Look, to be honest, I just want to have one of each member of Team RWBY be the main protagonist of a fic on my profile, and since Blake's love life is an utter mess, why not go for my first explicitly harem fic! Not… explicit though. I want to keep my collection capped at Mature.
Based on The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You! And if you know anything about it, get ready for a wild ride! Let's start: They Really Really Really Really Really Love You, Blake!
New Game… Start!
Chapter 1: Checkmate, Ladybug!
Blake Belladonna was your typical cat faunus… apart from being part of a terrorist organization that used to protest for faunus rights until at some point it turned into human subjugation. D-Don't worry though, Blake wasn't a terrorist anymore.
Nope, she was a terrorist traitor, who had just defected from the White Fang and was now doing her very best to escape and lay low until she figured out her next move.
Oh, and she was pretty sure her now ex-boyfriend was not taking her defection all that well. Everyone in the White Fang weren't exactly the most stable of people, if they were willing to commit murder, destruction, vandalism and stuff.
Which was why she was in a backwater village, wandering around and doing her best to stay low. The people on the train weren't exactly forgiving after saving their lives (which she couldn't really blame since she did help hijack the train), so now she was here as a temporary hiding place. The village wasn't anything special with people living out meager but peaceful lives. Still more than able to defend itself from the occasional Grimm attack, but anything more and…
"...Being a huntress might not be a bad idea…" Blake thought as she wandered into a rather sacred-looking place. Actually, she kinda wasn't paying attention as she let herself think.
It was only when she finished her thoughts that she noticed where she was. "A shrine?" She whispered.
Yes, it was indeed a shrine. Actually, it was in stark contrast with the small village she was in. It was well-maintained, with trees with pink leaves fluttering around her. It looked straight out of one of her books, a perfect scene to confess one's love to and their eternal gratitude.
Blake looked around a little more and spotted a wooden sign. "The Shrine of the Love Goddess." She read out loud.
"So… finally, fate has guided you here."
"Huh?" Blake got out. She swore she just heard someone-
"I'm over here."
Blake looked down at the donation box.
"In front of you! Are you blind!?"
Blake looked up this time to see…
What… What was she seeing, exactly?
"Ah, you cannot comprehend my true form! Unfortunate, but let me…"
POOF!
"There you go."
Okay, now there was a proper description. She had long pink hair with blossoms braided in it, green eyes, large breasts that breasted boobily in the faint wind (her words, not mine), pink nail polish on her fingers and toes, and long flowing gown that showed off more cleavage than Dust crystals.
All in all… she looked like a MILF.
"I am the God of Love!" She declared. "Bow to me as I have decided to grace my presence in your lonely life!" She gazed down upon the mortal who looked… unamused.
"...No." Blake simply replied.
The quote-unquote God groaned. "Aw, come on, don't I look pretty? I put a lot of work into this body." (cough) rippingoffHahariHanazono (cough)
"Look, I've met some odd people. Someone claiming to be a god is not even in my Top 50." Blake said with a flat expression on her face.
"Well, can a normal weirdo do this!?" The supposed God proclaimed as she created a small rainbow above her head.
"With the right Semblance, yes."
The God of Love flinched. "Huh? Gah, curse this world! Making Semblance bullpucky is making this harder than it should be!"
"Do you run this shrine, or are you trying to scam me?" Blake soon asked, really wanting this conversation to be over.
"Neither. I am really the God of Love." The motherly-looking woman claimed. "And this world is sick and needs saving."
"Yes. I've heard that about a million times before." Blake said, rolling her eyes. "So how much money do you want?"
"I don't want money!" The God of Love snapped. She then paused. "...But if you could actually drop a few Lien in the box here, it would really help."
Blake took out her wallet and tossed in a few cards. "Can I go now?"
"No! I actually do need you, Blake Belladonna."
Okay, now that actually got her attention. At no point she actually said her name. "What do you want?"
The God of Love cleared her throat. "Well, ever since the Brother Gods abandoned Remnant, it has been slowly tearing itself apart inside and out. The war between light and darkness has done nothing but create more suffering to innocents and the pawns recruited in their game. It has not united humanity, and it never will. Not in this state. And seeing this lonely world… I just had to step in. I want everyone in this world to be happy, to be free from all this strife and fear. But to do that, we must find what is missing and fill it with something that will ensure that this world remains safe. I do not like the thought of this world disappearing in the ether. So, after putting my res-"
"Get on with it." Blake got out, looking more and more annoyed by the apparently practiced exposition dump she was getting.
"Okay, okay. Look. This world doesn't need to be ruled by darkness or light." The God of Love grumbled before taking a deep breath. "This world deserves something better, something more pure. This world… needs love!" She then declared, a giant glowing love heart appearing behind.
Blake looked unamused. "Love."
"Yes, love!" The God of Love continued. "Love is one of the greatest desires a person should have. It drives civilisations to do better, to be better! Love let's humanity conquer even the greatest challenges, even in the face of impossibility. Without love, without people to care for and care for you in return, life isn't worth living. That is why I - the God of Love - have chosen you, Blake Belladonna, as my champ– where are you going!?"
"Anywhere but here." Blake answered, having started walking about three sentences ago.
"Aw come on, I already chose you as my champion and everything! You're, like… the perfect fit. No other candidates! Besides, it takes a lot of-"
" I don't believe you. I don't care. I'm going. Good day."
"Ugh…" The God of Love soon groaned in annoyance before letting out a calming breath. "You know what? Understandable. The last gods left this place as a mess. But destiny will find a way, whether you want it to or not."
Blake rolled her eyes. Looks like this was gonna be a whole thing, so why not humor the supposed 'God'. "What makes you think I would be the perfect champion for you? I don't know if you know this, but I just broke up with my boyfriend because he was going to kill a lot of people for no reason. I'm not going to be involved with love for a very, very long time. Maybe never."
And then the God of Love… snorted. Like, she was stopping herself from laughing. "Oh, I very much doubt that." She said in an amused tone just as Blake began to turn.
Blake stopped. She let out a sigh before turning around, already regretting giving this person more of her time. "Okay, what is it?"
"Ahem." The supposed God cleared her throat once again. "Well, have you ever heard of soulmates?"
"Yes. Everyone except the youngest of children has heard of soulmates." Blake responded. "It's a person with whom one has a feeling of deep or natural affinity. It's in a bunch of romance novels. It's… nice to imagine it's real and that everyone is destined to meet them but… the real world isn't so magical."
"Good." The God of Love nodded, satisfied. "And it's all true. While not everyone has a soulmate, if you do, you will meet them. And you, Miss Belladonna, will meet them very, very soon."
Blake felt like if she rolled her eyes more, she'd snap the connections to her brain. "Wonderful. Is that all?"
"Well… no." The God of Love responded. "Okay, I've been stalling but here it goes… Miss Belladonna, you don't have one soulmate."
Blake blinked. For some reason, her stomach dropped. "...I don't have one."
"No no! It's… well, it's… sort of the opposite." The God of Love quickly corrected before looking a little… awkward.
"...What."
"Blake Belladonna, you don't just have one soulmate, you will have… A LOT OF THEM!"
"..." Blake stared at the God of Love.
"..."
"..."
"..." The God of Love stared back. She liked to think she was winning.
"...Not even a specific number? Just a lot?" Blake asked, unamused.
"To be honest, I forgot the number but it is at least more than three." The god soon admitted sheepishly. "Besides, Author-san isn't as crazy or as hardworking as Nakamura-sensei and Nozawa-sensei so he's not promising anything…"
"What?"
"Detail, details." The God of Love waved off the girl's confused look. "All you need to know is that once you begin fulfilling your destiny, you will meet your soulmates and fall in love. You should consider yourself very lucky."
Blake did not feel—in any shape, way, or form—lucky.
"When you meet someone with a compatible soul, a shock will come over you and you will feel an instant connection to them. Chase that feeling, nurture it. That is pure love, and as my champion, it will become your greatest power." The god concluded with a lovely smile.
"...I'm going now."
"H-Hold on, I should tell you that-"
"Goodbye." Blake said in a more forceful tone as she turned around and walked away, like she should've done in the first place. "Lunatic." She grumbled under her breath.
And so, Blake left, having neither gained or lost anything of importance other than the limited time she had on this Grimm-infested world.
Eventually, in-between hiding and enrolling into Beacon Academy, Blake shoved the entire experience into the back of her mind. She had other, more important goals to keep in mind, after all.
In no way in the near future that this would bite her in the Bellabooty.
It is now the near future and her Bellabooty has remained unbitten.
It was actually shockingly easy to get to Vale and get enrolled into Beacon. Sure, she had to live in a crappy shack in the middle of a Grimm-infested forest for longer than she would like, but it all worked out. The entrance exam was a breeze, it was nothing she hadn't experienced before when she was in the White Fang, and her parents were okay with her suddenly going to Vale and being a huntress.
Sure, she was a little worried someone would recognise her and sell her out, but overall she was in a good place all things considered.
No longer were she to use her skills for senseless violence. From today onwards, Blake Belladonna will be using her skills to help people, like the White Fang should be doing… just through tons of focused violence.
But it was against the Grimm, so she considered that marginally better.
And today was her first day at Beacon Academy, one of the most prestigious schools to grace the Four Kingdoms. For the next four years, she will be spending her time training and reading… and, um…
Look, after her last relationship and severing a lot of bonds, she wasn't exactly enthused with making connections with other people just yet. She liked being alone right now, with a good book in hand and the time and space to read it. She knew that she'll have to be in a team and she would have to get to know people eventually, but she was going to to and remain single for as long as she-
BOOM!
…can. "What was that?" Blake thought as she looked up from her book. It was at that moment a bottle rolled to her feet. Picking it up, a flash of anger (and a little worry) rushed through her as she recognised the symbol.
The SDC. Schnee Dust Company.
"Unbelievable! This is exactly the kind of thing I was talking about!"
"I'm really, really sorry!"
Looking over, she spotted two very sooty girls fighting with each other. Well, more like one was yelling, the other was profusely apologizing.
The one yelling. Definitely Weiss Schnee: current heiress to the SDC.
Well, she might as well help out the girl in red. She looked like she needed a little backup. Besides, she always wanted to tell a Schnee to their face how absolutely terrible their company was to her people.
And so, she headed over, waiting for her cue to enter and deal the most emotional damage possible. "This isn't your ordinary combat school. It's not just sparring and practice, you know! We're here to fight monsters, so... watch where you're going!" Weiss Schnee continued to scream at the poor girl, focusing only on her for now.
It was right then that the red cloaked girl finally got fed up. "Hey, I said I was sorry, princess!"
And time for the ambush.
"It's heiress, actually." Blake spoke up. "Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, one of the largest producers of energy propellant in the world."
"Finally! Some recognition!" Weiss smugly said as both she and the dolt turned to the third party at the same time.
And then, their eyes met.
"The same company infamous for its controversial labor forces-"
ZIIIIIIIING!
Blake froze on the spot, staring at the heiress and the younger girl. Everything around faded away as she felt a shock run through her body. Looking at these two cute, wonderful girls… It felt like she had known them all her life, but at the same time didn't know anything about them at all. Both her ears could hear singing from the heavens as her heart started to thump against her chest. She felt at peace, she felt… addicted.
This… This couldn't be happening, right? This sort of thing only happened in books! There was no way this was…
"Love at first sight." They all thought at the same time.
…That being said, from the outsider's perspective, they just looked like lost idiots, doing nothing but standing around.
"…and questionable business partners." Blake managed to get out, losing all her air of coolness she tried to exude.
"Uh-huh." Weiss responded numbly.
"I… I…" Ruby stammered out as a hot red blush appeared on her face. "D-Did anyone f-f-f-f-feel… erm…"
Weiss turned to the little girl who totally caused the earlier explosion, saw her face, and enacted a plan in only two seconds.
The heiress suddenly cried out in pain, getting both Blake and the red cloaked girl's attention. "Oh dearie me, it seems this complete and utter nincompoop has managed to sprain my ankle with her reckless use of my very expensive Dust, that will need to be given away to a dear, dear friend. I may need help to get to the welcoming ceremony…"
"...!" Ruby's silver eyes widened. That sneaky little… sneaky person! Two can play at that game! "O-Owie! Ow! M-My foot! H-Help me, kind stranger! It looks like she stomped on my foot while you weren't looking! But I want to go to the ceremony! Guess you'll have to help me and not the princess who can get her bodyguards to carry her…" She then got out, holding onto her "sore" foot (making sure to copy Zwei's puppy dog eyes when he pees on the floor and wants forgiveness).
Now, to anyone such as hot-blooded males who were at least one bad touch from a sex offender registry, awkward teens who were just experiencing anyone showing attraction to them, or love-obsessed monsters, they would fall for such a trick or take advantage of it.
Not Blake though. She was none of those.
"What was that? What was that!? That shock. That wonderful shock that went through my body. Have I been struck by lightning? Have I been shot? No no no, you're still breathing Blake. You're still breathing. You're just unsure because you're in the presence of two gorgeous and wonderful ladies that couldn't possibly exist on Remnant because this world is too cruel for them. What should I do? What do I do? I wanted to make fun of Weiss Schnee but she seems so elegant and great that I want to rip out my vocal chords in penance. And this girl… red cloak, silver eyes, goth. She's so cute that I would buy all the marketable plushies and toys that would be released! If they get unreleased, I'll even go and rob them myself and break out of prison every time there's a new release! They're obviously faking it but I can't tear my eyes away from them and leave. Why are they doing this? Why do they want my help with my unwashed and impure hands? They're both so cute that I want to keep them and hug them and kiss them and eat them and love them and marry them and read all the smut about them and ohdearBrothersamIhavingaheartattackbecauseIdon'twanttoleaveyetandleavethesegirlsunhelpedandunlovedandwaitwhatamIthinkingamIgoingcrazyandwowthesegirlsaresosososososososososososocute!"
She was worse.
"Um, are you okay?" One of them asked in concern, wondering why she was frozen for five minutes.
"YesnofinegoodterribleIwannadiecool." Blake… uh, erm… (shrugs).
The two of them both shook off their soot on their faces and clothing and grabbed onto Blake's arms.
"It seems this brat has somehow managed to also hurt you." Weiss accused as she glared at the younger girl.
"No I didn't! It's all your fault, you uppity snob!" Ruby called out. "Come on, let's head to the ceremony together." She then decided as she pulled on the poor cat's arm.
"No, she's coming with me!" Weiss responded as she pulled Blake's other arm in the opposite direction.
Seeing that Blake didn't have stretchy arms, they didn't go that far.
"Girls, stop!" Blake called out. "I like having arms in my sockets!"
"Ah!" The two girls yelped as they pushed Blake's arms back towards her body, even though they still didn't let go.
"See what you did, dolt!?" Weiss growled.
"What I did!? You started it!" Ruby countered. "That seems to be a real trend with you. You better let go before you hurt my new friend!" She then suggested.
"I'm not letting go of my new partner!" Weiss insisted.
"Wait, when did that…?" Blake spoke up in confusion while Ruby and Weiss kept bickering.
"You let go first!" The heiress called out.
"No, you let go first!" The red cloaked girl yelled back.
Weiss soon growled. They were getting nowhere with this. "Well, if neither of us are letting go, I guess we're both going to the ceremony with her then."
"It seems we are."
Blake's eyes widened. "W-Wait, hold on…"
"Don't worry, we'll take care of you." Ruby and Weiss both assured in much kinder tones than they used with each other, snuggling into her chest as they began walking.
Blake suddenly felt as though her butt had been bitten by some invisible force, but she couldn't rub it because of the two girls she had just met wrapped around her arms, preventing her from doing anything else as they headed to their destination.
Meanwhile, some guy who vomited in the trash can went the other way, having noticed none of it, and was now going away from the auditorium where first years were supposed to meet… Although, someone with red hair went to gladly get him back on the right track.
Blake had been in Beacon for all of twenty minutes, and already she wanted to crawl into the nearest hole and hide until humanity perished from the world.
But that would mean losing the warmth of these girls, and to be honest, she didn't have the willpower to do so even under the threat of death.
And while Blake was having a silent war with herself while also dealing with a silent panic attack, Ruby and Weiss were waging their own silent war as they glared at each other while walking to the auditorium.
"T-This prissy princess! She's trying to take away a potential new super best friend! Well, I can't let her! I need to get her away from Miss Fussy Britches so we can be Super BFFs!"
"This airheaded brat! How dare she try and get in the way of my new partner! Well, I can't let her! I know that Beacon requires every student to have one, and she's the absolute most perfect one just from her looks."
"I won't let that princess/dolt steal her away!" Ruby and Weiss declared in their minds, clutching onto Blake even tighter.
The girl in question, however, was having much more different thoughts. "Losing… blood to my arms…"
"You know, we should really get to know each other. After all, we're all first years, aren't we?" Weiss soon spoke with a false sweet smile.
"Yeah. I agree. We should all get to know each other… as future classmates." Ruby responded with the same expression.
The next few seconds would be completely lost to Blake, considering she was barely conscious.
"I'm Ruby Rose, I-"
"-you already know, I'm the heiress to-"
"-I got in two years early because I stopped a robbery-"
"-I'm so rich I could buy us 13 airships-"
"-Wanna see Crescent Rose? She's totally-"
"-Cannot be replicated as Myrtenaster-"
"-And I don't yell at people-"
"-I'm not a dolt-"
"You shut your mouth!"
"You shut your mouth!"
"Grrrrrrrrr…!"
Wow, they growled better than even some lion faunus! And… she found that way too cuuuu… wait, WHAT WAS HAPPENING!? HOW DID SHE END UP LIKE THIS!?
"B-Both of you, stop!" Blake suddenly exclaimed, snapping the two girls out of their fight. "Um, Ruby, Weiss. Please calm down here."
"She started it!" The bickering girls yelled out.
"Please!" Blake insisted, causing the other two girls to flinch. "Let's all take a deep breath. We've only just met, so let's try again."
Ruby and Weiss looked at each other, both feeling rather guilty. "O-Okay." the red cloaked girl agreed.
"Sure." The heiress responded with a nod before they both took calming breaths.
"See? Is that better?" Blake pointed out, breathing out in relief as she saw that it calmed them down.
"Yeah, it does!" Ruby admitted.
"Thank youuuuuu…" The white clad girl began, when she suddenly trailed off. Ruby and Weiss's eyes slowly widened in horror as they realized one crucial thing.
What was her name again?
It was at that moment Blake felt that the two girls had let go of their arms, frozen on the spot when they realized their horrible, horrible mistake.
"I've been so rude all this time and I didn't even know it. I have shamed my family." Weiss mumbled in a hollow tone, the lights in her eyes vanishing and turning a dull blue.
"I'mb sowwy…" Ruby whimpered, looking just about on the edge of crying as she silently cursed her lack of social skills. "You gan gill me if you want…"
Blake squeaked before quickly regaining her composure. She had been stunned for so long, it was time to take back control of her spiraling love life (oh dear Gods she had a love life again). "It's Blake. My name is Blake Belladonna."
Both girls snapped out of their depressed states and grinned delightfully, speaking at the same time. "My name is-"
"I know your names already." Blake quickly stated, hoping to cut off any more of their… thing that was happening. "Ruby and Weiss. It's… nice to meet you both." She cooly added.
"Hghn!" The two girls' hearts throbbed, as if struck by a burning arrow (full of love, you jerks).
"I-It's nice to meet you too, Blake." Ruby said, giving the cat faunus a bright smile that practically blinded her with how sweet it looked.
"A pleasure." Weiss got out, giving the cat faunus a serene look that made her feel like the prince of the castle.
"Hghn!" And with that, Blake knew she was doomed.
Suddenly, they heard a voice. "Ruby! Over here! I saved you a spot!"
Oh, right. They didn't notice (being all distracted and all), but they made it to the auditorium.
Weiss looked over to the source of the voice and saw a girl with long blonde hair waving over. "Oh, is that a friend of yours?" The heiress assumed, looking a little smug. "You better go over to her."
"Sister." Ruby corrected with a sigh. It seems like this was a common occurrence.
"She doesn't look like your sister." Weiss remarked.
"Half sister." Ruby then added with an annoyed groan. "Don't you have other friends you want to be with?"
Weiss quickly began to sputter, her smug expression wiped off her face. "W-Well, they're… all at another school."
"Suuuuuuuuure."
"Can we just- ack!" Blake began to speak, only for Weiss and Ruby to hold her arms again. "Whyyy…" She then whined.
And, if things couldn't get any worse, the blonde came over having gotten impatient. "Yo, what's the hold uuuuup…?" She began, only to notice the two other girls with her little sister… particularly the black clad one who looked like she was seeing past her. "Er, Ruby? Who're they? New friends already?"
"Yang, this is Weiss. She made me explode when you left me." Ruby succinctly answered, not tearing her eyes away from her opponent like the good monster hunter she was.
"Yikes! Meltdown already?" Yang winced.
"No, I literally exploded a hole in front of the school! And there was some fire, and I think some ice. You had to be there."
"You're lucky we weren't blown off the side of the cliff!" Weiss growled.
"Oh my God, I thought you were being sarcastic." Yang got out in a deadpan tone before looking over to the… admittingly cat-like girl. "And… who's this? And why are you holding onto her like Crescent Rose after losing her at the bottom of a lake?"
Ruby instantly went from hateful glaring to happy eagerness. "This is Blake Belladonna, my super new super best friend! And this is my wonderful sister, Yang Xiao Long."
"New friend, huh." Yang got out, sounding a little suspicious.
She has never actually seen Ruby act like this before, it was extremely out of character for her dorky little sister to act so… clingy.
There were a lot of Semblances out in the world. Some used for good, others to pick up gullible chicks from the bar. And right now, this is starting to look like the latter… "So, you're Ruby's new friend, huh? It's only been a couple of minutes since we got here." She spoke, sounding like she was interrogating the object of Ruby's affections.
"Uh… Uh…"
And now Yang's suspicion meter was beginning to rise the most that the girl didn't meet her eyes. In actuality, Blake was looking downwards at her…
"Hey, stop looking at my gauntlets. My eyes are up here."
As much as Blake really wanted to look up, her body's natural instinct to live prevented her from meeting the eyes of the older sister who would likely punch her out as soon as she did.
"I could just have a clone take my place and run. That's an option." Blake soon thought in a frantic manner.
Wait, why didn't she think of that earlier-
"Mmm… you're so warm, Blake…" Ruby mumbled as she rubbed her soft cheek against her shoulder.
"Yes… I wish you were around in Atlas…" Weiss breathed out as she did the same.
"...Did I say it was an option? I meant, what clones? I don't have clones." Blake silently decided.
"H-Hello? Ruby? My hair literally goes on fire." Yang futility and lamely reminded her sister.
It was around that point Professor Ozpin and Glynda Gooodwitch made their way onto the stage and began the opening ceremony.
Blake hadn't listened to the long and somewhat depressing speech though. Nope, she was focusing one hundred percent on not looking at anyone, resisting looking at Weiss or Ruby, and ignoring Ruby's sister glaring at her, hoping to set her on fire (which, given the heat she was giving off, was a real possibility).
Once the speech was finished, Glynda informed the Beacon hopefuls that they were free to explore the school until curfew, where they would head to the ballroom to sleep.
"He seemed kind of... off." Yang remarked.
"It's almost like he wasn't even there." Ruby agreed with a nod.
"Yeah, like your new friend." Her sister then pointed out.
"Huh?" The two girls got out before looking over to Blake, who looked totally out of it, her mind probably in Remnant's impenetrable stratosphere.
"Ah! Blake! What's wrong!?" Weiss exclaimed.
"If I had to guess, you've been holding onto her for the entire ceremony and now her arms are turning purple." Yang answered as she kept her eye on the girl.
"Ah, I'm so sorry!" Ruby instantly exclaimed as the two of them let go of Blake. "Come on, Blake, let's head outside. That'll make you feel better."
"Let me do it!"
"I already have her."
"Someone help me…" Blake begged as she led out of the auditorium against her will, all while Yang and several other students stared in confusion.
"This is definitely karma for leaving Ruby alone…" Yang soon mumbled under her breath.
She'll definitely need to keep an eye on this Blake Belladonna…
Once Blake made it back outside, it did make her feel better. She was starting to think a lot more clearly. Unfortunately, it seems she was still stuck in-between Ruby and Weiss' little competition for her attention, and it didn't seem like it was going to end anytime soon.
"We have some time to check the school out before we head to the ballroom." Ruby informed as she checked her Scroll before glancing over to the car faunus. "Blake, do you want to-"
"Hold on! I actually thought ahead and brought a map of the entire campus with me." Weiss interrupted, practically shoving Ruby out of the way of Blake's vision. "I can help you memorize key locations and areas of interest. For example, Beacon's extensive library!"
"Library?" Blake got out, interest peaked..
Weiss smirked. Bullseye.
Ruby quickly recovered from getting her spotlight stolen and shoved Weiss back. "I-I know where the cafeteria is! We could probably grab some food i-if there is any. I can take you there lickity-split! I heard on the way here that tuna melt was being served if you stop by."
Blake swallowed as her stomach growled. "Oh I love tuna…"
Weiss scoffed. "No you can't!"
Ruby smirked as she jerked her thumb over her shoulder. "Want to see me run to that tree and back?" Then, in a flutter of rose petals, she disappeared and reappeared in under a second. "You want to see me do it again?"
Weiss opened and closed her mouth before gritting her teeth. "You'll kill her with that speed."
"It's better than a tour we'll get when me and Blake pass." Ruby argued as they leaned in close to the point where their noses were nearly touching.
"It's Blake and I!" Weiss corrected… well, at least, that's what it seemed to be.
Blake didn't want a flat out fight to start between the two other huntresses, so she finally decided to step in. "Stop! Now!"
Hearing their target of affect yell, they both froze. "Blake?" Ruby and Weiss said cautiously, hoping they didn't anger the black clad girl too much.
The cat faunus soon let out a breath. "There's enough time to hang out with the both of you individually. How about I take one of you, walk around campus for an hour or two, then switch. Will that suffice?" Blake soon suggested.
Weiss looked a little skeptical though. "That sounds…"
"Great!" Ruby interrupted with a happy smile, already at Blake's side. "I'll go first then."
Flustered, Weiss stomped her foot and glared at the younger girl. "You dolt, stop it. Let us decide who goes first fairly."
Ruby narrowed her eyes. "On what decision?"
"...I'll let you decide. To ensure we both don't try and cheat." Weiss responded.
"Hmm… I accept those terms." Ruby nodded as she readied herself. "It is now time for the ancient practice, the great decision maker that has lasted over the centuries!" She dramatically declared as she held out her fist.
"I see how it is." Weiss replied as she held out her own. "On three."
"What is going on…?" Blake thought. Was she drugged this morning…?
"THREE!" Weiss suddenly shouted out as both girls showed their hands.
Rock. Paper.
Weiss' knees shook before she went to the ground. "NOOOO!" She called out in despair. How could she lose so easily!?
"YAY!" Ruby cried just as joyously, leaping at least five feet into the air from her victory over the heiress. "Let's go Blake!"
Blake could only whimper as she was dragged off by the surprising strong younger girl.
"I swear on this day, Ruby Rose, that I will have my revenge!" Weiss mentally promised as she watched the two girls head off.
"So…" Some unimportant person with blond hair and blue eyes spoke up as he slid in from behind the heiress. "Do you wanna-"
"Go away. Or I will stab you."
"Okay, see you later." With that, the wannabe casanova backed off as smoothly as he walked in… until he tripped and knocked himself out cold.
His red haired companion could only facepalm and sigh.
Blake felt guilty as she finished her third tuna melt, making sure to toss the wrapper into the nearest trash bin (as she was a former terrorist, not an irresponsible monster).
Sue her, she hadn't had a decent meal since arriving in Vale and it was off season for fish. Just goes to show that academies spared no expense in taking care of the next generation because today's students were tomorrow's soldiers of war against an unrelenting and unending force with a high likelihood of a very, very painful death and very little to bury.
Wow, she needs to read happier books.
Anyways, throughout her entire lunch in the cafeteria, she noticed Ruby staring at her all throughout, turning away when she looked in her direction, attempting to casually sip her strawberry milkshake.
It was hard not to notice considering she was sitting right across from her.
"Uugh, why does everything she says and does make her more adorable…?" Blake thought, her body thankfully hiding her mind's wild thoughts.
It was a serious problem. No matter what she did — like stumbling or talking or laughing or geeking out or staring at her lovingly while eating lunch — It made her heart beat faster and faster. If she had a heart attack because of this, she would completely understand and die happy.
And then fight her way back to life because no way she was allowing Ruby to believe it was her fault she died.
It was very obvious that both Ruby and Weiss were crushing on her. That was a serious problem because she was seriously crushing on them too. And it had only been, what, a few hours at best since she met them? It was… asinine!
It was… scary.
Blake wanted to run. To hide away from these girls until they left her alone. It worked once, she could do it again if she had to.
But… her gut was telling her to stay. Her body wouldn't even entertain moving away from them. Her mind, as frazzled as it was, was telling her to be with them.
And her heart? It beat and throbbed with joy just by being near them.
All of this… and she didn't have a single clue why. She never felt this way with anyone before, especially Adam. Was she forgetting something?
(Yes.)
Was there just something about them that made her feel this way?
(Yes.)
Did it have to be on her first day?
(YES.)
She needed to approach this with the lightest and most gentle of touches. She wasn't looking for a relationship right now (despite how tempting it was currently), so all she needed to do was set them down as peacefully and painlessly as possible.
Blake could do this. She was in a relationship before. She was in love once… with a psychopath… and ran away… and now that she thought about it, she couldn't think of a single positive trait or why she even liked him to begin with…
Scratch that. That was a terrible example. but Blake could still do this, though! She's read tons of books on romance! It was her favorite genre after all. She could definitely… wait, most of her books usually end soon after "I love you"... or sex… lots and lots of sex…
Oh God, did she not know anything about real romance!? How did she not realize it until now!?
"Blake?" A very cute voice broke through Blake's thoughts, returning her to reality.
"Hm?"
"Are you paying attention?" Ruby asked with furrowed brows.
"Uh. No, sorry." Blake responded in an apologetic tone. "I was just… thinking."
"About what?"
About how adorable you are.
About how elegant Weiss is.
How she was hopelessly attracted to them.
How she was freaking out over how to resolve this citation without hurting anyone (or herself for that matter).
These were Blake's honest thoughts but, as composed as she looked right now, she was actually scrambling for another, less lovestruck/desperate question.
"Why are you here, Ruby? Aren't you a little… young to go to Beacon?"
Blake settled on the most obvious question.
"Yes. Yes, I am." Ruby nodded. "But I guess you didn't hear me before. Probably because Weiss interrupted me." She then grumbled with a pout.
"You were interrupting each other with your stereo introduction."
"Well, have you heard about that Dust robbery in town?"
"Perpetrated by Roman Torchwick, a famous thief." Blake recalled before seeing Ruby's somewhat proud expression. "Wait, you got involved in that?"
"Yup! I wanted to stop him before he got away, but I needed Professor Goodwitch to bail me out. She gave me her autograph though!" Ruby happily informed before deflating a little. "A-After I left the police station…"
"You were arrested?"
"Vigilantism. I don't really know what that word is but it's a stupid crime." Ruby sighed while shaking her head. "Those robbers were going to hurt an old man. I couldn't let that happen."
"Well… I'm glad you did." Blake admitted, smiling at the younger girl. "Not everyone, even hunters, try and help when they can."
Ruby blinked, her silver eyes shining in the sunlight. "What? They don't?"
"...No. Sadly."
"Why don't they?" Ruby asked with a frown. "They have the weapons, they have the Aura. They can help. That's what all the heroes in the stories do."
"They can help, and they should, but there are plenty of people who don't." Blake answered. "There are many reasons why they won't or can't, but… there are those who would rather stand by and watch."
"Blake?"
"Huh?" Blake blinked and shook her head. "I-I'm sorry. Just…"
"You haven't had people help you before, have you?" Ruby guessed.
"N-No, not at all. I've had plenty of help." Blake replied in a mutter. "It's just… When I needed help the most, there was no one that would do so. You can't wait for heroes to save the day all the time. Sometimes, all you can do is help yourself."
"Isn't that why we're here though?" Ruby pointed out. "To be those heroes to save the day?"
"It's part of the job description, but not everyone is here to be one." Blake then stated.
"Why are you here then?" Ruby soon asked, stunning the cat faunus.
"Huh?"
"Why are you here at Beacon becoming a huntress?"
Blake could feel her cat ears twitch, trying to flatten against her scalp but her bow wouldn't let it. "It's… complicated."
"Oh, come on, I promise to keep it a secret." Ruby pleaded so damn cutely that her resistance crumbled in a second.
"...I want to do more good in the world than all the bad I did." Blake answered.
"Hey, that's not so bad."
"You don't know what I've done."
"But you're here now. You'll make for it soon enough."
Ruby then let out a sweet smile that Blake couldn't tear her eyes away from. It was… comforting, nice… something she hadn't seen in years.
"Ruby… What do you like about me?" Blake had to ask.
Ruby instantly began to glow red in the face, instinctively averting her gaze. "Huh? W-W-What do you mean?"
"We've known each other for a whole… hour, maybe two. And yet you've been clinging to me all that time."
"I-I just… erm… I…"
"No, it's okay. I don't mind as long as I can feel my arm." Blake quickly waved off, unconsciously rubbing the arm Ruby had cut off circulation to. "But still… Why me?"
Ruby swallowed. She couldn't run from this. "Well… You're so… cool, and calm, and… pretty. I never really felt this way with anyone else before. I was usually too busy with Crescent Rose to really pay attention."
It took Blake a few seconds to figure out who Crescent Rose was. "...Your weapon."
"Yep!" Ruby nodded as she unfurled her weapon and placed it on the table between them.
THUD!
"...That's a big scythe." Blake couldn't help but say.
"It's also a customizable high-impact sniper rifle!" Ruby added.
"It's… amazing." Blake then admitted. It was the truth. She had never seen a weapon so complicated before.
"Hey, your weapon is amazing too." Ruby stated. "It looks really cool too! Can I see it?"
"Sure." Blake nodded as she pulled out Gambol Shroud and placed it on the table as well.
"Wow~ It's like five weapons in one!"
"I prefer to be adaptable, think and act fast." Blake got out with a smile, casually switching between her weapon modes to show off a little.
"So cool~" Ruby squealed. "9mm rounds, custom pistol grip, tear-resistant ribbons, highly complex but user-friendly when you get down to it! Ooh, but from the looks of it, you used Type 409 for the blade. Nice for a first version, but you can probably get better sharpness and cutting power if you made it out of Type 440C. And I'll give you a list of my favorite greases to make the mecha-shift mechanism smoother and faster. If you ask me, go for Mr. Squeaky-brand lube."
Blake stared at Ruby in disbelief. It had only been ten seconds since she properly laid her eyes on her weapon. "You can tell all that just by sight?"
Ruby awkwardly chuckled, blushing. "I'm a little bit of a weapon nut. Crescent Rose today is the result of years and years of modding, fine-tuning, and lots of TLC. She's perfect already but she could always be perfect-er." She then replied as she hugged her scythe.
Blake forced down a gushing whimper as she saw Ruby's eyes sparkle with delight. She really loved everything about weapons. "Wow. No wonder you managed to get into Beacon early…"
"Well, you can thank my Uncle Qrow. He practically taught everything I knew." Ruby said before looking away. "I just… didn't think I'd be that good though…" She then mumbled under her breath.
"While I haven't seen you in action yet, that fact that you're here in the first place says a lot about you."Blake got out with a shake of her head. She didn't know why she said it, but… she couldn't stand seeing the other girl like that. "Beacon is one of the greatest schools in the Kingdoms. You aren't here because of an accident."
"Any store could've been robbed that night." Ruby mumbled. "If I didn't decide to go to Vale for a present for Yang, I'd be at home with my dad. At least in Patch I wouldn't be so… so alone…"
"Alone?"
"None of my friends are here. I'm the youngest student to attend Beacon ever. I got in from a recommendation from Professor Ozpin, the headmaster of the entire academy!" Ruby suddenly let out, surprising the cat faunus. "I-I was excited but when I finally got here… I was scared. I was alone! My own sister ditched me! I… I thought I was going to be alone for the next four years."
"That's… That would never happen."
The red cloaked girl sighed with a sad expression. "Please. I was never going to be a normal girl to anyone else here. I just want normal knees!" Ruby stated, although that last part made Blake befuddled by what that meant. "But… then you came. You listened to me while I geeked out just now. You… You went to help me when Weiss was yelling at me — for the explosion that she totally caused — when no one else did."
"I had my reasons." Not exactly innocent reasons either.
"You said that not everyone helps even though they have the power, right? Well, you did. You're a really good person, Blake."
Blake swallowed. Again, she was experiencing something she hadn't felt in years.
"When you came over, I felt something… special. Like… we were always destined to meet." Ruby then continued. "Hehehe… it's funny. I remember my dad telling me that he felt a shock when he and my mom first locked eyes. Didn't really believe it until now."
"R-Really?"
"Yeah. But… he didn't fall in love with her until his first wife… Yang's mom… left him."
Blake winced. "Oh…"
"But that's okay. He got to feel real love… at least for a while." Ruby then added with a soft smile. "That's why I love my family so much. It's because of them it's why I'm here." "My parents for teaching me to be like the heroes in those fairy tales and make them real… my Uncle Qrow for training me… my big sister for helping and encouraging me every step of the way."
"...Well, add me to the list now." Blake suddenly declared.
"Huh?"
Blake soon got off her seat and sat next to the red cloaked girl, making her blush harder than before as she felt her thighs touch hers. She then realized Blake was staring right into her eyes, their faces almost touching. "Ruby, you really should believe in yourself more. Okay, I admit, you're a little awkward and… a little aggressive, but make no mistake: you're here because you deserve to be here. And… if you really can't believe in yourself, let me do the believing for you. You're young, but you have more potential than anyone else here. Including me."
"B-Blake?"
"Yes, Ruby."
"I… I really like you." Ruby confessed before placing her head on her shoulder. "Don't… Don't forget about me if you choose Weiss. I really want to be your friend."
"...I would never." Blake replied as they stayed there for as long as they could.
Although they couldn't spend the rest of the day with each other, Ruby wanted to make sure she got everything she could from her first love.
Blake's time with Ruby was… pleasant. It helped organize her thoughts and let her relax for a while, simply enjoying the company of another until they had to end their time together. It was great.
But now, she had to deal with Weiss.
Oh Brothers, this was so awkward. Here she was, a representation of a lot of her hatred over the past five years and Blake couldn't bring herself to even frown at her.
When she thought about this day, when she talked about it with Ilia… well, for one thing, it would be classified as Mature at the bare minimum, and it involved saying and doing a lot of very cruel things to her.
It was all hypothetical! She never expected to actually meet a Schnee personally. She would never do such things in real life.
U-Unless she was into that kind of thing. Then… maybe…
"Ahhh!" Blake mentally screamed as she began spraying herself with an imaginary water bottle. "Bad! Bad Blake! Don't even go there! We haven't even kissed yet!"
The fact that she was even thinking about kissing Weiss (and by extension, Ruby) was seriously worrying.
And so now, here she was, at a nice quiet corner of the library. It wasn't particularly packed today, with only about ten or so students milling around. Now, Blake would've loved to grab a book and read but for some reason, she hadn't gotten one yet.
Neither did Weiss. In all honesty, reading was the furthest from their minds.
"So… how are you liking Beacon Academy?" Blake began, making sure to keep things quiet.
"It's… adequate on initial impressions." Weiss responded, almost off-handedly.
"I mean, you did get blown up on the first day." Blake let out a wry smile.
"And yelled at by a child." Weiss sighed. "But… I made a dear friend, so that makes up for that little incident." She then added, grinning at the black clad girl.
"Right…"
"The weather is a lot better too." Weiss then added. "It's always so cold back home. Even in summer, the ground can be rather frosty."
Blake shivered empathetically. "But… there has to be something you like better at home than here."
"We have a better military, we have many more advancements than any other Kingdom, and we have much better access to Dust."
"Why aren't you attending Atlas Academy then?" Blake then questioned with a raised eyebrow.
Weiss flinched. It was subtle, but Blake was able to pick it up instantly. "Well, I just… needed to get away from Atlas." She said, waving it off. "I want to see what the rest of the world has to offer, outside of its walls."
"...You're lying."
Weiss flinched again. She was awfully easy to read. "I… I don't understand what you mean."
"Most people don't travel across the world to go to school. All the academies have great education, and Atlas rivals Beacon in that." Blake informed. "Also… I thought you'd like to be near your family, and yet you haven't even mentioned them yet. So talk."
Weiss turned away, looking conflicted before letting out a sigh. "I… I wasn't lying… but I am omitting something. I just… need to get away from my father."
"Jacques Schnee, the CEO."
Weiss grimaced. "Yes, that is what he wants everyone to call him."
"You don't like him, do you?" Understatement of the century, brought to you by Blake Belladonna.
"I… I don't know how I feel." Weiss responded in a small voice. "He is my father, but… I don't think he sees me as his daughter."
"A tool." Blake realized, the word tasting bitter in her mouth.
"...Yes," Weiss nodded. "My older sister, Winter… she was supposed to be the heiress but she gave it all up to be a Specialist. So, when it fell to me… I realized why she left. You'd get everything you would want, but in exchange you had to be everything he would want."
Anger began to grip at Blake's heart. "Does that involve you being a huntress?"
"No." Weiss replied, her scarred eye unconsciously twitching.
Even more anger began to ignite in her heart.
"So, that's why I'm here instead of Atlas. Even if it's only for a while, I get to be away from him and see the world a little more." Weiss concluded before releasing a breath. "And… I'm really glad I could be here." She then added, blushing a little as she looked directly at Blake.
While that did cause the cat faunus to shy away, she did come to a realization she didn't think she'd ever come to. "...You're a runaway like me…"
"Excuse me?"
"N-Nothing." Blake shook her head.
Weiss still looked sad after that. Did Blake not trust her? "I'm… sorry for how I acted back there."
"It's fine. You did blow up."
"It's that dolt's fault." Weiss grumbled with a pout. "Beacon needs to up their standards to avoid such incidents."
"She says it's your fault for waving Dust around." Blake reminded. "But she bumped into your luggage first. Let's… just call it an unfortunate accident."
"An accident implies that no one is at fault. And it was definitely-"
"Weiss." Blake said in a firm manner.
"...I will accept that." Weiss concluded.
"...Weiss, why are you spending so much time and effort to be with me?"
"Why wouldn't I?" Weiss replied a lot more readily than Blake was expecting. "You're exactly the type of person I need in my life. I need someone who isn't afraid to speak their mind. Someone who knows a lot about the world and… can teach me more about it."
"I called your company terrible."
"I-It is." Weiss soon admitted. In all actuality, she sort of forgot about that. "It's not like I'm not aware of it. I've seen the news pieces and the investigations. With so many… at least some of them have to be true."
"And… your feelings towards the faunus workers who suffered?" Blake had to ask.
"...I admit, I don't feel any sympathy…" Weiss soon admitted. "I…I can't help it. I know it's not every faunus' fault but… with the White Fang, it's more than the loss of money and Dust. I lost friends because of them!"
"...What?"
"I can't fight these feelings I have. When my father was angry, my life got worse, so why should I feel sorry?" Weiss then explained. "...Ugh, it sounds terrible. I know. There are plenty of faunus servants who are nice despite what I feel, but… I just want someone, something to pay."
"It's easier to treat them like Grimm." Blake summarized. "Because if you don't, what does that make you?"
"Yes." Weiss nodded somberly. It was weird, she didn't think she would ever talk to someone she just met about her true feelings and thoughts before but… with Blake, she felt like she was free to speak her mind. It was liberating. Strange, but liberating.
She was actually a little glad that someone understood her. Everyone thought being rich, famous, and having your every need attended to made no room for complaints, but all things came at a cost.
Nothing was free in this world.
"Just like how I saw the SDC a quite some time ago…"
Blake choked. She hadn't meant to say that out loud.
"Eh?"
Seeing that there was no other choice, Blake quickly looked around, checking for anyone else looking at them, before taking off her bow.
"Blake, what are y–" Weiss began to say, only to freeze upon laying her eyes on the cat ears on top of her new friend's head.
The cat faunus swallowed, forcing down her feelings of nervousness from taking over and remained firm. "Before I came to Beacon… I helped rob an SDC train until my… partner decided that the human lives on board were expendable. That was the last job I ever did with the White Fang before I ran away." She confessed before looking into the heiress's eyes. "...Weiss, do you hate me?"
Weiss… hesitated. A million emotions and reactions ran through her mind before it settled on two: acceptance and regret. "...I don't. Do you?"
"...I don't."
"Good."
"Good."
There was a good few seconds of silence after that, neither sure what to say next. But eventually, it was Weiss who gathered the courage to break it. "...Blake?"
"Yeah?"
"I… I want to be with you." Weiss confessed as she reached out and held the cat faunus's hand. "And I always will… even if you decide to be with the dolt."
Blake gave the heiress a smile. "...I know."
Weiss returned the smile and leaned closer to the cat faunus.
She would need to revise her earlier thoughts. There was one thing that was free: unconditional love.
Blake and Weiss stayed in that library until curfew. Although they did eventually get some reading done, it was the first time Blake had ever read a book together with someone. From the expression the heiress was showing her as they read the book, she was probably going to borrow the book as soon as they passed the Initiation.
It was a lovely time…
…That completely destroyed Blake's mental wellbeing.
She thought maybe the little dates would help her figure out what to do, but all it did was make it harder. She didn't want to be in love! Be here she was, more in love than she had ever been in her entire life!
How could it get any worse?
Well…
"This is not what I had in mind." Blake said in an empty voice, staring straight up at the ceiling.
"This isn't what I had in mind either!" Yang called out.
To all the onlookers, they would see a very hot (literally, on fire) blonde staring in disbelief at the combined sleeping bags of three girls, with the yukata-wearing girl in the middle looking like she was about to spontaneously combust from all the attention.
"Quiet you!" Weiss hissed before holding onto her sweet kitty a little firmer. "It's your sister's fault for this arrangement."
"Stop blaming me for everything, princess!" Ruby growled while doing the same. "I just want to sleep wi- next to my new best friend."
"We have a test tomorrow. Instead of painting nails and talking about boys, this time we have before lights out would be better spent talking about strategy." Weiss advised before looking lovingly at Blake. "Isn't that right, my partner?"
"I have not agreed to either of those things." Blake mumbled, causing both crushing girls to look… well, crushed.
"Yet…?" Ruby then let out in a cautious manner.
"Can't you be both?" Yang soon chimed in.
"No." Weiss and Ruby said in unison.
"Well, maybe it would be best if you decide in the morning." Yang groaned. She had no idea what was going on, but she was hoping to deal with it tomorrow (so she calm down and decide whether or not someone deserved a beatdown). "Look, you got on the wrong foot with my sister. Why don't you forget all that and start again? I heard stress is bad for the hair."
"You're not involved in this, you brute, so leave me alone." Weiss waved off.
"Don't talk to her that way!" Ruby was red in the face, nearly matching her cloak's color when suddenly something shoved into it. "Wah!"
"Read it." Weiss ordered.
Ruby and Blake looked at the title of the pamphlet. "DUST for Dummies and Other Inadequate Individuals." The cat faunus read out loud for her.
"What's this? Why are you…?" Ruby began to ask, however…
"The Schnee Dust Company is not responsible for any injuries or damages sustained while operating a Schnee Dust Company product. Although not mandatory, the Schnee Family highly encourages their customers to read and familiarize themselves with this easy to follow guide to Dust applications and practices in the field."
Both Blake and Ruby stared at the heiress with dim looks on their faces. H-How did she sound like one of those legal disclaimers in commercials? "...What?" Was the smartest thing the younger girl could say.
"Don't. Mess. With Dust." Weiss slowly replied.
"I know how to safely use Dust. I learned it all last year with… um, satisfactory marks." Ruby argued.
"I didn't think you'd know that from Nowheresville."
"It's Patch. It's not in the middle of nowhere. It's an island."
Weiss then sighed. "Just read it. And after tomorrow, we don't ever talk to each other again."
"...I'm fine with that." Ruby admitted with a shrug.
"Can you two please not do this…? Let's just go to sleep." Blake then pleaded.
Blake decided to close her eyes and stop listening to whatever Ruby and Weiss were bickering about. Eventually, everyone began to get into their sleeping bags and the lights shut off. Other than some whispering and other noises that Blake would rather not focus on, the day had ended and everyone was asleep.
And yet, Blake remained awake.
Why were these two girls in love with her? And why was she in love with them back!? And what was that zing earlier!? Love at first sight only happens in stories! Fiction! Like how one would find their…
Soul…mate…
Wait a minute…
"Hiiiiiii~ I'm a big booby dumbo who spouts mumbo-jumbo about love and soulmates! I'm totally a real god, source: just trust me, darling!"
Oh.
Oh…
"...Oh, that bitch!" Blake suddenly growled. She would have pounded her fist too if it were for the fact she'd hit the thighs of her new… friends?
And don't think about how nice, smooth, and soft their thighs were! Gods, thank you for Aura for ensuring skin remained smooth and supple no matter how much training and punishment they go through! Even her butt remained as smooth as it was as a baby!
Blake had to slap herself (several times) to stop her thoughts from going any further.
"HEY! QUIET! PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO SLEEP!"
"Nora, quiet down…"
"Sorry."
Blake blushed as she tried to hide her head under her blanket.
The God of Love.
Okay, real or not, she definitely had something to do with Ruby and Weiss acting like this, and she was having this dilemma in the first place.
Unfortunately (well, fortunately, from a certain perspective), it was unlikely she would ever see the God of Love again considering the shrine was halfway across the world. She might need to do some research and see if there was a shrine for her somewhere in town.
Or, Brothers forbid, she had to build one herself. And she did not want to dip into her savings to do that. Even if she was paid to do it, she would rather go back to the White Fang.
With a sigh, she did her best to snuggle closer to Ruby and Weiss and drifted off to sleep.
…Only to wake up again.
"Urgh… Ruby, Weiss, it's too early. The Initiation is…" Blake groaned as she sat up, only realize she was… outside? "Huh?"
Was she on Beacon Academy's rooftop? How did she end up here? She hadn't visited this part of the school yet. Maybe she was in a dream?
Blake's eyes suddenly widened before she looked down, and let out a sigh of relief. Thankfully, she was clothed this time.
"Despite how scarred and ill this world is, it can still produce such wonderful sights." A very familiar voice spoke all of a sudden. "It's why I want to save Remnant to preserve it so that future generations may enjoy it."
Blake stood up and saw the God of Love leaning on the railing, watching the sun rise over the horizon. "You? Why are you in my dreams?" She asked.
The God of Love giggled as she turned to face her champion. "Well, you're not gonna be going all the way from Beacon to the shrine, are ya? It's easier if I talk to you in your dreams. After all, there's only one of me here. Can't always be around to answer you."
"Well, that's convenient."
"...Huh, you're a lot more appreciative than I thought…"
"...So I can KILL YOU!"
BANG BANG BANG!
"Oh." The God of Love deadpanned as the bullets from Blake's gun bounced off her I-Cups. "You know, aside from your completely uncivilized weapon not being real because this, again, is a dream… you really think you can kill a god like that?"
"I can try!" Blake declared as she reloaded, this time with Gravity rounds.
"So, you finally believe I'm a god." The God of Love soon noted.
"I believe I want to kick your ass!" Blake responded as she cocked the slide of her gun (releasing a loaded bullet by accident. She was that pissed). "What did you do to Weiss and Ruby?"
The God of Love looked confused. "Huh?"
"You did something to them to… to… fall head over heels for someone they just met!" Blake explained. "Is it because I'm your champion or whatever!?" She suddenly remembered.
"It has nothing to do with that. Let me be clear, no one is being controlled or brainwashed. If you only had one soulmate, one of them would've been it." The god soon informed in a calm manner.
Blake narrowed her eyes, but lowered Gambol Shroud. "What do you mean?"
"Do you remember what I said back at the shrine?"
"No." Blake was very blunt with how much she didn't care back then.
"Compatible souls." The God of Love said. "You will only make a connection with a compatible soul, and eyes are windows to the soul. It won't happen with everyone you meet. They were always your destined date."
"...I would've fallen in love with Ruby or Weiss regardless of being your champion?" Blake soon got out.
"Yes."
There was silence after that. "...Why…?" Blake eventually got out.
"Huh?"
"Why do I have so many soulmates in the first place?" Blake demanded.
"You're… an anomaly. Outside of your soulmates, your life was always destined to get… weird by mortal standard. So, I sort of took advantage of that." The God of Love answered. "I told you, this world needs more love so… why not you? You already want to change the world and make it better. Why not give you a little nudge in the right direction? A new power and destiny that can do more than just change perception."
"...You know what, that makes sense if YOU WERE A LUNATIC!" Blake soon yelled, right back to aiming at the God of Love's head.
"You're really scary, you know that." The god deadpanned.
Blake began to growl, channeling the panther blood her father gave her to sound a little bit more feral.
"Hey, I tried to explain to you earlier but you decided to try and act cool and crap and walk away before I was even finished! You could've known this all earlier if you hadn't left!" The God of Love soon tried to defend herself before sighing. "You would've known what would happen to the other girl you don't choose."
Blake suddenly felt a shiver of fear run down her spine, like it had been dipped in ice water. "...What?"
"Having a soulmate is one of the luckiest things to ever happen to someone. You can still fall in love, but when soulmates meet, they are guaranteed to be together even after death." The God of Love explained. "Of course, pouring all that luck into one moment and… well…"
"...All that's left is bad luck." Blake concluded.
"Yep."
"So what, they die?"
"..."
"...I was kidding!"
"They don't die… usually…" The God of Love assured quickly… before averting her gaze away from her simmering champion. "There are fates worse than death though."
"So… if I choose one of them…" Blake began.
"The other would suffer greatly. Guaranteed." The god finished. "...So do with that, what you will."
BANG BANG BANG!
"Still doesn't work." The God of Love deadpanned.
"YOU ARE THE WORST!" Blake screamed as she tossed her weapon to the floor, clutching her head while walking around the rooftop. "You're turning me into their judge, jury, and executioner! I can't go out with either of them knowing the other would… would… I don't want to think about what would happen! This is your fault!"
"Like I said, you just have to–"
"SHUT UP!" Blake interrupted. "I swear I'm going to kill you one day for playing with our lives like this."
"I'm not the first god to do that." The God of Love muttered under her breath.
"I said shut up!" Blake cried out. "Th-This has to be a nightmare. I… I don't want anyone to suffer because of me. I've already done enough of that!"
"That's not happening."
"Don't you lie to me!" Blake growled. "I love both of them too much to let anything bad happen!" She then declared.
"So you admit it."
It took a second, but Blake realized what she just said out loud. "I… N-No I… I…"
"Blake, honesty is the policy, especially when it comes to love."
Blake wanted to argue, to deny, to fight, but… no, she had done enough of that all day. "...Al-Alright, I do… I do like Ruby and Weiss. I love their personalities, their dreams, their looks, their… everything. I would be honored to date them."
"But…?"
"But… I don't want to choose one of them. Even if there wasn't death or worse hanging above them. I want them to find someone else. Someone better than me." Blake sighed. "Someone… who won't run and hide, who doesn't realize what they're doing until they're too late."
The God of Love smiled at her champion. "This is exactly the type of person who deserves multiple soulmates."
"No. You're wrong." Blake shook her head. "...Not yet."
"Not yet." The God of Love repeated, looking… proud?
"...Let me be clear, I hate you."
"You've made it clear about six bullets ago."
"But I'd rather die myself than leave behind Ruby or Weiss." Blake stated. "I'm not good enough for them, but I won't ever leave their side. I… I will always love them, even if I'm forced to choose one. If I had to… I'll grow into the person that deserves their love."
"...Believe what you will. But you'll know when the time comes that destiny is often not left to chance." The God of Love informed with a smile. "Remember, as my champion, the power of love is greater than you think. I hope you'll learn that soon." She then advised as she sun rose higher and higher until it blinded Blake.
"..."
And with that, she woke up.
It took a few seconds for Blake to realize she was awake, with the early morning sun beginning to leak in through the windows of the ballroom. "...The power of love? Tch, it's the power of swords and violence. That's where the money is at." She mumbled to herself.
She still didn't believe in that junk but… she did believe in what she felt.
There was no helping it. She had to do something about Ruby and Weiss before it was too late. It had to be soon.
It had to be now.
This couldn't happen in a public space. She needed somewhere a little more secret, where no one could possibly eavesdrop on them. But where could they meet…?
"Maybe an empty classroom or the rooftop…" Blake thought as she assembled her plan in her head. After a few minutes of silent contemplation, she had it down and was ready to execute it.
Unfortunately, she was probably sure Ruby and Weiss had her trapped in their arms since last night, so it was unlikely she would be able to act on her thoughts without waking them- "Wha?"
"Oh Blake, why are you so cold? Let me warm up, hehehehe~"
"No… don't touch me like that. Let's move to my father's desk, then you can touch me all you want on it~ ahhhh~"
Or… they could suddenly be wrapping their arms around each other like two lovers sharing a bed, giggling and drooling while Blake remained free to do whatever she wanted before they woke up.
How they ended up in that position was a question she didn't bother asking herself.
"So. Cute." Blake thought before shaking her head. "No! Don't get distracted!"
There was work to be done.
Slowly but surely, everyone began to wake up and start their morning routines. Despite how many people there were, it was actually pretty peaceful.
When Ruby and Weiss awoke… well…
"AAAAAHHHHH!"
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO RUBY!? I'LL KILL YOU!" Yang shouted out, already armed with her gauntlets (just in case) as she rushed over to see… a blushing Ruby and Weiss who were trying their best not to look at each other. "Huh? What happened? And where's Ms. Broody?"
"N-Nothing happened, Yang!" Ruby nervously got out, trying to laugh off whatever just happened.
"Yes. There was simply… a large bug." Weiss informed, a blush on her face.
"Y-Yeah." Ruby nodded.
Yang's gaze felt like it was killing them as she definitely did not buy the excuse. "...A bug."
"Like, you should've seen it." Ruby weakly said. "Killed it with our pillow. D-Don't touch it."
It was too early in the morning for this. "...I'm gonna get dressed now."
"You should." Weiss responded as the blonde walked away.
"..."
"..."
Once everyone went back to doing their own thing, quickly deciding not to get involved in the two weirdos' thing, Ruby and Weiss let out a breath. "Let us not speak of what just happened." The heiress soon said.
"Agreed." Ruby let out before looking around. "But… where is Blake?"
"It could be that she's an early riser…" "Hm?"
Written over the words of the pamphlet in thick black marker, it said: "We need to talk. Meet me on the rooftop before the Initiation?"
"That has to be Blake's handwriting." Ruby assumed.
"It could be, but also could be someone else trying to trick us." Weiss said, sounding rather convincing even to those not in the know. "I-I'll go spring the trap. No need to waste-"
"Weiss?" Ruby got out as the white haired girl turned to leave.
The heiress stopped in her tracks, letting out a sigh. "What?"
"Look, we can't keep fighting forever." Ruby stated. "Even if we end up on different teams, we're supposed to help each other as huntresses. If we let our grudges continue onto the field… well…"
"...Right." Weiss admitted while shaking her head. It was awful conduct. "You… like Blake, don't you." She then said.
"It's pretty obvious we both do." Ruby awkwardly chuckled. "Let's… Let's put this whole fight behind us, okay? Just for now, until Blake tells us what she wants."
"Okay." Weiss responded after taking a second to think. "If… If she only wants to be with one of us, we don't do anything to interfere with it."
Ruby nodded. "May the best best friend win."
"Partner." Weiss sighed, but shook on it with the younger girl. "But yes, let bygones be bygones. However, there is one problem that just occurred to me."
"Hm? What is it?"
"All this fighting with each other… you don't think she would rather cut ties with us, right?"
"..."
"..."
The two of them whimpered and teared up at the very thought. There was a silent promise made right then and there, where they could only hope they didn't have to stoop to in order to keep Blake as a known entity in their lives.
"...Let's go see Blake."
"Right."
Blake heard the door to the rooftop open. She had been dressed and ready for the Initiation for a while now, waiting for the girls to come to her. There was still about an hour and a half until it started, so she wasn't too worried.
The stupid god did have a point. It was a beautiful view of Beacon and Vale.
"Blake."
The cat faunus smiled as she turned around to see Ruby and Weiss.
So cute. So adorable. So… everything.
"Blake, your bow…" Weiss gasped, only for the faunus to show the ribbon in her hand.
"Whoa! You're a cat faunus!?" Ruby got out, staring in awe of Blake's cat ears.
"Hah, I already knew!" Weiss smugly revealed.
"What!?" Ruby exclaimed in shock.
"It was for a good reason." Blake assured. "But you know now. I… I don't want anything between us that might cause trouble later down the line. From now on, no more secrets. No more lies."
Well, maybe except one, but it was better for everyone if she kept it to herself.
"Alright then, so… is that all?" Weiss asked in a cautious manner.
"No." Blake shook her head. "I… I haven't been honest with you two. I–"
"PLEASE DON'T HATE US!"
"Wha–!?" Blake was stunned as her soulmates went to their knees, looking up at her with teary eyes while grabbing her hands.
"We're sorry for fighting all day!"
"We promise to stop!"
"I'll upgrade your weapon!"
"I'll pay for all your meals!"
"Just don't leave usssssss!"
Okay, something must've happened while she was away because they were finishing each other's sentences omygoshsomeonebetternotwakeherupfromthisdelightfuldream!
"Don't fight it… don't fight it…" Blake thought to herself. Throughout her time with the two, she had been resisting her feelings, trying to shove them down.
It was futile. She had to let out her feelings.
Blake soon helped them to their feet and let out a breath. "...I… I can't date either of you."
Blake could practically see Ruby and Weiss's hearts crumble. Actually, she could hear something crumble into unsalvageable rubble.
It broke her heart, which was why she decided on her next sentence loong before they came.
"Let me finish." Blake all but pleaded. "I can't date either of you… because I'm deeply in love with both of you. Weiss Schnee, Ruby Rose! Please, will you two go out with me?"
…go out with me…
…go out with me…
…go out with me…
Blake blushed. Okay, that confession ended up louder than she wanted it to be, causing a pretty long echo.
Hopefully no one heard that except-
"...WHAT!?"
Them.
"L-L-L-L-L-Like… G-g-g-g-g-girlfriend? N-Not Super Best Besties Better Than The Resties!?" Ruby stammered and sputtered, looking red as a tomato and breathing really, really fast.
"I… I… I only wanted a good c-c-combat partner…" Weiss mumbled, looking a little… broken by Blake's words.
"And then eventually girlfriends!" They then cried out in unison, only to cover each other's mouths.
Blake could only giggle. This only made them more adorable in her eyes! "Ruby, Weiss, you felt that shock didn't you? The connection we made when our eyes met?" She questioned. From their gasps, that was all she needed as an answer. "I want to cherish that connection, that feeling with the both of you. When you two fight, it hurts. I don't want any of that. I want all of us to be friends at the end of the day. And I… I'd feel terrible– no, no. It would be unforgivable if I ruined your beautiful smiles."
Her soulmates blushed even more.
"T-T-T-Tch! You!" Weiss got out with pointing an accusatory finger at her crush/girlfriend/lover/ohmigoshohmigoshohmigoshohmigosh… "I… w-what makes you think this is a good idea!? I mean, dating two people at once!? Are you insane!? We've only known each other for a day, not even a full 24 hours! W-We haven't even gone through the Initiation yet! W-We might not even be partners or on the same team!"
"I don't care." Blake responded without hesitation. "We will make it through the Initiation today, and I will make sure to see you each and every day. I… I'm not a perfect person. I've hurt a lot of people, and I'm… I'm afraid I won't be enough for the both of you, but I will make sure you all end your days with smiles on your faces. I swear on my heart, I will become the person that deserves your love!"
"B-Blake…" Weiss whispered before shaking her head. No, no, no! None of this should be working! "Th-This is rash! This is too much! W-We need more time and… I… I'm really flattered, and you're a really, really nice person, but this is going-"
"O-Okay."
All eyes turned to Ruby, who had remained silent since Blake's speech, looked up into her eyes, looking more sure than she had ever been in her life.
"O-Okay!?" Weiss repeated in disbelief. Was she hearing right or-
"Okay, I will date you, Blake!"
Nope, she was.
Ruby ran over and hugged the cat faunus, rubbing her cheek against her chest. "I can't really deny it. I… I really do like you a lot. I don't care if I have to share you with Weiss, as long as you're with me, I feel like I can do anything. That… you'll make me smile every day."
"Ruby…" Blake mumbled.
"G-G-G-GAH!" Weiss suddenly yelped before copying her fellow girlfriend. "Fine! You better keep us happy until the day we die or I swear I will make you pay!"
"Weiss…"
Ruby and Weiss then stared into the cat faunus' golden eyes, ready to say the words they've wanted to since yesterday. "I… I love you!"
ZING!
Again, a shock ran through Blake as the world faded away in her eyes. All that mattered right now was Weiss and Ruby… and she was perfectly okay with that.
Blake wasn't doing this to save them from terrible fate. She wasn't doing this because some stupid god decided to mess with their lives and she had to make the most of her situation.
No… she was doing this because she really, really, really, really, really loved Ruby and Weiss.
There shouldn't be anything in-between in their connection. Not the threat of death or worse if they aren't together. She wanted to earn their love, cherish it on her own.
So what if she was setting herself up for disaster? Blake was going to do her best to be both the best girlfriend and huntress on Remnant, no matter what.
And so, Blake had begun her journey in the frantic and complicated world that is harem life. Although she knew it would be fraught with bumps in the- wait, wait, wait. Hold on, hold on. Stop the-
There's something I'm missing here! This isn't the end of the chapter yet, there's something I'm forgetting!
G-Give me a… uhhhhhhh… what was it…?
Ah, right. Yang.
Yang did get dressed.
She also secretly followed her little sister and the heiress to the rooftop.
And now had no idea what was happening upon seeing everything.
There was only one appropriate reaction for this scenario.
"What. The. Fu–"
AND SO! From that moment onwards, began Blake's foray into harem life. However, things will only get a lot more odd from here on out. She still had a lot of soulmates to meet, after all, and there are many who would like to make her love life even more complicated than it already was, for better or for worse.
Who will Blake meet next?
Will she survive all the affection she will be getting from her soulmates (which will probably be all women because of someone's preferences)?
What does it mean to be the champion of the God of Love?
Will she keep all her soulmates happy?
Will she eventually kill the God of Love after all of this was over!?
"Please don't."
Shut up, you! Find out in the coming chapters of life in this insane harem! And remember: They Really Really Really Really Really Love You, Blake!
Save Game… Quit!
