I hope you enjoy and feel free to leave a comment.
Akari sat in LuLu's, her favorite café in town. Today, however, was not her favorite day to be here considering she was struggling through the math problems that had been assigned to her class over the weekend. Akari rubbed the bridge of her nose as she set her pencil down on her destroyed notebook. She contemplated whether she should read over the examples in the textbook one more time or call it a day and go home to get some dinner. After thinking it over for a moment Akari decided that she owed it to herself to read over the examples and give her problems another shot, but first she needed a sandwich. She purchased her shrimp and avocado sandwich and proceeded to focus her attention on the book in front of her once again. Her eyes widened as she scanned the page and she set her sandwich down and quickly picked up her pencil. She started scribbling furiously in her notebook hoping that she had finally understood what the book was trying to teach her. With excitement she put her pencil down and went to check her answer in the back of the book. Her answer:5/6 the books:3.
"What the actual hell?! I'm not even in a math focused program why do I even have to do this," she complained loudly while tossing her eraser in anger. To her horror it bounced off the head of a gray-haired man standing in line. 'Oh, shit I hit an old person, now I'll be arrested too for abuse of the elderly,' Akari thought as she closed her destroyed notebook and put that and her book away in her backpack. She waited patiently for the elderly gentlemen to get his coffee.
'Once I apologize for hitting him, I should really get home so I can focus on this math that I have to get done by tomorrow…' Akari's thoughts trailed off when the 'old man' swiped his coffee off the counter and turned to face her. The person holding the coffee was most certainly not an old man. He was a very young very handsome man with, not gray, but spiky silver hair. Akari's breath caught in her throat as her eyes trailed down to the muscular arms. It was only then that she realized that said male was headed right towards her table with a less than happy expression on his face. When he got to the table, he smacked the eraser that had hit him in the head down on the side opposite Akari.
"Yo, pay attention to your surroundins and stop throwin' shit," the young man bit at her before turning on his heel and walking out of the coffee shop.
Akari was stunned. It was then she realized that she had not given him a formal apology. He may be a young man but he still deserved an apology for being hit with her eraser. Deciding that there was not much that she could do about that now, not to mention the fact that everyone was staring at her, Akari decided that it was best to go home and finish her assignments. She walked to the train station quickly after exiting the coffee shop and stepped onto the first train headed towards her home. Once home she went straight to her room to try to desperately finish her math homework.
Akari glanced at the clock. The night had not been kind to her. She had opted to only have some rice and beans in her room for dinner and had continued to work while she ate. It was now one in the morning and she only had one problem left to do in the set that the teacher had assigned them. She rubbed the bridge of her nose and picked up her pencil. By this time her notebook looked as if it had gone through the river in town with how torn up it was, but Akari was too tired to care at the moment. She put her pencil to the paper and started to do her calculations not caring if they were right or not this time, she was just ready for this assignment to be over with. When she put her pencil down, she looked at the clock and saw that it was 1:30 in the morning. She stretched her arms above her head and closed her book, it was time to sleep before the morning she had ahead of her at Rikkaidai.
A/N: So that was the introduction chapter to the story. It will follow a similar but not exact plot to the original story that I wrote a decade ago….it should be a bit more refined if that's what you could call this.
