Chapter 6

A New Bridge

The next day, everyone in Buckingham Palace was now celebrating John Smith's triumphant return, after both he and everyone at his side were given a full pardon by the king. It was a happy occasion, but Pocahontas blinked a few happy tears, even after Sora and his friends were knighted by the king and queen of England, and named honorary knights of the realm. She then turned to face John Rolfe who stood on the balcony away from her.

"Lord Advisor to the Royal Court, and new knights of the realm. What a wonderful honor," she said.

"Yep. But with Ratcliffe finally out of our hair, at least things are finally able to settle down now," replied Sora.

"And you, you've done everything you've set out to do, and more," smiled Rolfe.

"Well, there's still the threat of Sephiroth, even after he and Ratcliffe formed an alliance with each other. Also, Pocahontas, we know without a doubt, your father will be proud of you, and so will Nakoma and everyone else back in Virginia. They'll most certainly give you a hero's welcome, along with everyone else in Jamestown," said Cody.

"Yes, it-it will be good to see them again," Pocahontas smiled back.

"Well, perhaps one day you will return to London," he replied kindly.

Before they could explain further, John Smith came out with exciting news.

"The king has given me a ship! This is my dream! Ours. Every day, a new adventure. New lands to discover. I'll chart a new course. Uh, you'll be at my side, naturally. A ship of our own! I'll put a crew together immediately! We'll set sail right away!" he said happily, even as Rolfe slowly walked away, leaving Meeko, Percy, and Flit sad.

Pocahontas seemed unsure.

"What? That's… not what you want, is it?" asked the newly pardoned captain.

"We walked the same path once. I found where I belong," she replied quietly.

"I hope you will also find happiness," assured Smith.

"Well, anyway. We'd better get going. Also, Captain Smith, Pocahontas, may your hearts be your guiding key," said Sora.

"May the Great Spirit always be with you," Pocahontas smiled.

John Smith gently kissed her hand, then he watched as Pocahontas gently kissed Sora's cheek for luck as he slowly walked away.

"Aw," cooed Asuna.

"Come on! It was just for luck, Asuna," Sora chuckled nervously.

Even so, after some time had passed, Pocahontas soon returned to port with her friends for the journey home. But of course, Team SSKYYYYYLAARRCCC decided it was better to send her off with a smile, rather than with tears. But Mrs. Jenkins, despite not having her spectacles on her, was looking for her, until she thought the tail of a horse was her new friend's hair. Luckily, Pocahontas put them back on her so she could see again.

"Mrs. Jenkins, thank you for everything," she said kindly, and hugged her.

She wanted to know where John Rolfe was, but the housekeeper told her that he wasn't willing to say goodbye to her. Disappointed, Pocahontas went onto the ship, even with Flit and Percy at her side. But poor Meeko began to feel seasick again. Once she was aboard, the ship slowly sailed away.

"Well, perhaps one day we'll return to London," a voice said from behind her.

It was John Rolfe. Pocahontas happily ran to his side and embraced him.

"What about your duty to the king?" she asked.

"I have a duty to honor what is in my heart, Pocahontas," replied John Rolfe, which made Percy, Meeko, and Flit very happy.

"Ta-ta, pip-pip," Uti said as he waved a handkerchief.

"Come on, Uti. Let's put on some tea. And you, mind your manners," ushered Mrs. Jenkins, as she led Pocahontas' former bodyguard and the bear she saved away.

"Good for them," Sora admitted.

"I know what you mean, but are you really sure Pocahontas wants to stay with him?" asked Kirito.

"Yeah. But, at least we sent them off with a smile, rather than with tears," he replied.

"And Ratcliffe's been brought to justice, even though Sephiroth had to retreat after beating him once more," said Shea.

They all waved goodbye to their friends, but did make sure to return to their own ship for new adventures.

"Let's go home," John Rolfe said to Pocahontas.

And as they sailed away into the sunset back to Virginia, they shared one final song together after their kiss.

Pocahontas:

Two hopeful hearts

Two lands apart

Together there's no end to what our dream can start

Like two eagles

Soar as one upon the river of the wind

With the promise of forever

We will take the past and learn how to begin

And we'll build a bridge of love

Between two worlds

John Rolfe:

With every kiss,

we'll promise this

We'll find a way to light the dawn of all we wish

Across the stream of stars

We'll reach an island in the sky

With the moon to guide our way

I know that we can find a home for you and I

And we'll build a bridge of love

Between two worlds

Both:

Miles and miles away

Pocahontas:

Though the journey takes us far

Our love has found a place to stay

John Rolfe:

If we believe

Pocahontas:

If we believe

John Rolfe:

There is no sea

Pocahontas:

There is no sea

Both:

That's wide enough to keep us from our destiny

Pocahontas:

Like the snows of every winter melt

And blossom into spring

John Rolfe:

As the seasons pass we'll live as one

Pocahontas:

No matter what the years ahead may bring

John Rolfe:

No night is long enough

Pocahontas:

To end this light that shines on us

Both:

We have built a bridge of love

Between two worlds

Yes, we have built a love

Between two worlds
