that he was doing this to get the blood because Belos didn't have it through the key anymore, and that this was a chance to make up the mission in Latissa to him.

I had no clue why the key meant so much to him, or what it meant to us, aside from it being something to help Luz get back to the Human Realm.

He asked me if I wanted a grave of my own, and I almost said yes, until King asked me what the Golden Guard was talking about. I showed him the text messages from Luz, and it took him turning the texter to its side to show me what the messages really meant. She was telling me that I was rad, and she warned me about the fool's blood and said to come home. I knew Luz wasn't saying anything malicious, it's just not in her nature to do that intentionally.

Against my better judgement, I decided to let the Golden Guard know that he was right earlier, that we actually did have a lot in common. That we both grew up thinking that whatever we had to do for others was just something to justify our existence. That there were people in our lives that wouldn't make us feel worthless, and that we just had to let ourselves meet them.

But, he wasn't focused on my attempted dose of positivity, only the portal key that he noticed was adorning my neck.

He lunged at it, but I was able to dodge him quickly. I was able to tie him up, but he made a few escape attempts before eventually succeeding. He fired a few energy blasts in the air, and Ghost helped me dodge them. He ended up behind me, but King tackled him right to the ground before he knocked King off. The Golden Guard started to launch some attacks at me again, but I ended up jabbing him with my staff before punching him with an abomination spiked gauntlet and summoning this huge abomination that swallowed him whole. I was able to put some distance between us by flying away on Ghost, grabbing King along the way. However, the Golden Guard soon managed to escape by going underground, and punched us with a stone fist, sending us off course and launching us into the air. I wasn't able to help King, who landed with his horns lodged in one of the Titan's vein, while I was able to cushion my landing using some of my goo. The Golden Guard appeared suddenly behind me again, and yelled at me to help him by giving him his key before using his staff to yank it off of my neck. I was able to catch it, but we locked each other to the walls of the cave, his staff to my neck and an abomination spike of mine to his.

He admitted that he was tired, and that if we were gonna continue to fight, that I would probably beat him. But, in the spirit of delivering the lowest of blows, he used one of my only vices against me- Luz.

I knew what I had to do to keep her safe, so I just relinquished the key, grabbing it so that the eye of the key cracked, in hopes that the Titan's Blood would leak out. He thanked me, and flew out, leaving King struggling to free himself and me processing what I had just done.

I just gave away Luz's only way home.

Eda found us after, and she noticed my grim expression after we got King out of the vein. I told her what happened, but she said that she understood. She said that she would have done the same thing to keep someone she loved safe. We ended up flying back to the Owl House, were we found Luz alive and well, seeming to be fully recovered from her ailment. She instantly ran up and hugged me, and said that she was happy that her awesome girlfriend was okay. I hugged her back so tight, and said that I was happy too. Eda took me aside and asked if she wanted me to break the news about the key and the Titan's Blood, or if I was strong enough to do it. I replied that we would actually probably be okay, and showed he my glove, which I found was stained with some of the blood from the key.

We ended up telling Luz what happened, relenting to her eagerness to know. We had to break it to her that the key was with Belos now, but that we still had Titan's Blood to use. She was shocked at first, but I told her about the fight I had with the Golden Guard, who I learned was named Hunter after Luz told me more about the fight that she had with him and Kikimora. I told her that he had some form of magic now, and that we would have to look out for him a bit more. She agreed, but said that she was just happy that I was alright. We ended up hanging out for the rest of the night, now that she was well enough to do so.

When I got home, Ed noticed me carrying my winter clothes, and asked me if I had gone to The Knee for something. I told him it was something like that, but I just needed a shower and a bed. Surprisingly, he just let me go, and I went and crashed.

If I ever see that Goldie boy again, he's dead.

But for now, I'll be Luz's super awesome, amazing, out-of-this-realm girlfriend.

With all malicious intent to take out the Golden Guard,
Amity
