A few minutes later, all the racers had reached the first challenge.
"So much for taking the lead," said Crusher while pouting.
"Racers, the first challenge is to hit three moving targets with a lasso," said the challenge giver as she stood at a booth with several different shaped targets moved along a track.
"But only your human partners can use the lasso," she said.
"Too easy for the two of us," said Nova before making quick work of the targets.
"See you all later!" said Starla as they drove off.
"We're right behind you," said Blaze as he and the others also took out targets one by one till it was just Crusher and Bash left behind.
"Like catching fish in barrel," said Creg.
"We still have to work on your modern phrases, Creg," said Dill as they drove away from the booth.
"Ah, the others are already on their way!" wined Crusher while watching everyone else leaving the challenge area.
"This is not as easy as they make it look," said Bash while he kept missing the targets by a mile. Meanwhile, the others had all driven off and were back on the course.
"Woo-hoo!" said Watts as she did a backflip over everyone to take first place.
"Looks like Crusher and Bash cheated for nothing," said Stripes.
"Should we go back and help them?" asked Dill while taking a quick glance behind them with a worried expression.
"Nope, the two of them are alone in this race," said Pickle.
"But I'll make sure to be there for them no matter who wins later, I've even already made cards for either situation," he said.
"You're a good friend, Pickle," said Blaze.
"Thanks, now onto the second challenge!" said Pickle as he sped up.
