Author's Note: Hey everyone! I'm back!
I decided to take a break for a bit. But now here I am with another Pokemon Scarlet story. I just can't get enough of writing them!
Hope you all enjoy! Take care!
Penny looked around the League Club room in baffled amusement after finishing a mobile game on her phone. The whole vibe of the room she was currently seeing was nothing like the picture she saw from Juliana before. She felt like she was in the wrong room even though she wasn't.
Kieran was standing close to her, so he took notice of her facial expressions. But just as he was about to say something, Penny spoke first, "This is not… what I saw in the picture. Why do I get the feeling that Juliana had something to do with this?"
Kieran replied, "The new club room design? Y-Yeah… it was Juliana."
Penny laughed, "Ha! I knew it! This is so her. All pink and girly like this…"
Kieran chuckled nervously, not knowing how to respond. Penny noticed this, and quickly asked, "So, how about this weather, huh?"
"It's good." Kieran shrugged, "I mean, the school is mostly underwater. So it's the same all the time…"
Penny sighed and apologized, "Sorry I couldn't think of anything else to say. I'm not too great at conversations like this…"
"N-No, it's okay!" Kieran responded with wide eyes, "I'm not good at small talk either!"
Penny smiled, "No worries… heh…" That's when she suddenly remembered something, "Oh, Kieran! You watch anime don't you? I mean, I wasn't like… being nosy or anything… I just… overheard."
Kieran was unsure, "Um… kind of. I only got into it recently. Crispin suggested some show to me and I just went along."
Penny perked up, "What show was it? If it's anime, I've probably heard of it at least!"
"Um… it's about a group of heroes who go to a school. And um… they each have special powers. It's really cool actually!"
Penny gasped, "I think I know what you're talking about! Could you tell me the name of the show?"
Before he could answer, the sound of the door opening caught their attention. Juliana entered the room with an Eevee in her arms, "Oh my gosh!" She was heard saying.
After closing the door, she looked around. Her eyes lit up seeing Penny and Kieran and she approached them quickly.
"Penny! This Eevee you gave me is so great! Thank you so much for giving her to me!"
The Eevee barked happily, "Eevee!"
Penny smiled, "No problem, Juliana! And don't worry, you can evolve her however you want to. Or, you could keep her an Eevee forever! Whatever you want to do!"
Juliana was eager, "Oh, I have an idea of what I want to do. But I want to surprise you! I'll show you once I'm ready to!" She then turned to Kieran, "Hi Kieran! What's going on?"
Flustered, Kieran answered, "Um… Not much, really. I'm sorry, am I in your way? Did you want me to leave?"
Juliana's responded quickly, "N-No, you aren't in my way at all! I'm glad to see you! You're always welcome to chill with us!"
Kieran smiled, "Thanks, Juliana!" He looked toward the door, "So um… where's Arven? I thought he was with you."
"He's in the school store, looking at the TMs! He was taking a LONG time so I thought I'd stop by here real quick." She gave an impish smile after finishing that last sentence, "Don't worry! He knows I'm here."
Penny noted, "He's really serious about getting better at battles, isn't he?"
Juliana nodded, "mm-Hmm! He sure is! Although he's already good. He just doesn't believe it for some weird reason! By the way Penny, how's that Hatterene I gave you?"
"She's doing great! She gets along so well with my Veevees, I haven't had to worry about a thing!"
"That's awesome! I thought a Hatterene suited you so well since it's a Pokemon that prefers solitude. It reminded me of you! I caught her from a Tera cave."
Penny nodded, "Hm, I see. Cool!"
Juliana turned to Kieran, "How about you, Kieran? How's the Tinkatink I got you?"
Kieran grinned, "She's doing amazing! She's a real beauty!"
Juliana suddenly snorted followed by a giggle, she looked around the room. Once she confirmed that Carmine was not present, she muttered, "Any more… crazy stuff happen?" She laughed out loud.
Kieran laughed too, "No, nothing too crazy. Please don't tell her I told you what happened, she'll totally beat me up!"
"Don't worry, I won't say a thing!" Juliana promised.
Penny raised an eyebrow, "Uh… I want to know. But I'm afraid to ask."
Juliana hid a grin behind a mouth, "You don't want to know, you don't want to know!" She repeated, "Trust me, it's nothing!"
Penny shrugged and sighed, "Okay then. Juliana, you really scare me sometimes…"
Kieran explained, "It was my fault because I didn't close my door. But… everything's okay now! No worries!"
"That's… um. I'm not sure what to say to that." Penny replied, "Well, as long as everything is okay then it's all right."
Juliana asked, "By the way, have any of you seen Nemona anywhere?"
"She followed my sis and Amarys somewhere… I don't know exactly where they went." Kieran answered.
"She's probably in that Terarium." Penny suggested, "That place is seriously so… I have no words I just can't! The number of Pokemon live in there is crazy!"
"Isn't it just the coolest thing?" Juliana enthused, "I've lost track the number of hours I've spent in there already!"
Kieran was understanding, "It's so easy to do that. I've done that a lot too!"
The door opened again, and Arven entered the room. Juliana turned to see him and she excitedly waved him over. He approached, "Hey everyone!"
Penny smirked, "Finally decided to come around huh Arven?"
"What do you mean?" Arven retorted, "Of course I'm always around! Especially if my girlfriend will be there."
Juliana got closer to him. Penny kept her smug face. Kieran nervously averted his eyes.
"So, I gotta story to share. I was whipping up a snack in that Terarium place earlier, and some Blueberry kids all gathered around to watch." Arven explained.
Juliana was intrigued, "Huh? Really?"
"Yeah, they were all staring like they had never seen anything like it! It was super embarrassing…"
Penny remarked, "Huh, I guess they aren't all that knowledgeable on sandwiches here."
"That's not true!" Juliana objected, "I made a super spicy sandwich for Crispin! It was part of the BB League test. He liked it a lot even though he looked like he was in pain eating it… heheh…"
Arven inquired, "Crispin? Isn't he one of the Elite Four here? The guy that always carries that frying pan around?"
"Yeah, he is. And yes, that's him!" Juliana affirmed, "So, what did you end up doing Arven? With everyone watching and all…"
Arven sighed, "I was so flustered I ended up just making 'em all sandwiches to eat too…"
Kieran pointed out, "So that's why I saw a bunch of people eating sandwiches all of a sudden!"
Juliana was smiling, "Aww, you're so sweet, Arven!"
Arven turned bright red, "Wha!? I-I am not! I'm completely sour! I just couldn't stand the pressure of all those eyes!"
Kieran replied, "If… it helps you feel better Arven. Everyone was talking about how amazing of a cook you are."
Arven sighed, "I… I'm glad to hear that. Still, I don't think I'm cut out for this place… If the others here are that fascinated by someone making a sandwich."
Penny had gone to take a seat at the table to look at her rotom phone. Juliana tried to assure Arven, "Don't say that! I'm sure you'll be just fine here, once you're used to it! It just takes time."
Arven hesitated before answering, "Yeah, I guess… Director Clavell told me that if I study here, it can help me catch up on my credits even faster. That's a plus."
Kieran added, "I have to catch up on classes too, being on break and all."
"Yeah, that makes sense." Arven shrugged, "Still, that was so awkward."
Juliana kept smiling, "Everyone here is really nice though. But they're super competitive about battles here, so watch out for that."
"Yeah, I've noticed." Arven remarked, "That means this place is a paradise for someone like Nemona."
"I wonder what she's doing with Carmine and Amarys." Juliana wondered.
Meanwhile…
"What the!? I lost AGAIN!?"
Carmine's shout bounced off the walls of the canyon around them, echoing down the path. This succeeded in startling a group of Deerling and they ran for cover.
Amarys was unfazed, "Well done, Nemona. A fine effort from both of you." She congratulated in a monotone voice.
"Thanks!" Nemona replied happily, "That was so much fun! We'll have to go for another round!"
Carmine looked at her in exasperation, "You really don't have an off switch, do you?"
Nemona failed to detect her sarcasm, "Oh, I'm always ready for a battle anytime! So, what do you say?"
Amarys displayed a bit of disbelief. Carmine sighed, "Well, I guess it was still pretty fun. Even though I lost. But don't get too confident! I'll get you next time!"
Nemona grinned, "All right! Thanks so much, Carmine!"
Carmine shook her head, "I can see why you and Juliana are best friends. You're both so uncooperative! But hey, that'll make it more satisfying when I finally beat you both!"
Amarys tried to calm things down, "Perhaps we should rest. Things are getting a little too noisy…"
Nemona's attention turned to her, "Amarys! You and I should battle too! Juliana's told me so much about you. She said you're a real tough cookie!"
Amarys raised her eyebrows, "Oh? Is that so?"
"Yeah! Juliana also told me how cool and interesting you are! Now I can see what she was talking about!"
"I'm… flattered." Amarys admitted, getting a little embarrassed.
"So, when can you and I have a match?" Nemona eagerly asked, "I would love to see the kind of Pokemon you use!"
Amarys hesitated a bit before answering, "I… have to get to class soon. But after that, I can check my schedule. My role as an Elite Four member keeps me occupied."
Nemona clapped her hands, "Sounds awesome! Can't wait!"
Amarys then called a flying taxi and left, leaving Nemona and Carmine to themselves. Nemona turned back to Carmine, "You're so lucky to get to be at this school full-time, Carmine! This is definitely my kind of place!"
Carmine chuckled, "I guess you've battled a lot of the other kids here?"
"Of course! And they aren't scared of me!"
"Heh… so Nemona… Changing the subject… Juliana and Arven are a couple. And I'm aware that Penny's got herself a boyfriend… But what about you?"
Nemona was confused, "Me? What about me?"
Carmine adopted a playful smile, "Come ooooonnnn, you know what I'm talking about. You've got anyone special?"
Nemona's eyes lit up, "Oh! Nah, not me! Heheh…"
Carmine was baffled, "Wha…?"
"I've always been more interested in having friends! Never thought about a romantic partner though."
"Oh, really? You never thought about having a boyfriend? Or a girlfriend?"
"Nope!" Nemona answered confidently, "I've never been attracted to anyone like that before. I'm perfectly happy just having friends!"
Carmine was amused by this, "Oh dear… you're like a little Cleffa. So smiley and innocent… The fact that you're such a battle fanatic makes it even funnier."
Nemona laughed at this, "Yeah! That's me!"
Carmine shrugged, "Eh, oh well. I guess I still got Juliana to prod. Hm… I think I'll go do that right now! I'll catch you later, okay Nemona?"
"Okay! See you later!" Nemona waved, "I'm gonna stay here and look for some others to battle!"
Carmine rolled her eyes, "Sure, sure. Later!" She then called a taxi and asked to be taken to the entrance.
She thought to herself, "Now where could Juliana be?"
Author's Note: Uh oh… watch out Juliana! Carmine's comin' to getcha!
See you all later!
