Legend tells of a legendary warrior...whose Shinobi skills were the stuff of LEGENDS! He traveled the lands, in search of worthy foes...
A lone figure was wandering through the ancient lands of Feudal Japan, wrapped in nothing but a cloak and carrying a staff in hand. He came across a tavern that was being accosted by many unpleasant figures shaking up the staff and innocent patrons.
The cloaked figure calmly sat down and began helping himself to some sushi as many of the goons approached his table.
"I see you like to chew! Maybe you should chew ON MY FIST!"
As the leader of the thugs slammed his fist down on the table, the cloaked figure held up his hand calmly.
The warrior said nothing, for his mouth was full. Then he swallowed...and then he spoke-
"Enough talk. LET'S FIGHT."
SASHABOOOEY!
With a flourish, the figure thrust out his fist, creating a mighty shockwave that sent all the thugs flying. He then twirled out his staff as both of the ends glowed a brilliant gold, Japanese kanji glowing across the handle as he swung it like a baseball bat, knocking many more goons away.
He was so deadly in fact, that enemies would go blind from overexposure to PURE AWESOMENESS!
"MY EYES!" One of the thugs screamed, having been blinded.
"HE'S TOO AWESOME!" Panicked another thug.
"And attractive~" A waitress swooned.
"How can we repay you?" The barkeeper asked.
"There is no charge for awesomeness...or attractiveness." The figure said cooly before taking off his hood to reveal what he looked like.
He had wild monkey-like hair, a dashing face, and shining eyes that glimmered with charm and mischief. Underneath his cloak was brilliant gold armor and on his head was a type of tassle. He readied his staff when he noticed more enemies charging at him.
KABLOOEY!
Shooting out of the ceiling, the Shinobi warrior jumped across several airborne thugs like footholds, striking them with his fists, feet, and staff in a rapid flurry of blows.
It mattered not how many foes he faced, they were no match for his bodacity!
Entire swarms of hideous monsters known as Yoma began charging in, eyes glowing red and claws and teeth sharp as they moved to kill the warrior, whose eyes simply shined with brilliant light as he used his staff to carve the kanji for 'GLORY' in the air, which exploded and vaporized all the beasts.
Never before had a warrior been so feared...and so loved.
As he calmly wandered through the sea of bodies he left in his wake, the warrior looked up to see the shadows of the greatest Shinobi legends looking down at him.
Even some of the greatest living Shinobi Masters in the world gazed upon this great warrior in respect!
The warrior bowed toward the legends, who bowed back to him before a whole new army of Yoma came charging from behind. The legends rushed the oncoming horde as the warrior formed a brilliant golden cloud to fly alongside them, staff in hand.
Just as the two mighty forces were about to clash together...I had to wake up.
A groan came from a tall young man lazily sprawled on his bed as his eyes slowly blinked open, revealing them to be a unique golden yellow. His hair was black and unkempt and he was very lean but had decent muscle underneath.
Slowly getting up and twirling out of bed, landing expertly on his feet as he did so before rising to his full height, the boy yawned loudly and deeply before hunching over to scratch his back, trudging to his bathroom to get cleaned up for the day.
After brushing his teeth, washing his face, and putting on the school uniform for Hanzo National Academy, the boy made his way downstairs to have breakfast.
"Hey, Dad..."
Currently at the dining room table and enjoying a cup of coffee while reading the news was an older gentleman with gray wavy hair and auburn-colored eyes wearing a nice black suit.
"Good morning, Riyo. How did you sleep?"
"Like a log. And I was so enjoying my dream too..."
"Care to tell me what it was this time?" The man, Kiraya, asked.
"Oh, you know, I was a super awesome Shinobi warrior, fighting like the Monkey King and kicking butt."
"You really are fixated on that old story"
"What can I say, Sun Wukong is such a great character."
After finishing breakfast, Riyo made his way to school, listening to music on his MP3 while bobbing his head. It was a bright and sunny day with clouds perfectly arranged in the sky.
"One of these days, I'll be a totally awesome Shinobi warrior..."
In Japan, there lived a secret society of warriors known as Shinobi, who battled the forces of evil and darkness while hiding in the shadows, away from the public eye. Riyo had heard the stories from his father Kiraya and had longed to be one himself. However, there was just one issue with that...
The boy was rather impulsive, a bit lazy, and also rather perverted as well. However, he did his best to respect women regardless and even learned some moves from his father to defend himself.
"What I wouldn't give for some action. Every day is the same boring grind."
It was always get up, go to school, go home, kill time around town, get lectured by his dad on the occasion, and then fall asleep to repeat everything again.
"Then again, there is a silver lining..."
Looking forlornly at a beautiful girl with dark brown hair in a ponytail and a red scarf with eye-catching large breasts, Riyo sighed. The girl, Asuka, was one of his classmates and she was earnest, hard-working, and an overall bright and sunny person. They had hung out a few times but Riyo had never really brought himself to move forward and try to get closer to her.
"She'd probably just see me as a creep, anyway..."
With a sigh, he looked away, not noticing some other boys trying to chase Asuka down, only for her to quickly disappear, perching herself on a tree before sneaking through a hidden shaft in the side of the school building...
After school had ended for the day, Riyo just headed for the arcade to kill some time before heading home. However, on his way there, he heard something suspicious, like the sound of metal clanging.
Curious, he went to investigate and saw something that amazed him to no end; actual Shinobi fighting each other in an alleyway.
"No way! I knew it! I knew Shinobi were real!"
He noticed one of the Shinobi was carrying a weird jade vase, which got knocked out of their hands as their opponent moved to attack. The one who dropped the vase then looked at Riyo and gained an urgent look on their face.
"Take it and run!"
Without any explanation, Riyo did what the Shinobi said and ran for it. After running for a while, he ducked down into an alleyway and took a quick breather.
"Man, that was so cool! But what was so important about this vase anyway?"
Riyo looked over the vase and saw multiple scriptures written on it. He looked closely and saw figures acting out scenes from a story. Upon closer inspection, his eyes widened when he recognized what kind of story was being told.
"No way...this is the story of Sun Wukong! This is the Journey to the West!"
Suddenly, as if reacting to him, the scriptures glowed a brilliant gold before shifting into various kanji and symbols. The gold light then seeped into Riyo's hands as he panicked, unable to let go of the vase as the light wrapped around him, making him yell in alarm as he felt a weird rush of energy go through him. The rush was too much for his brain to handle and he passed out...
Thus began the story of how a young boy living a mundane life was thrust into a world of adventure with a great responsibility put onto his shoulders.
If you're wondering why I didn't name the MC Ben like I do for most of my other stories, Ben would be too out of place in a world situated in Japan.
Does anyone remember Senran Kagura, BTW? Well, I'm making this fic in celebration of the release of Black Myth Wukong! Hope you look forward to what's in store.
And yes, this is a Harem. Cliche, I know, but I'm also making this a parody of the Kung Fu Panda movies if the intro wasn't already enough of a clincher.
