Ever since William got Julia the periscope to help her copy the photograph of herself and Susannah, she couldn't stop drawing portraits.
She finished the first one within 4 days, and then decided to draw a copy of their wedding photograph.
As, she was drawing, Susannah was playing on the floor, as William worked on a new contraption at his desk.
"How's the drawing coming?" He asked
"Very good, just trying to get the details of my dress is difficult. But I won't give up" as she puts down a crayon and reaches for another one, but it's not there.
She begins to look everywhere on the table and floor, "William, have you seen my charcoal crayon? It was right here on the table?"
"Don't worry we'll find it…wait where's Susannah?"
Julia turns back, "she's right here…" but no one was there, "oh no, Susannah?"
William moves towards her, "don't worry, we'll find both the Susannah and the crayon"
They began searching all over the living room, lifting furniture, since she loved hiding underneath things, "Susannah? Susannah?" They both called out, but nothing, when William looks down the hallway, and sees Susannah drawing on the wall, "uh, Julia found her" holding in a laugh
"Oh, thank goodness, where is she?" She called out
William lifts her up, from the floor and takes the crayon out of her hand, "ah, come down the hallway"
Julia walks fast down the hallway and sees the wall is covered in a charcoal crayon, "Susannah?" She couldn't help but laugh
"We have another artist in the family" he says as he kisses Susannah's cheek
Julia kept chuckling, "I should be mad, but I'm not. It's quite good for a 1 year old."
"I agree. You see a shape like a house, a father, mother and baby"
Julia approached her, "she drew a drawing of our family"
Susannah smiled and cooed
"It's a beautiful drawing, and William get a photograph of it."
He nodded, "I will"
Julia took Susannah in her arms, and mouthed, "once she is down for her nap, I'll wash it off"
He nodded again
Once Susannah was down for her nap, and Julia cleaned the drawing, William came towards her, "you truly weren't mad Susannah drew on the wall?"
She looked at him and shook, "truly. But it's funny, I one time drew on the wall when I was her age and got scold, by my nanny"
"Sorry to hear that."
She nodded, "luckily my mother, had come home earlier that day from her tea, and the nanny informed her what had happened."
"How did your mother take it?"
"She laughed. Thought it was so funny and asked to see the drawing"
"I bet the nanny was shocked?"
"Oh, indeed she was, especially after she informed my mother she spanked me. She was furious and immediately fired her."
"Your mother sounds like she was a wonderful woman"
"She truly was, and she would have loved you and Susannah"
He smiled
She got up from the floor, when she asked, "what did you think of the drawing?"
"It was amazing, and I was more scared you would have been mad at her."
"William, I could never be mad at Susannah. Not ever. She's our little princess"
"Now she's our little artist" he said as they both smiled
