It was finally the weekend, as William got home. As he opened the door, all he could hear is Susannah crying, as he turns the corner, sees Julia trying to comfort her.
"Rough day, eh?" He says as he approaches her and takes Susannah
"You don't know the half of it" she says as she wipes the sweat of her brow, "she has the influenza. I tried giving her a bath, to bring down the temperature but all she did was cry."
As he comforts Susannah in her arms, he says, "why don't you go have a shower. I'll heat up some the leftovers and put on the kettle."
She kissed his cheek, "thanks need one"
It was 3:00 in the morning, when William heard Susannah screaming again, as Julia got up, when he grabbed her arm, "I'll get her"
She didn't say anything, as she fell back onto her pillow.
As he got up, he suggested they try giving her apple sauce and water with a bit of ginger.
She nods in response, "I'll try anything"
It was 4:30 when he got back to back, as she turned to him, "how did it go?"
"She got the apple sauce and water down. I tried giving her milk again, but that made her bring up everything. So, I gave her the water and ginger, again and she fell asleep."
"Let's hope she sleeps, till at least 6:30" Julia said as she places her head on his chest.
Susannah had woke up again at 6:00, which was better than nothing. All Saturday, was an all day struggle.
At one point, William was so frustrated, he had to give Julia, Susannah, so he could run into their room and scream into a pillow.
Julia finally got Susannah down for a nap, as she went into the room and saw William sitting on the bed, looking down with his hands on his face.
"You ok?"
He looks up at her with tears in his eyes, "I'm my father"
She sits beside him, "you're not your father. You are just tired and not being able to help your daughter, is frustrating."
William nodded, "is she ok?"
"She's asleep. We should do the same"
He nods as they both lie down for a nap.
Came Sunday, it was a bit better during the day, with hardly any screaming until nighttime.
It was 6:00 in the morning, as William heard Susannah screaming again, as he got up showered, dressed and headed to work.
As he walked to the station, he came up with an idea, to make Susannah feel better.
A hydration draft, with all the nutrients to help heal the body, with the taste of fruit.
That afternoon, as he was working on a case, Julia had called him, "William, the hydration draft is working well and it's quite delicious."
"Julia, I made the hydration draft for her. But I'm glad it's working and that you enjoyed it"
