Chapter 5

The Battle To Save The Powhatans

After escaping the tower, everyone found a small cottage where they would hide from the authorities, as Meeko and Percy, under Flit's direction, made sure to cover up their tracks so that they wouldn't be discovered.

"What happened to you?" Pocahontas asked.

"Ratcliffe convinced the king that I was the traitor. I had to stay hidden— let them continue to believe that I was dead," replied John Smith.

"I missed you so much," she sighed with relief.

"I thought of you everyday," he smiled, even as they held each other close.

"You're not the only one, Smith. All of us thought about you and Pocahontas for a long time. But, even though you never wrote to her about how you were doing, all that matters is that we're back together. You, me, Pocahontas, Kirito, Asuna, Leafa, Yui, and all of our friends. Even John Rolfe, our new friend," said Sora.

"Yeah, but now we need to convince King James that we have to stop Ratcliffe from launching his attack on Virginia, all so that he can take back Jamestown and wipe out the Powhatans, just as Shea saw in her visions," added Kirito.

"And what's worse is that Sephiroth is indeed involved in this," finished John Rolfe.

"Sephiroth?" asked the other John.

"Yeah. He's someone that Sora hates with all of his heart, because he not just manipulated him, but also killed those who wanted to save, with the exception of Salem and Sailor Galaxia. Both died after the darkness in their hearts was expelled from their hearts, just like with Prince Demande. And when that's done, he'll claim the souls of every brave warrior who fought to the end to protect their friends and families," explained Ruby.

"Well, what can we do? We're wanted fugitives on the run, because we busted both Pocahontas and Uti out of jail!" replied Yang.

"Maybe, but I think it's better if Pocahontas takes some time to herself. That way, she can find a solution to stop the war from happening, by looking within herself," said Yumi.

Surprised but relieved, Pocahontas nodded, then left to find a place to be alone. John Rolfe tried to follow her, but lost her as she disappeared into the fog and mist that surrounded the forest beyond. John Smith and the others caught up with him.

"Let her go," he said.

"He's right, Smith. We have to leave her alone. Only Pocahontas has to figure this out on her own," added Shea.

"And there's more. We have no right to choose for her. Only she has the freedom to find her true calling. The right road to walk down," agreed the spiky brunette.

"Alright then," sighed Smith.

"Of course. How could I have forgotten?" admitted Rolfe.

Now alone, Pocahontas ran as fast as she could after kicking off her shoes, and came to a crossroad. The wind blew, and Nakoma's voice echoed around her.

"Do not forget this land," were the words she said.

Nodding to herself, Pocahontas slowly walked to a lake, and saw a tree that reminded her of Grandmother Willow, and began to make the decision for herself.

Pocahontas' Thoughts:

In some new place on some new face I've never seen

I might find where I belong someday

And there may even be another dream for me

Waiting there somewhere along the way

Pocahontas:

Listen to the spirit within

Pocahontas' thoughts:

Who knows where I go from here?

So many voices, only one thing's clear

There's nothing to lose, nothing to fear

The past is gone, I must move on from here

Flit, Meeko, and Percy all ran to her side, as she embraced not just them, but her true self, even as the wind whistled around everyone. Finally, she returned to her friends, and Uti smiled proudly.

"I'm going back," she declared.

"Then, we'll help you convince King James, as well as let him know that Ratcliffe has not only lied to him, but everyone in all of England," added Sora.

"That's right, Pocahontas. And even if they don't listen to you, we'll keep finding other ways to let them know that we all speak the truth, even though someone may say they can't handle it. We've all seen how kind your father, Nakoma, and everyone else has been, even though they were unsure of whether they could trust us or not. But trust has to be earned, not given away like a piece of food or a toy," agreed Asuka.

"It may sound crazy, but we both know that some risks are part of every plan we make. And that's the way we do things, no matter who or what we are," finished Rebecca.

"I agree," said John Rolfe, leading to John Smith face palming himself.

Then he presented the necklace that Pocahontas' mother had worn.

"I thought you may need whatever power this holds for you," he decided, and placed it around her neck.

"Then I think it's time we taught everyone a lesson about what happens when you believe someone's lies. Because liars and deceivers are literally the worst of the worst, and the lowest of the low," added Kirito.

"Then let's go, everyone," replied Pocahontas.

Next day, everyone got into their positions, as well as made sure to avoid the guards since they were wanted fugitives, until they reached Buckingham Palace. Just as the high court of King James was about to begin, Pocahontas burst through the door, surprising everyone.

"There's no need for you to call your guards, Your Majesty. They've been preoccupied, because there's something we need to tell you," said Yumi, who joined her side along with everyone else.

"Surely, His Majesty would not refuse an audience with a visiting princess," added Pocahontas.

"James," whispered Queen Anne, as she took his hand.

"I suggest you listen to your wife, Your Majesty," said Sora.

The king, though annoyed, reluctantly complied with his suggestion.

"Your Grace, if you insist on war… my people will fight to the last warrior. There is nothing to be gained but much to be lost, for all of us," explained their visitor.

"There is no gold, is there?" asked the queen.

"Unfortunately, no, Your Majesty. There never was any gold," answered Chisato.

"No, Ratcliffe assured me–" the king tried to protest.

"That I was dead? Was it true?" John Smith asked, as he stepped in.

The entire room was in a terrible muddle, now that the truth was out.

"And Ratcliffe has not only lied to you, but he's formed an agreement with Sephiroth on this mission of vengeance from behind your back! But most of all, he found out that I'm the son of Master Xehanort, the Keyblade Master who wanted to create a new world without light and darkness, but was misled by even darker forces! That's why Sora and his friends agreed to help me repair the damage he caused, and to ensure that I will never ever be anything like my father at all, because he believes in me, just as we all believe in Pocahontas. But he didn't just betray you, Your Majesty. He betrayed himself," added Cody.

"There are many voices around you… but you must listen to your own voice," agreed Pocahontas.

"Please, listen to her. I know that some may doubt Pocahontas' conviction, but she speaks the truth, even though she chose to put her life on the line for the people that are most important to her. And I'm not just talking about the Powhatan tribe, but us, her real friends. Friends who helped her see that there's always another solution to fixing a problem that's right under our noses," agreed the spiky brunette.

Finally, King James called for silence, and agreed to stop his old friend who had betrayed him.

"Ratcliffe has left! We must stop him!" he declared.

"It's too late," replied his wife.

"No, it's never too late to make a difference. And what I saw in my visions will be averted, Your Majesty," Shea argued firmly.

"Shea is right. We will stop Ratcliffe," agreed Pocahontas.

Out at the docks, Ratcliffe addressed his army and all the captains of the armada.

"You are the best soldiers in all of the civilized world. We sail to scour the world for the savage vermin. Are you with us?" he announced.

The soldiers cheered loudly, even as Sephiroth joined him.

"Then now is the time. Wipe them out. All of them," said the One-Winged Angel.

But suddenly, they heard one of the soldiers say that some riders were approaching. Ratcliffe grabbed a spyglass and looked through it. It was John Smith, along with his allies, rushing to stop him.

"Raise anchor! Cast off!" cried the madman.

The crew nodded, and as the ships began to sail, both the former captain and the Warriors of Light jumped aboard. This left them in shock and dismay at how he survived.

"I am the ghost of John Smith! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!" Smith cried out in a haunting voice, and the battle began.

Pocahontas swung aboard as well, even with Asuka stopping another soldier from attacking her with her swords.

"If you hurt Pocahontas, I'll make you regret it!" she snapped, and kicked him overboard.

"Thank you, Asuka," said her friend.

"My pleasure," she smiled.

Meeko, Percy, and Uti also went after them, but dove into the water, with John Rolfe doing the same. They all swam towards the ship, then clambered aboard it.

"Who started the party without me?" he asked, taking a sword from another soldier.

The battle grew even more intense, even as the Heartless emerged.

"Look out!" cried Yumi, sending some overboard.

"You call this a party?" questioned Smith.

"You're not having any fun?" Rolfe asked back.

"Less chatting, more stopping Ratcliffe!" barked Kirito, as both he and his friends did all they could to protect Pocahontas.

Uti, Meeko, Percy, and Flit all clambered aboard, and fought of the other soldiers. The racoon poured soapy water onto the deck.

"Yeah, swab this, you jerks!" taunted Yuzuriha.

Percy bit one of them on his back side, making him scream and jump ship. Everyone was doing what they could to stop the armada, as well as fighting back against their enemies.

"Drop the anchor!" cried Rolfe, stopping another sailor from killing Pocahontas.

Nodding quickly, Pocahontas pulled the lever, after being shown how a ship could operate by her new friend. The flagship stopped, then collided into another ship. Then another ship crashed into one of the other ships. Then another, and another, and another, and another, and another. The armada was stopped, but an angry Ratcliffe cut through the union jack and pointed his sword menacingly at Pocahontas.

"Finally, I shall have my revenge on both you and your precious friends," he growled, his body surrounded by an aura of darkness.

"Mind if we cut in?" John Smith asked, even with Sora at his side.

The battle began, even with Ratcliffe trying to use the darkness to give him an edge, until he drew a dagger on his enemies.

"Trying to make a point?" he asked, then kicked the former governor back.

Sora lunged at him, his Keyblade crashing against Ratcliffe's sword, until they entered yet another bladelock.

"Yes, there's the demon within you, boy. Set Vanitas free! Let him join Sephiroth, or watch your precious friends die," grinned the embodiment of greed.

Sora forced him back, then without warning, he struck back in a vicious fury, startling Rebecca, even after she fought off the Heartless. John Smith helped him out as best as he could, until they both had Ratcliffe at their mercy.

"Please, don't hurt me, lads. I was just doing my duty," he pleaded.

"Sheath your sword," scoffed Smith, tossing his enemy's weapon back.

"Surely you know that a good soldier always follows orders," replied Ratcliffe, as he did as he was told.

"You were never a good soldier at all. You're a liar, and a monster. You lied to King James, and you've been lying about everything. But most of all, you betrayed yourself, just as Cody said. And he's made his choice to never finish what his father started all those years ago. That's why we're helping him repair the damage he caused so that everyone can heal, and the name of Xehanort is redeemed," argued Sora.

"If that's what you believe, then I shall see you all die for this! As I was saying, I never liked you, Smith. I hereby sentence you and your friends to death. But do you have any last words to say?" he asked, after pulling a gun on them.

"Oh, we sure do, Ratcliffe. And it's just two words: Bon voyage," remarked Sora.

Ratcliffe was confused, until suddenly, after seeing his enemy's duck, he was picked up and hung over the ocean by part of the sails pole. John Rolfe had saved their lives.

"Very stylish," praised the former captain.

"Well, I learned from the best," he replied.

"Pity. We so would've preferred to see you hang," John Smith said to his former superior, then cut him loose.

Ratcliffe fell into the water below, and swam back to shore. Everyone was both happy and relieved, but the moment didn't last long. Sephiroth stepped down and glared at them.

"You really believe you've won? Think again," he said.

"Sephiroth," replied Pocahontas, her eyes narrowing with disgust.

"No, you leave him to me, Pocahontas. I won't let him finish what that fool started," interjected Sora.

"So be it. At least provide me with some final entertainment before I depart," smiled the One-Winged Angel, and he readied his sword.

Both enemies glared into each other's eyes for a brief moment, then charged forward to signify the start of their next round.

Yet even as the battle raged, Sora, still not wanting Shea's vision to be made real, unleashed his full fury, transforming into his True DIvine Lucian Harmony form, which surprised everyone when they saw his rainbow wings.

"Now you will know real horror, Sephiroth!" he cried, and struck back with this very strength within his heart, which he'd never truly forgotten about.

All of his friends watched, until they saw him perform his ultimate attack. Divine Omnislash, and followed it up with Divine Omnislash Prime.

Battered, weary, and beaten, Sephiroth saw the final blow coming towards him, and was defeated yet again.

"SEPHIROTH!"

"This fight is over. And those that Pocahontas holds dear to her are protected. Not just by her, but by our hands as well," Sora declared, as he stood over his defeated enemy.

"I see. But next time we meet, all you cherish will be lost to you forever," remarked the One-Winged Angel, and he vanished into the darkness.

But once he was gone, everyone quietly celebrated their victory, even though Meeko and Percy would dance with each other, despite being two different animals. But back at port, Ratcliffe spat and sputtered, until he came face to face with King James who was most disgusted at this betrayal.

"Your Majesty, the fugitives are getting away! They've sabotaged the armada. You have to stop them!" he tried to say, but was put in chains once again.

"No more lies. Arrest him," his former friend said, and walked away.
