Lucy couldn't make her hands stop shaking. Her vision was burning from tears after reading the book, a diary that she had taken from the attic three days ago. The handwriting in it was exactly like hers. The specific word choices to construct the sentence were all things she'd have chosen.

Yet the dates were from over two hundred years ago, and there was no way anyone could use a way to replicate the age, which was slightly brittle and thick yellow vellum paper hand-sewn together. This diary was made roughly two hundred years ago and fits the history of the cabin.

Swallowing to suppress the nausea she felt. Lucy turned the page and read the next entry.

June 3rd, XXXX

Today, I spent the day at the lake. I enjoy hanging out with Mrs. Ultear Fullbuster's fraternal twin boys, who, though similar, are complete opposites.

It isn't just their looks but peculiar quirks unique to each individual.

Gray is more withdrawn and cold but loyal, while ~ ~ ~ ~ is outgoing, warm, and loyal. Both are total mama's boys. I know Mister Silver tries his best so they'd favor him.

Ah, yeah, the new girl in town, Juvia Lockser, joined us. We can clearly tell she favors Gray, the poor girl. She has yet to notice how romantically dense he is. However, ~ ~ ~ ~ seems to like Juvia, which makes for an odd love triangle, and I don't want any part of it. I don't want to see my two best friends hurt or this new girl who is sweet.

Blinking at the two familiar names, Lucy frowned. The third name was oddly blurred out as if someone purposefully smudged it out with intent.

Lucy took a deep breath and continued to the next entry. She felt as if something was compelling her to continue read.

June 12th, XXXX

Well, I expected to learn something other than the truth today.

I am still in shock. Juvia, who had only been here a few months, confessed to Gray. This was not a surprise, as it was very obvious she liked him. Nor was Gray rejecting her in his normal cold manner. It was Gray shouting that he had a crush on me after Juvia pestered him about who he liked.

Gray likes me and has for a few years,. ~ ~ ~ ~ took the news badly by how he showed off after calling Gray a name. I will not be writing that here as it is very crude and impolite.

I like both of them. They are my best friends, and I have never thought of them as anything other than friends. Yet none of us, Juvia included, are children but young adults of marriageable age.

I feel conflicted. Juvia is my good, new friend—a girl whom I feel I could confide in. But she likes Gray. I guess I will try to talk to her and explain my thoughts and feelings so she doesn't feel as if I am being mean, lying, and leading her on.

Shuddering, Lucy recalled all the looks and words Gray Fullbuster had given her since moving here. He was not the same person as in the journal, as he had no brother. Yet could he, his family, be descendants of the Gray Fullbuster and Juvia Lockser from that time?

Lucy felt it would be weird if it were so, even scary. Especially since both said they and their families have always lived near the lake in the town.

Setting the diary in her lap, Lucy picked up her cup of tea. It had become lukewarm, but she still sipped from the cup. It was hard not to spill since her hands refused to cease shaking.

With a loud 'clink,' Lucy set the cup on the table, picked the diary back up, and turned the page to the next diary entry. A part of her felt curious about what had been written on the missing pages that had been torn out after that last entry.

August 30th, XXXX

I promised ~ ~ ~ ~ to go to the lake tomorrow at midnight. He said he had something to tell me and claimed the full moon would be an actual blue moon.

Since June and finding out about Gray's and ~ ~ ~ ~'s feelings, I have come to realize my own. And I want to tell ~ ~ ~ ~ them as well. He is so precious to me, and I don't want to deny myself.

But I know this will further tear apart our small quartet. With all the strange things Gray and Juvia have been doing lately, we do need to stick together. We can only be safe as a united group and not split into two factions or individuals.

Faint images, like memories, floated across Lucy's mind. She knew these were things she'd written in her first published book years ago. Yet now they seemed to more? How was it possible?

Taking a deep breath, Lucy marked her place in the diary and put it down. She wanted to continue reading, yet she also did not. If the next entry was like the follow-up scene in her story, she'd end up crying.

Standing, Lucy set the diary on the end table and made her way to the stairs. She kept trying to rationalize that getting some sleep would clear her mind so she'd stop drawing similarities.

His body writhed in pain. The fact his soul was trapped being tortured by the entity was nothing new.

"Yes, it draws closer. I'll finally earn what is mine finally."

He struggled against the unseen vines imprisoning him. He wished she'd stop reading the diary. He wished she'd pack up and leave again and never return to this town and this curse.

"No, she won't. I'll have her, and then the wish for this pact will be complete."

The cold permeated his soul as it fell further into despair. He knew if he had a physical body, tears would still be like a waterfall as they streaked down his cheeks. Yet he couldn't truly hate those who had caused this whole thing. No, he still loved his blood and felt a friendship with the other.
