Chapter 1

Bella's POV

I walked into the classroom with a few other students and did a quick scan of the room. I saw a few people from the other night at the Dells before the cops came. I could feel all their eyes on me as I walked up to the teacher and handed him my new student card for him to sign.

"Welcome, Isabella. I hope you find Spencer Academy to your liking. Please have a seat, anywhere you like." He said smiling. He handed me the card back.

"Thank you sir. I'm sure I will." I said. I walked over to an empty seat on the second row and sat down. I brought out my book, notebook, and pen. I adjusted the way that I sat, the damn skirt we had to wear was to uncomfortable. I sighed and looked around as I waited for class to start. Everyone was whispering and looking my way. I rolled my eyes and looked at my book.

"Don't worry. You're the new girl. You'll be old news by the end of the week." Amy said sitting beside me. I looked at her and scoffed.

"Can't wait until the end of the week."I said sighing. She laughed. She looked at the door and swooned. I looked at the door and saw four guys walking in.

"That's Pogue, Caleb, Reid and Tyler, remember? Reid is so fine. All of them are single now, well Pogue is in a off and on relationship with Kate, but I prefer the bad boy type. Stay away from Reid, I call dibs." She said biting her lip.

"You can have all four. I'm done with dating for awhile." I said shaking my head.

"Come on! New town, new you! Remember? That's why you have the fierce attitude, hot clothes, bad ass car. Now you just need a man!" She said pushing on my arm. She giggled with a big smile on her face.

"Now I just need to focus on my school and get into a college." I said smirking at her. She huffed as the bell rung. Everyone sat down in a seat. The tall dark haired one and the longed hair one of the four sat beside us. I glanced at the dark haired one then turned to the teacher.

"Good morning students. We have a new student joining us, I'd like for you all to meet Isabella. Isabella will you stand please." The teacher said smiling. I stood up and gave a small wave.

"You don't have to call me Isabella, Bella will do just fine." I said before sitting down. I adjusted the skirt again and huffed. He nodded and went about with class. I was tapping my pen when I dropped it. I bent down to pick it up but a hand had already grabbed it. I looked at the owner of the hand. It was the dark haired one. His eyes were captivating.

"Here you go." He said handing it to me.

"Thanks." I said biting my lip. He gave a soft smile and sat back in his chair. I did the same. The bell rung and we gathered our stuff.

"Bella, you should come to Nicky's with me tonight. It'll be lots of fun." Amy said smirking.

"What's Nicky's?" I asked adjusting my bag.

"A bar that lets our age kids hang around. Totally safe. Unless you count Aaron Abbott being there then it's totally unsafe, but other than him it's safe." She said as we walked out. Blondie of the four walked up to us.

"Amy. Who's your friend?" He said smirking at me. He put his arm around her neck and I saw her flush automatically.

"Umm Reid… This is uhh. This is my new roommate Bella. Bella this is Reid." She said stuttering.

"Reid Garwin. Welcome to Spencer." He said biting his lip.

"Thanks." I said nodding.

"She's right. You should come to Nicky's. We'll be there and I'm sure you'll have fun." He said looking me over.

"Yeah, no. I got catching up to do and unpacking to start. So have fun with Amy, I'm sure she'll enjoy it for the both of us." I said smiling at Amy. Her head jerked to me.

"We can help you unpack." He offered. I shook my head.

"Nope. Y'all enjoy on your own. I gotta go find Mr. Hardlin's class before the bell rings. Bye." I said turning away.

"Calebs headed that way. Yo! Caleb!" Reid said loudly. I stopped and turned back around. The dark haired guy walked up to us.

"Bella here needs to find Hardlin's class." Reid told him. Caleb looked at me. He looked like he was fighting a battle to hit Reid or say something rude.

"It's fine, I'm sure I can find it on my own." I said.

"No it's fine. I have that class next. It's this way." He said nodding his head in the other direction. I nodded and followed him.

"What brought you to Spencer?" He asked as we walked.

"I received an invitation in the mail, one of my teachers back in Washington recommended me, I guess. Both parents were happy and I had nothing tying me down there, so, I packed my bags and came." I said shrugging.

"You guess?" He asked looking at me.

"Yeah. I've never heard of this place until I received a invite in the mail. I did my research, good school and it can help me get into the college I want." I said nodding.

"I've heard of people transferring to Spencer but not getting an invite." He said scoffing.

"Well here I am. The first exception." I said. He nodded. We walked into class and I handed the teacher my card. He signed it, welcomed me, and I looked around for a spot to sit. There was an empty spot next to Caleb. I walked up and motioned to it.

"Mind if I sit?" I asked. He shook his head no. I sat down and grabbed my notebook. I sat there the entire class thinking of what Caleb said. People transferred here, not get an invite. Then it hit me. I scoffed and shook my head. I tossed my pen down angrily and huffed. I saw Caleb look at me from the side. The bell rung and I shoved my stuff in my bag.

"You okay?" Caleb asked.

"Just peachy." I said walking away. I looked at my schedule when I got to the hallway.

"What class do you have next?" Caleb asked standing beside me.

"Bentley." I said. He took my schedule from my hands and looked at it.

"We have the same schedule besides swim last period. Defensive class?" He said handing it back. I nodded and put it in my bag.

"Yeah. I trip easily on air and I want to build muscle and balance." I told him. He nodded and laughed. He walked me to our next class and lunch. I sat with Amy at lunch.

"So Caleb is nice huh?" She asked smirking.

"Somewhat. He's got that, I can be an ass too, vibe." I said laughing. She laughed.

"He's just been hurt is all. His girlfriend left him about a month ago, and he hasn't been right since. Maybe a certain girl can fix that." She said winking at me.

"Maybe she can when she comes along. What're you gonna wear to impress Blondie?" I said smirking. The change of subject brought her to a whole level of talking. The rest of the day past quickly. I walked to admissions after my last class.

"Hi. Can I get a copy of my scholarship or payment information for my parents taxes?" I asked the lady. She nodded, pulled my file, and handed me a paper.

"It's all been paid for both semesters dear. The gentleman and lady that were here a month ago made sure you were completely comfortable." She said smiling. The Cullen's didn't leave me until two weeks ago.

"What gentleman and lady was that? My dad and mom didn't fly out of town." I said biting my lip.

"Both had brown hair, the boy was tall, skinny, both had brownish eyes, pale skin. The lady was super sweet, shorter than the man." She said. I froze. Why would Edward and Esme do this? Had Edward and Alice planned the party to go the way it did just to get me to leave Forks?

"Is there a way to cancel everything or is it to late?" I asked her.

"I'm sorry dear but it's to late. Is everything okay?" She said looking at me.

"I'm fine. Thank you." I said walking off. I got back to my dorm and dropped my bag on the bed. I called Charlie once I changed into shorts and a t-shirt.

"Hey kiddo. How's school?" He asked when he answered.

"Fine. Roommate I have is a bit loose in the head but she's pretty cool." I said laughing at Amy. She scoffed and rolled her eyes at me laughing.

"That's good you're making friends Bella." He said.

"Yeah. So I found something out today." I said biting my lip. I got off my bed and started pacing.

"What's that?" He asked.

"The Cullen's enrolled me into Spencer, paid everything. I got the invitation as a reminder to start school here." I told him.

"You're kidding me? Really?" He scoffed.

"Nope. Edward and Esme came up here about a month ago, toured, loved it, and signed me up. But what I don't get is why me? If they were planning on leaving me, why get me into another school?" I said huffing.

"I'm not sure Bells, but I'd take it if I were you." He said. I sighed and ran my hand threw my hair.

"I am cause I can't cancel anything. Damn Cullen's." I said huffing. He laughed. We spoke some more then hung up.

"So the ex boyfriend got you into school huh?" Amy asked going through her closet.

"Yup. And. I didn't even know about it!" I said opening one of my boxes. It was some clothes Alice had given me. Dad must've packed them.

"Want some clothes?" I asked taking the box to her. She came over and started going through them.

"These still have tags! Why won't you wear them?" She gasped.

"Cause it's my past not my future. So enjoy the expensive clothing." I said going back to my other boxes. I was aggravated highly as I opened another box. I looked at Amy.

"So what's appropriate to wear to Nicky's?" I asked her. She gasped and squealed with joy. I left my hair down in waves, applied a little makeup, and dressed in boots, tight jeans, a tank top and a jean jacket. Reid and Tyler picked us up outside in a Hummer. We got to the place and walked inside. Amy and I grabbed a table and sat there watching the guys play pool.

"Careful with Aaron, he's a prick, treats girls like dirt." Amy told me. I looked at the long haired guy. He was handsome but he had that I'm a dick attitude. I rolled my eyes.

"I told you, I'm not gonna date anyone." I said.

"And I'm ignoring that. You need to get over dickward. And what better way to do that, is with a new man." She said giggling. I scoffed and shook my head. I saw Caleb and Pogue walked in. Pogue had a girl on his arm.

"That's Kate. I guess Pogues back with her." Amy said shrugging. I hummed. Reid kept flirting with Amy and she was enjoying it. Aaron kept eyeing me from the side. They took a break and Tyler went to talk to the other two guys across the bar. I got up and went to get a drink.

"Hi, I'm Kira. And you are?" A red head said from beside me. I turned to her.

"Bella." I answered.

"Hmm. Well Bella, stay away from Aaron. He's mine okay?" She told me.

"You can have him. Cause I sure as hell don't want him." I scoffed at her.

"He wouldn't be interested in you anyways. You're not his type. He likes dolled up girls, not plain ones." She told me.

"So girls who wear ten pounds of makeup to hide their real face and wear slutty clothes is his type? Great! Now I know how not to look like." I said sarcastically. I turned away but she grabbed my arm.

"Watch who you're taking to." She told me. I pushed her hand off of me.

"Don't put your hands on me. I'm not one of those girls that's gonna scare easily. As for your boyfriend, I don't want him." I told her. I paid for my drink when it got handed to me. She slapped it out of my hand making it go across the floor. Everyone looked at us.

"Kira!" The bald headed man yelled. She looked at him.

"Get out of my bar! Now!" He told her. She glared at me then stomped out. I turned to the man.

"I'll clean it up if you will hand me the stuff." I told him.

"Don't worry about it. Let me get you another drink." He said smiling. I nodded and sighed. He handed me another and I went back to my table. They bet a combo shot. I thought I saw something flash in Tyler's eyes. Then a fight broke out between Aaron, Reid, Tyler, and some dude named Bordy. We followed them out with their jackets.

"What's the problem?" A voice barked before anyone could throw a punch. We turned and saw Caleb and Pogue coming up behind us.

"None of your business, Danvers." Aaron barked back.

"He bet we couldn't do another combo shot like before and we did." Reid said smirking.

"Why don't you just forget about it okay?" Caleb eyeing Reid. He pursed his lips. The bartender came out with a bat.

"I've said it before and I'll say it again. Take it someplace else! Now!" He barked.

"Whatever you say, Nicky." Aaron told him. He shoved past Caleb and Pogue and went back inside.

"Girls go on back inside. They'll be in, in a minute." Caleb told us.

"And here I was expecting to see my first fight in a new town. Bummer." I said faking a pout. He cut his eyes at me.

"Here. We're gonna go after we talk. Take my keys and go get in the hummer." Tyler told us. He held up a set of keys. We handed them their jackets.

"Sweet! Can I drive it?" I said excitedly.

"No. But maybe another time." He said laughing. I huffed and took the keys. I glanced at Caleb as we walked by them.

"Caleb totally likes you!" Amy squealed as we walked.

"Caleb can totally find someone else." I scoffed. She groaned as we got closer to the Hummer. I unlocked it and we got in.

"He hasn't liked anyone since Sarah left. Maybe you're his eye candy gonna be girlfriend." She said giggling.

"I'm not ready to date, Amy. He's probably in the same boat too. It takes time to get over people." I said shrugging. We kept talking until Reid and Tyler got in. They drove us back to the dorms. We did our routine and went to bed. I woke up startled. I looked around the room and sighed. The dream was horrible. I was back in the meadow, Laurent and Victoria both were there. Amy was there being turned along with everyone in Ipswich. Then they came after me. Luckily they were taken care of before I left. The wolves had torn them apart and burned them. I got out of bed and headed to shower. It was an hour before I had to be up and I knew I wasn't about to fall back asleep. I went and got us coffee before class and came back.

"How long have you been up?" Amy asked yawning.

"Two hours." I said sighing. She groaned and went to get ready. I sat on my bed and sighed. She came back, got dressed, and we went to get breakfast. We walked into class and sat down. Reid and Tyler sat beside Amy. I felt someone sit beside me.

"Rough night?" I heard. I looked over and saw Caleb beside me. He looked at me and raised an eyebrow.

"Me?" I asked him. He smirked.

"Besides Pogue, you're the only one beside me." He said. I nodded and looked back at my book.

"Right. Umm just a rough morning. Nothing coffee can't help." I said shrugging.

"You know there's this coffee stand outside the building, best coffee on campus." He told me.

"The one that parks the cart right in the way of the stairs?" I asked smirking. He laughed and nodded.

"Yeah. Yeah that's the one." He said. I nodded.

"I found them my first day in the dorms. I couldn't sleep so I went wondering around and found the cart that morning." I told him.

"You went wondering around a dark campus? Alone?" He asked.

"I blame it on the nightmares and time change." I said shrugging. He went to say something but the bell rung. Class started. I hated relearning everything I already knew. A student came in and handed the teacher a note.

"Ms. Swan. You're wanted in the provost office please." The teacher said. I sighed and gathered my things.

"Mr. Danvers, will you escort Ms. Swan to his office please?" The teacher asked. He nodded and got up with me.

"What does the provost want with you?" He asked as we walked.

"Your guess is as good as mine." I said shrugging.

"Second day here and already you're in trouble. You might be Reid's type after all." He said laughing. I scoffed and shook my head.

"Sorry to burst his bubble and everyone else's, but Reid's not my type. The bad boy is already called for." I told him.

"What is your type then?" He asked stopping. I looked at the door we stopped in front of. Provost Higgins was stamped across it. I bit my lip and looked at him.

"I'll let you know when I find out. But bad boy, cocky, is not my type." I said smirking. He grinned and nodded.

"Want me to wait for you?" He asked nodding to the wall.

"No thanks. I think I can find my way back to class." I said biting my lip again. His eyes darted down and he licked his own. I felt myself blush. How can an innocent act like that be so hot?, I thought. I cleared my throat and looked down.

"I should go in." I said nervously. He nodded. I knocked and walked in. A man sitting at a wooden desk was waiting.

"Ms. Swan. Please come sit." He said looking up from the papers. I sat down and crossed my legs.

"Ms. Swan, I was made aware of a little scrabble between you and Ms. Kira Snyder last night. What happened from your view?" He said.

"I went to get a drink, she confronted me about trying to take her boyfriend, I told her I didn't want him, she told me about the girls he likes and I said something smart. I turned away then she grabbed my arm, I pushed her hand away, grabbed my paid for drink which she proceeded to slap out of my hand. Then the bartender told her to get out and she left. That's it." I said shrugging.

"So you didn't do this to Ms. Snyder?" He asked handing me a photo. I looked at and saw the red head with a black eye and busted lip.

"Nope. Ask anyone that was there last night, I didn't lay a hand on her. I went back to my seat, hung out with my friends, we went home to the dorms." I said handing it back to him.

"And what about the fight with Mr. Danvers, Mr. Abbott, Mr. Edwards, Mr. Garwin, and Mr. Simms?" He asked.

"Boys being boys. It's high school, they fight all the time. And it was an argument, not a fight." I said crossing my arms.

"This is a serious accusation, Ms. Swan." He started.

"And I know that. I didn't lay a hand on that girl." I told him. He nodded.

"I believe you, I do. We've had problems with Ms. Snyder in the past with other students, preferably the new ones. You're free to go Ms. Swan." He said nodding me off.

"Sounds like the queen bee needs to be handled with instead of getting a lecture every time. Have a good day Provost Higgins." I said grabbing my bag. I stood up and walked out. I turned the corner and ran into someone.

"Woah. Easy there." A voice chuckled. I looked up at Caleb.

"Sorry, I didn't see you there." I said biting my lip.

"You're okay. What happened in there?" He said nodding to the office. I scoffed and shook my head as I crossed my arms.

"The dumb red head tried to frame me for someone hitting her. Word got back to the provost about the arguments last night and he wanted my thoughts." I said.

"And?" He asked.

"I told him what I saw. She wanted to make sure I didn't touch her property, and your fight was boys being boys. Then we all went home." I said shrugging.

"Boys being boys huh?" He asked smirking.

"Would you prefer toddlers?" I teased. He laughed.

"That might fit the mentality of Aaron and Reid." He said nodding. I laughed and rubbed my neck. I leaned against the wall and groaned.

"Are we aloud to leave school for lunch?" I asked him.

"Yeah. What did you have in mind?" He asked.

"That pizza place over on Grace street, I think. They looked like they had great pizza." I said.

"They do. We can go together if you want." He said biting his lip. I nodded and smiled.

"You're on Danvers. Your car or mine?" I said. He grinned and nodded.

"I'll drive." He said. I felt myself blush and we walked to our class. We walked out to his car afterwards. A convertible Mustang.

"Nice ride." I said when he opened the door for me.

"Thanks. It was a 17th birthday gift from my mom. She said my dad would've wanted me to have it." He said. I got in and he shut the door. He ran around and got in.

"Would've? Is he gone or something?" I asked.

"Yeah. He passed away a few years ago." He said nodding. I nodded and looked out the window. I wasn't gonna press the issue. He started up and pulled away. He put down the top and let the cool air in.

"Wow." I said as we rolled through town. It was beautiful. The historical buildings, the sites, the colors of the trees changing. We pulled up to the pizza place and got out. We talked after ordering and while we ate. We headed back to school listening to music. He parked in his spot and put the top up.

"Do we have to go back?" I asked groaning. He laughed and put his head back against the seat.

"You want to skip class?" He asked.

"Are you asking or offering?" I asked smirking. He laughed again.

"I would say offering but I can't today. Maybe another day." He said smiling at me. I nodded and leaned back in the seat.

"I'll hold you to that." I said winking. He nodded. His phone beeped alerting us it was time to go back. I shook my head.

"You can go back. I'll stay here and nap." I told him. He laughed and hit the phone button. He got out and grabbed our bags. He came around, grabbed my hand and pulled me out.

"If I have to go to class so do you." He said pushing me to the steps. I huffed as he locked the car. We walked to our next class and sat down together. It felt oddly comfortable with Caleb. This was our routine for the next few weeks. Classes, lunch, classes again. Now here we were sitting in our last class of the day when he handed me a note. I opened it. It read, "Dinner tonight, with me?". I bit my lip and looked at him. I circled yes and folded it back and handed it to him. He opened it and smiled. The bell rung and we got dismissed.

"So how nice do I have to dress for tonight?" I asked gathering my stuff.

"Do you have a dress?" He asked. I looked at him.

"I'm sure I can find one." I said biting my lip.

"Wear it. I'll pick you up at your dorm room at 7." He said grinning. I nodded. He kissed my cheek quickly and left. I stood there frozen for a second. I shook my head and sighed. I was in deep trouble now. I went to my defensive class then went back to the door to search for a dress. Amy came in a few minutes later.

"What're you doing?" She asked as I searched the closets. I turned to her.

"I think I have a date with Caleb." I said biting my lip. She gasped then squealed loudly. She pushed me out of the way of the closet and pulled out a dress.

"I've been saving this one! Go shower!" She said excitedly. I groaned but went to shower. She slightly curled my hair, did light makeup, then handed me a pair of black high heels. The dress was low cut in the front, knee length, sleeveless dark green. She turned me to the mirror and squealed.

"Holy crap I look." I said.

"Stunning! Here it's almost seven. Is he coming to the door or meeting you out front?" She said handing me my bag.

"Dorm room I think." I said tapping my fingers. She was bouncing with excitement. I jumped when someone knocked on the door at exactly 7. I went to it and opened it. Caleb stood there in a blue button up shirt with the two coat deal, a tie, black jeans and shoes.

"Woah." He said looking me over.

"You looking pretty Woah yourself there." I said chuckling. He laughed.

"You ready?" He asked nervously. I nodded and grabbed my coat.

"Call if you're gonna be late!" Amy called out.

"We will." Caleb said. He held out his arm and I took it. We walked out to his car and he drove us to a nice restaurant. We talked, ate, laughed, and he knew the owner so he got us a glass or two of wine. We finished up and went for a walk in town. It was gorgeous out.

"Wow. This has been great night." I said as we walked.

"Well I'm glad you enjoyed it." He said smiling. He put his arm around me and I put mine around him. We headed for his car. He opened the door for me.

"Wanna head over to Nicky's for a bit? We still have some time to kill." He said biting his lip.

"If you want to, we can. I don't mind." I said nodding. He looked as if he was thinking about it then he stepped closer to me.

"Well we can go but with all the lurking eyes around, I wouldn't let you leave my side." He said huskily. I got that tingly feeling that always happened whenever he was close now. I bit my lip and placed my hands on his chest.

"Caleb." I said softly. He touched my cheek and I leaned into his hand. This felt different. This felt good to be with him.

"Bella." He whispered. I leaned up and kissed him. He sighed and kissed me back. I slid up my hands around his neck and pulled him closer. His arms wrapped around me and held me against him. We pulled away after a couple minutes to breathe.

"Damn." I said panting. He laughed and nodded.

"Damn is right." He said leaning his forehead against mine. He kissed me lightly before pulling away.

"Let's go okay?" He said nodding. I nodded and got in the car. He closed my door and came around. Once he got in and started up, he placed his hand on my knee. I looked at him and he smiled. I grabbed his hand and smiled back. We headed back to the dorm rooms.

"I had a really great time tonight." He said when he parked.

"I did too. It was perfect." I told him. I looked over at him and bit my lip.

"Wanna meet up at the coffee cart in the morning for coffee?" He asked me. I nodded.

"Sure. I'd like that." I said smiling. He grinned. He got out, came around and opened my door. I got out then he shut it. I was suddenly pinned and he was kissing me. I sighed and kissed him back. He moved us down to the hood where he lifted me up on it and stood between my legs. I wrapped my arms and legs around him as the kiss deepened. We sadly pulled away when we needed to breathe.

"I should get you to your room." He said panting. I nodded and kissed him again. He kissed back. We made out for a few more minutes. Thunder hit above us, making us jump apart. He pulled me off the car and we ran up the steps right before the rain fell. I laughed and looked at him. He touched my cheek.

"Let me walk you to your door." He said biting his lip. I nodded. We walked inside and up to my door.

"Thank you for tonight. I really did have a great time." I told him.

"Me too. We'll have to make it a weekly thing." He said grinning.

"Well of course." I said smirking. He laughed and grabbed my hand. He looked at our hands then back at me.

"I'll see you in the morning okay babe?" He said stepping closer. I nodded and closed the space between us. He leaned down and kissed me lightly. He pulled back and leaned his forehead against mine.

"Caleb." I said biting my lip.

"We'll talk in the morning about this. Give us time to think, okay?" He said nodding. I nodded and kissed him again. We pulled away then he walked off. I sighed and went into my room. I leaned against the door and smiled as I replayed the night in my head. I grabbed my bathroom stuff, went to shower, changed and went to bed when I got back.
