A/N: Apparently parts of the site were down with 503 errors which affected the main Sonic fanfic page as well as my userpage, which meant this story sadly didn't get a lot of attention except for those who were already following me, but fortunately it's fixed now!

Here's Day 2! Hopefully it's better than the last one, since I put more effort into this day, and it's well over twice as long!

Without further ado, let's move on to the reviews and what matters most: the prompt!

You're very welcome! I've got food for all the Chris fans! :D

Day Two: Trust Issues
Prompt: Roller Coaster

"It's quite simple," Eggman explained as he finished strapping Chris into his seat in the roller coaster. "Once I start the ride, there is no turning back. When it runs its course and you step off onto solid ground, you will look at me through your cold metallic eyes and call me your master."

Chris gritted his teeth, tears pricking his eyes as he struggled against the straps that held him into his seat in the roller coaster car. "You're not gonna get away with this, Eggman!" he exclaimed.

"Really now," Eggman said with a grin. "All I need to do is pull this lever. That's how close I am to eliminating one of the rodent's closest allies!" He chuckled. "Don't you see? Right now my robot forces are holding back your friends, so they can't get anywhere near you even if they try. You're alone… but not for long. Soon you will be assigned to a platoon, and they will be your new friends."

"P-Please… I-If you do this… Sonic will… S-Sonic will defeat you again like he always does!"

"If you don't mind, I'll cross that bridge when I get there," Eggman said. "You know how much I don't like people rushing me. Also, I thought you liked theme parks!"

"I-I–"

"I get it. Listen, Christopher. I like theme parks too. The problem is, I never did get to go to one as a child, but now that I have become a fully mature genius, I have a lot of lost time to make up for. That's why I strive to create Eggmanland. The other problem is, my vision clashes with my plans for world domination, so I have to find a way to combine the two. And what better way to do it than install a roboticizer into the roller coaster! Oh, I see you trying to break free. I highly advise against that, the inertia would disagree with your willpower."

"Wh-Where's Sonic?!" Chris exclaimed, now sounding desperate.

Eggman deadpanned. "The ride is starting now, so please keep your arms, legs and head inside the car at all times, but feel free to lose your free will at any time. But most importantly… have fun!"

He pulled the lever, and the car slowly accelerated forward.

"C'mon, just a little more!" Amy rallied as she and Knuckles bashed their way through the robot hordes. They could see the roller coaster in the distance, but every foot they advanced forward felt like a mile. There were hundreds, perhaps thousands of robots on the grounds of Eggman's pop-up amusement park.

Both the hedgehog and the echidna were clearing the way for Sonic to get Chris out of the roller coaster car, and for Tails to shut down the ride before it reached the end of the track. They could see everything going on through a screen that Eggman had conveniently set up to destroy the morale of Chris' friends.

The events of the last hour were fresh in Knuckles' head, and the more he thought about them, the more strength he gave himself to smash Egg Pawns into each other and reduce Crabmeats to nothing but pulverized piles of scrap metal.

It all started as what appeared to be an ordinary amusement park that was set up in the outskirts of Station Square. Sonic had taken Chris and his friends there to enjoy a day of fun, but no one could have ever guessed that it was a trap set up by Eggman. Having declared it as his "most brilliant plan to date", he captured Chris when he was in the hall of mirrors, and Sonic and Tails spent far too long searching for him and bumping into mirrors in the process. Amy searched the Ferris wheel, while Knuckles explored the area where the bumper cars were, looking for any sign of Chris.

Of course, everyone else fled the park, and the police couldn't get close to the park because of all the robots surrounding the perimeter. And no one knew where Chris went until Eggman displayed him on a jumbo screen which was set up next to the roller coaster.

And he was scared.

That fear motivated Chris' four friends to get to him as fast as possible, because every inch Chris' roller coaster car advanced forward meant he was an inch closer to becoming a robot.

They could hear Chris' scream as the car hurtled down the first hill.

"Chris!" Amy exclaimed. She swung her hammer more ferociously than ever before, smashing Badniks left and right as she attempted to make her way through the sea of metal.

Knuckles attempted to climb over the robots, but it was to no avail, since many of them had spears and lances, and they swung them at him whenever he got close.

Meanwhile, Tails was flying above the crowd, searching for any sign of a maintenance panel. He had been to amusement parks before, and he remembered seeing maintenance panels near where the riders board the roller coaster. The only problem with that was that was exactly where Eggman was standing.

Sonic, however, had a different problem. He was able to make it through the Badniks with ease, but when he landed on the tracks, he got electrocuted and fell off, having to cling to a pole under the tracks so he didn't have a rough landing on the ground.

"You're not making this easy for me, huh, doc?" he said before he let go and landed on the ground, contemplating his next move. He was fully focused, he had to rescue his friend at all costs.

Chris was holding onto his seat for dear life as he shot through a loop-dee-loop, followed by an inclining left turn and a corkscrew inversion. While it did feel like other roller coasters he had been on before, he never felt such fear mixed with his adrenalin. He didn't know how it was going to end. Well… he did, but he didn't know what the process would be like, nor did he want to know. And yet he didn't have a choice or a say in the matter.

"S-SONIIIIIC!" he called when he saw his friend trying to scale the track, but the wind was whipping past him so fast that it distorted his voice. Judging by how far away the hedgehog was from him, he didn't think he could hear him anyway.

"Chris!" he could faintly hear Sonic call from the ground as he ran alongside the car.

"H-Help! It's almost at the end!" Chris called. Panic and fear were quickly taking over his mind, and he couldn't think straight. He couldn't enjoy a ride that he knew he wasn't going to safely step off of, not in his organic form at least.

Meanwhile, Eggman looked up just in time to see Tails diving down at him.

"Out of the way, Eggman!" Tails shouted before launching a kick directly in the doctor's direction. Eggman panicked and stepped back, but a grin formed when several Egg Pawns made their way up to the platform where he was standing.

Tails smirked, an expression that Sonic seemed to have rubbed off on him. He ran forward and tail-whipped the Egg Pawns that approached. There were six in all in the crowded space, but by the time he turned back to face Eggman, he was gone. Eggman could have gone anywhere, but he decided not to worry about that too much; he was going to shut off the roller coaster. By his estimate, he had less than forty seconds to go before the ride finished running its course.

Fortunately, the control panel was easy to spot, and he pulled a screwdriver out of Hammerspace. He knew that beneath the panel was the ride's emergency stop button. Since Eggman seemed to place full trust in his automated processes, he didn't need to stop his rides and factories in case of failure, which is why he hid away the emergency buttons.

However, he couldn't get the panel open in time because even more robots made their way up the stairs to the platform where he was standing, and he was forced to fight them. He couldn't get enough time to get to the emergency button.

Below him, Knuckles finally made his way into an opening in the sea of never-ending robots, and widened the path so Amy could get through as well. They both looked up as Sonic made his way back up the steel girders of the roller coaster.

"Guys!" Tails called from above, and Knuckles and Amy looked up at him. "Cover me!"

"I'm gonna boost you up," Knuckles briefly told Amy, who nodded. The echidna held out his hands, and Amy hopped up onto them, before he launched her straight into the air toward Tails.

Amy gracefully landed on the boarding platform next to Tails and immediately smashed the nearest robots with her Piko-Piko Hammer.

"Don't just stand there, shut it off!" Amy desperately told Tails. That was enough to snap him out of his surprised trance.

"R-Right! Sorry, Amy!"

Meanwhile, Chris was so scared of the upcoming roboticization process that he couldn't bring himself to breathe. He could only sit there and stare in disbelief at the tunnel that the cars were rapidly approaching.

The only thing faster than the roller coaster was the realization that he was going to die.

Well… there was one other thing that was faster. His heart leaped in his chest in startled fright as Sonic landed on the car behind him.

"Sorry to keep you waiting, Chris," he said as he leaned over and inspected the seat belt fastening Chris to his seat. "You're stuck really tight, huh…?"

He glanced ahead, mentally gauging how much time he had left before the car entered the tunnel. Fortunately, there were no more inversions, but there was a steep decline ahead of him, which the car now descended. Chris screamed, and Sonic was forced to hold on to the car for dear life.

However, shortly after the car made its final turn, it began to slow down. Chris knew the car would have to slow down eventually, but it was now moving much slower than he would have expected. And then a few seconds later, it came to a complete stop. It was eerily quiet, except for the sound of Knuckles smashing Badniks with his fists down below.

Chris was shaking and trembling as he struggled not to cry. He was embarrassed to cry in front of others, but he didn't have much of a choice now as the tears came rushing forward like a waterfall.

"You're okay, Chris, you're safe now," Sonic gently told him as he got to work unlocking Chris' safety harness. It took roughly a minute, but it finally came loose, and Sonic scooped Chris out and jumped to the safety of the ground below, making sure he was safely away from the Badniks that Knuckles was holding off.

"I got him!" Sonic called to his friends. "Now let's blow this popsicle stand!"

"What about Eggman?" Tails called as he flew Amy back to the ground nearby.

"We'll catch him another time," Sonic told him as he took another look at Chris, who was still crying profusely. "Chris comes first."

Knuckles finally made his way over, having broken through the barricade of Badniks, and he kept a careful eye on them while Chris' friends comforted him.

"I… don't know if I wanna go to the carnival anymore…" Chris admitted between sobs.

"Carnivals aren't normally like this, Chris," Sonic said, a slight edge of anger toward Eggman evident in his voice. "Eggman happened to turn this one into a makeshift Eggmanland, for what? To make us lose our morale?"

"It's not gonna happen again," Amy said with determination. "Not on our watch."

Suddenly Eggman's voice boomed over the amusement park's speakers, making Eggman flinch.

"You may win this time, rodents, but I guarantee I'll be back! And in case you're wondering, this park was a mere testbed for the full capabilities of the future Eggmanland! Stay tuned!"

"Scientifically, none of us are rodents…" Tails muttered under his breath. "He should know, he's a scientist…!"

"He doesn't care, he's way too self-absorbed to care," Sonic said with a chuckle.

Chris nervously glanced up at the roller coaster. He was sure an investigation would be launched into this amusement park today, as well as the other ones in the region to make sure none of them were rigged by Eggman. Eggmanland had always been one of his biggest ambitions, and he was willing to go to any length to realize his goals.

Even though Chris was starting to feel a little better now, he was starting to gain a new fear of roller coasters, all because of Eggman.

He couldn't even afford a little fun without his life being in danger, and his friends knew it.

But they were always there to help him, and he greatly appreciated that.

A/N: That concludes day 2! This was fun to write, especially since I was inspired by one of my favorite moments from jljj1996's fanfic My Brother's Keeper.

I wasn't sure what to do with "You got away with the crime while the knife's in my back" or the titular prompt, since it would take longer than I wanted to plan "Trust Issues". "Role Reversal" could mean literally anything, and to me it would mean that Chris would likely have to save Sonic, which would kinda defeat the purpose of him getting whumped on here. So I went with "Roller Coaster!"

Tomorrow's theme is "Set Up for Failure!"
